AGP Chipset drivers for Discovery motherboard

I have a Packard bell idelsign 180 with a discovery MS6506 v1.0 motherboard. which is running with Intel 845 chipset. It is currently not loading up correctly - the screen goes black and then eventually recovers during startup.  the error is something to do with graphics accelerator. ATI, who make the video care have suggested that I need to update the chipset drivers for the Intel AGP Controller, which are currently shown as North Bridge Chipset drivers dated 30/7/2001, but I can not find the right drivers. I have had a look on the intel site, and the MSI site, but could not find anythinf suitable.
Any assistance would be gratefully received.
Thank you in advance for your help....

Hello to you both.
As suggested I removed the graphics card and booted up the pc. Right away there were 8 beeps and a gap, followed by 2 beeps and a gap, followed by one beep. From this point it went quiet, so i switched the pc off, reinstalled the card and booted it up again.
During the boot up sequence with the card installed there was one beep immediately after he power button was pressed and before the packard bell logo came up, and another beep between the packard bell logo and microsoft xp logo. It got most of the programs loaded before the screen went black and then took a few minutes to recover and finish loading up. during the loadup stage the cursor was accompanied by an "eggtimer". just before the screen went black the cursor and eggtimer were replaced with a larger eggtimer on its own. - I don't know if that is significant?
Once up and running an error message came up saying that "vpu recover had reset the graphics accelerator as was no longer responding to the graphic driver"......
If the above does not point to an obvious fault and you think there is a chance it could still be the chipset drivers, please could you advise me as to the best ones to use. I have looked on both the intel site and the MSI site but could not find anything appropriate.
Thank you again for your help with this problem.

Read the ReleaseNotes_9.4.0.1026.htm file inside of the ZIP package.
Just install the driver and don't worry about other things.
It's a "generic" one and includes the libraries for most of the chipsets (including yours).

  • Which Chipset Drivers for my MSI K9N6PGM2-V2 mobo?

Hi - I was over on the nVidia website looking for the latest chipset drivers and video drivers for my MSI K9N6PGM2-V2 motherboard.  I am a bit confused about which chipset drivers and video drivers I should use.  Here's the MSI link to my motherboard stats:
    http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=&cat3_no=&prod_no=1863
Question 1 - Can you provide a link to the nVidia website to the correct chipset drivers?
Question 2 - Can you provide a link to the nVidia website to the correct video drivers?
I am about to move my PC's components to a new tower, in addition to reformatting and partitioning my hard drive.  I want to make sure I have the latest drivers.
    Thanks
    Joe

The latest drivers appear to be the ones on the MSI site here: http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1863
The only drivers I found on the nVidia website are much older: http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_winxp32_8.26_11.09.html

  • Win 7 Pro chipset drivers for dc 7100

    Hi
I have a dc 7100 small form factor desktop running XP Pro. I wish to upgrade to Win 7 Pro but Windows Advisor says my chipset is not compatable. When I go to the HP download site for drivers the only drivers on the list are dated 2005. Where can I get the correct ones?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi, Steve:
Below is the W7 chipset driver for your PC.
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=861&DwnldID=20019&keyword=Chipset+inst...
Neither the dc7100 nor the dc7600 are supported by HP for W7 (although the dc7600 runs W7 just fine).
So, you will not find any W7 drivers provided by HP for either model.
The dc7100 has a problem if you have the onboard graphics.  It is not W7 capable. That is why the upgrade advisor is reporting the chipset is incompatible. It means the video chipset is incompatible and it is.
    You will never have Aero.
Install the above chipset driver first and reboot.
I have a a workaround to get the onboard graphics to work so you can change the video resolution and have graphics acceleration:
Download and run this Vista driver from the nc6120 notebook.  You will probably get an unsupported operating system error. Close out of any error windows.
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=US&swItem=ob-472...
Go to the device manager and expand the display adapters section.  Click on the standard vga adapter.
Click on the driver tab. Click on update driver. Select the Browse my computer for software method, and browse to the installation folder that was created when you ran the file.
That will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp34749. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and the driver should install.
Upon reboot, you should have decent graphics but no Aero.
If you want to run all the graphics features of Windows 7, you will need to purchase a W7 capable PCIe x16 low profile video card that includes a low profile bracket that will work with the 245W P/S in your PC.

  • System & Chipset drivers for Mainboard MS-6743?

    Hi,
I have recently purchased a new MSI Mainboard MS-6743  from ebay, but it did not include the System & chipset driver software.
I was told I could download the drivers from the MSI website, but when I search for MS-6743 it returns a result , item not found?

This chart states that it is an 865 GM2 board ( look for it  under " micro Atx)
    http://www.msi.com.tw/html/products/mainboard/mb_htm/mb_comparison.htm
But it does not have a hyperlink
It does look to be that all the 865 G boards use the same system and chipset drivers . Pick your board from this list and download

i checked for usb legacy options. no such luck.
my next step will be to use the windows 7 sdk kit which comes with xperf, xperfview and xbootmgr. these tools should be able to assist me with doing a trace during the boot process.
however if my theory is correct.... the issue doesn't happen during the windows driver boot process but before....
so i will try to do a trace and see what it finds. but in any case, anyone have suggestions on how to do a bios memory dump? preferably while the system is still running or while it is frozen before the post screen.
i really really hate giving up on technical problems. my only other option is to either return the usb drive for warranty and hope i get a new drive with an updated firmware or buy a new usb drive...

  • Has Live Update EVER worked? Trying to download "AMD Chipset Drivers" 970A-G46

I just installed W8 clean, added 8.1, all the updates, and installed Live Update fresh to see if i actually works this time around.
I see that apparently it still is a piece of crap software.
Never have I found this program to take less than several hours / entire day to download something that I allegedly need. It will tell me my BIOS is up to date yet when I go to the MB page and compare the version from BIOS and Live Update, there IS a newer version there (heck it is up to 2.6 and I had a v 1.0B using Windows 7). Even after flashing with USB to 2.6, LU5 is still showing my BIOS version as 1.B0.
I just wound up manually downloading the internet, realtek audio, and usb drivers then installing them myself.
The only file that is missing from the MB page is what Live Update is telling me as "Not Installed": MB Driver /AMD Chipset Drivers/(current version) Not Installed/(online version) 13.101.0.0
I have been waiting at least 30 minutes downloading this file through LU5 which is only at 27%.
Is this even needed? Is the MB page THE DEFINITIVE page for downloads and should I just uninstall LU?

Well, it is an AMD based board, not Intel. Shouldn't the board manufacturer supply the drivers for their own board?
p.s....after letting the one file download for over an hour, there is a corrupt file in it /rolls eyes...I also can't find drivers for an ATI based MB on the AMD website. The only selections for drivers are for graphics cards.
So you didn't get a disk with your motherboard?
Yes, MSI will provide drivers for your motherboard off of their website, or with the disk that came with your motherboard. You had mentioned the newest drivers...the newest drivers will always come from the chip manufacture...ie AMD, Intel, Nvidia, etc.
AMD no longer has a specified chipset driver to the best of my knowledge. They have Catalyst...it pretty much takes care of everything.

  • MSI k9n2 sli platinum - drivers for xp64???

Ok, I bought the MSI K9N2 Platinum SLI 750a motherboard and it has been nothing but trouble since day one.
First, I tried installing various linux distros on it, none of them worked, but I expected that, so it's not really a big deal.
Second, I installed Windows XP 32 bit. It loaded up fine, but whenever I dragged a window across the screen it stuttered and was blocky. I had two spare graphics cards one an NVIDIA GeForce and the other an ATI Radeon. I installed both of these on separate installations of XP 32bit, and neither was picked up correctly by the motherboard. At this point I did a reformat and a fresh install. Then I installed the drivers from the MSI K9N2 driver cd one by one, while restarting the computer between drivers. Lo and behold it worked....however, 32bit XP does not properly pick up all the RAM I have (8g), it only picked up three. So naturally I decided to move to XP 64bit.
Third, So I get Windows XP 64 bit installed and I pop the driver cd in the drive and it wont let me install anything. Weird. So I go to the MSI website and amazingly, the drivers for this motherboard do not exist in 64bit format. At least not that I can find. Please tell me I'm wrong. Also, I can't install the NVIDIA drivers (ie no networking), and the windows drag across the screen like they are stuck in mud.
My question is this: the K9N2 is marketed as 64 bit. It takes a 64 bit cpu. It has RAM slots for up to 8gb...but the drivers don't exist in 64bit format!?!
Please point me in the right direction and tell me that I'm mistaken in this....
    thank you.

You need to look a little harder, they are all listed on this page:

Once you've installed all the mainboard drivers, you then need to install the correct 64bit drivers for your graphics card:

  • K9N Neo-F v.3: what RAID drivers for the floppy?

I downloaded the drivers that are suppose to be for the floppy install during the windows XP setup (using f6).  I found these by using the MSI website and searching for drivers for my motherboard model.  It specifically says they are raid drivers for floppy disk.  After unzipping this file, it creates a main folder called WinXP.  There are two subfolders inside that called "sata_ide" and "sataraid".
now, from my experience windows has to see these drivers on the root of A:\ during installation.  Righ off the bat, I can tell this zip file is improperly formated to be used with a floppy for windows XP installation.  The files within the two subfolders are named the same, so you cant just place all of these drivers on the root drive without overwriting them.
So, I made 3 floppies.  On one floppy I followed the directions given on the site where I downloaded the zip file:  Unzip the file and copy all files to the floppy.  This meant sub folders and all.  I created another floppy with ONLY the sataraid drivers directly in the root of A:.  I created a third with only the sata_ide drivers directly on the root of A:
I created my striped array using 2 WD SATA II drives.  Status is healthy.  Upon installing windows, I hit f6 and inserted my floppy when prompted.  None of the floppies I created worked.  I even went the extra step and formatted and created partitions on each drive.  Still no dice.
I need to know EXACTLY how to create the driver disk for this motherboard.  Links to the drivers or any extra information is greatly appreciated.  Anyone with experience in this realm on this particular motherboard, Id like to hear from you.
Oddly enough, I was able to build a RAID/0 config using an LSI PCI Raid controller and two Ultra 320 SCSI Seagate Cheetahs.  Something I was told prior to that this motherboard would not be able to do.  Now here I am struggling using drivers given to me directly from MSI with HDD's the motherboard completely supports

  • Downloaded drivers for the MS6570 do not WORK - HELP!

    Hello,
I have a fresh install of Windows XP on the MS6570. I've also downloaded the drivers for the mother board from: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/dr...pt_dvr_list.php
    and from:
    http://ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/nForce/5.10/nForce_5.10_WinXP2K_WHQL_english.exe
Unfortunitly, everytime I run the setup program from the downloads, it begin the install process but than immediatly turns off the install, never beginning and finishing the install process. No error messages or anything. I've also just installed SP1 for Win XP from a CD I have thinking this may needed to be installed first, but still had no luck. I truely am thinking the driver downloads for the ms6570 are bad.
Does anyone know of a way that MSI can put working drivers for the ms6570 so they can be downloaded or does anyone know of another site or can provid an FTP to working drivers?? I'm extremely desperate.
    I appreciate any info.

    I appreciate everyone's reply....
Here is what I have done.
I have installed a NIC on my PC, because my on board ethernet will not detect under Windows. I've also went and downloaded SP2 from Microsoft and installed that with all other critical updates. I downloaded the latest version of direct x 9.0c, and the the ms6570 diver's setup to run under win 2000.
Still the results are the same as described above. The driver software downloaded will not run the complete install process. I've than tried to get Windows to detect and update any hardware drives that it can find from the internet and the only driver it found was for the sound card which now works.
I appear to be with the same problem as originally described, and still feel that the drivers may be corrupted that are offered for download. Again.. I'd be happy to pay for a copy if anyone would be willing to burn me an original driver CD. I know the original driver CD does work as this is what I loaded the drivers for my motherboard in the past with.
    Thanks for any help again.
