AIAppContextSuite - It's purpose and correct use?
Hi all,
As the title suggests, I'm interesting in knowing more about what this suite is for and in what situations it would be used if anyone could shed some light?
What interests me most is the following line in the SDK Documents:
Most plug-ins will not need to use these functions because Illustrator manages the context. In rare situations, however, a plug-in may need to make changes to the context. For example, if a plug-in can be called directly by the operating system, Illustrator will not have established the context. If the plug-in wants to make SDK calls in response, it should use PushAppContext() and PopAppContext().
So how would a plug-in be called directly by the operating system? What would be the correct steps to take to achieve this?
Thanks!
-W
It's a little hard to explain, but sometimes you can end up in a state where the API & your plug-in are out of step. This mostly happens when you respond to things that don't originate in Illustrator. For example, we use Qt for our GUI and if clicking a button on a Qt dialog caused me to have to ask something of the AI SDK, chances are I have to push the context first or it won't work. I imagine you'd see the same thing if you wrote a dialog using straight OS calls and responded to a click or something like that there too.
The results are fairly unpredictable. In some cases, the calls might work for a while and then suddenly stop with strange symptoms. I've seen AIDocumentSuite::GetDocument() return garbage or return odd error results, things like that. Push the context and it magically goes away.
To assist with this kind of thing, I wrote a class to do that automatically for me and eventually I noticed that Adobe did the samething in their sample code If you check out AppContext.h/cpp you'll see a fairly neat class. You just basically declare a variable of that type when you need to do something and that's it -- it does the rest. For example:
void foo()
AppContext context;
// do something with the API
That will push the context in its constructor, and pop it in its destructor. Pushing & popping the context never seems to hurt, though obviously its wasteful if its unnecessary. Hopefully that answers your question, but if not post again and I can try to clarify!

thank you,

Jagrut BharatKumar ShuklaBenje001,
Right-click on the CWAI control on your form. Choose Properties. The first tab is the Channels tab. After you choose your device from the drop down box on the right, you can type in the Channels box which channel you want to use.
If you want to see a CWAI control that is already configured, all of the shipping examples will have this already done.
Also, if you have questions about any item on the CWAI (or any other NI ActiveX control) you can click the ? icon in the right corner of the properties page and then click on the item in the dialog that you need help with. This "What's this" help will describe that particular control on the dialog.
Hope that helps!

I am having sporadic issues after new hard drive install and recovery using Time Machine. The same sluggish response, start up screen pixelating...If I reinstall Lion will it wipe out other applications? My HD was formatted and partitioned correctly, I have a late 2009 iMac.
Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps. -
I am using a Palm Pilot still for several purposes, and the desktop version can run om my Mac OS X 10.6.8, but I cannot find a version thjat runs on OS X Mavericks, which prevents me from upgrading as my PalmPilot is storage for vital info. Any solution?
Thank for for your suggestions. Unfortunately they are of little help. I am running on Snow Leopard and the PalmDesktop works fine. However, I do not want to quit my PalmTungsten unit as it is my backup for all my important access information. If it cannot run on Mavericks and no other solution is at hand, I simply will not update my OS X, but work on my Snow Leopard as it is.
I do not know how on earth I can migrate the information from my Palm into another system, and then quit the PalmPilot. If you have any intelligent solutions to this I would appreciate an input. A manual copy and paste solution is not acceptable. I may however run it on Windows via Parallel Desktop, but it is a lousy solution, and demonstrates (again) the weakness of Apple's OS and lack of compatibility. I am not impressed by the OS X performance.
Thank your for your attention. -

I had Snow Leopard and was using iWeb and Filezilla for my website (not MobileMe). Wanting to move to single-click publishing (supported by MobileMe), I now find it is not supported by iCloud and Mountain Lion. I feel cheated, having bought it mainly for this purpose! The other thing they don't tell you is that Mountain Lion disables OfficeMac, and I am considering uninstalling it for that reason - do I get my money back?!
You stated; "Mountain Lion disables OfficeMac"
That is not true.
Mountain Lion does not have Rosetta so it is not capable of executing PowerPC code. If you have MS Office 2004 that is coded in PowerPC code and will not run in Mountain Lion. What you need to do is upgrade to an Intel version of Office.

I've a test version in use for testing purposes and want to buy it now without loosung the files.
Just buy it and enter your serial key.

I am trying to use Photoshop 10. After my catalog loads. I am told to log into my account. My user name is correct and I use a new password. That password lets me log in to my Adobe account and even allowed me to load a 30 day trial of PS14i After I enter the password I am never allowed to go any further, What do I need to do to get into my catalog?
I regret that you're having trouble setting up your email, corbad! You're on the right track with your incoming email address. You might also try incoming.verizon.net or incoming.yahoo.verizon.net as possible alternatives, and 995 as the port number. Please let me know how that goes!

Using WEB Output HTML Gallery and uploading using ftp upload the HTML page views correctly but images only display the alt tag in the browser window?
After a little investigation, I discovered that PNGs also do not render correctly in IE7 in similar circumstances.
I ended up using Levels in Photoshop to bring the output blacks up to "5", saved the images as PNGs, modified the HTML from .jpg to .png, and that seems to have covered up the problem well enough.
By the way, I did confirm that IE8 beta 2 renders the images correctly.

Purpose and use of item category Text (6)
What is the Purpose and use of item category Text (6).
it is meant for which biz scenario? Thanks for your explanation.
Sorry I am not convinced on this biz scenario what has been posted. Why to enter just the text in the form of PO and maintain record in the system . One can send a word document or simply put a call to outside party for sending legal document.
Moreover it hardly matters whether the PO is of less value or nil value. In standard also we use free goods in PO also. SAP, I think without any specific reason will not provide item category Text "T"- there must be some strong reason for it.
Also please note that item category text T is also allowed in scheduling agreement for document type LP and LPA. then simply entering text in scheduling agreement for item category does not make any business sense.
If anybody has come across the biz scenario, please share in the forum. I searched and went to thread on similar topic but could not find any convincing answer on this. -
have to run windows in safe mode with network to have browserws work correctly. using IE and Firefox. Fist web site comes in correctly next tab just sites waiting for web site Help
If it works in Windows Safe mode then you have a problem with other software, possibly security software or a system driver, that is running on your computer.<br />
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

There is an eula on the main web page of Adobe that you can read. Just search for it. Be specific with the search for example eula for lightroom or eula for Photoshop CC 2014. -
I have a Macbook Pro and an Apple TV. What I'd like to do is stream a movie from my CinemaNow Account to my television by using my Apple TV and my Macbook. I know that I can do this my using the mirroring feature, however then I can no longer use my Macbook for anything else because my TV will only display what is on the screen of my Macbook. Now with this is mind, what then is the point of having multiple displays through the use of my Apple TV, if only one display can be used at a time unless they both show the same image? Or is there a way for me to be able to stream the movie to my TV and still use my Macbook for other purposes (multi-tasking)?
To enable a second display over AirPlay, you first need to be connected to the same network as your Apple TV. Next, open System Preferences > Displays, and select your Apple TV from the “AirPlay Display” drop-down menu.
Once you do this, your display may flash as the second display connection is acquired, and the Apple TV takes over as the second display. If the displays are mirrored, then you can correct this by opening the “Arrangement” tab in System Preferences > Displays, and ensuring that the “Mirror Displays” checkbox is unchecked.
In this same “Arrangement” tab, you can move the displays around in the pane to ensure that they're positioned correctly, relative to your physical space (usually side-by-side, or top-down). The primary display here is denoted here by the Menu bar on the display. The arrangement helps with being able to drag windows from one display to the next: if your secondary display is arranged to be to the right of your primary one, for example, you can drag things to it through the right side of your primarcy screen.
