AHT seems to be missing

Sorry for the length but I want to let you know both what my issues have been and what I've done to try to fix them so that you don't suggest something that I've already tried.
My wife has a Mac Pro running Mavericks. Lately it's been doing odd things. Safari and other programs will take a long time to open, tasks that should only take moments in Photoshop take several minutes, clicking in Lightroom will cause the active application to switch to Photoshop, and other downright strange behavior. What I'd like to do is run the AHT to check for maybe some issues with the RAM or really anything that might give me a clue about what might be going on. I've verified the disks with the Disk Utility and repaired permissions but none of that has helped.
The main HD was running a bit low on space and that was upgraded to a larger drive. The new drive was cloned from the old. The recovery partition was cloned as well. I've mounted the recovery partition so that I can see what it has on it and the only thing I see is a folder named com.apple.recovery.boot. In that are only five files:
boot.efi
com.apple.Boot.plist
kernelcache
PlatformSupport.plist
SystemVersion.plist
I was hoping to run AHT from that recovery partition but it doesn't seem to be there.
I've tried holding down d, Option-d, Command-d, Option-r, and Command-r during startup but none of them trigger anything. The Mac just starts up like normal.
And lastly, I've downloaded the AHT from github and put that on a thumbdrive, then tried to start the Mac from that thumbdrive and that didn't work either.
I would like either A) some information on what might be the root cause of my original issues or B) info on how to get the AHT to run from the recovery partition.

PS As I've been sitting here, there has been a HD spinning and doing something for a while. But I'm writing this from my MacBook and not the problem system. That system isn't doing anything, or shouldn't be, right now.

Just now I tried starting from a Snow Leopard DVD that a friend loaned me and the system didn't get any farther than the grey screen with the Apple logo on it.

You need Acrobat. Reader doesn't have the ability to enable Reader's signing ability in a document.

You can use "Ctrl +" and "Ctrl -" to zoom pages quickly and "Ctr 0" (zero) to reset the page zoom.

Ahhh, well you never mentioned that before. You need to contact your friend from whom you purchased the computer. He/She should have any and all install discs for any third-party software included as well as for OS X and the original pre-installed software.
Apple will gladly sell you replacements for any discs that did come with the computer originally, but they will not do anything for you because you purchased the computer used. If it's in warranty still, then you can get any warranty covered things taken care of through AppleCare:

I seem to be missing DAQmx VIs?

I installed v 7.0, and then tried to run an example DAQmx VI from the developer zone. However, the VI can not start because a lot of DAQmx VIs seem to be missing. Doing a search on my Labview 7.0 directory, I do not find any VIs starting with DAQmx*.vi.
Furthermore, choosing Functions|input, I do not see the DAQ assistant (I think that is what it is supposed to be called?)
p.s. I am using the Prof devel system version/

I seem to be missing parts of a document that was saved on iCloud.

I seem to be missing parts of a document that was saved on iCloud. The problem occurred when I was updating to mavericks and my imac when into recovery mode. I spoke to apple and the advised me to erase the harddrive as the all the documents was saved on icloud and start again. Since then all the documents seem to be there but sections seem to be missing on a very large document. Does anyone know how to get the full version back?

If you erased your hard drive, you may well have erased any relevant copies that might have helped you restore your document. You might try opening the document and seeing if there are any previous versions available to you via file > revert to.

My reference monitor seems to be missing the setup option also it is displaying in a format I do not understand.

I'm based in th UK and working with PAL mini DV. I imported the footage in and then created the sequences using a clip, so the sequence settings should be correct and having checked them, it seems they are. The problem I have is I cannot convert the scale he is working with (IRE) to what I'm working with (V).

Compression seems to be missing on export...

When I export my mix and then listen back to the clip from the browser the compression seems to be missing. Then when I drop the clip back into the timeline, put it on a new track outputted through a seperate bus with no fx or compression it seems to be o.k. When imported into itunes compression also seems to be missing.. Any suggestions...

There is one or more missing photo - typically a page background requiring a photo that is hidden behind a layout with photos in it - look through every page for that - any page tha thas a grey background rather than color is a problem - and it ccan be behind a full page photo so you have to check the page background rather than just look at the page

Mac Pro seems to be missing 0.5 GB of ram after Snow Leopard install

I just installed Snow Leopard on my Mac Pro (2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon). The computer has only ever had the default 2 GB of RAM that comes with it from Apple. I know I need more, it's on order. The odd thing that I noticed after installing Snow Leopard is that the computer now only reports 1.5 GB or RAM in the "About This Mac" box. Specifically it says: "1.5 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM". Odd.
Second if I click "More Info..." below is what I see in the memory slots.
Does anyone know what might have caused this, or if its possible to get that 0.5 GB back?
Second I just ordered 8 GB of RAM (MACMEM 4Gx2|KST KTA-MP800K2/8G R). If the above issue doesn't get resolved what do you suggest I do when the new RAM arrives? Should I just add in the new stuff for a total of 9.5 GB, or should I also take out the existing RAM that's reporting odd values? I'm wondering if the missing 0.5 GB is a symptom of other issues, and maybe that RAM is "sick" and could slow things down somehow.

I am running a '07 Mac Pro that has had 7GB RAM since I bought it almost 3 years ago - the original 2x512MB + 6x1GB purchased from Crucial.com. Suddenly, after installing Snow Leopard, only 6GB are being recognized; two of the 1GB DIMM's now read as 512MB in System Profiler, and the Part Number and Serial Number listed for those modules are incorrect.
After searching these forums for ideas, I have tried:
• Resetting the PRAM -- no change
• Running Apple Hardware Test -- no problems found
• Running TechTool Deluxe 3.1.3 (updated for Snow Leopard) -- no problems found
• Running TechTool Pro 5.1.6 (updated for Snow Leopard) -- no problems found
• Running system scanner (beta) from Crucial.com - cannot read installed RAM
The only thing I haven't tried is physically reinstalling the modules, but since the computer hasn't moved in months that seems pretty doubtful. If I make any progress I'll post again, otherwise, I'll be contacting Crucial for replacements.

New ESS config - Homepage Framework (area group, etc) seems to be missing

I am installing the new ESS 1.0 for ECC6 (ERP5).
I succsessfully imported with SDM he new:
ESS BP
PCUI_GP
I then created all systems in the portal and all JCo's.
When I try and open Employee Self-Service (any pages) in the Portal I get the following error:
Area group SAPDEFAULTESSERP2005 does not exist._
It seems like the Homepage Framework has not been imported for some reason as there are no default area groups or anything else in homepage framework.
Have I missed something? Is there something else I also had to import?

it seems that you are trying to use an ERP2005 ESS package with an
ERP2004 backendsystem. Unfortuanetly this is not working.
You can use
ERP2004 - ECC5 - NW2004 - ESS 100 - ESS BP ERP2004
or
ERP2005 - ECC6 - NW2004s - ESS 600 - ESS1.0 BP ERP2005
However it should be possible to connect the ESS 100 application which
are running on a NW2004 to an EP7.

JDK seems to be missing.

I downloaded the JDK pack from sun microsystems, but in trying to get it to work with JCreator I can't seem to find the JDK directory. It looks as though only the runtime environment, Java\jre6, installed from the jdk-6u10-windows-x64.exe, though I did download the Java SE Development Kit (JDK) 6 Update 10 file from the downloads page.
Could anyone offer me some insight as to what I'm missing?

Don't try to install both the JDK and its JRE to the same folder.
