Aim on blackberry

when using AIM instant messanger via the blackberry two questons 1. do messages get included in the text count each month? 2. on the bill in the breakdown are the messages broken down by time date ect per user like they are for phone calls and texts? 3. if you are using AIM with a non verizon user does it add extra charges?
I"ve never used AIM on the blackberry and just wanted to know how it works and what shows up on the bill.  THanks

  • Problems with AIM on Blackberry 7100i...Please help

I got the 7100i off ebay with AIM preinstalled...it didn't work.  I then called nextel and they told me that there was a compatibility issue with the new AIM and this phone...so the guy gave me a web address to download the aim from.  It wasn't an address from AIM.com or Blackberry.com...and of course I didn't write it down...and now Nextel tells me that they have never had issues with AIM and this phone.  I can download and install AIM on the phone but when I put in my correct (and yes it is the correct one because I also tried putting the same password in my computer's AIM) it tells me that "service not enablesd for this handheld" but since it's third party software...Nextel can't help me.  Anyone know how to fix this?

The best advice I can offer is to dump the AOL AIM client altogether, and use a third-party instant messaging application that supports AIM.
For example, Adium X is a full featured IM client that supports AIM as well as many other IM protocols.
It's very stable on Tiger, and it's light years ahead of the official AIM client from AOL.
    Try it out!

  • AIM with BlackBerry 8120 is glitchy

My boyfriend has a Blackberry 8120. He downloaded the AIM client so that he could talk to me through my regular AOL Instant Messenger on my laptop. Not sure what's going on with his phone, but when he IMs my computer, I get all of his messages but he only gets some of mine. I'm not sure if its a signal problem. One night, I could not send him ANY messages. Other nights he will not get any messages from me for a while but then he will get a whole pile of them later, long after anything has been said. We think it might be the signal and that we need to find him an antenna booster, but we're not sure.
It was raining pretty heavily here last night but he got a few of my messages. The night that he didn't recieve any at all, it was a clear as a bell. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

From the horror stories I've heard with BB this will be my last one as soon as my contract ends. Mine hasn't turned itself off in the middle of a conversation yet- just if I press it gently in the middle or jar it and sometimes for no reason whatsoever but hearing some of the other problems this is minor! My only concern is if I should fall and its turned itself off and can't get it to turn back on without plugging it in to a mains or car and could be where I'm unable to. Very disappointed.

  • IChat on Blackberry

Hi all, I recently purchased a Blackberry (World Phone 8830) using Verizon service. The device allows one to use IM protocols from AIM, MSN & Yahoo. Is there a product, hopefully for free, that can be used on the BB that would support iChat?

    Hi,
    I found this http://mobile.aol.com/aolproducts/aim-for-blackberry
What it does not say is if there are any restrictions on the type of AIM name you can use.
It does have this link as well
    http://mobile.aol.com/aolproducts/aim-for-blackberry-directions
Again it says nothing about the type of AIM screen name (nor anything about Verizon)
Ok I don't have a Mobile that will do this I am not sure where to suggest you go next.
It might be AIM to see if it is a Name issue or it might be your Service provider to check the service is not down.

  • Having An issue with Messengers on BB

Hey guys, so my problem is that i've been trying to log into my MSN live messenger or AIM and it tells me to visit:
blackberry.com/AIM or blackberry.com/livemessenger So i do and then it tells me to connect my phone which i do and then i follow the directions to download what is needed and i get this message:
    " Unsupported Device
Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support AOL Instant Messenger for BlackBerry."
So im unclear why? I installed my desktop software...im uinsure if i need to DL anything else? My BB says i have ver.4.2.2 which is the most updated version on the Tmobile website....
Its a Blackberry Curve (Sunset/red) edition which was released just a few weeks ago...so im not sure how it can NOT be updated? Please let me know if theres anything i can do? thank you so much!

AIM is not supported and can not be installed if your carrier is AT&T.
If you go to http://mobile.blackberry.com using your BlackBerry's Browser and click the Instant Messaging... link, then click the Scan button at the bottom of the page, you will get a full list of all the RIM IM Clients available for your device and carrier. The only one missing from the list is FaceBook.
If you really need AIM, you can try Ramble, some of the other free IM clients that support multiple networks, or purchase either Jive Talk or IM+. Both of these are excelent multi-network clients.
    Find links for all here.

  • Blackberry AIM app?

    Hi,
I got my blackberry curve 9330 a few days ago and only have one question. I want to contact my friend in the UK, but I live here in the United States. Will it charge me extra for messaging them through aim? I do not have an international plan; and i'm using wifi. I know that if you BBM someone out of the country it will charge you extra, I don't know if this applies to every app. Thanks in advance!

  • BB AIM app not working

    http://crackberry.com/rim-built-aim-client-being-replaced-aim-blackberry-app-built-aol#comment-11363...
I have a BB Curve 3G with Sprint and app world says that the new AIM will not work on my device. Please advise.

I tried everything but the App Store would never load. Tried dock icon (shortcut), tried App from Applications folder just in case the shortcut was bad, tried the App Store direct from the Apple Menu in top menu bar. I tried copying over the App Store App from TM backup that was prior to Mavericks and copy from TM after Maverics.  I finally installed Mavericks again using my jump drive (holding Option while restarting the Mac with the jump drive that has Mavericks Install inserted). I DID NOT wipe my Mac Hard Drive this 2nd time so it just installed over everything on my hard drive (kinda like upgrading Mavericks itself?). That worked. Not too painful - the reinstall took about 30 mins?

  • MMS messages sent from iPhones on my Blackberry iMac

Here is a question I can not recieve MMS messages on my iMac because I have a Blackberry Q10 and not an iPhone.
In iMac Messages you can add an account but I can not figure out how to add BBM account to the iMac.
Under accounts types it only allow an AIM type account which puts me into AOL.  Has anyone been able to make a Blackberry work with BBM on a Mac.

If I understand your question correctly, you wish to receive BBM messages on your iMac. Is that correct? If that's what you're asking, currently BBM messages can be viewed only on a phone (BlackBerry, Android and iOS). Will BBM messages be accessible via a PC or Mac someday? Maybe yes, maybe no but at this point it's phones only.
I hope that answers your question.

  • Can't access AIM and other annoyances

I have clicked the agreement, and, I see this
    AOL Instant Messenger for BlackBerry
NoteMicrosoft® Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) users: if you encounter an error, look at the top of this page for a yellow bar that reads "This site might require the following ActiveX control: 'AxLoader.cab' from 'Research In Motion'. Click here to install..." Click the yellow bar and choose "Install ActiveX Control..." to allow installation to proceed.
nothing more. nothing to d/l or info to enter, and when I attempt to sign in, I get directed to the same stupid page. did I just pay a lot of money and get lied to? According to the manual for my 8320, and t-mobile I have IM access to AIM, Yahoo yet, I can't sign in. Yes, I am repeating myself. I am truly frustrated first being told that I had a crippled phone - no sync software for the mac by t-mobile "customer support -even the manual only speaks of WINDOWS.
    And, shouldn't this
Before downloading AOL® Instant Messenger (AIM) for your BlackBerry® smartphone, check to see that you meet the below requirements:
    Supported smartphones: BlackBerry® 8800 from T-Mobile USA, BlackBerry® 7100i, BlackBerry® 7130e, BlackBerry® 7250, BlackBerry® 7520 and BlackBerry® 8703e from Sprint
    Be updated?
    one currently peeved new customer.

Not all carriers buy into RIM's Instant Messaging solutions. Until recently you couldn't use either Yahoo Messenger or Windows (Live) Messenger on AT&T. However, after a recent major update of these two clients, they are now available on AT&T.
So how do you find out which of the (major) IM Clients is available for your device? Simply point your BlackBerry's Browser to:
    http://mobile.blackberry.com
Click the Instant Messaging for BlackBerry Smartphones link. Scroll to the bottom of the resulting page and click the [Search] button, and your device will be scanned, and OTA Installations will be presented for all the major IM Clients (AIM, Yahoo, Windows Live, Gtalk, ICQ) your device supports.
There is also a Facebook client available for OTA or IE ActiveX Installation available here:
    http://www.blackberry.com/devicesoftware/entry.do?code=facebook
which doesn't show up in the list, but does work on AT&T!
Personally, I try to get ALL my BlackBerry software OTA (Over The Air), and maintain this list just so I always have someplace to find the links for them! Just point your BlackBerry Browser to:
    http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com/blog.php?b=322
If you use multiple IM Networks, you may want to consider purchasing either Jive Talk or IM+. These are both excelent IM clients, and work on all BlackBerries and all Carriers. There are also a couple of new, free multinetwork IM clients available (EQO, InstaGo, mundu IM, Palringo, WebMessenger), but I have found these to be overburdened with eye candy (the Vista syndrome) or otherwise worth what you pay for them ($0).
Personally I use IM+, and although it's an excelent product would use Jive Talk except that I purchased it a few months before Jive Talk came out.

  • Server error when going to AIM

I have a Blackberry Curve 8520 running on v4.6  I have been trying to get to my AIM instant messenger and it says there is a server error.  I CAN get on AIM on my computer, so there is no server error.
I read that AIM is no longer supported by Blackberry but that there is an AIM app to download.  I followed the direction and uninstalled my current AIM and sent to download the current AIM and still getting the server error.
Any suggestions on what to do now?

Hi and Welcome to the Community...apologies for the delayed reply...hopefully you already got this sorted out, but just in case!
    Please review this KB:
KB32227Discontinuation of AOL Instant Messenger for BlackBerry smartphones
As you see, the RIM-developed AIM app will no longer function (even if it can be downloaded, it will not function). Rather, one must shift to the AOL developed app in order to use AIM.
    Good luck!

  • Login Trouble with Mobile AIM

I am using a Blackberry Curve 8330. Today when I tried to login mobile AOL Instant Messenger I received the following message: "The maximum number of logins has been exceeded." It then tried to reconnect after a delay without success. I tried rebooting the BB. I also uninstalled mobile AIM, rebooted, and reinstalled. No luck with either solution. Does anyone have advice?

I would like to inform all people having the same problem logging on to aim on their blackberry....i spoke to technical support at t-mobile and they informed me that aim no longer allows u to be signed on in several different locations....or could just be a mobile phone.  If you sign off all locations...sign on your phone....and want to sign in on another computer it will allow you....just not if you are signed on anywhere else.
Hope this helps everyone....it solved my problem
