AGP and PCI interact?

is it likely that AGP slots and PCI slots interact in some way?
I had my monitor acting strangely depending on which PCI slots were placed PCI cards...

I am a Digidesign ProTools user and I have three Digidesign cards in the PCI slots. They seem to be very picky about their placement in the PCI slots. Anyway if the first PCI slot is empty monitor does not come on when I start computer or comes on with an irregular image (slow in responding and moving little stripes) unless I restart and everything returns as it should. How can I check if power is enough to drive everything properly? Or do I need to update some driver? Is there a better graphic card that I can install in place of the stock one (should be a Radeon 7500 or a GeForceMx)?

I'm about to upgrade my system I have ATI X800 XT AGP 8x graphic card but I want to get a PCIe motherboard.
There was a motherboard which had both AGP and PCIe slots on it but that motherboard was for Intel. Since I want to get AMD 64 3500 I can't buy it. So my question is. Are there motherboards coming out for AMD which have both AGP and PCIe slots anytime soon?

That web page include a link to "compatible" cards. That table shows AGPx8 cards tested. Does that mean the cards are AGPx8 or that they have been tested at AGPx8?

I wonder about when raising FSB on this motherboard; will there be any divider for the pci and agp clocks, so the pci stays at 33 mhz so I don't mess up any hardware there? And what about the AGP? ?(

No, there is no sign any such a device in the boot up information, which is a bit strange isn't it? It lists my other stuff o.k. - see below.

Network Adaptor 1: Realtek RTL8139(A)-based PCI Fast Ethernet Adaptor. The driver for this must be included in Win 2000 as I didn't have to install anything for it.
Network Adaptor 2: BT Speedway ISDN PCI Card Rev. A (Win 2000). I had to install the driver for this from the supplied CD.
Video Adaptor: NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 M64/M64 PRO. I installed the latest unified driver from NVIDIA (Version: 44.03

What puzzles me most is that when I rebuilt the system I started out with just the video card installed and no other adaptors (the card was using the Microsoft supplied driver) and there was no sign of the sound system then. So, unless there is something fundamentally wrong with the motherboard surely the sound should have been detected?

On-board RAID and PCI RAID controller

Hello everybody,
I am new to the forum. So, please excuse me if that topic was already covered...
I have MSI MAX2-LR (MS-6398E) board. It works just fine, no problem so far. Though I have 2 problems with add-on cards:
1. I was planning to use on-board RAID and additional PCI RAID controller = FastTrack 100 TX2 to cover 6 hard drives into 2 mirrored sets: 4drives one and 2 drives the other.
It doesn't work! I can use either on-board RAID or PCI RAID. As soon as I have any drive connected to on-board RAID, the PCI RAID disappeares. If I have no drives connected to on-board RAID, I can see both RAID controllers, they have different I/O and IRQs, and PCI RAID is working just fine. If only I connect one drive to the on-board RAID, it gets activated on startup, and the other one disappeares. :O
I believe it's a BIOS bug. I wander, if that can be fixed easily????? :D
2. I have a new Matrox Video card = Parhelia. It doesn't work in AGP slot! System doesn't recognize it, and beeps non-stop. I am dealing with Matrox Tech Support on that matter. ?(
Maybe, it's a known issue, and somebody can save me time by telling what's that about.

I am truely confused by how you are attempting to achieve things.
1. The Office 2013 package is only supported if deployed globally
2. AppLocker is the way to restrict users from starting different applications
3. Office 2013 is not supported to be published to users
It seems you have issues with #3. Which is not supported. I am not saying it "doesn't" work, but considering you have issues with it - perhaps we can start by not doing it?

Per your statement, Office 2013 is published globally. Ergo, all shortcuts and applications should be available to all users.

yes. there are a couple of ways to do this.
one is the create a child movieclip of container_mc and load
into that child and assign your onPress/startDrag
onRelease/stopDrag methods to container_mc.
a second way is to load into container_mc (like you're
currently doing), wait until loading is complete (ie, use the
onLoad method of an mcl listener) and then assign your methods to
container_mc.

I suspected you used the eye icon on the timeline to hide the message, but that one has no impact whatsoever on the published version. It is only meant to be used for editing reasons on the stage, to hide objects temporarily on a crowded stage. It is confusing, certainly in CP8 where for both instances the same eye icon is used. In previous versions the Properties panel had a checkbox for 'Show in Output', which was IMO much clearer than this eye icon. But of course, that is only my personal opinion.

Only if the form has been Reader Enabled before it is sent out to the user with Reader.
There are two ways of Reader Enabling the form. One using Acrobat Standard v9 or Acrobat Professional v8 (both have license restrictions). The other is to use LC Reader Extensions ES2, which is a server product (additional costs).

Drag and Drop Interaction Scoring

Hi-
I've created a drag and drop interaction for a quiz with four
objects. Each object has to match up to the correct spot in order
for the user to get the answer correct. I've done this type of
interactions before successfully and not had a problem with
scoring.
But this time .. the only thing I can see that's different
about this quiz is that I'm not assigning any points in the "Score"
field - I am instead using the Status of Correct Response alone.
I've found that this interaction scoring works perfectly for my
other quiz interactions but there seems to be a problem with the
drag and drop - when the user moves the objects around and
temporarily places an object in the wrong (or maybe even correct)
spot, each of these movements is being racked up as correct in this
interaction So, if there's an ambivalent user they're going to get
many more points than is even supposed to be possible.
I can't see anything different that I've done with this
interaction other than the scoring. I changed to correct response
scoring because it was the only way I could figure out how to reset
the quiz score after the user leaves and comes back. (using
TotalCorrect)
Anyway, I'm open to ideas - even if it's not the scoring -
any help would be appreciated!

Don't use the quiz knowledge objects and code yourself...?
You'll find many on here who can help you with hand coding
and probably none
who know much about implementing those KO's who can answer
questions. The
reason is if you know enough to be able to answer questions,
you know enough
to know that these KO's are a short term crutch that cause
long term
problems.

Problems with Ethernet controller and PCI device driver on Satellite L30-10X

Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Russia.
Just few days ago I bought Satellite L30-10X with W Vista on board. My opinion, that this OS does't very good on this computer, so I install W XP.
I have some problems with drivers. At first, I dont know what model I have:PSL30 or PSL33? I download all drivers for both models. But, after installation, computer doen't find drivers for Ethernet controller and PCI device...

Satellite L30-10X belongs to the PSL33E series. This number can be found on the label placed on the bottom of the unit!
You have to choose this number from the driver download form to get the compatible XP drivers.
I dont know why you are not able to install the LAN driver. Ive got the same notebook with Vista and Ive installed the XP and all drivers run fine.
I assume you have installed the drivers in wrong order. Please take the look in the Toshiba installation instruction txt file. In this order you have to install the driver! Its important.
I think you should install the XP again to ensure the clean registry and then download and install the compatible XP drivers like mentioned in the installation instruction file.

Drag and Drop Interaction Wizard

I am having problems with the Drag and Drop Interaction Wizard. I am using Captivate (6.1) and when I launch the wizard I am able to select the drag objects and drop targets, but when I get to Step 3 (mapping), I am unable to map the drag sources to the drop targets. When I double click on the drag source and draw the arrow to the drop target, the arrow disappears.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did you do about it?

Hi,
You do not want to double click on the object in Step 3. All you need to do to map the source to destination, on the Green Items you would notice a '+' symbol, drag and put them on the drop item, you would able to map them easily that way, double clicking them would deselect the object.

Does Safari support a interactive PDF with hidden layers? I'm on version 5.0.3 and the interactive PDF displays just fine, but our web development team tells me all the layers display when they view the same PDF on Safari.

Does Safari support interactive PDFs with layers? Through the use of hidden layers and buttons we built in interactivity that allows the viewers to click on buttons to display different content. When I view the PDF in Safari 5.0.3 on my Mac OS 10.5.8 the PDF displays fine and the interactivity works. However our web design firm tell me the PDF displays all the hidden layers when they view it in Safari. Who's right?

Try updating your Safari to the latest version, 5.0.5.
Also check whether the rest of your system is up to date by going to Software Update in the Apple menu.

Having trouble having both an interactive form and an interactive page curl in a pdf?

Okay, so I need an interactive pdf with a page curl AND an interactive form. I exported my Indesign file as a swf file with the interactive page curl, (which the interactive form doesn't work on), then I imported the swf file back into Indesign, opened the media tab and chose the option to 'open file on current page' so that when I open the pdf it doesn't ask me to activate the file before use, and then export as an interactive pdf. the interactive page curl works perfectly, but the form doesn't work. How do I put an Indesign form into my interactive pdf?

If I understand correctly, you are calling the addInstance() on click of the button that you placed in your form and when you add more pages using this button and save the fikle and open it again, the newly added instances are not displayed in the form. Am I right?
If this is the scenario, the you need to store the value of the forms created using this button and call the same addInstance() method in the initialize event of your form. I.e place the same code that is there in click event of the button inside the Initialize event of the form with the number that we have saved in some hidden field.

Sharing an external sample clock between PCI-6722 and PCI-6602

I need PCI-6602 work with PCI-6722。6602 shares 6722’s ao/SampleClock as external clock and triggered by 6722’s ao/StartTrigger。The master device is 6722, which refered as Dev1, and the slave device is 6602, which refered as Dev2. A RTSI line is used to connect the two devices correctly.
I use C API to finish my program and my code is as follows:

I run it on the MAX virtual Device, and the Step 11always returned -89120。
I try to slove this problem, so I change the Step 7, use /Dev2/PFI9 to instead of /Dev1/ao/SampleClock.

From looking over your post, it looks like you want to program in C, using simulated instruments, a master/slave design with a PCI-6602 and PCI-6722. The PCI-6722 is the master device and the PCI-6602 is the slave device. In order to implement this with the real cards, you would need a RTSI cable between the 2 cards in order to pass the triggers and the sample clock. Unfortunately with simulated devices you can't implement this so parts of your code won't be able to work exactly like if you had the instrument.
If you did have the instrument, you can implement this by performing the following steps:
Master Device:
1.) Export the ao/SampleClock and ao/StartTrigger to a RTSI Line. (See DAQmx C Reference help for DAQmxExportSignal to export these)
Slave Device:
1.) Set the Sample clock and the trigger to the RTSI.
There is another forum that I think will help you out to implement this correctly. In this forum, the customer was trying to export a trigger through a RTSI and the problem he was experiencing was a broken RTSI cable. His code, he states, works. I hope this helps you with this and if you have any more questions, feel free to post.

Work with PCI-6052E and PCI-6601 simultaneously

Hi, I'm working with PCI-6052 for bufered data output and PCI-6601 for read two encoders at same time, when I work with single board I don't have problems but when I work both simultaneously I have a problem only I can out data or only I can read the encoders but not both at the same time. How I make this?

Hi,
You probably have one task in LabView running in series after the other. Both of these tasks require a loop. Your buffered data output needs to be written in continuous fashion in a loop (I believe) and your encoder measurements are being read constantly as well (should be in a loop). Try experimenting with these two suggestions.
I would copy both programs into 1 VI and keep them running completely separate. LabView will be able to assign each a different thread so they should be able to run completely in parallel. Therefore you would have 2 parallel loops that are not connected at all.
You can also create two completely different VIs and run them in parallel. There is no reason why the two different programs would interfere.
