AI/PDF/... - SWF with *original* images?

Using Xara, I have created a vector illustration. However, when exporting it to SWF, Xara re-rasterizes all images to a common resolution.
I do not want that!
I want to have the images untouched, because later I want to zoom in on them (in Prezi). I can however, export from Xara to PDF or AI without having the images re-rasterized. This makes me wonder:
Is there any way (software) to convert a vector illustration (PDF, AI, ...) into SWF and leave the embedded images at their original resolution and quality?
By the way, I do know that it is possible to import PDF into Prezi, and then - I presume - Prezi converts it to SWF. However, for various reasons, I don't want to use this option.

which is why i suggested that you should experiment to find what works best
The only problem: I don't have AI installed on my machine. So experimentation is a hassle. I was hoping that there is someone on this forum who knows which tools to use for the described purpose. Perhaps even AI is the wrong tool. There is also, for example, PDF2SWF, which is of very light weight. I just tried out PDF2SWF, but unfortunately it doesn't import my PDF correctly.
with a high resolution...
That's the wrong approach for usage of the SWF in Prezi. I simply want all images in their original resolution. Just take the time and read carefully what I wrote in my initial post...

  • How can I programatically identify PDF files with embedded images?

Our company has 27,266,949 .PDF files that we're planning to compress in order to save server space.
We don't want to compress any of the .PDF files that have embedded images as to not alter the image's state.
How can we programatically create a list to exclude from the compression process?

Ah, see told you we were new to this and no, my taxs already have enough digits to the balance.
Ok, so based on that, we should be able to use the preflighting tool to identify the PDF’s with images, factor them out, and then continue with lossless compression on the remaining balance.
That will give us the compression we need to save space, but also allow us to stand in the court of law (if the scenario was to ever occur) and proclaim that none of our medical images have ever been altered by compression.
    Sound like a reasonable plan?

  • PDF annotation with link, image doesn't show, only in print or Google Chrome, not Adobe Reader main

We are creating PDF files with annotations, we are using the O2 Solutions PDF Library for C#. We used to create PDFStampAnnotations, but now we want to make the images clickable, to navigate to the URL belonging to the image.
Therefore, we are now using PDFLinkAnnotations, with a PDFImageAppearance.
We set the flags of the annotation to Print.
However, the annotation won't show in the PDF in Adobe Reader. It does show in the Google Chrome inline PDF viewer.
It also shows in the print preview window in Adobe Reader.
But it does not show in the normal view in Adobe Reader. What we do see is, when hovering over the rectangle that should contain our image, our mouse cursor becomes a hand and a tooltip with the link is displayed. If we click, everything works as expected. But we don't see an image!
What can we do about this? This is really annoying, as I don't have a clue why it won't work. Actually, to me, this looks like a bug in Adobe Reader?

    Thank  you for your reply.
Indeed, I tried saving a PDF that had the "default appearance", it shows exactly the same. So it looks like it "can't" show the image.
However, of course, I do want the image to be shown. How can I achieve this? How can I tell Adobe Reader (and other PDF viewers) I really really realllyyyyy want to see that image there? I believe I'm not doing anything really exotic, right? There must have been tons of other people that wanted to do the same thing, I guess?

  • Using PDF's with Webcenter Imaging

    Hey
We are installing an automated AP solution using WebCenter imaging and our client has dictated that invoices must be scanned to PDF to comply with State Govt requirements. However, this conflicts with our IPM build as we are using WebCenter Capture and it only inputs invoices in TIF format. We have told them that we can scan to TIF and output PDF using the ODC/OFR, or by converting them using IBR when the image hits WCC. The Record Manager is adamant though, and this conversation is ongoing.
In the meantime, I am trying to think laterally to find a technical solution. The only two ideas I have so far are:
    1. Use Import Server to conver scanned PDF's to TIF before batching them up.
    2. Use a third party solution to create a TIF copy of the PDF after scanning.
I'm not really happy with either idea, so I thought I'd seek the advice of the collective. Surely this must be a common-ish problem.
    Cheers,
    A

    Hi Alec,
to be precise, ODC allows inputs (in a scan profile) of TIFF, JPEG, PCX, or BMP (see http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E10316_01/capture/odcad.pdf page 11-4)
If you have images already in PDF (I guess it will be PDF/A with textual layer), the first question is: why you want to use Capture at all? Is it because you want to extract some metadata from the image? Maybe, you could, then, use OutsideIn to convert PDFs into XML (or plain text) and get your metadata from there. Afterwards, you would upload your PDF with obtained metadata directly to Imaging.
I also think that Import Server does not convert file format, but rather takes the file and adds in to a batch (for indexing/committing), so on condition that it can grab PDFs, you should be good to go with Import Server as such - it's been a while since I've done something with Import Server, so I'm not sure of all details. If you have an environment up and running, it should be easy to verify. Either way, Import and Scan are the only options to get inputs into batches, so if Import does not work for you, you can't use Capture anyway.
    I hope that helps, Jiri

  • PDFs appear with fragmented images, metadata missing

Can anyone help with this one?
We use InDesign CS3 to create PDF 1.6's, directly from InDesign export. The metadata contained in the images on the layout normally are visible when you control click and select "show metadata" on the image in the resulting PDF with Acrobat's touch up object tools. Ocassionally, there is an unknown problem in the process where a given image will "fragment" -- when you click on it in the PDF, a frame surrounds only part of the image, and there's no "show metadata" choice to select. This is kiling us because we doconstruct those PDFs and put them into our long term archive, and the metadata is missing there!
    Any help would be appreicated!
    Thanks.

Sounds like some type transparency flattening going on in there. InDesign itself has issues when exporting to lower PDF versions (1.3) and also if transparent objects are around say hyperlinks/buttons etc. The XMP data can be destroyed since it's been broken down and is not the original content any more.
Let us know if you explore in more detail in the ID forum, 2 doors down

  • PDF Report with BLOB image

I have a PDF report produced from APEX using BI Publisher. I also have up to 4 images stored in BLOB fields that I would like to include in the PDF report. I found a reference for how to do this with APEX 3.1 (using a blob2clobase64 function), however I am using APEX 3.0 and this does not seem to work with this version. Does anyone have an example of how I can achieve this with APEX 3.0 and BI Publisher? Thanks, Karen.

  • Question on PDF files with linked images (not embedded) between Reader and Illustrator

I run into situations when I get customer PDFs that need to be edited. When they load in Acrobat Reader it works fine. However if I load it into Illustrator it asks me to point it to the linked file. The question is how does Acrobat Reader open a PDF file and show a linked file when it is not embedded? Why can't Illustrator do the same thing?
This is more of a technical question, but any information would be helpful.  Thanks.

For linked images, your PDF file contains a thumbnail image along with the reference or address of the actual image. Reader will display this thumbnail. Now, wanting to edit the PDF in Illustrator, it wants to enable you working on the actual image. Hence it asks you to point to the linked file.

  • .swf with Vector images playing slllooowww

    Good Morning Fellow Developers,
haha - okay so down to business
    Flash CS4
    published with AS2.0
    Flash Player 10
The movie is 15FPS, and lasts about 16 seconds total.
With about 40 Vector images that are constantly, coming into the screen and leaving the screen - and when they're doing that they're also fading in and fading out, and resizing.  so a lot is happening on the screen... then after the 15 images or so are done swirling around, they all come in for the grand finale and this is really where it bogs down... All of them, as I said are vector images published as .swfs from Illustrator (if I tried .ai files or anything else it was tons worse).  The movie just completely bogs down, and goes very very slowly - I'm assuming this has to do with the computer trying to draw all the vector images as they are resizing, fading, and moving - etc...
The reason my client wants vector images is because of the clarity - Is there anyway to retain the clarity of these resizing images, but reducing the load on the client side so it doesn't slow down??  Any help would be great!
    - Also - while I'm here - I should probably look elsewhere, but anyone know of a quick way to expand my movie say from 16 seconds to 24 seconds? Keeping all the same animations but just slowing it down slightly so it's not so fast without redoing everything?
    K thanks

Does anyone else have any possible insight into this??
I guess the other question would be then, if I didn't want to make every image a vector one, what are the proper steps needed to make the images as clear and as crisp as possible??
Again I have Illustrator CS4, Photoshop CS4, and Flash CS4.
    Thank you!

  • Working with original image file...

I'm retouching some images and would like to preserve the original file while doing so, instead of saving multiple drafts of the image in progress in case I need to go back and change something.  Is there a way to use layers or vector masks to do this?  The history panel can only go back so far..

I like to take a snapshot (in History flyout menu) every so often so if I want to go back further than history allows I can click on a snaphot and there I am.
Also use snaphot if I am not sure my next technique will be better or worse.

I have created a basic website and wish to load an external

and load using this action script.
    btn1.onRelease = function (){
    loadMovie ("IMG_2812.jpg", _root.photo.empty)
They load fine using just the .swf file but when the .swf is

  • 3D PDF with printed image shrinked

Hi, recently I am testing the usage of 3D PDF for a project. Let me take a example: http://www.pdflib.com/fileadmin/pdflib/Cookbook/pdf/javascript_for_3d_animation.pdf
It is a pdf file with 3D image on the right of the page. I first stop the animation and then zoom the 3D model until it touches the boundary of the 3D window. Like this: http://postimg.org/image/s3wd4g72b/
Next, I tried to print it. At the preview, it looks okay. However, the printout of the image in the 3D window is somehow. Like this: http://postimg.org/image/pizz84tst/
May I know the reason and what should I do so that the size of the 3D model printout will be the same as that shown on the screen? Thanks very much.

I am experiencing the same problem too. However, I am not sure about whether the source of problem comes come whether the model is the volumetric shape or not. Because in my example, I always use closed meshes to export in .u3d format as a component to generate the pdf file. Here is the example for illustration:
    https://hotfile.com/dl/255656780/62855a4/Template.pdf.html
On the screen, I move the spheres in such a way that the red and green spheres are partially shown: http://postimg.org/image/mb8erlkfn/
But just like situation mentioned by the user "My Screen Name", the printout shows the visible parts of the red and green spheres completely:http://postimg.org/image/c4liqfy6p/
Is there anything we can do to ask acrobat to print exactly the size we adjusted on the screen? Thanks.

  • How to create multiple page PDF from multiple jpg images?

I have three jpeg images with pixel dimensions 1008 x 1464. I wish to create a PDF file with one image per page. Apparently Preview previously performed this function, and this functionality was deliberately removed by the time of Mac OS X 10.6.
I use Mac OS X 10.6.8. I have combined the images via Gimp into one jpeg image of size 1008 x 4392, but it would be better if I could create a PDF file. I have been unable to figure out how to do this via GraphicConverter, which trial version constantly displays the 30 second "buy me" window before loading -- annoying: I once accidentally opened it, and it would not let me close the application until the "buy me" window finished...
I have been able to create a PDF file through the action of "printing" (cf. https://discussions.apple.com/message/12395021#12395021), but that reduces the image size and creates a white margin around the images (as if printing on a sheet of paper), which I wish to avoid.
Thank you for your time and help!
Message was edited by: ethereality -- added another "workaround" attempt

I drag and dropped from Finder into TextEdit, and it only copied the file path as text. From what software would I drag the images into TextEdit?
First, set the TextEdit document to Rich Text Format - you can do that via the Format menu in TextEdit. This will allow the inclusion of pictures.
    Then you can either -
    • Drag an image file into the TextEdit window, and a preview-sized image will be inserted. If this is too small for your purposes -
    • Open the image file in Preview (or an image editor, if you choose), size the image to your liking, press Command-A (Select All) and the press Command-C (Copy) - doing this will place a copy of the image on the Clipboard. Then switch focus to the TextEdit document and press Command-V (Paste). This will place a large-size image of the file.

  • How do I make a PDF Slideshow from Bridge CS4 with 500 images?

Every year I go for an extended photo shooting trip. I use about 400 to 600 of the images to make a PDF slide show. This worked fine in all previous versions of Bridge, but no longer works properly in Bridge CS4. I can create PDF files with up to 329 images, but when I try to make a PDF file with more than that, the PDF file is corrupted. Sometimes, the PDF file opens, but about 10% of the image at random location are corrupted, and their thumbnails show up as white or black patches. At other times, the file does not open in Adobe Reader. I get a variety of error messages. The most common is #109.
Just to be certain it is not caused by my images, I used 550 images I had used to make a PDF show last year with Bridge CS3. I get the same problem. The slide show created last year with 550 images in Bridge CS3 still works in Adobe Reader, ruling out the Reader a being the cause of the problem. It appears that some bug has crept into the CS4 Bridge code.
Unfortunately, a while ago a deleted CS3 from my hard drives without making a copy of the downloaded dmg of CS3, so I can no longer re-install CS3. BTW, other than this bug, I am very happy with CS4. As a photographer, I find the improvements made in CS4 ACR stunning.
Is there a known work-around for this bug?
Is it likely to be fixed in an upcoming update?
Is there a way I can download a copy of CS3 allowing me to install CS3 Bridge, or, if needed, the whole CS3 suite?
(I still have a record of my CS3 registration code.)

I found an answer to my own question. A work around of sorts.
Download Photoshop Elements 6 for Macintosh. With PSE6 I made a slide show with 550 images 1920x1200, without thumbs. I ran into one problem making the slide show. My images contained 4 images which had not ben created by Photoshop and could not be included in the slide show. Opening the images in Photoshop CS4 and re-saving them still did not make then acceptable. Not a big deal. I probably could have fixed the four images by stripping all EXIF data before opening them in Photoshop. BTW, PSE6 made the slide show in demo mode.
I hope the bug in Photoshop CS4 will be fixed in Photoshop CS5.

  • PDF Printing with images

    Hello all-
I was wondering if it is possible to create a PDF document with images from a report that has images, through the FOP. I have tried this on APEX 3.2.1 and APEX 4.0.1, but with no success. I installed FOP in a standalone OC4J that I have installed on my PC and this works fine. I am using the Demonstration Application to test creating the PDF with images by trying to print page 23 - it is a report with images. I get a PDF report, but the image column is blank - no image, no errors. Has anyone been able to accomplish this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Greg

    Hi,
yes you can, this tool allows you to create FOP templates with images (look at the examples)
    http://www.java4less.com/fopdesigner/fodesigner.php?info=guide
You can of course create your own FOP templates without this tool, there is a XSL-FO tag to do that, you must make sure the images are available to the print server, either by referencing images on the file system or deploying the images in the print server.
