Air 2, Flex 4.1, embedding xstandard wysiwyg editor

Hi,
Has anyone had any experience with embedding the xstandard wysiwyg editor into a flex application using the Air HTML component?
For those who don't know; it is an activeX control providing xhtml compliant code generation, drag, drop and upload functionality (in one move) etc and is far superior and easier to use than the freebee wysiwyg editors out there.
The editor requirement:
Easy table generation
drag and drop of images onto the interface with upload and insert into content
Paste of MS Word content into the editor. (automatic image upload and insert)
Editor solution:
xstandard ( http://www.xstandard.com )
are there any others that provide this functionality?
The problem at hand:
I have developed an inhouse application which embeds a wysiwyg editor using the HTML component of AIR.
The editor is embedded on a php page which take care of loading the data and the editor controls. With the appropriate parameters it works independantly outside of the Air/Flex application.
Initially we were successfully using TinyMCE (pre editor requirements) however the less computer savvy users (most of them) were having issues using the table generator and the image uploaded. To difficult, inefficient and too many steps.
xstandard integration:
xstandard is working fine externally to the application, as it does with TinyMCE. When loading it into the Air/Flex application the controls don't show up instead the source editor is visible. It looks like it is partially loading the activex control.
I have spoken with the xstandard developer, we have tried a few things, different test build etc however with little success.
I thought it may have been the userAgent however I set the HTML parameter userAgent to "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1)" ut this did not work.
Does AIR have restrictions applied to embedded objects?
Any other suggestions?

Hi Damian,
ActiveX is only supported by IE on Windows. Also, I believe the HTML component in Adobe AIR only supports the flash plugin and pdf plugin.

No, you need to compile a "bundle" with ADT on each platform. On Windows it creates a directory with an .exe and the AIR runtime. On OS X it creates a .app file.

Do i use Air or Flex for iPhone and Android app development

Hi guys, whats the main difference between the 2 and does Air or Flex have everything Xcode does for iPhone/iPad development
I'm hearing that Flex has Android and SDK for iPhone, if this is the case why learn Xcode ?

Titanium is good for iOS, but apparently not so good for Android. Moreover, it's not so cheap!
When one chooses a platform, one should also take into consideration the history and stability of the company which offers it.
That is why I would not go to Appcelerator: who knows what's behind the corner?
Sure, it is ironic that I say this after Adobe - a big company - has abandonded Flex...
Some alternatives:
- AMPChroma (Horrible name, but it has a solid company selling it: Antenna Software). This thing has the advantage that the content is not either native or web: the same content can be packaged for a web site AND for an app
     Pro's: Many big players are using it
     Con's: price list not very clear
- Adobe Edge "Preview" + Adobe PhoneGap <--- Adobe says: you create animation for the web, you package it for an app. Not many people have tried it. But apparently it will work.
     Pro's: apparently, Edge is Adobe's instrument to finally go to HTML5.
     Con's: Edge "showcase" performs BADLY and SLOWLY in an iPhone (go think of a Samsung Mini)
- Adobe Flash professional CS6 + Create JS <--- you create animations in Flash, then you export to HTML5 and js for browsers which don't have flash. You can also package with AIR for iOS and Droid.
     Pro's: Flash professional is easy, Action Script is powerful. You can have BOTH the power of Flash and the portability of html5/JS.
     Con's: for how long will Adobe support this Create JS hack? When will Adobe say "OK, now you've done enough automatic porting to JS, from next release on you move to Edge, or to - wait for it - a version of Flash which uses Javascript instead than ActionScript?"
Me, I don't know what to do. I am keen on FlashBuilder/Flex because it's fast to build. Apps are really compatible both with iOS and Android. It has Salesforce.com connectivity. It's cool.
However, there are two problems that get me stuck from continuing with FlashBuilder:
- OK for native apps but... how do I use the Flash Builder/Flex content for the mobile WEB? Flash Builder does not have the CreateJS capability. I do a cool interface and I cannot reuse it on the mobile web if not with apps?
- OK for HTML5 but... it's NOT as good as Flash now. Have you ever seen a Phonegap application with graphics? They're embarassing. Slow, imprecise. And non-compiled Edge stuff is not much better. Is it? any good example.
Bottom line: at the moment, HTML5 support does not seem good. On the other hand, Flex is NOT compatible with mobile web. What IS performing and promises to be compatible with mobile web in addition to native apps?

Webcam not working in AIR with Flex 4.0 SDK

Hello everybody,
I have created an AIR application with the Flex 4.0 SDK which tries to activate a webcam. When I run the application, the webcam signalizes that it has been successfuly activated but unfortunately I do not receive a camera image, nor do I receive an activation or error event from the camera. When I change the application type to "web", everything works just fine.
According to this thread:http://forums.adobe.com/message/2580536 , you should activate the Flex 3 compatibility mode. Unfortunately, I rely heavily on Flex 4 components which cannot be changed or removed.
Is there a way to activate the webcam under AIR with Flex 4?

I used ditto on Mac. I would make a backup copy of the Flex SDK first.
Then use ditto to update the SDK with AIR SDK.

WYSIWYG editor upload with images

Hello, friends!
I need help solving following problem:
I need to create WYSIWYG editor, which just to enter text and image. Other options (like font-size, font-weight...) not need. Then when submit the form with richedit, all data in form with images must sent to server.
1) images must upload
2) text must content following: text <img="src=../image1.png"> text <img="src=../image2.png"> text
or maybe all images must save as a blob data

WYSIWYG Editor in Webdynpro for ABAP

Hello,
we need a simple WYSIWYG Editor in ABAP Webdynpro to format some Texts, which are saved in the backend system.
The Editor should produce HTML-Code or something like that.
Anyone an IDEA?
We have tried the following:
ABAP Webdynpro Application-> IFRAME -> BSP Appication with FCKEditor .. but problem is the data exchange back to the A4WD Application.

Which EHP do you mean because we're doing currently an RampUp with SAP EHP3 for ERP 6.0?
So you mean Basis Netweaver EHP? don't you?

Need help putting a menu designed in Dreamweaver in an external WYSIWYG Editor

I put together a menu that contains spry widgets in Dreamweaver. I need to get what I made into a website hosted by another company. The site allows you to create your own pages through a wysiwyg editor. I'm having trouble figuring out how to attach the .js and .css files. I tried copying the source code into the HTML source editor but it ignored the script and css. I then tried putting the code from the .js and .css file into the source editor but I'm doing something wrong. I'm new to HTML and Javascipt and I have a feeling it is a pretty obvious mistake. I would really appreciate some instruction or advice on how to properly put all of the components into the editor.

Ordered and Unordered Lists viewed in WYSIWYG Editor in RoboHelp 10

I recently upgraded a project from RH 9 (9.0.2.271) to RH 10 (10.0.0.287). Ordered and unordered lists display in the WYSIWYG Editor with more spacing around each line. When I generate the output to HTML Help, the spacing looks fine. I also tested generating output to WebHelp, and again, the output looks fine.
I have paragraph and list styles defined in my style sheet that I apply to the text in the topic. I also looked at the styles in RH 10 and Media is set to "None."
Using the Style Pod, I looked at the set up of the parapgraph and list styles. For those styles, (and my body text styles - which look fine in the WYSIWYG Editor) have spacing before and after spacing set. (NOTE: These styles were created in RH8 and the WYSIWYG Editor displayed the styles appropriately in RH8 and RH9.) Even though I changed the style sheet, the WYSIWYG Editor is still displaying more space around the styles then I am expecting.
I know this is not a huge issue since the output looks fine, but I want to understand why the WYSIWYG Editor isn't working as I expect. I would like the editor to display with correct spacing.
I attached a few screen captures showing what I see.

I suspect part of the issue is that your list styles have spacing above and below and then you have applied paragraph styles that also have spacing above and below.
Using both is OK and is how I work. However, I do not have any spacing above and below in my list styles. I rely on the paragraph style for that. It looks like Rh's Design Editor is applying both but browsers are not.
It is still not quite the same in a browser as in Design Editor but it is much closer. There will also be browser differences anyway so it's a case of getting some balance.
Try removing the before and after spacing in the list style. Alternatively, if you do not generate printed documentation then rely on the list style only. (Select the lists in a topic and set paragraph to None).
Let us know if that is close enough.

Customize the cms wysiwyg editor

How can I customize the toolbars and menues in the wysiwyg editor?
I have managed to customize the menu by editing "./servers/PortalServer/tmp/_WL_user/wlp-commonui-web-lib/ 842fj3/wlp/pinEdit/editor/config/config_menu_custom.js" However, I guess this will be overwritten on the next deploy?
The toolbar is customizable by changing the parameters to the wysiwyg iframe, but how do I do that?

Rather than modifying that file in your temp directory, you could extract that file to your web project and modify it there. That way, your modifications will persist for your project.
Using Eclipse with the Portal perspective, use the Merged Projects View and locate that .js file. Right click on it and extract it to your project. Now, this file in your web project will override the file in the Library Module.
But please note that this WYSISYG editor is not licensed for usage outside of the uses that BEA WebLogic Portal has provided. If you wish to use this editor for your own portlets/purposes, you must contact PinTex for your own license.

Google Docs & WYSIWYG Editors

i have a new iMac (leopard) with the latest firefox and when i try to access google docs i get "Sorry, but this browser does not support web word-processing."
i tried with safari & opera, and got the same response. finally i had to use my PC notebook to access the documents. it looks like a mac os x issue.
with this new iMac i can access any online WYSIWYG editors at all. HELP!

thanks. i did all that, still no change. strangest thing is that i can access google docs using FF & Safari on my PC notebook. i think that these is a mc os setting thats wrong.

TOC Topic content not displayed in WYSIWYG Editor

I use RoboHelp X5. When I click a topic in the TOC pane I
expect to see its contents displayed in the WYSIWYG Editor. Instead
the WYSIWYG pane is grey and the TrueCode pane is blank with a
cursor flashing on the upper left corner!
I searched for some similar issue on this forum and could not
find it. However, I did gather that I could use another editor by
right clicking a topic when in the Project tab and selecting one of
5-6 editors. I tried RoboHelp TrueCode and was amazed and relieved
to see the code and content for the topic displayed in the TrueCode
pane...so I went a step further and tried the WYSIWYG editor and
wonder of wonders, the topic content was displayed.
Can someone please tell me what is going on? Should I
reinstall RoboHelp X5? Why does the topic content not display when
I click the topic from the TOC tab?

Welcome to the forum.
There have been posts about this but maybe your forum search
history is not set to go back far enough.
Rather than right click and selecting RH True Code, at the
bottom of the editing pane there is a true code tab which will
quickly enable you to see your code is still safe. That said, if
you then click WYSIWYG, you don't get the view restored, usually.
Maybe your way has an advantage.
It's one of those things that happens now and again. I don't
think reinstalling will help. I have had it happen several times in
a day and then you go months with it working just fine.
I don't believe anyone has ever lost any data. At worst you
just have to close RH and reopen it.
For what it is worth, I haven't seen this happen in RH7.

CSS Styles are Missing in WYSIWYG Editor

I have had this problem in the past but I am working on my busisnes catalyst site in dreamweaver and then I connect and upload my files through the FTP Connection in the business catalyst plugin for Dreamweaver CS4. The problem I am having is that the CSS Styles that I create in a seperate CSS document and upload to the stylesheets folder are not showing up in the WYSIWYG editor. I have tried to modify the link in the head section of my html and I have tried to upload them through FTP and also the Media manger in the admin panel. How do I get my styles to show up in the editor?

I've confirmed that my CSS classes are showing up in the Apply CSS Class dropdown of the editor for Web Pages and for Site Editor (ICE), but NOT in the editor for a Web App item description. Initially, this was the only place I was checking which was why I thought it wasn't working at all.
Besides this, I've found that applying CSS classes in Site Editor does not work if the selection you are applying the class to is an anchor (for example, a selected class gets applied to heading tags once you deselect the text). If I have applied a class to an anchor from the admin editor or ftp then I select that anchor in Site Editor, the applied class appears as selected in the CSS dropdown, but if I try to change the class in Site Editor by selecting a different class, it does not set the class or have any affect on the existing class.
Has anyone else had these issues or found solutions?

Change Wysiwyg Editor in Web Page Composer WPC

is there any possibility to change the wysiwyg editor in the wpc?
Comparing other web based wyswyg editors to the editor integrated in the wpc it is far from having any advantages...!
- no possiblity to switch to html mode.
- no possibility to assign css classes (if there would be at least a color and font size chooser....)
- no possiblity to create a <table>

There are two possible ways. On the top of the thread you can mark it as answered by yourself or you award someone (who replied) 10points for your solved question.
You can also award less points if u want.
So, the important thing is: Mark it as answered. You will see if you search for problems on SDN, you will be very pleased to see answered threads because then you don't have to go through 1000s of threads to find your answer.

CSS applied to wysiwyg editor

Using RoboHelp HTML 7.02.001 on Windows XP Pro.
1. Wysiwyg editor incorrectly displays Arial sans-serif,
although it is correctly defined in the CSS file.
2. Output (Preview Topic, WebHelp output, etc.) correctly
displays Arial sans-serif.
3. Styles dialog box (Format > Styles) shows correct
definition of sans-serif font but displays what looks like Times
New Roman (with serifs of course). Font dialog box (Format >
Styles > Format > Font) shows correct definition of Arial but
displays serif font.
Does anyone know where the override might be coming from? I
have tried importing CSS files that work fine in ALL my other
projects but do not work properly in this project. The CSS does not
change, but the font definition is not working in the wysiwyg
editor (thought it DOES work in the output).

Found the solution to my problem!
Format > Font Sets dialog box (a dialog box that I never
knew existed!) showed that "times new roman" was being used in
wysiwyg ed instead of "arial". Also discovered that "arial" was the
wrong font--should have been Arial. When I corrected the Font Sets
definition, everything came right again in the wysiwyg ed.

The ckeditor is one of most commonly used editors in the industry. There is a ''New Page'' button next to the ''Source'' button that will let you try it out.
