For CDR (Corel Draw format), just save your Illustrator file in a version of .AI (Adobe Illustrator format) that your version of Corel Draw can open.
Understand: Whether talking about WMF (Windows MetaFile), CDR, AI, or many others, no such export/import filters result in perfect language "conversions," as if converting a base ten number to base 2. Each software/platform specific format has its own proprietary constructs which don't necessarily have an accurately corresponding construct in the another. So you don't want to use such "conversions" as a routine back-and-forth workflow. There will often be "clean-up" work to perform in the receiving program, and "live" feature-based elements will be broken down to more basic constructs.

I have a big archive full of technical illustrations, designed by me in the past, saved as EMF or WMF files, very good and lightweight to import in Word documents.
In the past, Adobe Bridge (CS3 at least) was able to show thumbnails and preview of such a file type.
Now it is impossible, for me, to search and retrieve, fast enough, old files.
Is there a way to let Bridge returns to show this files?

Hi Ram,
You can see the objects included in a transport request by going to se09 and opening your transport request and drill down to the task and below the task you would have all the objects that are included in the tranport. You can also use se03 to get the details by drilling down the tansport request.
The problem with importing the function module might be because either the function module or the function group may not be active which may cause the tranport to fail. please check if both are active or not.

These are not support file formats within Photoshop Touch. You could convert to .jpeg or .psd through Photoshop or Corel.

Difference between CDR of Syslog and CDR of File Accounting methot(FTP)

Hi all.I am trying to develop an application for my thesis that will calculate CDRs of CME for billing purpose.I have a model that uses CDR from syslog server but I want to do this with File Accounting by sending cdr files to a FTP server as .CSV format and then analyse fields.
What I want to know is:
Does a CDR file in Syslog server and a CDR file in FTP server(By File Accounting method) has the same fields?
If I know how to analyse the fields in CDR of syslog do I know how to analyse fields of a CDR file sent to a FTP server(by file accounting method) also ??!

Hi Nikki, welcome! Not sure if my answers would clear up some of your confusion but here goes:
And this would only probably applies when you publish to .Mac, i.e. if you have a .Mac membership, not sure if you FTP or publish elsewhere
1. You create a SITE, this site can contain only 1 or more pages.
2. First time creating and publishing from iWeb, we choose "Publish All to .Mac"
3. Subsequent updates of each page, or adding of a new page, "Publish to .Mac" would do, it will publish only the new content to .Mac server
Under some circumstances when we need to "Publish ALL" again:
1. Something went haywire with the .Mac website, either just 'publish all', or we have to mount the iDisk, manually delete everything in there and re-publish.
2. When you create a new additional page, i.e. for festive reasons, e.g. a greetings page, and then you want to take it down, or delete it. You may have to do a 'publish all' again, instead of just 'publish'

FrameMaker 8 and WMFs (and Vista)

I don't have any clue what is going on but I have been using FrameMaker 8 since the start and as soon as I upgraded to Vista SP1 I've seen something that doesn't make sense.
A little history...
For vector drawings I (like most of you) use Microsoft Visio 2003 for vector drawings. The best consistent quality output I've found without rasterizing is to export as WMF (not EMF) and import as a File relative WMF file. Without any need for scaling, under Windows XP SP2 all vector art rendered successfully.

I recently updated to FM 8 Build 273 (that WAS interesting, jeez) and also upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate SP1. Everything runs quite well (contrary to other forum discussions) but the WMF graphics are too large by about 20%. I have to know scale everything to 80%. Crap. What is really odd is that the original artwork is rendered fine under FM 8 and if I simply re-export under Visio again (under Windows Vista) and re-import it in FM 8 I have to re-scale the images between 75 and 80%.
Is anyone else seeing this? It almost feels like Windows Vista has changed its WMF format. In fact I did a file compare and the files (generated under Windows XP SP2 compared to Windows Vista Ultimate SP1) are exactly the same EXCEPT some of the content is different! (I think EMF gives the same problem.)

The WMF format is not the best for use in FM as some information is
not properly carried across (such as fonts, curves are not truly
smooth mathematical entities, and so on). Visio's EPS export has
always tended to be flawed, so the best quality for publishing is to
create a PDF from Visio and then either crop and export an EPS from
Acrobat or use the PDF directly in FM. I create the EPS in Acrobat and
have never had any problems.

WMF and Indesign Problems

Hi all
here I have problem with WMF files. I placed WMF file in indesign, when I created my postscript(PS) file from indesign, I am getting all the WMF files are in color(CMYK) mode in PDF. I have some color images placed in my indesign docuemnt so I cant change the document print mode to gray. I just want to print only WMF as gray.
I want to print pdf in gray mode, any one got this type of problem before how can I handle this?

Open the files in Illustrator and convert to grayscale there. Save as .ai and place those in ID.

Importing/editing FLV file from pc and making dvd

Hi everybody... new Mac user/owner here... virgin sorta hehe.
I am an internet broadcaster who has to stream via pc. Once I have finnished show, I need to get said file in to my Mac and edit with Imovie...I think. I have been trying to do this with toast8.4 but everytime I make a dvd with toast... IMovie only can see files ads FLV and won't open.
Any suggestions for this rookie would be appreciated

A coworker taught me how to create a "macro" for doing this. Under Windows, choose actions, at the bottom there is a symbol for "create new action".
The click the record button, and go through the motions of select object, text objects; transform each; etc...
The software I am useing to create these data plots only has WMF and PNG as output formats. I need to change font sizes etc in Illustrator,
so I need the WMF format and not a bitmapped format (same for using a "screen grab" to get a JPG or similar from the Windows screen).
Up until a year ago, Illustrator was importing the WMF files with no trouble. It only started inverting the text when I upgraded hardware
and software on my Mac.
I have several other Windows-Only programs that export WMF files, and the text elements are not inverted in any of the others. So
this problem is not simply a "bug" in Illustrator, it seems specific to the plots exported by this one peice of Windows software. I will
write to the authors of that software to allert them of the trouble.

Generally when creating a Word file from either a Mac or Win7 pc and opening it on two different machines (either one first) it always prompts that the file is open and will be opened as read only. However opening a CSS file does not prompt that it is alr

Generally when creating a Word file from either a Mac or Win7 pc and opening it on two different machines (either one first) it always prompts that the file is open and will be opened as read only.
However opening a CSS file does not prompt that it is already open on or from any machine which is causing code edits to be lost.
What we found from out testing:
- The file can be saved from one user to the server and WILL NOT PROMPT on other machines until the saving machine has the Dreamweaver program closed completely
- The file can be closed and Dreamweaver minimised to the launch bar but it still will not register on other machines that it has been changed.
- Also, until the Dreamweaver program is closed on the machines, it will continue to open it's saved version of the file.
Example Scenario:
- User 1 opens test.css (which is 2000 lines) and adds some code to the end of the file to bring it up to 2500 lines
- Meanwhile User 2 opens test.css as well (opens as 2000 lines as User 1’s edits have not yet been saved) and adds in code to bring it to 2300 lines
- User 1 saves his file and closes it - but Dreamweaver is still open.
- User 2 also saves his file and leaves Dreamweaver open.
- The server will report the size and last edit of the file the same as User 2 as he was the last person to save it (and if you open from the Win7 Machine it will show as User 2’s 2300 line version)
- If User 1 then open's the file again (from either the 'recent' in Dreamweaver OR clicking on the file directly in Finder...which version opens.... The version that User 1 saved! Not the true version on the server, but the version that User 1 edited and saved with 2500 lines in it.
- Same for User 2, he will open 'his' version with 2300 lines in.
Other information:
- Files are opened directly from the server
- Sometimes the users will save incrementally and re-open
- Most of the time users will save incrementally and keep the files open
- The users will never not save incrementally and just save when closing the file once finished
- The users are usually working on the files all day
- It is always the bottom lines of code that are lost. It could be a case of the two versions being mixed up and cutting off the newly added lines based on the line count (possibly).
It is as if Dreamweaver is holding a cache of the version locally and then only properly looking back to the server when it has been completely closed. It is very difficult to see how the server is causing such an impact on these files, there are very few logs which are giving any indication to the root cause of the problems.
Anyone know if this is a known issue?
Is there a way that there can be a featured implemented on the server that doesn't allow another user to open a file if it is already open on another machine?

Your server file handling has nothing, and really nothing to do with Adobe software. If files don't get locked for (over-)writing and/or lose connection to the program opening them, then your server is misconfigured. It's as plain and simple and that. Anything from "known file types"/ file associations not being set correctly, MIME types being botched, crooked user privileges and file permissions, missing Mac server extensions, delayed file writing on the server, generic network timeout issues and what have you. Either way, you have written a longwinded post with no real value since you haven't bothered to provide any proper technical info, most notably about the alleged server. Either way, the only way you can "fix" it is by straightening out your server and network configuration, not some magic switch in Adobe's software.

From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

Can't open CR2 files in photoshop and camera raw

This weekend I rented a Canon 5D Mark iii. I have downloaded the files and all of the thumbnails in camera raw say CR2 and when I try to open Photoshop does not recognize this product.
I have:
Photoshop CS4
Camera Raw CS4
Canon 5D Mark ii
I have checked my updates folder and all my updates are current. Do I need to upgrade to CS5 or is there a way around this?

Hi I recently had a problem opening CR2 files in PHotoshop cs4. I had to reinstall into a new computer, so obviously it installed the basic programme and not the updates.
After trying everything, even calling the help desk, there was apparently nothing that can be donw as they no longer support cs4.
I kept trying and found a you tube video, which i cant find again to add the link but i followed the link and with what I did earlier I can now open CR2 files in my photoshop cs4
I found the relevany update that I needed to install and downloaded it, camera raw 5.2 ( Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Camera Raw 5.2 update ) this is the one for the Canon 5d Mk2
After downloading it would not update the progeramme so I was in the same possition, but i noticed the files were there and i just needed to put them in the right place in photoshop so carried on looking for were to put the Plus In.
This led me to the video.
To the point.
Download the update and save to a location where you will remember.
open Adobe photoshop and go to "edit"
Them " Preferences "
then "General "
Then " Plus-Ins"
At the top you will see " Add Plug-Ins Folder " Check this box then navigate to the "win64" ( this is because mine is a windows 64 bit computer and the download is specific ) and Choose it.
Shut down photo shop and try to open a raw.
Bridge doesnt work for some reason but im going to keep looking.

I am opening this thread on behalf of my colleague Merja regarding a problem while trying to print using the Integrated ITS 6.40.
The problem happens when using webgui directly. Support Package level is 21 and kernel 640 patch 196. Note 771683 regarding printer with access
method 'F' and device type 'PDF1' is already in place. 'Output immediately' opens the preview. Error still exists when using "print preview" button.
The issue occurs when trying to review the Employment Contract within the portal UI. The actual print is finished correctly but the "Print Review" function returns HTTP 500 error, "The file is damaged and it can not be repaired".
When we perform the same activity in system R/3 within the transaction SE38, with our Z-program everything works correctly and no problems occur.
Could you please help solving this issue?

Not sure if the flollowing will be of use, but worth a try?…
Try changing the .ai to .eps or .pdf to see if anything happens to see if it makes a difference to importing or exporting as a pdf?
If you have Indesign, try importing the file into Indesign then saving that file as a pdf or/and export as a Indesign eps file.

I guess I miss something. How can I share a folder of photos? When I return from a shoot, I select 20 of the pictures and need to share them with my client to pick up the favorites. Am I supposed to copy and past an URL for each image separately?
Sometimes I also work with a colleague, I need to share my favorites with him. Same issue.
We have tried Adobe Cloud, and then went for Dropbox. There we can share a folder and he can put even his pictures in it as well. That's what I call collaboration. And it is free (unlike Adobe Cloud). If you have some word in Adobe, please tell them to either drop it and make a deal with services like Dropbox, or make it properly.
