AI 3D extrusions - lines / streaks / striations in PDF format file

OS: Win 7 / 64
AI: CS5 15.0.2
Acrobat: 9.4.6
I am attempting to create a shaded vertical cylinder using AI's 3D extrusion function.
When shading is applied to the object, I am getting lines / streaks / striations in the PDF format file when viewed in Acrobat.
JPG and PNG exports do not exhibit the lines / streaks / striations.
The error is appearing in cylinders oriented vetically. It is not appearing in cylinders rotated to a non-vertical angle.

The effect is reduced by selecting "draw hidden faces," but not eliminated. The number of blend steps also affects the amount of the error that is manifested, but again, does not eliminate the error.
The only way to eliminate the error is to use the exact same color for both stroke and fill.
Depending on the shape, that may or may not be an issue.
The Illustrator and Acrobat product teams will need to fight it out as to which is responsible for the error but from the customer perspective, the error has only one logo: Adobe.

When we want to update/revise the document, is there a method, using Acrobat, to make those updates to the pdf, or must we go back to the doc template and basically generate a new document?
Also, our resulting pdf documents aren't searchable. How can we generate pdf documents that are searchable? I may want to search for a part value or name within the body of these pdf documents, but currently can't do that...very inconvenient.

Not totally sure about the search issue. A lot depends on how you created the PDF and what is in the datasheets you attached (like are they graphics?). The doc portion should be searchable as long as you used print to the Adobe PDF printer or PDF Maker. For your use, it may be that the print is adequate. However, the result should be searchable (unless maybe you had a form with filled in fields and created the PDF with PDF Maker. I think the form data may be retained in form fields and the fields are not searchable. In that case, a print might be a better procedure. (it would help to know the versions of WORD and Acrobat as well as the exact process you used to create the PDF.)
If the appended data sheets do not change, then you might try opening the original PDF and then using Replace Pages to replace the file created from the DOC file.

Can XI produce a PDF format files using a file adapter

Hi,
Currently I have a requirement to send a PDF file to the legacy system. I'm not sure whether XI has the capability to do this. Appreciate if somebody could help me on this. The requirement is like from SAP we will send a data stream to XI and XI has to produced a form in PDF by populating the data on the PDF layout.
Appreciate if somebody have any experienced with this development can share with me.

Problem in Using scanned .pdf format files

I have an old (5-6 years old) Canon N670U flat bed scanner. I use it for scanning books of my interest. It can give each page/document scan in pdf format directly. However each scan becomes a separate file lthough serially numbered while scanning. When I want to read the pages, Next/Previous page or pages Up/Down etc. - reader tools available in Acrobat Reader are not operative.
    I need to go back to each scan file separately. Also, most of the time, image needs to be rotated. Though I do it in view mode, it does not get saved in corrected mode-even if I go to "file" and click on "save as". At each fresh visit, this has to be repeated.
    Present driver of the scanner is version 4. I did get your version 7 downloaded. But could not install & use it. Is it necessary that old version first must be uninstalled and only then I can install the new version? Is it not automatic? It might have to copy new and remove old software files.
    What should be done that all these individual files (of a single bok) can be combined into a single meaningful folder, with availability/access to all Adobe Reader Tools. Will be grateful for advice..

This needs to be done during the scanning process, using your CanoScan software. Once the file is saved unrotated, you will need some additional software to do that (Acrobat), so better do it during the scanning process.
Use the Rotate clockwise / counterclockwise buttons on your scanning software.

Command Line Parameters - opening a pdf in "Files" view ?

I am trying to open a PDF from a command line parameter which will force it to open in "Files" wiew, which in my case is a column on the left hand side with a series of page icons with a title:

So, I have tried a lot of parameters to open it in this way and none seem to work.
I have tried:
acrord32.exe /A "pagemode=thumbs=OpenActions" "a.pdf"
and many more
I have the PDF on acrobat reader opening parameters but none seem to do it for me.
Any ideas?

Nowhere in that file does it say that it works for Reader.

Pdf format files appears as blank page in Crome but not IE

Hi,
I need some advice to overcome this issues. After my computer (WIndow 8) updated, i can not view any pdf file in Chrome but is find in IE.
I have tried to solve this problem using chrome://plugins/ and disable Chrome pdf viewer and Adobe Reader version. None of these works.
I also have tried to reinstall Chrome. But it didn't works
Any other possible ways to solve the problem?

Why i am not able to put a pdf format on iBook from itunes?

I tried to put a textbook that is in pdf format in my iPod in iBooks but I am not able to put it there. As much as I try to sync it, it does not work. Why is it like that and what should I do?

I plugged my iPod with the computer, I opened iTunes, I clicked on Books at the top, I put my file there and I selected the books that I wanted to have in my iPod. Then, I clicked Sync. Afterwards, my older books were still there in the iBooks application in my iPod. However, the new book that I put was not there and I don't get why. What I mean by iBooks app is the application that I downloaded from app store and this is where I put my books and my pdf format files. However, I am not able to put this book.

Stitch lines created in a PDF/X-1a due to transparency flattening during export from InDesign

Has there been any sure fire methods to avoid the digital stitch lines created in a PDF/X-1a due to transparency flattening during export from InDesign? If I attempt to edit the PDF using the Acrobat Edit Text and Graphics tool the PDF is actually carved into sectors and images are not selectable as a whole. Also contrary to what I have read those white lines do indeed image from time to time. I could export as PDF/X4 to preserve the transparency but on occasion it would be advantageous to flatten it before supplying to the printer. Currently using CC and have done the usual things in an attempt to avoid the lines such as all text above transparent objects on a separate layer and 'Clip-Complex-Region' on export.

If the default High Res flattener preset is stitching make a custom preset that's all rasters and use it in the advanced tab of the PDF/X-1a preset

Vertical lines when printing a PDF

I have a strange problem: When user A tries to print out his building plans in PDF format on a Lexmark C935, there are vertical lines on the printout.
What I tried:
User A prints on another client: NOK
User B prints the same document: OK
Both users use the same printer with the same driver > shouldn't be a problem with the printer
User A has the same problem on another client > shouldn't be a problem with the client
Are there some user-specific settins that could cause these lines? I tried reinstalling Acrobat Standard, but it did not work...
Any comments / ideas are appreciated!

Try adjusuting your pdf page display settings (eg: turn off enhance thin lines).
