Ai cs3 overriding transparency help!

I built an illustration and assigned transparency to various elements of it.
I copied and pasted the illustration into a new ai doc and no longer have the original file. The transparency settings have become permanent, eg. I used 50% transparency for an element in the original document and in the new document that I pasted the element into the transparency setting reads 100%, but its really still 50%, i.e. I can see the elements behind it! Anyone know whats happened and how to fix it? Do I have to start all over...ug, I hope not.

Scott the items were ungrouped and I was having the same problem...
Mordy I selected one of the elements that I was having the issue with and the appearance panel read default transparency so I went to the submenu and assigned add new fill, which took care of the problem thank you!
is there a better/faster way to do it without having to select each element and reassigning the colour?

LPI/DPI not changing dot size in Illustrator CS3 when printing HELP!

I'm having to us my wife's laptop which is an HP running windows vista. I am using Illustrator CS3 and printing with a Ricoh Aficio AP610N Adobe PostScript3 printer. All this I could do on my laptop before it messed up and it would work fine. Now though on my wife's laptop when I go to print a spot color with any type of halftone or gradient mesh and I change the lpi/dpi in the print dialogue box down to say like 25 or 30 from 106 the dots are still printing out very very tiny. There not printing out 25 or 30 dots per inch. There still at like 106 or 225 lpi/dpi. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!! Why wont they change to what I set it to??? Am i over looking something??? Again all this worked fine on my laptop I could change the lpi/dpi to 35 and they would print out big I could actually see them. And now on my wife's laptop they just keep printing out small real fine dots. The only difference between my laptop & hers is mines was a 64bit & hers is only a 32bit. Please help me someone!!!!!!!!!!!

Look for printer settings in the printer's driver dialog that overide document halftone settings. Some HP laser printers, for example, have a so-called "resoution enhancement" setting that is on by default, and that overrides the document halftone rulings. It's quite possible you have turned such a setting off on your machine, but have not done so on your wife's.

Problem Installing Flash CS3 Pro PLEASE HELP!!

I have downloaded the installer for about the 3rd time i
extract it all right but when i run the setup.exe its all fine
until it starts to install but then it says something like " insert
Adobe Flash CS3 Professional to continue" i keep trying but it
never works i even converted the folder to a .iso and mounted it
with the same name it told me but that still doesn't work. I have
run out of ideas please if anyone knows the problem please can you
help me out?

FYI: "Br" is the Bridge application - try launching that to
see if it fully installed.

OSX + Epson 2200 + CS3 and LR2 - help!

Please help.
I just moved to a Mac Book Pro running Mac OS X 10.5.4 (9E17) and the latest CS3 and LR2. I have used an Epson 2200 successfully for years on my previous Windows machine. I have a color managed system. Now I have several issues on the Mac. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
My issues:
1) I see all of my profiles (icc files) in the CS3 Print screen but none are listed in the Epson printer setup screen. Why?
2) My prints are awful; very magenta and with banding. Something fundamental is set incorrectly. What could it be?
3) I read about Epson Easy Print but I still have to go into the Epson Printer setup screen from the CS3 or LR2 print screen to, for example, turn off color management. Why?
4) In LR2 when I go to the Epson Print setup screen and try to select Print Setting or Color Management, they are lined-through and I receive this message: "The bundle Color Management could not be loaded because it does not contain a version for the current architecture". Any ideas on this?

Thanks. I already did all of that. A couple of times.
Checking all the sites it looks like there is confusion about what driver I should be using. I did get the latest one from the Epson site. I am confident it is the correct one. But then I read on both the Epson and Apple sites that the OS already has the latest version and not to install another one. So I wacked them all and let the OS do it. Then it installed the Gutenprint driver. And that didn't fix the issue either.
I need to read more about the Open-source printer drivers (CUPS, Gimp-Print, Easy Software Products)that seem to come with OSX.

My Photoshop CS3 wont open help!!!

Even though its old I still use PS3 and I went to open it and this window pops up with a white box and no text that I was unable to close (only the yellow dot option to minimize) It says on the top "Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended" and in the photoshop dropdown menu almost everything is greyed out and the program never opens. I really need to edit some photos please help.

PSCS3 & Bridge CS3 complete crash-Help needed

After several months both PSCS3 and Bridge CS3 crashed. After several reboots with no success, I uninstalled everything.
I then reinstalled from scratch. Installed the updates. Now Bridge will not see previously viewed original CR2 files properly. No option to open directly to Camera RAW. When I go to my backup files, the CR2 files work fine.
From original CR2 files and backup files PSCS3 crashes when attempt to move from ACR to PhotoShop.
I am processing a photoshoot. Please help.

Cannot Install CS3. Please Help.

The other day I opened up photoshop and I got a message that said, " Licensing for this product has stopped working: You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting your IT administrator or adobe customer support for help." This same message appeared with all the applications in CS3. I called customer support, they said my license is fine and to uninstall the reinstall.
Now when I reinstall it the only thing that will install is Acrobat reader 9. Is there anyone than can help me?

I am getting the exact same message and have the same problem, it won't install the other applications. Did you get an answer to your question?

CS3 Design Premium help menu

I have the CS3 Design Premium installed on my computer
and I have no help menu in any of the programs. I select Help
opening the Help window, select my program in the browse menu,
write my topic in the search box and get absolutely nothing. Did my
program not install correctly. It was so wonderful in CS2.

I was trying to activate my CS3 and got help from chat until he said it was an installing issue. The application opens and then closes unexpectedly.

I just got a new mac and I'm trying to download my Adobe CS3 onto it. I was able to download and then I tried to activate it. I entered the CS3 serial number and then asked for the serial number of the older version. I originally bought CS2 on disc and downloaded it onto my old mac and from there bought an upgrade to CS3. I no longer have the discs or box for CS2 and so I do not have the CS2 serial number. I contacted chat support who helped until I reached the point where I could open the application but then it would quit immediately and say "Adobe Update quit unexpectedly." Then he said it was an installing issue and turned me to the forums. Help, please?

JohnEden I would recommend running all available uninstallers to remove the current installation. The uninstallers are located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder. Once you have ran the uninstallers then please also utilize the CC Cleaner Tool for a complete removal. Hi, I'm new to indesign - transparency help!

Hi, I'm just designing my first mag for a client and I have two queries.
The first is an indesign error message query and the second a prepress query.
1.When I output as small file (for proofing purposes) size I get a transparency message. (See attached screen grab of indesign message.) I don't know what it means and whether this will effect printing in any way if I just ignore it ....
Also, one one spread where I have the warning I have an image that goes across the spread. The printer has said that the sky in the image on the right hand page side is different in colour to the sky slightly on the left hand page and has asked if I have put a transparent object on it?? When I view the spread in adobe it looks fine but on the printers prepress system there is a slight difference.
Are the two things connected or am I just worrying over nothing :-) Advice needed as go to press next week and don't want any nasty surprises for the client.

2. When I uploaded a few test pages to their prepress system I got some warnings regarding image resolution which I understand, but there is a warning for something called:COLOURSPACE ICCBASED was used and COLOURSPACE RGBBASED was used. I have no idea what that is? Can anybody help explain that? See 2nd image attached for pre press error message.

Thanks Willi, it's already set as that. And thay have asked for pdfs in PDF/X-3 which I have supplied.
When I look at my pages in the page view box of indesign on some of them there is a chequered box to the side of each page which when I roll my mouse over it says 'This page has a transparent object' but I can't see any transparent object when I try and find it on the page :-(

Pen Pressure works.. but not in Cs3? Please help

I'm having a problem with the pen pressure dynamics on CS3. They can't be changed.
If I change it to 'pen pressure' I get a little yellow marker next to it which I assume means its not registering or recognizing.

That blue bar goes up the harder I press so I know its working..
Every method of fixing has been tested:
Driver in the box, Latest drivers, Every driver that was available for download,
Unplug and plug,
Ctrl+Alt+Shift.
10million pc restarts.
It has always worked fine on my old computers which where xp, no problems but I got a new computer with 64bit Windows7.
As far as I can tell its photoshop thats not letting it work. CS3 is fully updated and works great aside from this problem which is stopping everything.

Ok its fixed! Thanks guys!
Exactly what I did for those who want to know:
Opened photoshop with Ctrl+Alt+Shift and hit the pop up button
I then made the brush settings to normal and not pen pressure and closed it down.
Start -> Control Panel -> Programs/Uninstall a program -> Uninstalled Wacom tablet file
Went onto that link provided http://www.wacom.com/downloads/drivers.php
Selected Intuos GD and Windows 7.
I then downloaded the oldest driver down the bottom (Which apparently was the first one compatable with windows 7)
Installed and accepted the restart notification.
Before I checked Photoshop I opened Paint and tested the pen pressure on various brushes and kept it open
Then opened photoshop and put the settings on pen pressure again and it worked!
Doing it exactly like that was what seemed to get it working propperly.

Bridge CS3 Manage Color Help menu wrong

The Help menu says-
Preferences (Mac OS), and click Advanced.
Select Enable Color Management In Bridge.
HOWEVER, the options I get when I go to Preferences and Click advanced DO NOT have Select Enable Color Management in Bridge as an option, see enclosed screen capture of the Bridge Preferences.
Color is going very wrong on my Xerox DocuColor 240, so I'm reviewing the color workflow from input to output.I have already downloaded and installed profiles spefic to my Doc 240, however, I'm having trouble figuring out how best to make use of them. Information as to the interactions between ColorSync and CS3 would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, that is not helpful anymore:P . That only applies to the original 2.0.0 build. The preference was removed and color management is On for all updates (2.0.1 - 2.1.1) when applicable. Draft thumbnails are not managed, along with some formats. This option also only described on screen display and has no impact on print output.
You will probably have better luck asking in the application forum that covers your printing output application, and or image editing/compositing application. Or maybe try the Color managementforum.

Nikon Capture and Adobe LR or CS3: saved NEF help

I have Nikon Capture 4 because it is (nearly) impossible to live without, but I rarely use it because it is so awful. Now I'm in one of those situations where I need it, before I import the NEFs to LR. I need some help.
Capture allows me subtract a sensor Dust Map from NEFs. It works remarkably well. But, when I save the "cleaned" file as an NEF and import into LR where my workflow lives, the saved file isn't clean. Opening in CS3 is no different, either.
In Nikon's documentation, these words suggest where the problem lies, but I can't quite figure out what it means. "NEF images created in Nikon Capture 4 can only be opened in Nikon Capture 4, or in Adobe Photoshop 6.0 or later using the Nikon NEF filter supplied with this product. "
Any ideas what I might be doing wrong would be greatly appreciated.

There is very little danger anyway. It is quite hard to damage your sensor because of the filter that they stick on top and you really have to be rather heavyhanded (read grinding sand over it) to do damage. You can make it more dirty but damage? I probably saved enough money doing it myself instead of sending it in to pay for another body. I am not advocating everybody doing it themselves if you're not comfortable with it, but really, there is enough info on the web to do it safely and cheaply in my opinion.
I usually just put my camera in cleaning mode (shutter open, mirror up) and blow with one of the rocket rubber thingies (works 9 out of 10 times) or when it is really stuck, use a simple $10 static brush (great simple solution!) or one of the folded PEC-Pad thingies with clean methanol. Works perfectly and I have never had a problem. I have been told by more adventurous souls that taking a shopvac near the sensor mount works fine too, but I wouldn't do that ever as I would be too scared of damaging the mirror mechanism or the shutter, never mind that most shopvacs only exist in very dusty atmospheres.

CS3 Color Customizer Help

I'm trying to duplicate the customizer found here:

But make a few tweaks to it. I'm using CS3 and AS3 to build the file but really am a novice with working in any kind of action script. I was able to get the file this far:

There are really 4 changes I'm trying to figure out.
1. need to figure out the if statement that would change the color on the logo to white if the background was dark.
2. need to figure out how to do the "embossed" colors which I assume would be an overlay of a graphic
3. need to figure out how to get color names to show. I can get it display the hex numbers, but not sure how to change the name
4. I'd like to eventually figure out how to have the color pickers transfer the color to an html dropdown. I actually wouldn't mind getting rid of the color box pickers if I could get the dropdown to feed the flash file.
Are there any tutorials or online help sources that you'd suggest to accomplish these things?

That's mean:
