AIR app installation: "Sorry, an error occurred."
My client is getting this message when they try to install
the latest version:
"Sorry, an error has occurred"
"The application could not be installed because an
application with that name already exists at the selected
installation location. Try installing to a different location."
Why won't it update/overwrite the old version? I don't get
this error message on my machine.
My client says that they only see this message (for which
they've sent screenshots) if the application is currently
installed. They say that they "have to uninstall the old version
first, and then it works." It seems like the new version is simply
not able to recognize the existence of the old application, so when
it sees the directory already taken it just aborts. I have not
changed the application id.
The Install Badge also seems unable to recognize when the
user (myself or the client) has the application installed already.
I'm using Flash CS3, and I've set the ID and Name. There's no
Description or Copyright. I manually added allowBrowserInvocation
in the descriptor XML.

SrikanthTwo things can cause this problem:
1. Version specified in the update() command differs from the
version in the updated file (you have to know to what version you
are updating before using the update() function)
2. The updated version and the installed version were signed
with different certificates (both files have to be signed using the
same certificate or you have to sign the new file with both the old
and new certicate using the migrate parameter) -

Hi There Guys
Please if anyone could help.
I am just testing to see how I can make an Air Application
through Dreamweaver CS3.
I have installed the latest Air latest Air Extension for
Dreamweaver CS3.
There are no other installation from before of above files
and also I have tried the air installer created from dreamweaver on
another pc with Air Runtime the same thing happens.
The error is:
Sorry, an error has occurred
This application requires a version of Adobe Air which is no
longer supported. Please contact the application author for an
updated version.
When viewing this from adobe dreamweaver "Preview in Adobe
Air" it is o.k., but when this is made into a installer it does not
install giving the above error.
I appreciate any help,
Thanks
BenHi!
I think i already know why!! and i'm a beginner!! ';)
It does not works because you have compiled saying its for
another version that the "Adobe Air player" installed on your
systems.
I presume you have installed the lastest PLAYER(think as
flash player for example) but you are telling: this code is for an
old player.
So now either you have to install the old player (it will not
override the new or current player, but add another).
OR
You change the blabla i n your application to tell it to use
the latest player.
In details you have to change this:
<application xmlns="
http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/1.0">
it tells to use the 1.0 (the current latest adobe air player)
its in your app.xml file or something!!
I believe you might have something like
<application xmlns="
http://ns.adobe.com/air/application/1.0.M6">
... you simply need to remove the .M6
To summarize you are creating an install package which
requires another version of the player installed. You can change
this or install the older version.
!!Hope that helps! -
Adobe AIR app installation issue due to certificate problem on mac 10.9.5
Im trying to upgrade and then reinstall an Adobe Air application but get the error message failing to install due to a certificate issue.
The developer says the fix is to uninstall the app and install again but this also fails.
Checked my machine clock - saved but that didnt work
The adobe AIR uninstaller simply says I have the latest version? Cant seem to delete and reinstall although other adobe air apps work so I dont think this is the issue
I have gone through the troubleshooting guide: Troubleshoot AIR installation | Mac OS but still have the issue?
Any ideas would be great.I suspect your Mac OS install was an in place upgrade from an earlier version. This is something I would never even consider with a production machine.

AIR in DW-CS3: JavaScript Error Occurred
I was just completing the AIR Application and Installer
Settings using Dreamweaver CS3; when I clicked the "Create AIR
File" button and received the message "whil executing onClick in
AIRSettings.htm, a JavaScript error occurred".
I have double checked every field but cannot find an error.
Has this happened to anyone else? If so, how did you resolve the
error? [email protected]I am facing the same issue. Did you solve it ? Anyone ? I
tried to spotlight that file "AirSettings.htm" but nothing came
up. -

I'm installing the SCSM2012 Management Server
component on a SQL dev box. During the installation, the very last step (Import Management Packs) fails with this error:
An error occurred while executing a custom action:_PopulateUserRoles
This upgrade attempt has failed before permanent modifications were made. Upgrade has successfully rolled back to the original state of the system. Once the correction are made, you can retry upgrade for this role.
I've already verified that the account I'm logged in with has SA access to the SQL database. Windows 2008 R2 firewall is turned off.....
Has anybody else run into this problem?I don't see anything indicative in the setup log. The setup seems to get all the way to the part where it installs the management packs. Then right after that is when the installation fails and it rolls back.
From the setup log, towards the end:

Tiger 10.4.3 Upgrade installation ends with "Error Occurred"
Nothing like ambiguity to help troubleshoot a software installation. (I've installed Mac OS's since 1986, so before those of you who like to flame people with problems with your favorite platform get out your flame-throwers, stop in your tracks. Comment only if you actually have something constructive to say. I'm a bigger mac-head than you.)
I have a PMG5 1.8ghz single processor rig running 10.3.9 that I got back in April (right before the free Tiger upgrade period). This weekend I bought a copy of Tiger from MacMall, along with a new iMac CoreDuo for the wife. I got it today and attempted to install it. It ran all sorts of checks, and began the installation. It seemed to progress well, albeit slowly. I got tired of waiting and took a nap before I had to go to work. I got up later to find that it ended with "Error Occurred".
Well, I thought it may be a situation of just needing another pass at it. So, I instigated the upgrade again, and asked my family to check after it. They just called to say that "Error Occurred" again.
A few things that might be of use to someone who has gone down my path and has an answer:
- I left all my peripherals attached before the installation, including an external USB 2.0 drive.
-The RAM in the computer consists of 256 mb installed by Apple, and 1gb from Crucial installed by me.
-I have installed all the firmware updates that I could find, including the one that came out specifically for my model of PMG5.
-I had 25 gb's of free space on the drive being upgraded.
-The drive being upgraded was the one that came with the computer, which was bought from the Apple Store (no third-party junk).
Anyone have any suggestions for me? I would greatly appreciate anything you could suggest. I certainly hope that a simple OS upgrade with an installer disk that should be mature by now hasn't hosed my Mac.

Hi Glen, Welcome back to Apple's Users Help Users Forums.
No Flames, I promise.
Is the CoreDuo the new Intel version? (Pardon MY ignorance.)
Some 10.4.5 Disks are machine specific. Do you have the right ones?
Try reinstall w peripherals disconnected. That seems to be standard upgrade advice round here.
Beyond that, hope the REAL Gurus / Maestros find your thread. I'm in quarter vast mode right now. [see below.] -
CustomeUpdateUI for native AIR app installer
Hi,
We have a native installer for a windows and Mac AIR app.
For updates, we use the NativeApplicationUpdater code from:
http://code.google.com/p/nativeapplicationupdater/
After an update has been downloaded and launched, AIR shows a dialong prompting the user to "Replace" or "Cancel"
the update.
I would like to get rid of the dialog as this seems to include a redundant question for the user who chose to update from the first place.
I believe setting the <customUpdateUI> tag at the application decriptor file would hide the dialog, but that causes the update to just launch the existing app. How can I come up with custom logic that will cause the update to actually replace the existing app?
Thanks,
EilonIt does have half an answer. SWFs can request loading AIR applications so they suggested embedding a SWF on the page which would be able to launch your AIR application. Your link would need to fire off some JavaScript to use the ExternalInterface with the SWF to relay your request inside the SWF.
If you really want it on Windows for example then you'll need to register your URI, the example should be self explainatory:

Response (Frederick) - 03/01/2011 12.59 PM
Dear Ettore,
Thank you for contacting CoPilot Technical Support.
If you are experiencing download issues between two Apple platforms (here between the iPhone and iTunes), I advise you contact Apple directly from your purchase history in iTunes then 'Report a problem' as ALK is not in charge of the installation on this device.
Then i contacted Apple and the reply was:
Ettore, please call up to the iPhone technical support. To find the appropriate phone number, please visit:

I am a little bit disappointed. -
Ad-hoc AIR app installation, without UDIDs
I am currently building an AIR app for iOS, targeting iPad, with Flash CS5.5. I realize Flash gives me the option to build and deploy the app as an ad-hoc deployment which is fine. But what I'd really like to do is replicate the process here:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5546581/how-to-distribute-ios-application-wirelessly-wi thout-managing-udids-and-recompil
Where I can point users to a web link that lets them install the app on their device, regardless of whether their UDID is in the provision.
I tick off 'Deploymen - Ad Hoc' in the publish settings, and Flash generates the ipa file fine, but when I upload the ipa and provision file to my ftp server, and try to install on my iPad, an alert box come up saying "Can't connect"
The key piece of the html install looks like this:
<a href="itms-services://?action=download-manifest&url=http://www.example.com/ipadapp/myApp/myApp.plist"><img src="icon_57.png" alt="" width="59" /></a>
It seems the missing piece is the .plist file, but I don't know how to generate that from Flash/AIR.
I have a normal Apple developer account (not enterprise).. not sure if that factors into things. Thanks! You should read all of the comments. By the end it seems as if it may be a special feature of the enterprise account that the UDIDs are collected automatically. Or something like that.
It's not hard to add devices to your developer account, and the Mac App Store application BetaBuilder is incredibly easy to use. You end up with the over the air installing that you want, without your users having to install the provisioning file via iTunes. -

APP-RG-09518: An error occurred while creating a database link
Hi All,
While creating a database link in Oracle EBS from one instance to another instance for transferring FSG reports
Go to Any GL Setup responsibility...Setup>System>Database links > Create new database link
Prior to the above...below steps should be done on the server.
1.grant create database link to <apps.user>; (on db server)
2.source tns entry should be in destination tns file and destination tns entry in source tns file. (check tnsping after entry)
3.*make sure destination tns entry of 8.0.6 oracle home should be in source tns file* (Because we are creating db link for the application)
4.Run the Program FSG Report.
Regards,
Harish Muramshetty.Hi,
I have solved the issue as below:
This error was started when I install a software which I have made myself and it uses sql server compact edition 3.5.
I saw when I manually replaced the sql related files from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.5" with the files which my software setup had "version 3.5.5386.0" then the error started. And if copy back the latest version 3.5.8080.0
then it disappear. So use latest sql files in your software too.
My software was replacing the the latest files with older version.
