AGP showing up as PCI?

Hey all... I have a 865G Neo 2... first off, in the BIOS, there are no options for any AGP settings, like 8X, stuff like that... when i boot my computer up, it shows my AGP 5200 as on the PCI bus? I am confused!

It's showing correct if it's detected as PCI Bus. In BIOS, you'll have to go to PNP/PCI Config> Init Graphics Adapter Priority> Set to "AGP/Int-VGA".
Here's a picture of my detection in Windows:
To see if you are running AGP mode, go to Display Adapters>Properties>General Tab.

  • Fx 5900 U with agp 8x runs in pci mode

I just bought a msi fx9500 ultra card with 8x agp but the configuration box shows it as a agp card running in pci mode, when i run dxdiag i cant enable agp.
i want the card to run in agp 8x mode, does someone knows a solution for this problem please help i am sure my mainboard supports 8x agp.
my harware congig looks like this:
    Intel 3.00 ghz
    1024 mb ddr kingston memory
875 p neo lsr mainboard from msi
    120 gb maxtor harddisk
and the msi geforce fx 5900 ultra vtd256 with 256 mb ddr

NewGamer you are running a system that locks you out of alot of the BIOS settings. An Intel board would work real good. It will give you most stable platform to build on and compatiblity second to none. only problem I have had with my new system was all ths crap software that came with the MSI video card. just make sure that after you install the operating system that u install the Chipset drivers first thing. by doing this it updates the INF files and things will be configured right. In the BIOS always have the plug and play OS set to NO that way windows will get it's instuctions from the system board for configuring things. and by the way my last system was a P3 933MHz with 512 MBs ram and a MX 440 card it played BF1942 fine, nice and smooth. I just lost alot of one on one fights the speed was not there.

  • Pci-e 3.0 not showing..Only PCI-e 2.0...I7 3770k and GTX 660 TI-Z77a-G43

I am hoping this is an easy one for all of you....I just built another Msi Board...Board in the title....
I enabled Pci-e 3 in Bios-before I even installed the operating system.....so after all the updates...all the drivers....100% ready for retail..
I downloaded Gpu-Z,,,,,,showing up as Pci-e 2.0.....so i did the render test and it stayed at 2.0...did not climb to 3.0....
This is my first combo---Pci-e 3.0 board and Processor.....am I missing a setting?
    speccs....
    I7 3770k----Z77a-G43.......GTX 660 Ti DC2......Windows 7 Ultimate....
and yes at first i thought it was speed stepping it down....But when I ran the render test that Gpu-z has....it maxed everything and never showed at 3.0....
    Thanks
Hey Mods.....I messed up and put this post with the amds......Sorry

I hate replying to my own Post..But i figured just encase, somebody else has the issue....They will know ,it is not just you..It is on most boards, with the older bios....If I would have posted in the right forum..Intel..LOL!!!!I would have found the answer right off the back...
This board need the beta Bios...Not a big deal, But as for right now..It is running great. No need for a bios update. Because there would be no performance gains at all...maybe 2 or 3 fps...Not even enough to make it worth it. My board is running great and I will leave Great alone.
Most Vid Card can not take advantage of the Pci-e 3.0 slots...and from what i read it will be about 3-5 years before we can get cards to take advantage...That kind of bite, But what can you do.........Thanks for reading if I have wasted your time...
These are not Facts--This is Just stuff I read on other post and forums...I could be 100% wrong......

  • AGP Graphics card covers pci slot 2 & Problems with sound card

I have already posted this on another part of the forum.
Hi i have an M Audio Delta192 Audiophile soundcard which is not working fully
i have been on the phone to the M Audio technical support about this
my problem is apparently i need to put the pci Soundcard card into the first slot after my graphics card which would be slot no 2
my graphics card has a fan on top which covers pci slot no 2 so the next available slot is slot 3 which is where i have my soundcard now
a lot of the functions available are greyed out in the M Audio Delta control panel this is the software used to control the parameters of the soundcard
is this right do i have to install my Soundcard in slot no 2 for it to work correctly
if so is there any way around this
my graphics card is a ATI Radeon 9800 XT
if there is no way around this are there any agp cards that i can get that dont have a great big fan on top that covers pci slot 2 that are good quality & can run 2 monitors
i cant seem to find any

    Hi J D Knight
I'm Pretty sure it is this is what it has under my system profiler
    ATI Radeon 9800 XT:
    Chipset Model: ATY,R360
    Type: Display
    Bus: AGP
    Slot: SLOT-1
    VRAM (Total): 256 MB
    Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
    Device ID: 0x4e48
    Revision ID: 0x0000
    ROM Revision: 113-A14404-123
this was the graphics card installed when i bought the powermac
i understand the reasons for the fan as i am led to believe it is a powerfull card
but my main use is for audio is it true about the pci slots do i need to have my soundcard in slot 2 as M-Audio have told me if so then i do need to change my graphics card so i can get my soundcard working as it should
the only thing i need is my dual screens

  • Geforce FX with agp speed 0.0 (PCI mode)

    Someone!! Help!!
Here is a brief description of the problem. I have a geforce FX and MSI K7N2G mainboard and I installed asus nvidia detonators. Once I uninstalled them (if you have a asus card I strongly reccomend not instaling the drivers) and installed 100% pure nVidia drivers. The problem is when I go to the hardware or agp tab in Geforce FX controll panel thingy, it says AGP 0.0 (Pci mode). I reinstalled nForce drivers, nothing helps.
    Someone!! Help!!
     ?(  ;(  ;(  ?(

Have you tried reinstalling the exact same drivers that it will not let you uninstall? If the reinstall is successful you should be able to uninstall them after you reboot. If you still cannot uninstall them after a reinstall you may have to reinstall the OS.

  • MSI KT3 Ultra ARU PCI/AGP divider

    Hey,
I'm using the overclocking features on the board, but i can't find the PCI/AGP adjustment in the BIOS, any body know what i can do??
I'm using the latest BIOS which is 5.6
    Cheers

Ah, now thats what i've been told but according to Sisoft Sandra my AGP is 86Mhz and PCI is 43Mhz so itdon't look like its kicked in.
Any advice, do i have a dodgy board?

  • Hmmm.... Original 16 Meg ATI AGP Rage 128 Pro or 32 Meg ATI PCI Mac 7000 ?

I have both of these cards installed in my 466 (soon to be 733) MHz DA tower.
Which one should I be using for best all-around performance ???
    M

    Jeff sez:
The Radeon GPU is better/faster than the older Rage 128 Pro. In addition to having more memory, the Radeon cards have DDR SDRAM, as opposed to the SDRAM found on the Rage card. The performance difference between the two cards is noticeable, so I'd go with the Radeon.
    I sez:
To check out the difference between PCI vs AGP video performance I used a 22 inch LaCie set at millions of colours on my AGP Graphics Digital Audio G4 tower, I installed two contemporary video cards in it and then ran only the video component of XBench on the computer twice, once with the monitor connected to each card and nothing connected to the other. The results were more or less what I expected, but they were interesting. The two cards I used for the test were both ATI cards. One of them was the 16-meg Rage128 Pro AGP card that came stock in my 466 MHz DA G4 tower and the other was a theoretically much better 32-meg DDR ATI Radeon PCI 7000 Mac Edition. The only other installed PCI card (besides the Radeon 7000) is a VIA Vectro VT6212L USB 2.0 card.
When the video testing was all finished the AGP card, with 16 Megs of VRAM, scored considerably higher than the 32-meg PCI card in every category of the test. The overall XBench score for the computer, with no other changes, was 32.08 with the PCI video card and 38.04 with the Rage 128 Pro AGP graphics card installed. Frames per second for spinning squares results were 55.58 with the PCI card, 65.77 with AGP. What was most notable was the Text results: only 2.13 thousand characters per second with the 32-meg DDR Radeon 7000 Mac Edition versus a whopping 5.12 thousand characters per second with the 16-meg AGP card.
I suspected the AGP was better than PCI but I did not expect a 16-meg AGP card to overwhelm a PCI card with 32MB of double data rate memory. Live & learn.

  • MSI 694T Pro AGP and PCI clocks in OC

    Hi!
I wonder about when raising FSB on this motherboard; will there be any divider for the pci and agp clocks, so the pci stays at 33 mhz so I don't mess up any hardware there? And what about the AGP?  ?(
    specs are as follows:
    1.2 celeron (100*12)
    ATI Radeon 7500
I'll be happy for all responding!  )

No, there is no sign any such a device in the boot up information, which is a bit strange isn't it? It lists my other stuff o.k. - see below.
What other PCI cards do you have?
    I have the following installed:
Network Adaptor 1: Realtek RTL8139(A)-based PCI Fast Ethernet Adaptor. The driver for this must be included in Win 2000 as I didn't have to install anything for it.
Network Adaptor 2: BT Speedway ISDN PCI Card Rev. A (Win 2000). I had to install the driver for this from the supplied CD.
Video Adaptor: NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 M64/M64 PRO. I installed the latest unified driver from NVIDIA (Version: 44.03
    Release Date: May 14, 2003).
What puzzles me most is that when I rebuilt the system I started out with just the video card installed and no other adaptors (the card was using the Microsoft supplied driver) and there was no sign of the sound system then. So, unless there is something fundamentally wrong with the motherboard surely the sound should have been detected?
Cheers and thanks for your help.

the driver seems to be failing to show the output (what the visuals do?)/do some stages of processing. It is odd that direct rendering would seem to be "true" yet not have the visuals available to show it. (the errors like (WW) AIGLX: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x32)
previously this box had direct rendering, (using an older version of the same driver in testing)
not sure when it got broken because I wasnt using it for a while
    thanks for your input

Pretty delayed update, but this was just an error in the xorg.conf: apparently something got changed, so regenerating the config with X -configure generates one that worked well.

  • Radeon 7500 AGP identification problem

I think I may have asked before, but I don't remember.  My system specs are listed below.  My problem is that my Radeon 7500 AGP card shows up as PCI under properties in the hardware listing.  Why is this?  Is it a problem?
    Thanks

You might have to enable APIC to get more irqs for your devices. But could cause trouble.
Also here is the newest Catylist drivers from Ati
They are newer than on the Power color site.

I momentarily lost track of this thread. :D
Yes, more than 16.  I'm pretty sure there are 22.  I don't have any sharing now except for the USB, they all share the same IRQ.  I don't have any device conflicts, so that's good.
    Thanks for the link.

  • Cant get AGP to work..NEO2

    Hello!
I cant get agp-cards to work, PCI work flawlessly.
    Msi k8 neo2
    AMD 3500+ NC
    OCZ psu
    gskill
Yes i know the agp cards work.
The computer boots everytime, it just wnt show me any picture with an agp card..
If i wiggle the card around abit i can get a picture for like 2 sec..
I have no idea whats the problem is, altough i have read about others who have the same problem..
    /murmlos

    I have a 9500pro with a 9700pro bios.
    325/300
I could not get the fastwrite or the agp to 8x until I reloaded xp pro.
I still do not know what the problem was.  I did go to ATI drivers, after the omega drivers were removed and used a reg cleaner.
working good now but I do not know what was wrong.
that and my raid issues may me crazy

  • Overclocking MSI 6600GT AGP VTD128

I am really confused on the memory clock and core clock on my video card.  I thought that my memory clock was supposed to be 1000Mhz, but it really shows 900Mhz
Also, the 2D Clock is at 300 and i don't know if that is correct or not
Can someone tell me what good speeds for the 2D Clock and 3D Clock and the Memory Clock are?
I am now running 300 for 2D, 500 for 3D, and 900 for memory clock
    thanks

Your card is running at the nvidia reference specs for an AGP 6600GT.  The PCIe card has a mem clock at 1000.
Some vendors run at 1000 - I had the Inno3D with 300/500/1000 as stock.  This card did not overclock at all and beware - HEAT is the big problem with these cards, unless you buy a 3rd party HSF or go water cooled.
You should be able to OC the memory to 1000 but the core is pot-luck, just don't go too high.

  • The properties in Device Manager says my vid. card is PCI!!!

Of course it's AGP, why does it show up as PCI?

I take it that it will say "PCI-bus 1, apparatus 0, function 0", or something alike ... It is supposed to be that way  )
