AIM Push Notifications

I can't seem to get the push notifications in AIM to work. Everything is turned on but I don't get the pop-up messages. How often does it update to push the notification? Is it immediate or is there a timed delay?
Thanks!

Would like to bump this. I am actually having the exact opposite problem... i have turned off ALL push notifications for AIM for iPad and for some reason, it ALWAYS shows a badge on the AIM icon. i even removed the application from my iPad and reinstalled it and the badge is still there.
i noticed someone else is having a similar problem, but the app with the badge is just placing other apps' notification badges on the one app.
any one have any clues?

  • So what's the deal with AIM and Push notifications?

So we all get 3.0. AIM is supposed to get push. So going into the AIM prefs, "push" is the same old send an SMS to the iPhone number. The SMS comes in, you hit reply and the iPhone opens SMS app!!! It doesn't open AIM.
This is nuts. Talk about things never changing.

The app isn't yet updated to take advantage of the PNS. Just wait, a few are coming out now. AP news just got updated and has PNS settings.
AIM was one of the apps used for testing Push for the last 10 days. And I'm using the paid version. One would think then it would be working.
I've been using BeeJiveIM for so long, I bought AIM today to see how the Push works.
So what you are saying is Push notifications are still not implemented?

  • AIM, where/when is the update for push notification?

Subject says it all. When are we going to get an update to AIM to enable push notifications?

Once Apple is done selling new iPhones to the new money, since that seems to be where their priority currently lies.

  • AIM and no push notification

I installed the new AIM Free chat client on my iPod touch 2G (16GB). It asked me whether I want push notifications on. I accepted. In addition, I switched the function on in AIM itself. When I send messages from another account from my Mac to my iPod there are no notifications at all. When I open the application, I only receive the normal chat messages, no notifactions via push.
I received only one push message from AP mobile and two from Tap Tap Revenge 2 so far. This was 2 days and longer ago. Is it a general problem or maybe a problem of my WIFI router?
    Steffen

It is the DNS-server. I changed the default DNS from my ISP to one of those free DNS-servers (194.150.168.168). It works fine now.

  • AIM app not sending push notifications

My AIM app is not sending push notifications.  It was working just fine yesterday morning and when I signed onto the wifi at work I noticed it wasn't sending me notification while talking to a friend.
I have IOS 6 (because I don't like IOS 7 and don't feel like updating to a system that I dislike).
I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled (so yes, the app is up to date).
I've checked push notifications in both the app itself and my system settings.
I've restarted my ipod touch several times.
I've signed off of my wifi connection and back on.
I've basically done everytrhing I can think of to get it to work again and yet it is not.
This is so frustrating because I miss messages while on other apps or just sitting around.

I have had this problem on my personal wifi connection, work wifi and my friend's wifi connection and also my college's wifi.
I have no other connections to try it on.  Plus, I want it to work on *my* connection.  Not someone else's.

  • Ipod Touch 2G and Push Notifications not working

    Hello,
I did a full restore to firmware 3.0 on my touch 2g, wiped everything, then proceded to install some apps that support push, and they don't appear to be working. Yes, I'm testing with push enabled apps (AIM), and Push on Settings is turned on. I tried rebooting, iTunes doesn't detect any problem, everything appears OK, but no Push Notifications whatsoever.
    Any help ?
    Thank you !
ps: I can provide the Serial Number and UDID that iTunes shows for this device if necessary.

It is either a problem of the earphone jack of the iTouch or the plug of the earphones, have you tried another earphones, if the problem still there, send your iTouch for service

  • The September "push notification" release ?

    What happened to this ?
I'm only commenting on this as many blogs/sites I;ve read have harped on about this software SDK release for September that would have push notification in it.
Then it was pulled from the latest beta ?
So I take it that push notification is NOT in the 2.1 release ?
Does anyone have any idea when this is slated to happen now ?
I must admit that this is one feature I was really looking forward to, especially for AIM.

I was really upset that their was no push notification for 3rd party apps. I think I can deal with some of the bugs but would look forward to an iChat type app. I think this is long overdue. I know apple some time ago patent one so hopefully its in the works

  • Push notifications for Exchange

Hello, will there ever be push notifications for email on exchange? ie: appear on screen like a badge from AIM etc.

Not sure what you mean. Exchange email can be pushed, and does result in a badge. Perhaps it's terminology - a badge is the red dot with number on the app icon (new Exchange emails badge the Mail app icon).
If you mean an alert (i.e. a text preview of the message that pops up on screen, like an Exchange calendar invite), Apple would need to implement that.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Push notifications are not making any sounds. (iPhone 4)

Hello, I am having an issue with sounds from my push-notifications. I have all phone sounds enabled, the volume turned up, and all the sound options for the desired applications set to allow push-notifications, AND to make noise.
All of my other phone sounds work, calls, SMS, vibrate, alarms, everything else EXCEPT push-notification sounds. I can go in to my AIM settings and even hear the desired sound play in the settings menu, however when I get an AIM message, no sound.
What gives? All my firmware is up to date.

You can only get an authorized unlock for your AT&T device through AT&T, so your iPhone was probably jailbroken. See this for more info -> iPhone: About unlocking
Also, take a look at this Whatsapp FAQ.

  • Push notifications forgotten?

Apple told everyone in June that push notifications for programs will be available in September. I bought the phone agreeing to wait till then. 3 months have past where is it? Make your voice heard I'm sure more people out there are feeling the same way I do.

Agreed I have yet to see these push notification which would improve AIM's primary use dramatically (Funny that AIM on the Sidekick nearly works flawless in this sense), this would also improve multiple social networking applications along with other apps, APPLE STEP YOUR GAME UP I am really disappointed to have and empty promise with no apology or date that this so called service will actually be showing up to your customers phones or SDK packs (so developers can integrate it). Make your voice heard!

  • Push Notifications to APNS Fail 50% of the Time

Sending a notification to an iOS device fails half the time with this error:
The Push Notification System returned an Internal Server Error
    Here is my setup:
    Free Trial version of Azure
Sandbox certificates uploaded to a Mobile Service/Notification Hub
App developed with PhoneGap and built using Adobe's PhoneGap Build service
    Using the com.microsoft.azure-mobile-services Cordova plugin
I am able to use either the DEBUG page on the Azure site, Visual Studio 2013 (Server Explorer -> Azure), or the ServiceBusExplorer open source program to send test JSON messages to Apple. It works, half the time, and the other half of the time I
    receive the error above.
    Steps to reproduce:
Open Visual Studio --> Server Explorer --> Azure. It points to my trial account.
Context-click on my Notification Hub a pick "Diagnose"
Under Device Registrations, I delete any registrations I've previously accumulated. There are now no device registrations.
Delete and re-install the test app on the iPhone (iOS 8)
Launch the test app. A new registration appears in the notification hub. The type is "Native." (I've also had problems with "Template.")
Go to the Test Send tab; Recipient: Broadcast; Message Type: Apple (Default)
I am using the default, sample notification (but I get similar outcomes with other JSON messages):
    {"aps":{"alert":"Notification Hub test notification"}}
Hit "Send"; It fails. Under "Message Result:," for my single registration I have this error message: "The Push Notification System returned an Internal Server Error"
Wait 90 seconds, hit Send again. The notification works, it appears on the phone, the message result is "The Notification was successfully sent to the Push Notification System"
Wait another 90 seconds, hit Send again. The notification fails
with the same Internal Server Error that it did the first time.
Wait another 90 seconds, hit Send again. It works perfectly just like it did on the second attempt.
Overall it is working about half the time. In the example above, it worked every-other time, but this is not always the case--it can succeed multiple times in a row or fail multiple times in a row. I'm not changing the JSON at all between
the above test messages. Even if I vary the JSON, I get the same outcome. I get similar outcomes regardless of whether I do the testing through Visual Studio (above), the Azure portal (the DEBUG tab), or through the ServiceBusExplorer program.
What is causing this? How do I troubleshoot this?

    Hi David,
I don't have an answer for you, but I wanted to chime in because I am having problems as well. I get the same "The Push Notification System returned an Internal Server Error" message trying to send a test push via either the Debug tab in the manage.windowsazure.com
    console or in Visual Studio.
I have been focused on troubleshooting this problem since yesterday (Saturday February 21) but I believe it has been happening quite a bit longer.
At one point I was able to get some notifications through after clearing all the registrations, but now it is failing again. I have had the same certificate since last April (2014) and it has worked fine, so I know the certificate setup is good.
    More data points:
using the SimplePush PHP script from
raywenderlich.com with the same certificate, the notifications go through immediately.
Normally we send notifications from our Mobile Service using the Javascript backend, and it gets a "success" response from the Notification Hub even when it fails, e.g.
    {"isSuccessful":true,"statusCode":201,"body":"","headers":{"transfer-encoding":"chunked","content-type":"application/xml; charset=utf-8","server":"Microsoft-HTTPAPI/2.0","date":"Sun,
    22 Feb 2015 05:05:20 GMT"}}
We have another notification hub with our production certificate, and it seems to be working better.

  • Sending Push Notifications with Adobe DPS

    Question.
I'm testing out all the Adobe DPS and Apple options. And one of the things I would like to test is Push Notifications.
I followed the iPad publishing guide to be able to get all the certificates so that's ok. Then I was looking for a way to send
push notifications. Because Adobe DPS doesn't really have a UI environment (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong ;-) to send push
notifications I have to do it 'by hand'. When I tested my app on my iPad I got the "app name wants to send you push notifications",
so i'm sure my certificates are working. Now I just need to send a push message.
So I followed this great tutorial:
    http://www.raywenderlich.com/3443/apple-push-notification-services-tutorial-part-12
I was able to do everything and was able to send a push notification ... but I never received it. And the reason for this is because
I don't have the app device token, which is a 64 character serial number which acts as your app address. So I don't have any way of sending the notification
to my particular app. (which is a test sideload multifolio app).
Because the Adobe DPS is cloud based you don't get any code (which I love). But I think that is currently stopping me
from finding out my device token.
    What I'm asking:
    - Does this mean I can't send any push notifications to Adobe DPS created apps?
    - If this is supported somehow, I suppose (again, correct me) I need the app device token for the created app. Where do I get this?
    Thanks !

At this time, it's not possible to manually push notifications. When you enable push, only publishing a new folio displays the red badge. At some point, when third-party push is supported, manual pushes will be possible.
