AICS 5 and Mavericks compatibility?

I am a hold-out user of AICS5. Is anyone using it successfully with Mavericks? I don't NEED to updgrade, just curious.

Hi,
I have the same problem. Mac Pro 3,1 with EVGA GTX 680 Mac Edition, 30''-ACD plays fine including brightness control, but 2nd screen (old 23''-ACD via ADC-DVI-Adapter) shows no brightness control. Has been all ok under Mountain Lion before.
I just filed a bug report at Apple's feedback page.

After installing Mavericks I can't set the brightness of a 20 inches Cinema Display (ADC) anymore, options are just gone.
Anyone experienced the same? I already have reset the PRAM but it didn't fix it.
I'm using a Macbook 5,5 with an Apple DVI to ADC converter.

  • Compatibility issues with CS5.5 and Maverick 10.9

I'd like to know if there are any compatibility issues with CS5.5 and Maverick 10.9 before I upgrade from 10.6.8.

To be honest, I use the CS5 Premium Creative Suite and have had to upgrade all my app's to Mavericks because I have a new iMac, the other one just died.
I used the 'Time Machine' to backup and to transfer all the files, the Mac apps almost transferred 100% but not all successfully, especially iDVD, it was probably something that I did not click in the 'Time Machine preferences'.
If I had the choice, upgrade to 'Mountain Lion, I would revert back to Mountain Lion but not got the discs, I find Mavericks very clunky and slow and causing lots of issues with my Adobe applications.
So if it is not too late, I would wait a few months before upgrading to Mavericks.
    Hope this info' has helped.

Are there ANY compatibility issues with Itunes 12.0.1 and Mavericks?  Don't want to download Yosemite.  Not hearing good things about it.  I'm on Mavericks 10.9.5.

one obstacle, quickly removed. thank you.
nomenclature aside for a moment, 10.6.8 is correct but maybe more is necessary about the MacBook Pro: it is 'old': Identifier: 1.2, Intel Core Duo, 2.16 GHz, 1 Processor, L2 2 MB, RAM 2 GB.
i hope that is enough to get an answer to this: is it unadvisable to update its OS; in other words, if i update to 10.9, will the machine be able to handle it, 'speedwise'?

  • Adobe apps and Mavericks

For anyone wondering if their Adobe apps will work with Mavericks and how well:

    Hello Sheena,
Thank you for your reply. I believe that when trying to promote a controversial system like the Creative Cloud, everything should work flawlessly. A special CC installer is needed to install the CC Desktop, then you have to spend hours reading and trying to make this work. It’s really frustrating.
Fortunately, this milestone made me realize that perhaps Lightroom is not for me anymore. I have been an ardent fan of Adobe’s photo products, have bought many of them for years, almost since the first versions of Photoshop, but last year I wasn’t able to buy Photoshop CS6 – it had to be through the CC. I like to buy a product, own its license for whatever time I choose and then buy a new one if it pleases me. I cannot do this in the CC, where I am forced to continue paying for a product no matter what (it is a curtailment of the freedom of choice).
I also learned that in the very near future Lightroom could also be included in that ominous list of products in the CC., so I believe this is the time to say good-by to Adobe photo products. It is a shame that a marketing strategy that worked so well since the beginning of Photoshop, should now be substituted for such a widespread-disliked experiment called the Creative Cloud. Perhaps it works fine for large businesses, but not for smaller ones, the ones that put Photoshop and Lightroom where they are now.
Adobe, we made you grow and now you think you don't need us anymore, so you dump us.
    Good-by and good luck, Adobe.

  • Logic Pro X and Mavericks

For anyone thinking about upgrading to Mavericks...... (OS X 10.9)
    Firstly, don't upgrade straight away!!!!!
Only do so if you have full clone backups of your system HD. Use something like Carbon Copy Cloner or Superduper! to make a clone of your current  system disk before you try and install Mavericks... and please do not rely on Time Machine backups.. as in the past, these types of backups have no provided full protection after upgrading the OS. Only a decent cloned image of your system drive, that you can easily and quickly restore from, will provide you with that safety net just in case anything goes wrong... so you can just restore from the cloned image and be back where you started from prior to the upgrade to 10.9
Wait a few days until some of the Users here and elsewhere..  have tested out the combination of LPX and the Public Release version of Mavericks.... I know it's very tempting to use the 'latest and greatest' stuff... but if you rely on your current setup in any real sense... hold off and see what the general option is in regards to compatibility with Drivers/Hardware and Software/plugins etc.... and you will save yourself a lot of potential headaches....
    The most common issues after performing a major OS X upgrade are;
    1) Driver/hardware incompatibility,...... Do not upgrade unless you know for sure your Audio/Midi interfaces have drivers with full Mavericks compatibility, ready for installation. Check with the device's Websites before even thinking about upgrading! No update or comfirmation of working fine? Don't upgrade!!
    2) 3rd party apps and plugin incompatibility. Again, wait and confirm any plugins and other apps you use/need are fully 10.9 compatibile.... before upgrading.
    3) Initial bugs.... All OS updates will have some bugs in them initially. .. Its the 'nature of the beast'. No matter how much Beta testing is done, bugs do and will slip through the cracks.... So, wait until at least the first couple of bug fixes are released to correct these enevitable issues... before making the transition.
The above is just some friendly advice from someone who has made all of these mistakes in the past (and paid for it!)  It's your choice to follow it or ignore it of course...... but history tells us that those who just charge ahead and upgrade tend to suffer for it later.. Just looking at the hundreds of posts that were made here by users with issues.. after Mountain Lion was released.. willl confirm this....
    Cheers..

How would you rate the overall feel of the OS. Smooth, any graphic glitches or halting when using the browser?
Nothing I could easily identify Pancenter... Everything seems to be running for me, as it did in ML..... I do not sense any real improvements or degradation between ML and Mav though in fairness, I haven't spent that much time with Mav other than working/testing with Logic... and as far as Logic itself is concerned.. everything is running as smoothly as ever for me.
To be honest, there is nothing new in Mav that would really make me want to go update.... and so i am glad they have made it a free update because i doubt I would have spent any money doing so.. I don't use Laptops these days so the battery saving stuff is of little interest.. and most of my Macs have stacks of RAM so the RAM compression stuff doesn't really do much for me... I've been using XtraFinder (a wonderful free app I should add if you do a lot of file moving)  for a while now so the new Tabs feature in Finder isn't something I was waiting for...
The only new feature in Mav i have really found myself using a great deal while I was testing the various Dev releases on one of my testbed systems.. is File Tagging which is great for tagging samples etc... to easily find/track stuff scattered around my various Macs here..
Do you have an iLok by any chance and, if so, are you using the new iLok Licence Manager software ?
Sorry but No. I don't use any iLok protected products these days... I used to but nowadays the only dongle protection products I use are those using Elicensor.. which btw works fine with 10.9 it seems.. Just started up VEP5 without issue...

  • EndNote and Mavericks

Since installing Mavericks I discovered today that EndNote will not open, producing an error message: :Unable to load: /Applications/EndNote X5/EndNote X5.app/Contents/Resources/EnCore.bundle"
I guess I need to wait for an update from EndNote or the OS for these to be compatible? Has anyone else had this problem? EndNote is at the core of my work, so this is a bit of a problem.
    Tom.

It seems EndNote will not be making an update / patch for X5 (according to yhayashi), so the only solution is to get a copy of either X6 or X7, both of which work with MS Word under Mavericks. I would suggest checking with EndNote online, via their customer support link, and asking the question. My University has made X7 available for Mac OS 10.9 users, in light of this incompatibility.
A quick search of the EndNote Knowledgebase produces this:
EndNote Mac: OS X 10.9 Mavericks Compatibility
    EndNote X7
We have tested EndNote X7 with Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks to determine compatibility. We have found some minor issues and are working on a free update patch to be released in the next few weeks.
    EndNote X6
EndNote X6 is not officially compatible with Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks. We are testing EndNote X6 with Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks to determine informal compatibility and will report any exceptions found on this page.
    EndNote X5 and earlier
Due to major compatibility issues, it is not recommend to attempt to use EndNote X5 or earlier on OS X 10.9.
When attempting to launch EndNote X5 or earlier, a warning message comes up that will include "unable to load ....ENCore.Bundle". EndNote X5 and earlier will fail to launch after receiving this message. There are no known workarounds for this issue besides moving to a more recent version of EndNote or restoring your computer  (using a Time Machine Backup for example) to a previous version of Mac OS X.

  • OS X Mavericks Compatibility with 2009 Macbook Pro's

Can anyone shed some light on compatibility of os x mavericks with a 2009 macbook pro? I heard that it may slow down my comuter? I just wanted to seek out some information before downloading it. If it just slows down my older mac, I have no use for it.

Hey man I'm no Mac expert but what I'm about to say came from one. When each OS comes out there are always going to be ppl crying about them. I have been one of those ppl with past OS. However a guy from apple suggested something to me one time that I personally have found to work in the past and it worked again with mav to my surprise. Basically when you install any operating system apple will just upgrade what you have for you. I personally done understand why that is the root of the problem, but with mountain lion and mavericks I know all kinds of people with new macs who have upgraded and everything has just fallen apart. But the guy at apple hit said what you really need is a clean install. It's time consuming, it's tedious, you have to redownload all your programs and set your settings back but it's worth it. First move all of your files on to you to your hard drive that you want to keep. Then completely wipe your hard drive and follow forums on the Internet to do a clean install.  I have a 2009 Mac that  mavericks is working great on. No speed loss. I really like it.

  • I to use iphoto library manager to save corrupted iphoto and each time it saves some and the first time it brings up iphoto, iphone goes into "not responding" mode.  Using mac book pro, iphoto 9.5.1, and maverick 10.9.2.

I've had issues with my iPhoto "not responding" and as a result I am attempting to save my photos to an external hard drive using iPhoto library Manager but each time I start the program it saves some, and then when it starts iPhoto, iPhoto then goes into not responding mode. Using mac book pro, iphoto 9.5.1, and maverick 10.9.2. I have completed all of the photo library first aid steps several times, but it makes no difference, iphoto eventually goes to "not responding."  Initial issues started with Time Machine back ups stopping because of iphoto. Thanks......

Do you have a back up?
If you're just trying to recover the photos you can do that much more simply:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Originals' or 'Masters'. (varies according to the version of iPhoto)
Your photos are inside - these are the originals as imported from your camera.

  • I have a serious (and bizarre!) issue with my novation impulse (Although i've tried it with two other keyboards and i still have the same problem) and its compatibility with mainstage 3

i have a serious (and bizarre!) issue with my novation impulse (Although i've tried it with two other keyboards and i still have the same problem) and its compatibility with mainstage 3.
the problem is best explained on the following one - page thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3951518?start=0&tstart=0
(Clearly i'm not alone in this problem, although i think i figured out what's going wrong a little more than he did...read on!)
his solution, to put mainstage in jump mode, is very unsatisfactory to me, as it bounces all of a sudden to drastically different settings.
basically, my analysis is that my controller is NOT receiving MIDI date from mainstage.  in other words, mainstage knows what my controller is doing, but my controller doens't know what mainstage is doing.
let's say i turn the knob all the way to the right ... 127...and the virtual fader goes to the right like it's supposed to.
now...next...let's say i change to a different patch, where that same VIRTUAL fader is not at the max clockwise position..maybe it's only at 1pm.  now when i turn the physical knob to the RIGHT, the midi data is still at 127 on the controller!  it didn't "reset" to sync up with the new level (say 80 or so) setting on the new patch.  so i can't increase that new setting of 80 by continuing to turn the knob to the right.  i have to turn it all the way to zero,...and then continue PAST zero until the controller thinks that IT is at 0...at that point the controller and mainstage are in agreement, and things work fine....so bascially, the keyboard thinks the level is at max...but mainstage thinks the level is at 1pm.
i am using Logic 9, and i have a macbook pro 2.9 Ghz I7 with 8 gigs of memory and OS X 10.8.4

  • TS4001 How can I share Safari bookmarks between two iCloud accounts using IOS 7 and Mavericks?

Before iOS 7 and Mavericks, we were able to share Safari bookmarks between all of our devices.  My wife had the primary iCloud account which was setup to share bookmarks, contacts, calendars and reminders.  A secondary iCloud account was setup on my phone for only my email.  Each phone had our private email accounts segregated and we shared all the bookmarks, contacts, calendars and reminders.  When I saved a bookmark on my phone, I could see it later on our iMac or iPad.  Now only my wife can sync bookmarks between her phone and the iMac or iPad.  This *****!!  This worked beautifully before we upgraded to the latest versions of OS & iOS.  Is there a work around or a new way to set things up?  I don't want to be stuck reading Safari on my phone when I have a 24" iMac sitting in the living room.  I don't want to see all of my wife's email on my phone either.  Do we need three iCloud accounts now?  One main for sharing and two separate accounts for only email?  Need help!  Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

    David,
Thanks for the reply.  That's how I set it up originally.  Although the new iOS 7 update lost some functionality.  I found the following on the TUAW website.  The Safari Bookmarks and Find My Phone options have been removed from the secondary iCloud accounts options.  This is the problem.  Everything worked great before we updated.  I guess "new way" consolidates the iCloud accounts better with Maverick?  Now I will have extra documents on my phone that I don't need.  We will both have to share the same iCloud storage and backup space too.  Have to try it out and see how it works. Thanks.

  • How can I get the Microsoft enhanced Point and Print compatibility driver installed on Win7 LC master?

We recently migrated from a Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2012 print server. When recomposing a linked clone pool with the old 2003 server, drivers were taken care of for the printer when the user printed for the first time after desktop recompose. With 2012, any printer using the Point and Print driver doesn't seem to obtain the driver again from the 2012 server. All of our clients are running Windows 7 which means the Microsoft enhanced Point and Print compatibility driver is not installed in the OS natively.
I apparently need to figure out a way to get this installed on the host image so it trickles down to snapshots when recomposing the linked clone pool but I haven't been able to dig much information on doing this. Does anyone out there have any insight on how to accomplish this? If I recompose a pool now for a user who is using a new Point and Print driver, they get the following message that is resolved by removing the printer from their account and re-adding it:
"The 'Microsoft enhanced Point and Print compatibility driver' printer driver is not installed on this computer. Some printer properties will not be accessible unless you install the printer driver. Do you want to install the driver now?"
I figured the easy solution would be to just install a printer using the Point and Print driver and then remove it...leaving the driver behind (unless it cleaned up after itself). The problem with this is in my testing, even after removing and re-adding a printer that set off installation of this Point and Print driver on the client, any other printer that was using it still required the remove/re-add process in order to work, else I got the same message. That tells me that the driver may be custom for each printer installed?
Color me a little confused. I do NOT like the way that Server 2012 handles printers. I've come across a few other issues as well (such as duplex capabilities not being remember on the print server for a printer) that I never had with the 2003 server.
    Thanks!!

I was able to get it to work using your instructions off of here and your other thread
    Thank you!

selling macbook Pro 2011. It came with Lion, I upgraded to mountain Lion and Mavericks. Can license be transfer to new owner? how?

Good question now that Mavericks is free to all.
It used to be - and is probably still the case - that to comply with the license you should erase and re-install the OS that came pre-installed on the Mac when new. If there were restore disks they needed to be passed on with the Mac.
I'm happy to be corrected on this by someone who's more au fait with the legalese, but an upgraded OS is tied to an AppleID whereas the original OS is tied to the computer, not an AppleID.
My guess is, that if you launched the Recovery HD, erased the drive using Disk Utility and re-installed the OS, Lion would be installed.
Be interesting to see what others say.
