je possede un imac 27" mi-2010 core i3
lors du test avec apple hardware test, j'ai une erreur 4MOT/4/40000003:HDD-1289
quelqu'un a til une idee sur la cause de l'erreur.
a savoir egalement que mon imac a eu il y a 2 ans le hdd changé suite a une campagne de rappel.

From the results of a few searches online, the AHT error appears to mean this:
4MOT (motor) & some suggest that would be a fan issue, perhaps cooling HDD.
However there may be more than one thing going on in the computer and you
may see if an Apple Store with Genius bar could help diagnose similar results
and give you their take on the meaning of these codes. Appointments usually
are necessary, and even if the computer no longer has Applecare coverage,
you usually can get some help and an idea what's going on. If no Apple Store
(with genius bar) you may need to try an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
Or check around for an Apple Specialist. You'd likely pay for diagnostics, then.
Sometimes if there's excessive dust in the computer, it may show things are
acting up, such as overheating; or fan failure, cooling issues, etc. Or a hard
disk drive that may be running hot or on its last legs & needing replaced.
The error indicates a hardware cause, so this may be a symptom of pending failure.
But the temperature sensors may be acting up, if this relates, and the margin of
error for them may be compromised if there is dust inside affecting cooling efficiency.
Without knowing for sure, the exact build model iMac, can't say if there may be
another issue going on to contribute to the Error message. Or if there had been
a EFI firmware update for that computer, still in existence, that may apply. Given
the age and wear, an earlier iMac may need a replacement hard disk drive by now.

The fan in the Hard disk is defective. I don't know if the fan itself can be repaired, or whether the technicians simply replace the Hard Disk. Either way, you need to take it in for service.

You're looking at a drive issue, possibly heat and or fan related. Google is pretty good at pulling up posts for the error message.
If the system is still working and the drive is accessible make sure you do a backup right way and then make an appointment with Apple.

AHT 4MOT/1/40000003:HDD will replacing the fan fix the machine?

My 2007 imac started freezing on me, but a reboot would fix it. Finally, it just froze and when I reboot it takes forever, gives a garbled grey screen and then loads the OS and displays the desktop. Everything seems fine until you click on something. Then everything freezes again (forever).
When I ran AHT, I got the error 4MOT/1/40000003:HDD (with no trailing numbers), which I understand to be a hard drive fan er
I have all of my data backed up to a time machine drive so I'm not worried about my data, but what are the chances of the computer working again if I spend the money to buy a fan and replace it? Thoughts?
Any help will be much appreciated.

That error message indicates a hard drive fan issue. The problem is that you have to replace the whole hard drive, not only the fan.
I recommend you to take the iMac to an Apple Store or reseller to get the hard drive replaced, so you won't have to worry about doing something wrong while installing it, and then, just restore your Time Machine backup. Anyway, if you want to install the hard drive yourself, you can find the steps to do it in OWC or iFixit.

First off, let me list my iMac's specs:
iMac 11,3 27in (mid 2010)
3.2 Ghz intel Core i3
16 GB RAM (upgraded to 4x4GB) (Checked with Crucial for exact model needed)
1TB HDD
Mavericks 10.9.5 (all software versions current)
Recently, I've discovered that my iMac will either lock up completely, or all of the apps will become unresponsive, both with the beach ball. Sometimes the issue will correct itself after a few minutes, and then become unresponsive again in short order. Others, I have to force crash the computer. I've tried both a PRAM zap and an SMC reset, to no avail.
I have done some searching on Google and found two possible culprits so far: RAM or the hard drive. Apple Hardware Test gives me this code: 4mot/4/40000003: HDD-1438.
Again, I tried googling the code, but found nothing. I doubt that the problem is the RAM; System Profiler recognizes all four chips and says they're ok. I'm beginning to suspect the HDD based on my admittedly ignorant interpretation of the AHT code.
Any thoughts?

If you plan to replace the drive, then take the computer to an Apple repair shop. If you open the computer yourself, then Apple will refuse any support for it. Replacing the drive is not trivial, so if you do it yourself take care to learn as much as possible about the procedure. If you in any way fail to succeed on your own, then you will not be able to ask Apple to fix it for you. They will refuse.

My imac is doing strange things:
-delaying between users: when closing session it goes to blue, then takes a while to appear users signin box, and then wont recognize mouse command to enter until a couple of minutes later... then everything seems alright until....
-it gets stuck between things, the rainbow wheel appears and its just delays there forever....

WZZZ answered about where to get iStat. And do check the SMART status. If it is an overheating problem due to a fan or logic board problem, your hard drive is possibly cooking itself to death. If so it isn't a faulty hard drive even though the hard drive might fail. So assuming it's a temperature problem, even if you are able to repair things on the disk with software, that is working on symptoms, not causes. I could be wrong however.
RE: AppleCare: Your iMac came with one year of AppleCare (Apple's warranty program), but within the first year you can buy 2 more years. You have to extend by the one year anniversary of purchase of the computer. Your 10,1 is too old to still be in the first year, and since you asked what it was, I'm sure you don't have it. Bottom line meaning is that whatever this problem turns out to be, you'll have to pay for it. Unless there is something like this. It is for 2011 iMacs with certain Seagate drives. You can put in your serial number for fun, but it looks like yours is too old. Lastly, some people have had Apple help them anyway if it is just out of warranty, but many have not. Your machine is one of these. Type in 10,1 in the search box. Is there an Apple Store near you? Just b/c it's out of warranty doesn't mean you shouldn't have it looked at by Apple. But no one here can say at all what Apple will or will not do.

4MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1344 Error, but no problems!

Hi, I got the infamous 4MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1344 error while doing my hardware check, however, I do not seem to have any problems with my mac, the fan speed is around 1300RPM, and 38 celsius. It is not loud, and it is working, and everything seems fine.
I know they say 'if it's not broke, don't fix it', but it is annoying me, and I'd hate anything to mess up...
Google seems to think it is a fan issue, but I really am not having any problems with it, and have not noticed any change.
I recently replaced the stock HD with a Crucial M4 SSD, and have had a few 30-second freezes, but haven't for a while, and have just updated the firmware that is meant to stop it.
If anyone has any idea how to stop this error, it would be greatly appreciated. Preferably something where I do not have to open it up!

I wanted to finish the test to see if anything else was up.
I let the computer cool down and left it off for a bit, and the test eventually worked on the quick test, but had the error on the full test, must have heated up too much. But everything seems fine, so problem solved! Thanks!

I have a similar problem, the numbers at the end of the error code change a bit, when i do the apple hardware test again ( I have an imac of early 2008, 2,66 GH). I have 2 GB Ram now, after one week ago one of the 2GB-Ram sticks "died") In fact, it was working quite much, then suddenly (i bought imac in june 2009) the ram stick was broken. The apple-support center told me its probably not a problem, but did not tell me what the error code means. I have apple-care for 3 years, its a luck i did it, so they will take it and check carefully, but just after i insisted on the error. It seems they do not want to tell u what that could be....
Do u guys think the ram-stick was broken because the imac was too hot???

What is Hardward Test Error "4MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1330"

Recently, my daughter experienced massive Finder problems (continual spinning beachball with freezes, Force Quit unresponsive) on her iMac (Intel Dual Core 2008 Model). Eventually, she got nothing but a flashing question-mark on a restart.  
Before reinstalling system software, I ran an Apple Hardware Test and it reported "No Problems". Disk Utility reported "Volume OK". Archive and install failed twice. I was able to retrieve and copy her home folder slaving the sick iMac to my operating G5 using Target Disk Mode. Following that, I did a complete erase and install of the OS.
  However, AFTER reinstalling the OS, I ran Hardware Test again and it reported the following error "4MOT/1/40000003: HDD-1330". I suspect this may mean that her 1GB ram chip is going bad, but I am not sure. Does anyone know what this error means?

I may try finding a deal on an external HD for her for the time being and get her to back up what she has regularly using SuperDuper, then try replacing the internal HD myself when it gives out. (Who knows—it might keep running for quite a while in this state—I'm keeping my fingers crossed.) I'm pretty good at following instructions and may try doing the replacement myself when the time comes. At least that will allow us to save the important stuff and give us more time to save the money for the new HD purchase. No one fixes Macs around here, and I'd rather try installing the new HD myself than sending it back to Apple.

I believe you've posted this multiple times. Once is all that's needed. Also, please don't use all caps. Aside from the fact it means you're shouting it's also harder to read than mixed case.
The error means a bad fan motor or the HDD has failed. In your case it's the latter. You can try the following:
Drive Preparation
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
When formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer. Complete the OS X installation.

Buy a new drive and replace the old one. While the old one is still working (if it is) I would quickly make a bootable backup to an external drive if you have one, assuming you have no extant backup.
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
You will find suitable replacement drives at OWC.
They may also have a video tutorial. Or you may find a written tutorial at ifixit.com. Also may find one by Googling for it.

Does anybody knows what means the hardware test alert 4MOT/4/40000003: HDD-1337?,
I guess that its something wrong in my HD, but the question is What?
I ran a hardware test just to see if there was something in my imac, and report this alert, I don't know what it means, but i want to be prepared in case to be a possible critical failure or something like that.
The computer is working fine, and without problems,
Imac 27" mid 2011, 16 bg ram, i5 2,7 Itb, yosemite 10.10.1 up-graded.

Try these below in order, to check whether you can boot the machine further:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
About NVRAM and PRAM
OS X: About OS X Recovery to confirm that the internal disk is accessible.
Afterwards, try a normal reboot.
