AGP Slot Compatibility
I own a K7T Turbo limited edition Mobo which is only version 2.0 4/2 X AGP, but I had just bought an FX5900 Ultra Graphics card b4 realising. As it is version 3.0 8/4/2X AGP, should I send it back for refund or is it possible to install and run it without causing it to explode?
Also if it is not compatible, what motherboard would you recommend me to buy given that I have an Athalon 1800+ palomino chip & no current intentions to buy CPU?
Thanks for any help
It is possible to use it without any explosions.
What good is a Racing car if you are not going to race in it?
To get value for money you need a better mobo.

[GeForce 6] will this 8x card work on my 4x agp slot
I j upgraded from a fx 5900xt and I just purchased a msi nx6600gt-vid128 card( agp) . I have a p4 2.2 , 1gig rd ram and a 400 front side bus (p4 lexington motherboard). I have 2 questions
1) will this 8x card work okay on my 4x agp slot. The packaging says that the card requires a 8x compliant mainboard, but tech support say they are backward compitable to 4x agp slot. tOon newegg.com where i bought it is says it is a 4x/8x card. I am confused . my fx5900xt was a 8x card and worked on my 4x slot.
2)Is driver 71.89 okay to use with this card. I heard 77.72 has problems. what about 77.50 or 77.77 driversany agp x 4 board should be fine
just it will run a percent or so slower than in a x8 board
all you need to do with 77.72 is go in drivers

MSI G31TM-P21 and the sapphire HD 4850 single slot compatibility issues?
Here's my specs
Antec 500 watt Earthwatts
4 gb KByte DDR2 ram
500 WD IDE
Q9550S
SATA DVD+RW DL
DLink PCI Wireless
Diamond xs51 sound card
Windows 7 Ultimate X64
In this mobo there are checksum issues with this card that the 9600 GT never had. I know because after i got the first checksum, i removed the card and reinserted the 9600 GT . no checksum. switched to 4850, checksum Here was what I did to try to remedy this
1. Cleared the jumper cable, checksum
2. Removed CMOS battery for 15 minutes and reinserted, checksum
3. Upgraded BIOS from 4.1 to 4.4 via liveupdate. Still checksum but the latest BIOS feels a lot smoother
4. repeated step 2 after the BIOS update, checksum
5. added a Visiontek juicebox, checksum as it's not a Power issue
I seriously doubt it's the voltage battery because it's a new mobo and i never got the checksum error on the 9600 GT.
Can someone help me please?
What issue you have

What 4 "gb" && "Kbyte" ?
What memory sticks you use? Exact models and how many are they?

HD4670 AGP doesn't boot on MSI K8N Neo-3 (AGR Slot)
Hello,
First of all let me say that this forum has helped me a lot when I was searching for a modified BIOS for my laptop and I've gathered a lot of useful information from here.
Now to my problem - I recently bought a used MSI K8N Neo-3 in the quest to build the "ultimate" 754+AGP slot PC.
The problem is that my HD4670 AGP doesn't work because the AGR slot doesn't support it.
Can someone please make a modified bios that supports HIS HD4670 1GB DDR3 AGP ?That is not possible. An AGR slot is NO AGP slot. It is basically a modified PCIe slot with limited backwards compatibility with AGP. It is only used on few MSI boards and will only work with few compatible cards as it is no AGP slot as I already said. It's a technical limitation and no bios compatibility issue.
MSI didn't list a warning and compatibility list for fun:
Quote from: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/K8N-Neo3.html#/?div=Detail
The AGR slot is a special design that only supports compatible AGP VGA cards. For more detailed information on compatible AGP VGA cards, please refer here
As you can see your card is not listed but only very few way older cards are.
The HD4670 on the other hand is a PCI-E gpu modified with a bridge chip to support AGP. So you have a double modification that simply can't work. Use a native PCI-E vga and be glad. As your board only supports PCI-E Gen1 prefer a Nvidia vga if going for a current card to prevent compatibility issues with AMD Gen2/3 cards. -
MSI KT3 ULTRA2-C and AGP compatibility
Hi, I'm just about to buy a new motherboard these days, MSI KT3 ULTRA2-C, with an XP 2000/2000+ and memory, but not a new video card, since i can't afford it right now. I only have an AGP Creative 3D Blaster Banshee 16 MB, but it is a 3.3v agp card (AGP 1.0). I was wondering if this motherboard can support it, i checked in a lot of places, including the manual and it doesn't say anything about the voltage it can take, neither if the AGP slot is universal or not (i.e. if it can support both 1.5/3.3v or only 1.5v). The manual for the KT3V specifically says '4x 1.5v only', but this one just says 'AGP 2.0 1x/2x/4x'. I really need to know this since otherwise i'd have to wait two months to afford another video card. I also checked another post here with an answer to a page with AGP explanation, but it didn't help. Thanks you very much, really
One AGP slot
- AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) specification compliant
- Supports AGP 2.0 1x/2x/4x
so whats the problem, your fine there

Geforce 2 Mx400 has compatibility with AGP 8x?
I have a MSI Geforce 2 MX400 T64CS model MS-8826 Ver: 2.6
Can anyone tell me with it is a 1.5 volts card? With this card has compability with AGP 4x.
I search in the manual and the card but I didn´t find the voltage.

Any help is aprecciated.
Thanks.Quote
I think you may find some 8x AGP cards will ONLY work in an 8x AGP slot and are not backwards compatible....
Can you name any examples? Seems stupid for manufactuers to cut out part of their product target audience. -
GeForce FX5200 in a 1.5v AGP 2/4x slot?
I have read on these forums that the MSI GeForce FX5200 TDR128 will work in 2/4/8x AGP slots, but I am wondering if it will work in a motherboard that only allows 1.5v cards? My board is an Intel D850GB and I currently have a GeForce2 Ultra and really need to get a DirectX 9 card.
I haven't been able to find anywhere on either the MSI site or the NVidia site what voltage the FX5200 is.
Thanks for any information.knytphal,
The i850 is a 4X AGP. It will work with 4X.

Hello there, i've got myself an MSI GF4 Ti4200 VTP 128MB from you guys and works fine in my current motherboard. However i've been looking to upgrade my PC to a P4 chip and require a new motherboard.
I took a look at a Gigabyte mobo for P4 and it has a thing called 'anti burn' to tell u if your VGA card isn't compatible (The mobo uses 1.5V AGP). I'd like to know if my GF4 card is 1.5V compatible as I can't find any info anywhere about it? Much appreciated - cheers.
Mike.Mike,
The older cards do not even fit the new AGP Slots. The only problem was some of the old Voodoo Cards were made with the 1.5 AGP PCB, but they are all obsolete now.
Take Care,

No Boot with AGP Card in Slot - 865 PE Neo2
I have tried absolutely everything.
My system will not power up when I have an AGP card in the AGP Slot. I have tried 3 different AGP 8x video cards. All with the same result -- the system fails to power up at all.
When I take the card out of the AGP slot and just power up -- everything seems to go smoothly. (not that I would know since i can't see anything) However, atleast it powers up.
This Mobo doesn't have built in video.
And I've never had one successful "power up" with a card in the AGP slot.
Any suggestions or help?
I'd greatly appreciate it.
JustinHmmm...I've posted my own message but...after reading this...I'm having the EXACT same problem. I cannot get the system to boot with any VGA card installed. If I take the card out, it boots but beeps 8 times when it gets to the video card part of the boot phase. Then it stops at some later phase (I believe the keyboard section). System specs are as follows...
Intel P4 Northwood 1.8Ghz
Gainward Powerpack Ultra 760TV/DVI (GeforceFX 5600 8X AGP)
765PE Neo2 (like this guy above) MB
PSU is a "DURO 400W Max"
I don't know how to obtain other information you have asked for, such as "combined wattage". I can give you the amp ratings for the various voltages listed on the PSU...
+3.3V 28A
+5V 30A
+12V 11A
-5V .5A
-12V .8A
+5VSB 3A
This was in a generic case we just got becuase the PSU was bad in the old one and my roommate seemed to think the button on the front of the old case could have been causing me trouble (?). Now if you are going to tell me the PSU is junk then you need to do a few things. First explain why. Tell me how to obtain the "combined watts" information and how knowing it is useful, and what it needs to be to support a system like this. Give your recommendations on reasonably priced PSUs that would provide enough power to run this system.
If a PSU can have so much to do with preventing a system from starting, why don't MOBO and VGA Card makers list more specific requirements for PSUs than "System needs at least a 300W PSU"?
I've been having problems getting a system running for months now, every since my original system shutdown one day and never started again. Since then I've been through MOBOs 2 CPUs and 2 PSUs. This is the closest I've gotten, with the system starting but the bracket lights freezing at Video Card Initalizing. -
AGP Graphics card covers pci slot 2 & Problems with sound card
I have already posted this on another part of the forum.
Hi i have an M Audio Delta192 Audiophile soundcard which is not working fully
i have been on the phone to the M Audio technical support about this
my problem is apparently i need to put the pci Soundcard card into the first slot after my graphics card which would be slot no 2
my graphics card has a fan on top which covers pci slot no 2 so the next available slot is slot 3 which is where i have my soundcard now
a lot of the functions available are greyed out in the M Audio Delta control panel this is the software used to control the parameters of the soundcard
is this right do i have to install my Soundcard in slot no 2 for it to work correctly
if so is there any way around this
my graphics card is a ATI Radeon 9800 XT
if there is no way around this are there any agp cards that i can get that dont have a great big fan on top that covers pci slot 2 that are good quality & can run 2 monitors
i cant seem to find anyHi J D Knight
I'm Pretty sure it is this is what it has under my system profiler
ATI Radeon 9800 XT:
Chipset Model: ATY,R360
Type: Display
Bus: AGP
Slot: SLOT-1
VRAM (Total): 256 MB
Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
Device ID: 0x4e48
Revision ID: 0x0000
ROM Revision: 113-A14404-123
this was the graphics card installed when i bought the powermac
i understand the reasons for the fan as i am led to believe it is a powerfull card
but my main use is for audio is it true about the pci slots do i need to have my soundcard in slot 2 as M-Audio have told me if so then i do need to change my graphics card so i can get my soundcard working as it should
the only thing i need is my dual screens -

*THANKS !!!*According to your G5 specification the ATI Radeon 9800 XT with 256MB of DDR SDRAM will work.
+(Notice that there are few models of 9800 i.e.: 9800 64MB, 9800 128MB, 9800 Pro Mac Edition, and some of them are for the older computers)+
But the fastest card for your computer is Nvidia 6800 Ultra DDL or ATI X800XT.
The ATI you can find here:
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/ATI%20Technologies/100435338OB/
6800, usually is much more expensive and not easy to find.

Hello. I have recently purchased a MSI FX5200 128 MB DDR graphics card- my first AGP card surprisingly. The card doesnt work. In fact, its not even detected by the bios.
My motherboard uses the AGP 1.0 spec (66Mhz and 133Mhz) at 3.3v only. From my reading, i was informed that an AGP 3.0 spec 8x card would be downward campatible to AGP 1.0. This doesnt seem to be the case with my card. Am i right to assume that when these comments are made, what people are actually saying is that a mobo that supports AGP 3.0 can be downgraded or auto-switched, if need be, to an AGP 1.0 or 2.0 spec, but not for a 8x card to auto-switch to 1x or 2x?
I've been looking through this forum and on the web and i keep getting conflicting info on the topic of AGP voltage levels and compatibility with older mobos. Some say 8x cards work in 2x slots and some say not. Some say the older mobos need to also support 1.5v, but that doesnt seem to make sense as AGP 1.0 only operates on 3.3v and at the time, 1.5v slots werent manufactured- dont think so at least!
I'm assuming that an AGP 1x/2x card would be my best bet- short of replacing my mobo. Does anyone have any suggestions on which one i should purchase?
PC specs:
mobo:GA-7IXE4 (bios version F9)
graphics: MSI FX5200 128 MB DDR (currently using riva tnt2)
256MB SDRAM 133MHz
I know that with my PC's bus speed i cant get the best out of the FX card, but i plan to upgrade the mobo later in the year- and this card is supported for a game (CMR3) i want to get! Is there anyway to get it to work on my board?
thanks in advanceAll Geforce FX GPUs come with AGP 8X and they are NOT expected to run on AGP 1.0 slots because of different voltages used. Even if it works, it may be unstable. However, using AGP 8X cards on 4X AGP slots doesn`t have any problems.
It`s not the AGP speed the problem, it is the voltages used...
But changing from AGP 4X to 8X has 3% performance increase, so don`t worry about speed.
Anyway, you could damage your card on a AGP 2X (1.0). In this case, buy a Geforce4 MX or Ti GPU -
Please can anyone tell me if an MSI K7N2 delta motherboard is compatable with an MSI FX5600 256DDR 533Mhz graphics card as I have fitted one and can not get anything on the monitor apart from B&W vertical lines followed by grey and coloured vertical lines. I would be very gatefull if someone could help. Thnks Colin1
Make sure the card is seated completely in the AGP slot.
You may have also loosened your system RAM while inserting the card.
Try re-seating the VGA card, then re-seating your RAM.
It could be a bad card and the only way to tell is to try another of the same model, this will tell you either the card is faulty or your configuration may be at fault.
I would contact the re-seller that sold you the card for an exchange. Additionally,
try a superstore near you that has a good return policy and see if you can find a similar or next level up model to test.
Since you don't list your hardware other than the motherboard or give prior history that is all I can tell you. -
MB MSI KT6V-LSR & VGA ASUS V7100pro compatibility
Hi all,
I'm about to buy myself the MSI KT6V-LSR motherboard. In the specs it is written that the AGP slot supports 1.5 volt video cards. The problem is that my VGA card is an old one - Asus V7100 pro (geforce2 mx400, 64MB) which is a 3.3 volt card. I can't afford to get a new video card right now
Could you tell me if this combination is going to work at all?
Thanks in advanceWell, I've bought the mb and now the pc runs with no problems at all, no compatibility issues. The VGA driver is the standard Forceware 61.67 (not very sure about the version).
Great mobo btw - easy to install, well designed, lots of features
I didn't like the Core Cell software, in the left it displays only the FSB, for the others N/A is shown. When I increase the FSB in this program the system hangs (winXP). If I do the same in BIOS, it works ok... I think I'll uninstall the program.
The CPU in an old Duron Spitfire 600 MHz (6*100FSB), which used to go upto 850MHz by changing the multiplier (changing the FSB did't work) on the old motherboard. With this mobo it does 133MHz FSB with no problems - now running at 6*133. -
K8N Neo2-FX CPU compatibility question
Thinking about upgrading my Athlon 64 to a dual core, and can't seem to find out anywhere if the CPU I want to buy is compatible with my mobo (K8N-Neo2-FX). I don't see why not, but you never know. I'm looking at an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Toledo (Model # ADA3800DAA5CD). The MSI compatibility chart doesn't even seem to know that this CPU exists (the only Toledo cores it lists are the 2x1MB L2 cache models, and this is a 2x512KB). I don't want to buy the CPU if it won't work - anybody know if this combo will work out okay? Thanks for any help anyone can give me.
Thanks guys! I guess I'll go ahead and get my chip. One other question that's arisen, though. I'm also looking at an eVGA 7800GS AGP GPU upgrade. From what I can see this card is BIG (I'm talking physical size). It looks like the HSF on the chipset of the Neo2-FX is pretty much right beside the AGP slot - does anyone know if this GPU will fit on this board, or does that HSF get in the way? Thanks again!
