AGP Driving Value: TNT-2 RIVA

Hello!
I'm trying to figure the best AGP Driving Value  for my TNT-2 RIVA 16MB  video card in my BIOS. I've found several Internet posts suggesting a setting of EA  (234), but that was for the nvidia GEForce chip set, so who knows? Any hints?
My Specs:
K7T Pro2-A (M-6330) - no problems yet!   8o
AMD Thunderbird 850mhz
TNT-2 Riva 128 16mb AGP
128 MB or RAM (will be 192 soon)
Thanx!

Ferget iT! I just bought a GeForce2 card the other day and sent the manufacturer an e-mail about the correct setting. MSI really should have these numbers posted if they are going to force people to interact with a hex value in BIOS.
Who the hex knows what they were thinking? Almost as bad as putting an in-board modem on a mohobard ~ yawn. I hope no "hackers" mysteriously dial behind my other modem and fry my board, then i'd have to buy another one. YIKES!
Thanks for nothing MSI message board folk!

  • AGP Driving value?????

Does anyone know what a good AGP driving value for the Radeon 8500LE would be? I used to have a Tyan Trinity board and a Geforce 2 MX video card. There were optimal settings Tyan supplied to customers for their particular video cards. IS there anything here like that???

There is no recommended values by either ATI or MSI. But I use "EA", so far so good.

  • K7N2 BIOS: AGP Clock Value?

In the release BIOS version for the K7N2, should the AGP clock be kept at default (66mhz) or increased to the clock value of the video card? Oh, if anyone can tell me what ratios to use with 768mb PC2700 RAM in the BIOS, that would be helpful, as well. Thank You.

the agp clock frequency thing runs with personal prefrences.......sometimes a small overclock is good...but not necessary.....
the memory question.....if you are running a cpu with a fsb of 333mhz auto for memory is ok since you have 333mhz ram......but if it is a 266mhz cpu then I would run it @ 1.1 with fsb for best performance all around....this way you can up the fsb of the cpu and always keep you ram in synch.

  • Msi 648 max issues

When i first got this board I was running a p4 2,4b a 3d prophet 2 ti 256 megs ddr 333 (windobond chips ?) 300 watt generic psu, I was pleased with the performance at first i was able to get the fsb up to 147 and had no problems, I upgraded the system with another stick of the same ram a msi gf4 4200 ti and an enermax 450 watt psu.
Right away i had problems with the gf4 Playing some d3d games (ut2003) would cause the system to lock up with the monitor losing signal but the sound still playing, i disabled the onboard sound and added my old Sb live 5.1 disabled sideband and fastwrites with riva tuner. after that the system was a little more stable but now when i up the fsb even 1 mhz i get the same problem the monitor signal is gone and the system wont post i changed some settings in ut2003.ini file and i havent had the problem playing games but the overclock isssue is now puzzling me just overall a weird board I tried to hack the bios with amibcp but apparentlythere is an issue with msi bios and amibcp... would like to have agp driving values or some agp settings in bios to try to resolve this

The soundblaster is in the second slot and the ram chips are identical but i do find the system more stable with only one stick installed with one stick it will run at cas 2 with 2 it only runs 2.5. I dont want to complain about the board but it is definatly a challenge so far Im still better off with this than my via setup

  • FX5200 games problem

first of all, sorry for creating another "FX5200 problem" topic, but i've read the latest ones and im not sure they've got the same problem...
i've just bought a GeForce FX5200 T128. i installed the card and everything, and even downloaded the lastest driver from MSI's site (44.039x)... but most of my games are not even running (that's right they don't even start), apparently a rendering problem as it says on "TRON 2.0 DEMO" and "Morrowind"... and they were working just fine on my previous card (GF2 MX400)
    my system is a Athlon XP1700, ASUS A7S333, 256DDR266
    running windows 98 SE

Good that I found somebody who has a similar problem. You guys on this forum are really good and maybe my last hope.
I have an IWILL K266 mobo with AMD Athlon 1GHz
Processor with VIA chipset. I have the latest BIOS for
the motherboard. I have a couple of issues:
    1. Any 3D game does not run. It either exits silently after the intro video(Starfleet command) or with an error (Ghost Recon)or
with a popup note saying "Cannot open Display Mode"
(Trophy Demo), or does not even start (IL sturmovik demo).
    2. Old Game called Freespace-2 cannot find the
    accelerator card
    3. When I look at the MSI Information Tab under the
Display, I see that the AGP Enable box and AGP4x box is not set. If I try to
set them, it does not allow me to do this. My motherboard
supports AGP4x/2x and its BIOS is set to AGP4x.
    4. Setting the Motherboard BIOS to AGP2x does not
    help.
    5. dxdiag works fine except some MIDI audio test.
    6. I am appending the modified system info. that MSI Live generates. Note that it says the card is “Offline”!! What does this mean?
I have the latest BIOS for the mobo and DirectX9.0b driver and the latest Nvidia drivers provided via MSI Live Utility(MSI drivers don’t work either). The ONLY thing that I do not have is the latest VGA BIOS from MSI. But then, I don’t want to upgrade that until someone tells me that it will solve the problem.
I noted a long thread about a problem similar to mine but affecting the FX5900 cards. However, they have the same problem when running at AGP8X and it works if they move to AGP4X. I tried setting the mobo BIOS to AGP2x but it does not help.
I tried setting the “AGP Driving Value” in my BIOS to EA and E7(Default was DA) with no effect.
Based on another forum thread, I tried to find if there was a Registry entry named “4XAGP” but I could not find any such entry in my local registry.
Can someone please help me before I decide that this card is a pure POS and RMA it back to Amazon before 30 days are over.

  • MSI G4Ti4400-vtd DOA?

I just got a G4 Ti4400-vtd and haven't been able to get it working. I can load W2000 or W98 and everything is fine until I try to play a game or run a DVD.
Then it crashes and freezes my system. Sometimes a black screen with a white cursor, but not always. I have not been able to play a game or video for even a second.
I have tried several clean installs of the OS and reseating the card. I have also tried several MSI and Detonator drivers with no luck. Also have updated motherboard drivers, installed DirectX 8.1 etc.
When I put my old Viper 550 in everything works fine.

I just looked up on this board at Soyo.
    Very impressive.
There was an article on your board and video card issues.
It said to install Via4in1 first.
    Check memory modules.
    Not much help here????
    1)  So what you could try is to install Via4in1, then install your det drivers, install Dx8, then install AGP drivers which are part of Via4in1 but you can download separate from Via.
I would suggest Via4in1 version 4.40 and AGP ver 4.20a.
(as the new ones are beta still)
    2)  Check your AGP voltage in your BIOS and see what is shown.  I don't know anything bout this board but for the Gf4 AGP should be 1.5v.  Also look for anything else in your Bios that could be related to AGP and see what is shown.  Only change things when you feel 100% confident though.  AGP driving value is one you shouldn't touch at the moment but anything else could be fine.
    3)  Do step 1) again but when installing Via4in1 untick Turbo mode and Tick standard.
You should check Soyo site and see what you come up with.  Check on newer drivers etc and check how to change AGP value, if you can.
    Hope this helps some...
    ps just a quick note.
It is usually best when installing new card to redo Operating System from a reformat.

My systems runs great but when i play games sometimes my system crash and (very curios) before about 3-5 min of game play i see small interferences like small  white orizzontal  jolt similar the interference when a cellular phone ring near the monitor. the problem it persists with any resolution and any monitor refresh rate !!!!!
    What i've tested:
I have the lasted KT4 ultra bios, test any Randeon Drivers (include the lasted 779 beta drivers) and lasted via's drivers
Near my monitor there isn't any interference source !!
Monitor is perfect (tested in other system )
it's not Radeon8500 problem because i play games perfectly in other system (a7v266 and same hardware)
KT4 are not damaged because i play game perfectly with another video card (geforce2 Mx400)
It's not a PSU problem because i replaced AMD athlon 2000 + with AMD Athlon 900 (the rest hardware is the same) and the problem it persists.
although i have 5 years experience under PC assemblage  ,   I do not know that what to make!!!
is There an incompatibility with Radeon8500 and KT4 Ultra  ??
Please someone can help me ???  ;(   ;(

It might be the AGP driving value problem. Set it to EA in BIOS. It works for most people with components like yours.  If that does not help, switch to AGP 2x and see if the problem went away. If it did, look for other DGP Driving values and turn off some AGP related features (sideband, fastwrite etc)
    If that did not help,
See this post and try to draw come conclusions. Sometimes the Power Supply is at fault not because of being underpowered (which you checked with Athlon 900) but because of the incorrectunstable voltages and other similar crap. With 266Mhz fsb and 333Mhz memory interface the boards now are too sensitive to cheep power supplies.

  • GF 4200 only works with AGP 2x

    Hi,
few days ago I bought a MSI GF 4200 TD64. One problem: Everytime I tried 3D mark 2001 it locks up. Computer hangs, only hard reset is possible. Hm, newest driver etc. Last I tested was BIOS settings. If I disable AGP 4x and set this value to 2x all works fine (!?)
Board = Asus KT7A Raid with newest BIOS (7N). Maybe there is an other setting that has negative influence to AGP settings (AGP aperture size or something???)
    Any Idea?
    Regards Frank

    Hi,
    thanks for your answer!
I tested a bit last night...
    >Aparature size shouldn't be more than 128. 64 is a >good round number though.
Jepp 64 is OK, I thought about playing with the "AGP Driving Control" settings, but 2 Hex digits = 16 x 16 possibilities  8o
    >Have you the 28.90 drivers? Try 29.42 or the 30.30.
Oh, no I tried the 27.20 from MSI page...maybe no good idea...
    >Turn of all CPU enhancements(fast cpu, drive strength >1 or 2, enhance chip performance). FSB at standard >133/33 or 100/33
    >and ram at cas3.
    >Update the VIA 4in1 and install with TURBO mode t>icked.
Maybe it is related to this settings, when I load BIOS defaults and turn on AGP 4x then 3d mark runs through. But I like my "turbo" settings  :D  and my value ram with cas 2. I think I will test the latest Nvidia driver. The problem up to now only exists in 3dmark - maybe the other stuff works fine...

  • KT3 Ultra2 + Heavy AGP usage = crash & beeps on reboot

PROBLEM: (story has 2 very exciting parts)
Part 1: When start using apps with intencive accellerated graphics, the computer gives a blank screen and hangs there forewer. After a while, monitor goes into powersaving mode.
Ex.: After passing the 1st, low-res (truck) test on Sysmark2001 successfully, sysmark happily and consistently hangs on the hi-res (truck) test.
Part 2 (More Interesting part): After the computer goes into blank screen (explained above), I push "reset" button and get:
     - no picture
     - several beeps (8 or 9). It is hard to say how many beeps; they all a short and first one is Very abrupt.
     - The "D-"-whatever lights show code for "Testing RTC (Real Time Clock)"
     - same thing happening no matter how many times I press reset. I have to unplug the computer for a while to make it boot normally.
    SYSTEM INFO:
    MSI KT3 Ultra2 mobo
    Athlon 1800+ CPU
PowerColor Radeon 8500 based 128meg AGP video card.
    No-name manufacturer 256mb PC2100 DDR RAM sticks
    No-name manufacturer 400W PSU
all my other cards were removed for/while troubleshooting.
    THINGS TRIED:
Since the "issue" continues after reboot, I immediately rule out the software problems. (though I did reinstall windows and tried other/newer chipset and video drivers for the heck of it)
    - used 1 other memory chip (different brand) (no help)
    - Used the Video card and memory in other computers (work fine)
    - used other mobo (asus A7V133) and parts with the case and PSU (works fine)
    - updated bios (no help)
    - changed AGP Driving vale, AGP speed (1x,2x,4x), memory timing, disabling/enambling anything possible in BIOS. (none helped)
    THINGS DID NOT TRY:
(I do not have unlimited budget, you know..)
    - Another brand of accellerated video card (what is the point? I like my Radeon8500-128mb and it works with other boards. If KT3 is incompatible, screw KT3)
    - Did not try another PSU (Do not have any better than the one I have.) If it is a problem, I do not mind buying a new one. But, is IT the problem?
    - What else did I not try? You tell me.
    WHAT I SUSPECT:
    - Motherboard has electrical problems, or
    - My PSU may be underpowered (but why the problem continues during the low-power bootup?)

Thenk you guys for such a prompt response
    Let me address your questions/comments
    > (maesus) Did you try - Load BIOS Setup Default
    Yeah, I tried that.
    > (maesus) do not overclock, everything goes default
I am a heat, noise and temperature control freak. I never overclock. I am more likely to underclock than overclock. Incidentally, I did try to underclock the FSB and memory to 100Mhz in order to see if the problem goes away. - It does not go away.
    > (maesus) Update VIA 4-in-1 drivers to 4.43v and ATI Catalyst to 2.3
I tried Via 4-in-1 v 4.43, 4.41. I tried Catalyst 2.3 and 2.2. As for trying older drivers, my philosophy is the following: If the board makes me downgrade drivers and features in order to be functional, I get rid of the board, not the features. Downgrading Via 4-in-1 does not make much of a difference. Downgrading Catalyst further brings performance and features down significantly enough.
    > (maesus) My suggestion to the AGP Driving signals is EA.
Thanks for the suggested value. It is so hard to find things like this. I looked all over the net and PowerColor groups to find values that work, and found none that match my system. I did try this value, though. I keep a list of values that usually work for me, and EA is one of them. Nothing from my list worked.
As a side-note, setting AGP to bellow 4x usually makes Driving Value setting irrelevant. On my previous boards, I would set AGP to 2x and Driv Value to Auto - the board would usually work OK. With KT3 though, The problem consistently happens even at AGP 1x.
    > (maesus) Please try another more powerful PSU, borrow first before you buy
I will try this later in the week.
    > (hjongste) You may need to clear CMOS first. Sometimes there is more to it than just shorting the jumpers. Read my page on this.
That is a neat site you have! I will try your suggestion later in the week. Right now the board is back in the box.

  • TI4600 Stability

    Hi,
I have a MSI GF4 TI 4600 in my PC and I have just recently upgraded my processors to use the full capabilities of the card.
    Current Setup:
     - Gigabyte - GA6VTXD - Motherboard Running Dual PIII 1.4's
     - MSI 8872
     - 756Mb Ram (PC150)
     - Seagate Barra IV's
     - OS Win XP  with NVidia 29.42 drivers
Hence I would like to play the games at reasonable resolutions (1024x768 and up) but I am finding that when I up the resolution from 800x600 (or lower) the machine simply is locking up.
I have been running SETI for hours, and no lock ups, but when going into Nascar 2002, it will lock immediately at 1024x768, but runs fine on 800x600 (x16), and will lock after a while on 800x600x32.
It is very strange, if anyone has any suggestions of what to try it would be appreciated.
    AP.

I have a similar problem with my MS-8872.   :(  I have, however, spent a week carefully isolating the problem.
    Problem symptoms:
    1) During DVD playback (using the bundled MSIDVD (InterVideo WinDVD) 3.1 or a copy of InterVideo WinDVD 4.0), the machine totally locks-up after 0-40 minutes of playback.  The only remaining operating interface is the power/reset buttons.  It has been repeatedly observed that after ~15 minutes of being locked up, the machine reboots itself.
    2) During looping MPEG playback in Apple QuickTime 5 and 6, the above described lock-up is generated.
    3) During play of the bundled games (AquaNox, sacrifice, and No One Lives Forever (1)), the above described lock-up is generated.
    Relevant Hardware:
Gigabyte GA-7VRXP V.2.0 (with F11 BIOS -- disabled all USB, serial, parallel, IDE RAID, Ethernet, audio, 2nd IDE)
    Athlon XP 1800+
    2 x 512MB DDR/266 ECC registered SDRAM DIMMs
    MSI GF4 Ti 4600 (MS-8872)
    Relevant software:
    Win98SE
    DirectX 8.1b
(media players and games as listed above)
    Relevant drivers:
    Via 4-in-1 v. 443v
    Adaptec FMS v. 3.0.3
    nVidia 30.82 (and earlier)
Although additional hardware is present and different BIOS versions and software drivers were used in isolating the problem, in the fully configured machine, the isolation process reduced the machine to this configuration in the process of identifying which component was causing the failure.
With the above configuration, failure was *not* observed by replacing the video card with:
        Diamond V770 Ultra (TNT2 Ultra, 32MB),
        Eagle GeForce3 Ti 500 (64MB), or
        ChainTech GeForce4 Ti 4600 (128MB).
In all these cases, the machine was able to loop DVD playback, MPEG playback, and idle the above games for >40 consecutive hours.
Therefore, the problem with Ti4600 playback has been isolated to the MSI card.  Further, it has been demonstrated that this is not an issue of interaction with other hardware (none was present).  Finally, it has been shown that substantially similar hardware (the ChainTech card) was able to successfully operate without difficulty.
The following additional remedies were taken:
    1) Underclock the MSI video card to its minimal settings.
    2) Replace the HD and reinstall the OS and abovementioned software in a minimal configuration.
    3) Remove the DVD player and only play back content from the HD (in case the DVD player was causing trouble).
    4) Move the MSI card to another machine and observe that identical failure is observed.  (This last was performed as follows: for 13 repetitions, randomly assign the MSI card and the ChainTech card to two substantially different machines.  Start both machines looping the same content.  Observe which machine failed first.  In all 13 cases, the machine with the MSI card failed first.  The probability of this occurring if both cards were equally likely to fail first was 1/8192 ~= 0.012%.)
    5) Configured motherboard to be maximally conservative: slowest RAM timings, underclocking the processor and RAM, various combinations of AGP aperture, PCI write combining, et c..., and whatever Gigabyte thinks "Fail-safe" settings are. AGP compensation values were not manually adjusted (as there is no documentation about the effect of this setting from Gigabyte nor the ideal range of this setting from MSI).
Thus, despite extraordinary isolation efforts (not available to most home video enthusiasts), no method was found to eliminate the failure of this card under heavy video load.
    Miscellaneous items:
Note that this motherboard (GA-7VRXP) is known to require significant current at 3.3V.  Most GeForce4 Ti cards also require substantial 3.3V peak current.  The power supply in this machine is easily rated to 130% of the stated peak current requirements of all the components at each supplied voltage.  (The original 400W P/S was found to be more suited to driving large HD arrays and was replaced for this reason.)
    Question (finally!):
So, how do I make this rather expensive video card outperform the $40 TNT2Ultra I've got lying around as a spare part?

  • After upgrade w/ NV37GL. No GDM. Nvidia? Nouveau? Neither works.

I may have jacked up Video Drivers, but I've now tried just about every combination there of & have either not been able to get into Gnome, or if I do it operates like garbage.
    First some background:
    $ lspci | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation NV37GL [Quadro PCI-E Series] (rev a2)
Based on Archlinux Wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nouveau & https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nvidia, I've determined that I think I should be using either nouveau-dri & xf86-video-nouveau (also requires mesa-libgl), or nvidia-173xx & nvidia-173xx-utils. I've tried both, both are unsuccessful. Hope to provide all relevant info below.
    Nouveau
From the beginning of boot, this appears to be working the best. My resolution looks good on boot (after the nouveau module loads), it brings up a decent looking login screen, but when I login: "Oh no! Something has gone wrong. A problem has occurred and the system can't recover. Please log out and try again."

  • Kt3ultra2 and geforce cards (my experience)

Well... I thought that I should share this with the rest of you.  Especially those having problems making the kt3ultra2 happy with geforce cards.  I RMA'd one board, but the new one I got did the same thing.  The problem was the 'random reboot' in 3d games.  I addressed all issues from heat to power etc.. timing, driving value, driver versions (4in1 and nvidia)... bla blah.   Here are my findings:
I could never get a geforce2 ti or mx to work with this board without crashing in bf1942 and in medal of honor.  I tried two vendors for the geforce2 cards.  Perhaps others will have better luck (I know some have) but I blame incompatibilities on the card maker (not the GPU maker).  Mine was an AOpen gf2ti, a friends, a visiontek gf2mx.
A friends geforce4 440mx worked great (chaintech) and so did the geforce4 4200 ti (gainward brand, red board just like kt3ultra2!) that I ended up buying.  With both of the geforce4 cards, I used a dram voltage (system ram) of 2.6.  I also enabled fast write on my agp bus.  I have read elsewhere that dram voltage can go down under load and that bumping it up to 2.6 will privide more tollerance to dropping below the 2.5 requirement (or something to that nature).  I found that it DID make the system stable with this gf4 and my two pc2700 dimms.
As of now, my system is stable (finally).  One thing I can say for the kt3ultra2 is that it really is agp picky.  I don't know if this is common to all kt333 chipsets or not but I can safely say that gf2's just *don't work* with this board in my experience.  There are many cases of people with it working though so like I said earlier.. it's probably the array of card makers that are causing this.

That's weird. I have a KT3 Ultra2BR mobo, and actually it happily accept any agp card I put on it. I have tried the original geforce2 mx, geforce2 titanium, geforce4 ti 4200, radeon 7000, also the ati rageII, and a few others. All is accepted and work well. I used the gf4ti 4200 most, and I have never had any BSOD/error or any problem at all, although I used a cheapie 300W PSU (the PSU is so awful that my 3.3Volt line dropped to 3.00 volt).

  • How to add addtitional pages in design view?

How do I create additional pages in design view?  I have tried using NEW PAGE AFTER, but that doesnt add another page in design view, like I need.
I am creating a report that uses 8 subreports per page to dynamically create labels.  Currently I have a report header, and am using the page header to arrange the subreports so the top of each subreport prints on the top of each label.  The fields in the subreports can grow, and fill in the label from the top down.
I need to create a multiple pages using this format, but I dont know how to add more pages in design view.  Essentially I need subreports 1-8 on page 1, 9-16 on page 2, etc.  I would like to preserve the formatting I have created thus far, but I can always change it if I have to.

In attempting to create the label sheets I needed, I ended up creating 14 separate reports (which report on 6 individual queries), because there are 14 pages worth of labels that need to be created.  What I wish to accomplish is to condense these 14 reports down to 6 reports.  One for each query.  What I absolutely cant find a way to do, is to get Crystal Reports to allow me to customize subreports on consecutive pages.  Again, I have 8 subreports on each page, which have been formatted to fit on 8 labels when printed.  Each subreport is identical in design, but has a different range selected (i.e. my driving value in each subreport has been modified with Select Expert to be between 1 and 5, or 6 and 10, or 11 and 15).  This is how I have been able to return 5 consecutive results on each label, with the next label returning the following 5 results.
My ultimate question:  Is it possible to create a multi-page report using this method?

  • Ideal BIOS Settings for online gaming

this is my 1st computer that i built. i have a lot of experience in wiring high-end electronics, so wiring this little rig with barely any visible wires/cables was a breeze. I bought the processor/mobo with the intention of only doing minor O/C as i dont really know all that much on the hardware side of improving performance. with that said, i've searched for timings and settings for my specific combination, and i cant find any. again, i dont really want to push the config past a safe level, as i will be selling this machine when the 64's come down in price. can someone help me set the proper frequencies/timings? i have a lot to learn, and even in the normal bios settings i don't know if certain things should be enabled or disabled for my main purpose, which is to simply play 3D online games very  fast. i will be changing out the GeforceFX5200 PCI for a 5600 AGP in a week or so. I'm noticing that my old Comcrap PIII 1.0Ghz w/512SDRAM with this video card gets just as good a ping ingame as this rig does. the machine starts quickly, runs offline programs quickly, but online it isnt as fast as i'd hoped. from what i've read in the other forums, there are many settings in the bios that are enabled by default that don't need to be. can someone help me decipher which settings are useful and which are not. i loosely understand some of the settings but if someone could help with the questions below and/or do a walkthru for bios geared toward gaming i'd really appreciate it. The machine runs very cool (CPU 104*F/SYS 93*F) but i dont know what else needs adjustment. I simply want to make this machine go as fast and as hard as it can with the right config. i don't want to unlock the processor yet or do anything else major at this point.
1: Best yet safe Voltage for my processor and RAM
    2: FSB clock; 133 or 166? had problems @ 200
    3: S.M.A.R.T. on or off?
4: Best IRQ/PCI slot for video card
5: "GoodMEM" utility: how much should i safely allot?
    6: Video BIOS Cacheable?
    7: Multiplier setting for K7N2DeltaL & XP2600+
8: VGA Aperture (my card is 128MB but PCI. upgrading soon)
i'll be learning more as i go along, so i dont really need a full explanation of what's what, lol THIS TIME. all i need is a rundown where someone tells me what to leave alone, and what to change for a very fast yet safe gaming rig

    OK I'm officially confused.
I bought the retail boxed AthlonXP2600+, which clearly states on the packaging "With 333 MHZ Frontside Bus". i bought the board over others, one reason being it supported 400MHz FSB. I go into "Advanced Chipset Features" and when i set the "System Performance" to "Manual", i can then go into the "CPU FSB Clock" settings, but the max it will allow me to go to is 233MHz (which won't boot and i have to flip the jumpers. when i had set it to 200MHz before, it failed to boot as well... PLEASE can someone look over these settings and tell me the OPTIMAL settings for taking this combo as fast as it can go w/o overclocking? What am i doing wrong? what multiplier do i need to be at. I'm under the impression that the combo works best when the clock speed of the board is at the same speed as the processor. here are the  BIOS settings with which i need advice:

I do currently have a PCI GeForceFX5200 8o, but im getting an AGP FX5600 this week. i know my card has nothing to do with AGP, but i've left most of the AGP settings alone since i'll be using it later. is this creating a bottleneck or tying up system memory to have it this way for now?
    FREQUENCY/VOLTAGE CTRL
    AGP Clock Value [Default]
    xAGP Clock Value [66]
    AGP Voltage Adjust [1.5V]
    DRAM Voltage Adjust [2.7V]
    CPU Ratio [By H/W]
    CPU Vcore Select [By H/W]
    PCI Clock Auto-Detect [Enabled]
Again, I have an 333MhzFSB Chip and a board that will support up to 400MhzFSB. help!

should i select fsb/dram ratio 1-1? i find my pc run better at by SPD...
yes. 1:1 is always faster aslong as the memory can keep up with the cpu.

    3. if fsb/dram ratio is by spd, my bios will show -> dram clock for ddr= 333mhz. If i select fsb/dram 1:1, my bios will show dram clock for ddr = 266mhz.. pls explain to me why?
