AIR 2.0 Updater.update for EXE files

Hi All,
With the help of AIR 2.0 we can package applications in native installers.
I have tried upto this much successfully but I am stuck at updating it.
Please guide me how we can update the EXE files the way we update AIR files.
It is a bit urgent for me.

That error is from Google's market and it is telling you that it can't replace an app that you didn't get from them. If you uninstall, you can then reinstall. Or you could try downloading the same app from Amazon's market.
I had the exact same issue with Pandora. Google kept telling me there was an update. I didn't get the app from Google, I got it from Amazon. The version on Google was higher than mine, so I uninstalled Pandora and installed the one from Google. Of course now Amazon is telling me there is an update...

when will there be an update for Lightroom 4 which provides the option to import RAW-files from the Olympus OM-D E-M10 directly into LR4?

Lightroom 5.0 came out in June 2013 with a public beta for LR5 available at Adobe Labs back in April 2013. It seems you may have been unlucky purchasing the old version just before the new version came out, or perhaps LR5 required a minimum OS level your computer didn’t have.
Purchasing a new version every year isn’t necessary, but you do have to buy a new version whenever you buy an unsupported camera.
Adobe employees need to get paid just like the rest of us, and their releasing a new payfor version every so often is how they get paid.
Never mind that the new version has improvements beyond new camera support, so there was a full development-release-training-marketing effort behind it.
The upgrade price is cheaper than the full purchase price and if you want Photoshop capabilities, there is a LR+PS Photographer’s Bundle that is half the price of purchasing Photoshop, itself:

Default application for .exe file

Can someone please tell me what the default (parent) application is to open .exe files? I changed all in "get info" to migration asst. and now I'm lost.

An .exe file is a Windows program. It will not run directly on a Mac. Depending on if your iMac is an Intel based model or not, you would either need to install Windows via a Boot Camp partition (which would require Leopard and an Intel Mac), or for a PowerPC Mac, your only choice is the very slow Virtual PC, which Microsoft stopped development on basically as soon as Intel based Macs were introduced by Apple.
The only exception is if the .exe file is a self extracting .zip archive. In which case Stuffit Expander can open the contents.

I believe its not suggestable to remove that message also as it will be very very serious security threat for your machine,
try -> tools->Internet options>Security->Local internet ->Custom level->Downloads->
Automatice
Automatic prompting for downloads.->enable and try enabling Active X check boxes also give it a try not sure it will work.

Title of slides for .exe file

Hi, I created several .exe files to run standalone courses. Only the first 7 characters of the title is dispalying along the top of the simulation. For example, the title of this topic is Topic 6.1 Creating Projects, the next is Topic 6.2 The Project Menu. I need to display the full topic at the top of the page. I can't find a setting for this or what this title is referred to in Captivate.
Any help will be appreciated. thanks.

Do not use dots in your file name; i.e. 6.1 or 6.2.

Updates for raw files from Nikon D5000 on a photoshop elements 7 /windows 7 system

I have photoshop elements 7 but it won't open raw files from a nikon D5000 although I've followed the links and updated. It still says it won't open because it's the wrong type of file..I've downloaded a DNG converter but still nothing is happening.

You download and installed the camera raw 5.6 plugin, by following install directions on the following page?

If you have a windows 7 64 bit system, then the Camera Raw.8bi plugin goes in
Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats
(the path adobe gives is for a 32 bit windows system)
Also, use the Camera Raw.8bi outside the folder named Win64

Photoshop disk error on latest update for NEF files

Since the last update of Photoshop CC, photoshop refuses to open my NEF files Nikon format) quoting disk error.
The same file is opened in another mac with the photoshop version not updated to the latest CC update.
The same file is opened on the computer with photoshop troubles with other photo programs
What is the issue?

If you are still having/have had issues, you can open an active case file with Apple. Log the issue with a tech on the phone, so that you know you've reported it, so if anything gets worse in the future, you have a point of reference to come back to.
This is essential in the even that your warranty expires. So if you know you've had a problem from an outset, and if it turns out to be hardware related, you have case for a replacement because you've reported it.

InDesign CC crashing on link update for icml files edited in InCopy CC Windows

Running InDesign CC (9.1) on OSX 10.9.
Colleague running InCopy CC (9.1) on Windows 7 SP1.
Files stored on a Windows server.
OSX accessing files via AFP and Windows accessing files via CIFS.
If I unlink the icml files and re-import them everything is fine. As soon as the windows user edits them though, InDesign crashes on link update.

We're having this problem too. I read somewhere that an 8.x update of InDesign was supposed to fix it, but we're using 9.2 - so not fixed.

SCCM 2012 error downloading EXE files updates

Created an Update Group with security updates for Windows 7, from 2014/Jan-Jun
On downloading, every update with NO-EXE files, were successful.
Every update containing EXE files got errors with this message (example with KB2871997):
Error: There was an error adding Software Update Content to the specified package for Security Update for Windows 7 (KB2871997). Check Deployment Package permissions, or the network path to the Package folder.
NOTES:
1. the target folder (to host the update EXE file) is created normally, but results empty
2. it was possible to download the EXE file updates using Internet Explorer to another folder, BUT trying to alternatively download update from this folder (as opposed to download from internet, the standard way), the same errors above result.

BUT target folders result empty and SCCM Console ends operation with the error on my first post.

Adobe AIR 1.5 Update success unclear

After installing the Adobe AIR 1.5 Update for Fireworks CS4
on my Mac OS X 10.5.6 machine, the installed version of Fireworks
is still set at 10.0.0.495. This version string appears in the both
the About box and in the Finder Get Info window, despite the fact
that the installer window displayed that it was installing Adobe
Fireworks CS4 10.0.1.
How can I determine that the install worked?
As a sidenote, I find the entire installer to be very
non-intuitive to use for a Mac user: the installer does not use the
standard Mac install process, the installer is named "Setup.app"
with no indication what it is, the installer script is hard coded
to look for an application folder named "Adobe Fireworks CS4"
(which breaks if you've renamed the folder), the user is prompted
for a password before being told what it is doing, multiple
applications launch as part of the install process resulting in two
applications named Setup appearing in the Dock, the Quit option in
the application menu bar is greyed out and the quit button is
labelled "Exit". Things like this impact perceived quality of
product.

The update will not affect the splash screen or About Page
version number.
For a quick check you can try creating an AIR package or an
AIR preview. If everything works smooth then the installation would
have been a success.
The other details related to installation on a Mac should be
seen on all other Adobe app and not restricted to Fireworks alone.

W530 - explorer.exe crashes vs rightclicking .exe files.

So when i rightclick a .exe file exoplorer will chrash and restart.. started happening since i switched back to nvidia optimus. earlier i had it set for discrete graphix in bios.
i have the original lenovo driver installed, then updated to latest from nvidia.
cant seem to manually update the intel driver though.
any suggestions? im thinking explorer is crashing due to switchable graphix issue when rightclicking a .exe file. what can i do ? reinstalling the nvidia driver doesnt help. I refuse to go back to older driver since i need this to play BF4.

ok this is too funny.. ive been searching for days to find solution, and once I write here i resolve it myself..
the problem was contextmenuhandlers.
Regedit > "HKCR \*\shellex\contextmenuhandlers" here i found a folder for a program called NetID for secure cards identification i recently installed.. deleted the folder and now rightclicking works again for .exe files..
horray for google.. lock thread pls.

Best thing to do is create your packages and test your programs prior to deployment to production computers.

Adobe reader opening all Exe Files.

I believe I accidently set preferences so that all exe files are opened by adobe reader. Once I uninstalled Adobe reader all .exe files went back to normal. However on re installing Adobe reader all exe files have gone back to opening using adobe reader. When Reader was uninstalled I checked the registry for exe files and was told HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe
should have a default value of exefile, which it does and then checked HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command which must have a default value of "%1" %* which it does. I can not change the registry while adobe reader is installed as the program regedit is an exe. Is there an Adobe register which I must change or another method I can use?
