AGP card will not start

I have just put the system listed below using old parts like the cd rom and Hdd. Being the the type who cannot wait i desided to use the Hercules XT4000 out of my daugters computer to see if it would actually boot up. Everthing was fine untill windows fully loaded and the resolution went down to low(4 colours). I have tried reinstalling the drivers, removing the drivers and then removing the card, restarting to see if windows recognises the card. Which it didn't. In device manager the card is listed but with an exclamation mark against it.
I hope this is enough info.
Thanks in advance for any help posted.
Would it also just be better to wait until i get my intended graphics card and cross this problem then.
Sean

Yes it is a Kyro chipset, i suppose i'll just have to wait till i can squirrell some more money away.

  • ASI Fieldbus Card will not start up on Win2000

I am trying to start my ASI FBUs card in a Dell Optiplex GX110 running Win 2000. I also have NI FBus Configurater 2.3.6. I have set up the interrupts and memory to a free resource. To no avail I can not get the card to start.
I have also tried going through the windows add/delete hardware program but the only FBus card option it has are the PCMCIA card. Under Windows/device managers I can see the PCMCIA card is installed but it shows a error "This device cannot start. (Error Code 10)"
Is there a specific driver for the ASI cards. Current driver I have is the NIFB.sys in the systems/driver folder.

I guess you are talking about AT-FBUS card. Actually you don't need to install any .inf file for AT-FBUS, and you need to select your card type (AT-FBUS or PCMCIA-FBUS) during the installation. In fact, you need to check the driver in "Device Manager" with "Show hiddent devices" selected.
You can refer to the attached "Windows 2000 Installation Guide" to install the AT-FBUS properly.

  • AGP card will not fit in powermac g5

Never mind this question, it fits I just wasn't pushing hard enough and apparently deleting questions isn't an option on this forum

Hmmm, all 3 different 2.0 GHz G5 PowerMacs had regular 8X AGP Pro slots.
Can't imagine what is going on, never heard of any difficulties or differnt AGP slots???

  • PowerMac G5 will not start up.

    Hello,
I have a PowerMac G5 2.5GHZ Dual Processor (June 2004) that will not boot past the grey apple screen.
It will not get to a second chime by holding Command-Option-P-R at startup.
If I start up using Command-Option-O-F and enter reset-nvram (return) and reset-all (return) it freezes.
I have pressed the PMU button once.
It will start up using the hardware diagnostic disk and I can run the extended test multiple times (everything passes). When I press shut down or restart on the diagnostic screen, it freezes.
It will not start up from the Leopard installer disk.
It will not start up from the Disk Warrior startup disk.
I did run Disk warrior on the hard drive via Target Disk Mode and another computer.
Everything is disconnected from the computer except monitor, keyboard and mouse.
I have swapped the RAM with another identical computer that runs fine.
Battery has been tested and is fine.
Does anybody have an idea of where to look?
    thanks
    Ken

I seem to have similar issues. 3 out of about 40 times have I been able to get a second chime out of my pram reset...then I hols and get about 3 more. Each time...OS starts up and works just fine...until I sleep/shut down the computer. My drive has 5 gigs left on it, i hear that may be the issue. How do we remove the graphics card and reset that????
oh and BTW...leaving the plastic door off and trying to reset PRAM worked 2 out of the 3 times for me. This is getting frustrating. Im gonna free up some drive space and see what happens. Let me know if/how the graphics card trick works. It's fairly ridiculous that so many of us have these same issues.

  • Mac Book Pro will not start up

My 2008 MBP will not start up.  When i turn it on, it goes to a gray screen with the Apple Symbol and the wheel below it keeps spinning.  ANy suggestions?

It may be just a graphic card or a display problem, but as the MacBook Pro has got the graphic card soldered onto the logic board, you will need a new logic board.
The logic board is the most expensive part of the computer, and more on a MacBook Pro that has got near everything soldered to the logic board. Take the Mac to an Apple Store to get your Mac repaired.
If it's the display, it will be expensive too, but less than a new logic board

My  z10 was fully charged and used it in the morning. A while later my phone was totally dead. It will not start up. I have pulled the battery and sim card and still nothing. Even put it on a charger and will not turn on. A couple days before this I had just uploaded the newest software. Also a couple of days ago I got a blue screen and also the phone has been rebooting itself for the last few days. Can anyone help me? Or is my phone garbage?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Depending on your BB10 OS level, this could be a known bug that has been cured in later versions. I recommend you check your OS level and if you are not on 10.2.1.3247 that you immediately update to it via AutoLoader

I have uninstalled Premiere Elements 9 and after that installed it again.
But the message mentioned here above still appears.

When I use the help file a message appears that says there is an update available.:
I click on "download now" but after a short moment appears "download failed"

Who can give me a good advise.
    Thanks very much

Is Premiere Elements 9 a new program for you - has it worked before but not now or has it never been used and/or worked before? It appears that you are trying to run the program on Windows 7 (64 bit assumed).
Right now the only thing that you want to be downloading for Premiere Elements 9 is the 9.0.1 Update. You can do that without Premiere Elements 9 opened with the following download from Adobe via this link
Adobe - Premiere Elements : For Windows : Premiere Elements 9.0.1 update
If you could get into the program, then you could do this update via a project's Help Menu/Update.
    1. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer?
    2. Are you running the program from a User Account with Administrative Privileges and also Run As Administrator applied?
    3. What video card/graphics card does you computer use and is it up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
Does your computer use 1 or 2 video card/graphics card?
    4. Does the problem exist with and without the antivirus program disabled?
Several productive areas of troubleshooting that we may be exploring after more details are supplied include
    1. Deactivation from within the program (if you can get into a project); uninstall the usual Control Panel route; ccleaner run through (regular and registry parts); reinstall with antivirus and firewalls disabled.
CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
    2. Deletion of the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and/or the whole 9.0 Folder in which it exists.
    3. Deletion of the BadDrivers.txt file.
Many of these ideas will require that you be using an active Folder Option for Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives.

  • HELP urgently needed: My Sandberg FireWire for Laptop will not start on my T60

Let me start with information on my T60:
    OS information: Microsoft Windows XP
OS version: 5.10.2600   Service Pack 2
    Processor: x86 Family 6 Model 14 Stepping 8
    Memory: 3.135.856 kb
    BIOS version: 2.09  (79ETC9WW)
    Machine type-Model: 1951A47
I have just got a new Sandberg FireWire for Laptop, a PC Card with 3 6-pins connectiont. After inserting the card in the PC Card slot, the Windows Device Manager tells me that there are problems with the card. Looking at the 1394 Card Properties the status says:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10) - Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."
The troubleshooter did not solve my problem. I have tried disconnecting, re-connection, shut down Windows and start again etc.
At Sandberg Help Desk they tell me that I have two slots in my laptop, one with a 16 bits bus and another with a 32 bits slots, and I should use the latter. It seems that I can use the lower slide only in my laptop and I cannot push the card into the upper slide. There is not enough room for it.
Here is what I found on Lenovo's support site on my type & model:
     PC Card
Conforms to the PC Card Standard 95
    Type II slot
Both the 16-bit Release 2.1 card standard and the 32-bit CardBus card are supported.
Have a look at these screen captures.
What should I do to solve my urgent problem!?

Sounds to me like a driver configuration problem.  Maybe something bad happened during driver install.  I would recommend uninstalling the device from device manager by right clicking on it and hitting uninstall.  Reboot the computer.  Have a go at it again.  Also, test your pcmcia port functionality by finding and plugging in a different card.  See if that works.  It might need repair.

    The status right now is:
The PC Card reader works on my T60
If I use a Firewire PC Card it will not start - as described above (on T60)
The PC Card work properly on my T61P - and I succeeded importing a video file from a digital camera using the Fireswire PC Card.
So what does a wise man do in this situation??
Please help me as I urgently need to know how to solve this serious issue!!
Have you got an idea? Can I import the video in another way??

Try resetting PRAM with cmd-opt-P-R at boot.
Continue holding that combination until the system beeps several times.
there is also an open firware method of doing that, but I can't recall the coorect sequence...
If that doesn't work, try holding down the OPT key at power on. Continue holding until the screen changes. (It shoulf go the the blue screen, then display icons of any drives it finds, including CDs)
Select the drive with the appropriate OS logo superimposed, then click the arrow that points to the right.
If that works, then open the control pane and reselect the appropriate drive as your system startup disk.

    13MB free on internal mem
    4GB free on sd
    30MB free ram
    any ideas ?
im really hoping this (and) many other bugs will have an update soon!

Try to rebbot your phone by simply switching it off, remove the battery, sim and memory card for a couple of minutes and put it back together.
If this does not help then try the following steps:
    - A soft reset by keying in *#7780# when on standby - This will not delete any data but will restore all the settings back to default.
If that does not help then you may wanna try doing a hard reset by keying in *#7370# when on standby - This will reformat the phone. DO NOT FORGET TO DO A BACK UP AS THIS WILL ERASE YOUR ENTIRE PHONE MEMORY.
The security code by default is 12345
Mark me a KUDOS if this has helped...

  • PB will not start up.

My PB (15 inch, Tiger, couple months old, battery not in recall) will not power up. The screen remains black. I have done all of the things in the User's Guide. Option key, Ctrl & Command, removing power and battery and pushing the power key. Nothing works. Ideas? A CD is also in the slot, so I can not start up from the Install disc. Cannot eject the CD.
    Thanks,
    Holbrook

I've also got a PB 15" that will not start up. It's 1.25 GHz, a couple years old.
I've gone through the entire troubleshooting steps recommended at the following link (Apple Knowledgebase article #50959) for PowerBooks that will not start up but nothing works. Have reset the PRAM and the PMU, even swapped RAM cards to make sure it wasn't a bad RAM issue. Nothing
    http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n50959
In my case, when I hit the Power Button the HD spins up and the optical drive spins up (has a CD in there) but the screen never comes on and most of the time it never does the startup chime. Once in a while, it does.
I know the power is on because of the HD & optical noise and the caps lock light on the keyboard functions. It will stay that way with power to the keyboard and drives with nothing coming on the screen indefinitely. Ultimately, I have to force it to shut down by holding the power button down for 10 seconds. Then the keyboard goes off and the HD spins down.
I know the HD is good because I've removed it, put it in external case and accssed it from another computer.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? It's out of warranty now and I'd hate to pay for logic board out of pocket.

    Flip4Mac shouldn't have been a problem.
The Windows version of anything won't run on a Mac, the binaries are different. So no "PC Studio".
So the only thing I see is a Mac version of Kies, which allows you to manage your Samsung phone.
The spec call for a 10.5 or later, is very unlikely to work with 10.6.8 or 10.7, as there was some "changes"
Usually holding shift key while booting disables the third party kext files that cause the computer to freeze, which would allow you to remove the offending ones from your System/Library/Extensions folder.
Your remedy would be to hold c boot off the 10.6 installer disk (or hold command r boot if on 10.7) and simply overwrite OS X with a fresh copy (leaves your files and other programs alone), that will bump out the Samsung hacks in OS X itself, then immediatly software update to 10.6.8.
If you need replacement 10.6 grey disks then call Apple with a credit card and your serial number (about this mac >more info)
There is nothing you can do at this point without a fresh version of OSX 10.6, unless you know where all the Samsung hacks are and can remove them from Single User mode (aka root)

  • Device will not start

Help!! My Z10 will not start and is only getting to 98% on the loading screen. I have connected it to my computer but it will not register.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Try removing the SIM and Media Card, then booting up without those. If that goes OK, shut down normally and put the cards back in, and try to boot up again.
Also, how long do you wait at 98%? Sometimes, things are going on while it appears "stuck", but it's not really stuck...we just have to be more patient. But I cannot tell if you waited 30 minutes, 1 minute, or 5 seconds...

my laptop will not start up - all I get when I push power on button is the power LED flashing the following sequence. S-S-S-S-L-L-L-S(S=SHORT, L= LONG)
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS CODE INDICATES.

    Hello
Unfortunately here is no public document about explanation of those hexadecimal codes and I can not tell you what it means exactly. The fact is that power supply electronic has detects some malfunction and sends code.
Sorry but I dont believe that you can do something alone. Try please to contact service partner in your country and explain them the situation.

Will a dead PRAM battery prevent the computer from starting?
Possibly. Simply disconnect the PRAM battery and see if it starts up. It will start up and run without the PRAM battery, although it will not retain settings without it.
Another possibility is, if you have taken it all apart, the processor card. An improperly seated card will result in a failure to start up. I suggest that you remove the processor card and replace it again.
Note: When replacing the board leave the top RAM module off, press down hard on the front right of the board until you feel the connector snap into place. Press hard, it won't break. It is very important that the card is properly seated or you may not be able to start the computer.
    • Insert RAM module in bottom slot, replace processor board, the insert RAM module in top slot.
