Ahh I thought os 9 would finally work but there is one more problem

I have Tiger installed on my computer. I needed os 9 so I could use some applications. I saved the os 9 System folder to my harddrive and just when I think os 9 is going to work while it's booting up I get this message. "The System software on the startup disk only functions on the orginal media, not if copied to another drive" then there is a button to restart. I pressed that and that window just shows up again. What do I do? Thanks

I have a Powermac 4..maybe I'm not good with computers at all as you can tell. It's the imac I have as my icon. I tried restoring classic and I don't know how to do that with the os X discs I have. What should I do?? thank you so much for any help

Make an appointment at the genius bar of your local Apple store or contact AppleCare. Some Apple Stores in the US can replace the display in an iPhone 5 for $149. If it requires more than that, a replacement phone will cost you $229.

Is there any "simple" documentation on the steps to download and install Photoshop and Premiere Elements V13? The downloads seems to work but there's nothing clear on what do you do next.

I've been messing with computers since 1958 and I've never seen such a mess as trying to download and install the recently purchased copies of Photoshop and Premiere Elements Version 13. Slow downloads? Sure, but I can live with that. But once downloaded, what next? Look for a xxx.exe file somewhere in the pile? Read the "ReadMe" file? All I seem to get is unzipping some files with nothing leading me into the proper steps. I can't even seem to get off the ground. Everything I touch unzips and just lies there. I hate to think I've gone dumb after all of these years, but "user friendly" this is not. My "Your order confirmation" sheet gives me "Follow the instructions below to start using it today" and the first three steps work as you'd expect. Step 4 states "After you have completed the download process, your serial number will be displayed in the download center." Step 5 is "You can log back into 'Adobe Account Management' in the future to re-download your product or retrieve your serial number. ...." I have no problem with my serial number but there seems to be a lot missing between Steps 4 and 5. It would be nice to have this information as pretty standard "stuff. Computers are supposed to do super stuff without a lot of time-consuming problems with a simple process like installing the software. I'm feeling a bit hostile about this but it is a time-consuming, frustrating process.

Videochat and Screensharing working. but not with ONE person

ok this is a tricky one. i have a mbp. my father has an imac and various friends have mbps or mbs.when i'm at my parents home ichat av between me and my father is no problem. (so far ok, because it is intern).both, my father and i are able to videochat with everyone from MY PARTENS HOME.
when i'm back to my apartment, i can chat with everyone, except my father! now to the interesting part. if i ask a friend to start videochat and invite my father we're both in. so the problem basically is the connection between us. when someone other is host, there's no problem.
i double checked my network connection and the network connection at my parents home. but i was always able to chat with everybody, but my father. when i was in holiday i had the exact same problem, just to stress out, that i'm not too stupid to set up the network/ports. in fact ichat av is currently working without even mapping a single port.
so has anybody ever had a similar problem (i already contacted my apple retailer=never heard of something like this).
to sum up: ichat av working in both homes without any problems. the only thing not working is the connection between my mbp and my fathers imac.

Edit: see bottom first.
I would cross check the port in iChat > Preferences > Accounts > Server setting tab on both the test Mac User and your normal Mac User account.
Even if the Test Mac User account is using port 5190 then make sure the Normal Mac User account's iChat is.
If 443 is the successful one try that.
Also look at whether it is using the SSL option to login.
I would also check System Preferences > Security > Firewall on both as a comparison.
iChat only works if Allow All or Allow Specifics and iChat is added to the List (it is not considered and Essential)
Then go to System Preferences > Network and see if the DNS servers are being shown on the Normal account when they are on the Test one.
In the Normal Mac User's Account iChat check that in the Video menu the Camera Enabled item is ticked and that Screen Sharing is Allowed.
The camera is enabled by default but might have got changed.
As you wanted to Screen share you may have turned it on in the Test Mac User's iChat.
Deleting the .plist com.apple.ichat.plist would have deleted any Screen Sharing setting in the Normal Mac User.
Back to System Preferences > Network.
Is there any chance that the two (Mac User)accounts are using different IPs from your Modem or router ?
In System Preferences > Sharing on the Normal Account check that Internet Sharing is Off.
On reviewing this post before posting this actually seems the most likely.

My iPhone 5 is working but there is still water inside ?

So yesterday at around 2 pm I was cleaning my floors and set down my iPhone screen down to listen to music I hadn't realized that I had placed it on a puddle of pine sol . after a song I went to change it and I realized it was wet I wiped it off but there was water inside the phone so i showed it to my brother I ran to my room and tired to charge it I found out that only portions of the screen work. It worked but I knew I should put it in rice so I did.I turned it off and out it standing up ports down in rice I turned it on about half an hour later to show my mom. Then quickly turned it off and put it in rice again. When I got home from school I checked it and I can see there is still water in the phone but the whole screen works I haven't tested out the camera but the finger print scanner works. What should I do? Please include prices of repair or replacement I had the iPhone 5s 16 GB I would like the exact same one.

Apple does not repair them. They replace them. $269 for a 5, 5c or 5s replacement.

Update finally working - but how do I get the apps I bought on the phone??

Bought some apps from the appstore yesterday - but even though I FINALLY got my phone updated after 5 hrs of clicking, how the heck do I get the apps into the iPhone??

Here's what I did. After downloading attach your phone to your computer. You will notice a new tab ( just like you have for music, video etc) called applications when you select your iphone in the side menu of itunes. Check off the applications you want to try on your phone and sync. The first time I did this the applications did not work on my phone. I went back and removed them, did a sync, added them back and synced again. The second time was the charm and they seem to be working. Good luck.

Install finally worked - but now I cannot connect

My install did work after I logged on as administrator, and the database home page came up. I was very pleased, BUT then....
I rebooted and re-logged in as my own user, and the database home page would not come up! My services are started, but when I tried connecting (SQL) I got:
ORACLE not available
shared memory realm does not exist
please help!
ps I did try as administrator again but still can't connect, same problem.

I guess this must be related to when I couldn't connect previously. The DBF files are there in the oradata directory tho!

Nivo slider on iWeb - can get it to work, but not on one Mac.

I am a complete luddite when it comes to computers, but I have managed to set up a couple of pretty decent websites using iweb.
I am looking for a bit of advice as to where I am going wrong setting up the Nivo slider on one of our computers though.
Having followed the instructions carefully, I have successfully set up the slider on one of the sites on my Mac, and my husband has set up a slider on a macbook pro without any problems. Neither of us can get it set up and added to two websites on our other main Mac though. (We have tried numerous times, and have checked, double checked and tripple checked the code and addresses, and have used cyber duck to check the info is all correct on the server)
Nothing happens though. The page in question is just a blank screen with nothing other than the headings etc there.
We wondered if Javascript had been disabled on the Mac, and I think I've worked out how to check that in Safari - and the checkbox says it's enabled.
I'm at a bit of a loss now what to do next to solve the problem.
Does anybody have any ideas what I might try? I would be enormously grateful for any advice - I've been going slowly blind trying to read and understand code in order to get some idea of what might be going wrong (not an easy task for a luddite!)

Photos have been uploaded, and links done also. I originally followed the instructions from the site www.allaboutiweb.com on how to upload the nivo slider (google search nivo slider and iweb and it's pretty much first on the list!) really easy instructions to follow - so initially used website six photos, then amended to my own. Done successfully on one computer, but although I've followed the exact same process (with meticulous attention) it just won't work on our other website (on another computer).
I've since had a thought it might have to do with not having downloaded jquery 1.7+ ?!.
Really floundering a little here, because I really don't know my way around computers.
Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Before I continue my post, I would like to say that I have read this section on the wiki:

It asks the user to edit /etc/asound.conf (which does not exist) in order to comment out a few lines that will fix the problem. It's quite frustrating to need to close all audio using programs every time I want to play audio. I do not have pulseaudio installed. I tried installing OSS4 in order to fix the problem, but for some reason my kernel headers were not detected and I couldn't start the daemon. I would appreciate it if someone could reply to me and tell me what the problem could be.

Spdif working but only for AC3/DTS, problem occured suddenly

Hi all,
My spdif output decided to stop outputting normal sounds. It will only work with AC3/DTS. This seemed to happen suddenly, one minute it was working and the next it wasn't. I hadn't changed anything with regards to the sound setup. IEC958 is unmuted in the Alsamixer app. Not sure what else to check. I think the problem occured when one of my apps crashed so maybe that has something to do with it but I tried rebooting, shutting down completely etc. I can't think of anything else to check.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is a media computer and SPDIF is my only option for sound.

I forgot the power of ssh... The mplayer switches you suggested still result in 2ch. Here is the output of the alternative solution from the link you gave.

After recent upgrades Firefox prevents links in several websites from working whilst there is no such problem with other browsers - help please.

Since a recent upgrade of Firefox links in several websites no longer work. They used to be fine and I loved Firefox. The problems do not exist with other browsers e.g. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome. More specifically, on talktalk.co.uk the links to news items do not work, nor do those to "My Account." On Barclays.co.uk the link to print my statement doesn't work - similarly on MBNA.com
There are several suggested solutions around the internet but all are complex, none so far have worked and I don't see why I should need to carry out the suggested tweaks. Firefox used to be great - now it isn't. The problem seems to be with the upgrade. Please help me to get my Firefox to where it should be.

Thank you but please don't waste any more time on this. I have done as I said I would - removed and re- installed Firefox, cleared all cookies and caches (CCleaner) - still doesn't work. As I said at the start, the problem is not confined to Talktalk - it applies to several other sites and links. The problem does not occur with Internet Explorer nor with Google Chrome so I am now using those.

IPhone 5 sleep button not working but theres a tiny crack in the corner of the screen, about a quarter of an inch.

I started to notice that my sleep button started to not respond like normal. I would have to push it more and more times for my phone to turn off. Only the left part of the sleep button works. I have read a bunch of forums about this and people have been saying they got the phone exchanged no questions asked. I am wondering, since there is a tiny crack in the corner of the phone, will Apple turn down my phone and make me pay $49.99 since I have Apple Care. The sleep button started to not work before the corner of the screen got cracked. Bad luck I guess. What should I try to do ?

As I mentioned, someone else's personal experience may not be duplicated. It all boils down to what the particular Genius has to say at the date and time that you show up. The worse they can say is they will not replace the phone under warranty and you would be offered an OOW replacement. If you have Apple Care +, it would be a $50 deductible, where the OOW replacement cost for the iPhone 5 in the US is $229.
