AIR 2.0 announced

http://blogs.adobe.com/air/

Thnx for your answer!
This is the link to Voddler telling not to upgrade to AIR 2.0.3: http://www.voddler.com/help/topic/2749256203818016619
After some searching I found descriptions on how to get rid of the whole installation (both Voddler client and AIR), and start a fresh installation wich includes the AIR 2.0.2-version. But still I get the "Content security error. Too many failed attempts. ...  error 3305 - 127" when I try starting a movie. I see on the Voddler forum that more people are having a problem with this, so I guess I will have to wait for an update of the Voddler client?
BTW, I run Win 7.
And one more thing: When I remove the AIR 2.0.2/2.0.3 and install the AIR 1.5.3 from your link I get this AIR error: "This installation of this application is damaged. Try re-installing or contacting the publisher for assistance."

  • RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR - Beta 2 Announced

RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR is now updated. You can
download the new version for FREE from Adobe labs -
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/robohelp/.
It has added a long list of novel features - first time for a HATT.
Now, besides multiple tabs, favorites, commenting and multiple
skins like Multi-Tab Accordion and Uni-pane Help, you have another
    set of new features.
Designed for End Customers - Adobe AIR based Help templates
have been designed keeping in view the end customer. They have some
high-end navigation features like Mini TOC, Breadcrumbs, etc. Apart
from these capabilities, the new Adobe AIR based Help also empowers
the end customers to customize the Help. An end customer can set
their own preferences and customize Help as desired.
Compelling Rich Branded Experience- RoboHelp Packager for
Adobe AIR provides a compelling rich user experience. It includes
templates that help authors package the same content into three
    completely different styles – Multi-Tab Accordion, Uni-Pane
or the Classic Tri-Pane Help. Apart from this it also helps the
Authors brand the Help as per Corporate Branding Guidelines. It
provides support for the addition of a Company Logo and a Punch
line in the main Help window. Apart from this it also provides an
About Box in the Help that details the version, description,
    copyrights, logos etc.
Auto Update -Adobe AIR based Help applications provide an
Auto Update feature using which updates can be pushed to all
installed connected versions of Help. Usually, the Help content
bundled with the application is never updated, while the web
content is updated with current feature enhancements and additional
resources. Adobe AIR based Help provides you with the option to
publish updates for your end users at a common server location. The
Adobe AIR based Help is intelligent enough to check for updates and
prompts users to apply updates when it detects a new version is
    available.
Review Workflows / Personalization of Help
Adobe AIR based help files can be configured in such a way
that you can add comments to topics and publish those comments at a
common location. This feature enables a complete review workflow,
whether or not the reviewer is a part of your group/organization.
    * Reviewers within your network: Reviewers can publish their
comments to an XML file on a shared folder. They can also
synchronize the comments from other reviewers on the same network.
This enable multiple reviewers to simultaneously view the comments
being made by other reviewers as they review.
    * Reviewers outside your network: You can send the .air file
to these reviewers who can then export their comments to an XML
file and send it to you. You can import these comments into your
    Adobe AIR application.
Apart from the rewire workflow, the feature is designed to
help an end customer personalize Help by adding comments on the
same. These comments will not be uploaded to the server, however
can be exported to a file and shred with friends over email.
New Classic help Template - A new template called Classic
Help has been added. It is named Classic because it is a Tri-Pane
Help. Apart from that it has got all the power of any other Adobe
AIR based Help template. This template has a new feature called
“How do I” that lists all the browse sequences defined
in the WebHelp. We recommend that authors design their browse
sequences in such a way that they provide complete workflow
    information to end customers.
Supports Packaging of Merged WebHelp- RoboHelp Packager for
Adobe AIR now supports merged WebHelp. If an author specifies the
WebHelp folder of a Master project, the Packager is intelligent
enough to detect and convert all referenced projects in the Master
Project. However, one needs to be careful while using this feature.
It doesn’t provide as much flexibility as Merged WebHelp. A
new Package needs to be created every time even when you update any
    of the sub projects.
In Beta 2, zoom works flawlessly and search results has been
    further improved.
If you have not tried the RoboHelp Packager for Adobe AIR,
you can download it now for FREE (Adobe RoboHelp 7 required).

When you are comparing this to Flash, does this comparison
extend to the requirement for each end user to install the Air
runtime on their PCs before they can access our RoboHelp system?
And that they will also get reminders to update to the latest
    version of Air runtime?

  • Should I go for the new Retina Macbook Pro 13" (announced Oct 2013) or the Macbook Air 13"?

So, I was set on the Macbook Air until Apple announced the new notebook. The reason I was set on Air previously is because I really need a portable laptop, and the Air was lighter. But the new Pro seems light enough if not as light, so I'm confused all over again.
I won't use my laptop for much. I don't use my computer for gaming or high-end photo editing. I might use it for basic photo editing, nothing too special. I'm going to start college soon, which is why I need a portable laptop with good battery life. And I will be typing a lot. I listen to a lot of music, and so, I download quite a lot of music as well. Space is not that big of an issue, since I already own an external hard drive. Other than that, I browse the Internet... basic websites... Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Tumblr etc etc.
So, input would be highly appreciated. Which laptop would meet my needs, and will be good in the long run as well? Thanks in advance.

In my opinion, a college student should get the old-fashioned MacBook, NOT the Air.
You are going to be putting this in a backpack and heading off to your next class or lunch four or five times a day. The regular MacBook Pro can stand that abuse -- the Air is much more light and delicate.
If you were an executive, slipping this (in a neoprene sleeve) in and out of your Briefcase once a day, I would say the Air is fine.

  • When will ipad air 2 be hitting indian stores??????

i have been waiting for ipad air 2. if anybody can tell when it will be available in india

Last Year iPad Air was Launched in US on 1st November, 2013. But it launched in India on 7th December,2013. The Pricing of iPad Air wasn't announced officially till mid-end November.
This Year, the Pricing of iPad Air 2 was announced on the first day itself, and even the iPhone 6,6 Plus launched Earlier in India compared to Previous iPhones.
Considering these things, I Believe It won't be too Long.
I Guess 7th November or 14th November 2014, could be the Official Launch Date in India.
Though there are some other factors to consider:- Due to Anti-Reflective Coating, the Manufacturing of iPad Air 2 is Slower and hence stocks could be limited.
Hope it Launches Soon. BTW it'll be in news everywhere when it does.

  • Can I get a refund for my 3rd Gen. iPad in the UK?

    Hi All,
I must admit to being disappointed re the 4g situation in the UK. When I bought the iPad i actually already thought 4g was available (i know!) - but in fact now i'm hearing it wont be available for at least another year or two. And when it arrives it won't likely support 3rd Gen iPad.
I feel i was misled on the functionality of the 3rd Gen iPad and i'd like to arrange for a refund.
I'm based in the UK - does anyone know if this is possible here or not?
I read about the case being examined by the ASA but not sure if this has been completed yet.
    Thanks,
    karl

Yep - I got a full refund - apple collecting it from my office - I think there is a lesson in how this was managed in Oz - if Apple quietly deal with isolated incidents like mine - they mitigate against the risk that the ASA will receive a complaint and in turn force apple to offer refunds - which in turn would cost apple more than refunding some isolated incidents.
To be fair, it was very simple and easy to do - credit to apple for that - besides I'm just going to buy the new mac book air when they announce it in a few months!!

  • Versioning of multiple APKs for Android

Recently, with AIR 14, we announced x86 support for AIR applications. In this post, we explain how should developers manage the binary upload on Google Play Store for ARM and x86 binaries. Android devices are available with three kind of architectures - ARM, x86 and devices which support both x86 and ARM architectures (Eg: Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1). AIR SDK (14.0.0.125 beta onwards) allows developers to create separate APK files for ARM and x86 architectures. And Google Play Developer console provides CPU architecture (ABI) as a filter criteria to support multiple APKs for the same application. The way Adobe AIR developers should make use of this filter criteria would depend on the packaging mode - captive or shared.
For Apps packaged with Captive mode
Please take a look at the following documentation. AIR developers should follow the same guidelines, as are mentioned for native applications.
    http://developer.android.com/google/play/publishing/multiple-apks.html
Assigning a higher versionNumber  (in application descriptor) for the x86 version of apk would ensure that the Google Play serves x86 binary to devices with both x86 and ARM support,  thereby resulting in better performance.
For Apps packaged with Shared mode
After the recent release of x86 support in AIR, Play Store will have two different binaries for AIR Runtime app– one for ARM devices, and another for x86 devices. For devices which can run both, ARM binary version would be preferred because that used to get downloaded even before we introduced x86 support. And we plan to continue with the same preference to ensure that shared apps dependent on AIR runtime aren’t affected. To align with AIR Runtime app, applications packaged in shared mode should also keep their x86 based binary with lower versionNumber. With this approach, if you face any performance related issues on devices which support both the processors, then you can opt for captive mode of packaging.
The table below summarizes what version gets downloaded on device with different processors type.
    ARM Device
    x86 Device
Device supporting both x86 and ARM
    Runtime.apk
    ARM version

    -Thanks
    Adobe AIR Team

    It won't replace it if
    1) You are in Advanced Mode.....
    2) Your Version Numbers are different....
I think replied to your other thread. If you are using captive runtime included in your app, the app version of the 86x needs to be higher.... if not the ARM version needs to be higher....

  • MacBook Airs announced yesterday, a few questions (model numbers especially)

Hello - does anyone know the model number fot the core i7 MacBook Airs that were just announced yesterday?  I can find the model numbers for the core i5 models, but not sure if the core i7's are considered different models or are just only available as a customization options to the base models, direct from Apple?  I want to buy from Amazon since with credit card rewards points I can get about $1000 worth of Amazon gift cards - no option to convert credit card reward points to Apple Store gift cards, unfortunately.
Also, I do want to use this computer with an HDMI-enabled TV - would it be better to buy Mini-Display Port to DVI or Mini-Display Port to HDMI cable?  I currently have a DVI-to-HDMI adapter that I use in conjunction with an HDMI cable to plus my old DVI - enabled Cure 2 Duo MB Pro into my TV.
Also, most importantly, I am concerned about built in batter of all the MacBooks these days.  How much does it cost to replace, and will leaving the battery plugged in and charged all the time ruin it, or have MacBook batteries advanced beyond that limitation?

    1. i personally don't know how to properly network. i managed to do it somehow, but i don't know the exact process. i'm sure someone else can help you with this.
    2. the only way to make it less aggressive is to turn it off entirely. i never use that feature and i always adjust the brightness manually.
    3. how to make sure you have all the updates is by simply running software update. anything your computer needs to run smoothly will show up there. if no updates appear, then you're fine.
    4. the fans are located in the bottom portion of the MBP. the heat issue is normal. saying it gets really really hot doesn't give anyone any indication of what the actual temperatures are. my idea of hot is likely different from your idea of hot. your MBP is likely not running hotter than any other MBP.
    5. i think you just close the lid while it's on to do this. or just set the energy settings so that the screen shuts off after x minutes of inactivity.

  • 6/8/2012 - AIR 3.3 Release Announcement

Today we're pleased to announce that the next version of AIR, 3.3.0.3650, is available for immediate download.  This update includes the following new features:
USB debugging for AIR iOS — This new feature allows the iOS developer to connect to the desktop via USB while debugging their mobile applications instead of relying on network connectivity.
Enhanced Background behavior for AIR iOS — Background support now more closely resembles native applications in iOS. In addition to some basic multitasking and background audio support that is already enabled with AIR for iOS, applications may now support location updates and networking in the background, as well as being notified when a background app is about to be suspended by the operating system.
Stylus support for Android 4.0 — Stylus support in Flash takes advantage of the new-in-4.0 Android Stylus API, so that stylus-aware apps work automatically with any devices supporting the Android API set.
Simulator Support (Mac) — With the enhanced simulator support a developer can now package and run an application on iOS simulator using ADT commands. This feature allows an iOS developer to develop and run an application without needing an actual set of devices by using the iOS simulator using Xcode.
Aspect Ratio Enhancements — With AIR 3.3 the issue with the runtime ignoring the specified aspect ratio has been resolved. In this release we address this use-case by allowing only screen orientation corresponding to app specified aspectRatio and orientation corresponding to 180 degree device rotation from the specified aspectRatio.
Improved Mac App Store Support — Added support to ensure Mac AIR apps adhere to Apple guidelines and can be submitted to the Mac App store successfully.

Why is it impossible to find the IOS sdk 6.0 on adobe site or any related forum ? i searched everywhere the only place i found it was on developer apple in a DMG i needed to uncompress to see that it was in a format not reable by windows. as i understand the only way to get it is by installing xcode on a mac and copying it from here. Why adobe not giving it ? or updating the 3.4 sdk with 6.0 in it ?
I mean... with air 3.4 you can use platformsdk.. and you can use it on windows!! BUT NOBODY GIVE THE SDK!! Go on google and i dare you to find sdk 6.0 in a format readable for windows!
anyway i used the beta 3.5 for now i just found that sad that the support for such a obvious request isn't met.

Today we're pleased to announce that the next version of AIR, 3.2.0.2070, is available for immediate download.  This update includes the following new features:
Stage3D hardware accelerated GPU rendering (mobile) —  AIR 3.2 introduces the Stage3D API to iOS and Android. These low-level APIs enable cinematic, high-performance 2D and 3D graphics with full GPU acceleration across devices.
Drivers gating for hardware acceleration relaxed (desktop) — In earlier Mac and Windows releases, hardware acceleration for Stage3D was limited to drivers released after 1/1/2009. This release expands support, relaxing driver gating to 1/1/2008.
Mouse lock, relative mouse coordinates, right and middle click events (desktop) — Create immersive, panoramic games with infinite scrolling to enable new classes of content, including first-person games.
Throttling event — This release introduces a new ThrottleEvent. A ThrottleEvent is now dispatched by the stage when the Flash Player throttles, pauses or resumes content.
Multithreaded video decoding (desktop) — The video decoding pipeline is now fully multithreaded. This feature should improve the overall performance on all platforms. Note that this feature is a significant architecture change required for other future improvements.

Difficult to answer until the benchmarks are performed.  The Macbook Pro will get a higher Geekbench score of course because that concentrates on processor and memory sppeds.  But Barefeats and MacWorld benchmarks will be more real-world tests that will give a more meaningful comparison.
The Air is going to boot the fastest due to the SSD.  It may really give the Pro a run for the money whenever there's heavy disk access. But in game-playing, you'll have most of what you need loeaded into memory, so then the Pro will outperform.  People who use SSD flash memory are usually very happy with the overall responsiveness of the system. but gamers may want the fastest processor they can get.  So your requirements in a way conflict with each other.  Wait for the benchmarks and then you decide what's best for you.

  • Newly Announced Macbook Air vs. Macbook Pro 13"

What are the differences in Performance? It appears to have an i5 vs. i7 but same graphics card.

Thats exactly what I was wondering too! Keep in mind that the pro has anywhere from 2.3-2.7 GHz of processing power (13 inch) compared to the 1.7-1.8GHz on the Air. The graphics are the same (you don't actually get a devoted graphics card until the 15 inch) so you will get the same quality of video but at a faster rate, also on the air you get a max of 4gb of RAM compared to the 8gb (if selected) of RAM on the pro, so I'm stuck as well in between the Air and the Pro, although the pro you will get guaranteed performance they are both great computers.

  • How do i use numbers on my macbook air with iCloud

i'm trying to get the  NUMBERS spreadsheet on my macbook air to access and update through icloud. I already have icloud working and syncing numbers data between ipad 1, ipad 2.

    Apple never advertised this feature.
When they announced that iCloud will be available on 2011/10/12, they didn't stated that every features would be running at this date.
