.AIR application not associated on Android?

Hi folks, I have a feeling this is a real newbie question so bear with me. I'm trying to install/open an AIR application on my tablet, a Toshiba Thrive that runs Android 3.0. I've installed Adobe AIR, but the .air file installer package isn't associated with AIR (or any program at all) so I can't open it. I'm thinking the application had been developed for Windows and that has something to do with it, but wanted to ask around first. If there's more information needed let me know.

You are correct, the .air installer is for desktops. For Android, you'd need a .apk installer, though in most cases you'll receive the application from the market place. I'd recommend reaching out to the developer and ask if they have an Android application.

Is possible to debug the PHP side of an AIR application?
Because for Web and Mobile applications there is an extra option for debugging ("Web (PHP) Application" and "Mobile (PHP) Application") but there isn't any option like that in Desktop Application.
If is not possible with Flash Builder, does somebody know a workaround for debugging PHP in AIR apps?

AIR application not installed

My AIR application not installed.
AIR application installer shows window with 'Getting ready to install..." and window closed and nothing happens. What I'm doing wrong and where I can see an 'installation log' to obtain the root reason of AIR installation problems?
My env: Fedora 12 x64, AIR and AIR SDK just downloaded and installed from site. All AIR SDK applications (adl and adt) works well.

airappinstaller throws SIGSEGV signal.
I trace it in gdb and see that libxml2::xmlHasProp throws this signal because it receive an invalid node pointer from libadobecertstore.so.
So I can't find or obtain debug symbols for adobeair-1.5.3-9130.i386 and I don't know what I should do to fix a problem...

Adobe Air is NOT at the android market

Hi, I'm having big problems when trying to install adobe air for android.
It's not at the android market. I tried scanning a bar code, searching with the phone, downloading an Air app that directs you to the market and searching in my pc in google, but all the links go to the same place: no Air.
I also tried installing the apk that comes with the Air SDK but it tells me that I have an older version of something.
Does anyone have any idea of what could be wrong?

The Android Market only shows applications that are compatible with your phone. I don't know the history of the Droid, is it possible that you have an older version that doesn't meet the minimum system requirements?

AIR application not appearing in GotoMeeting Session

I was demo-ing an AIR application last Friday, but the group
that was on the GotoMeeting session was not a able to see the app.
That particular desktop window was not being transmitted. I've also
noticed a similar issue when trying to screen capture an AIR window
locally on my laptop which is running Windows XP. It's as if that
window does not exist and there is nothing to capture. Known bug?

It will be most probably because of Security not defined for this new application in the "Member Access profile". Please check.

Adobe Air Applications Not launching. Flash Builder 4.5.1

I had this issue before where only flash based applications would launch but not adobe air. The issue is when you click run on adobe air, in the task manager on windows 7, 64 bit you get: Adobe Air Debug Launcher. Killing that gives me: If the program is already running, close it before attempting to run.
The program never launches hence why you have to kill it in the task manager.
I tried cleaning out the PreloadSWF entry in the mmc.cfg file. This does nothing to help the cause.
Ideas?

Please read the OP on the stale pale loader. I already took out the line in mm.cfg and I set vsible to true (never had to before on any air application Oo)
Tests:
The setting to visible to true though worked..... (again with never had to set that before)

Air application not behaving well on opening outlook

Hi,
I've designed an air application, in javascript in aptana studio,
I need my application to talk to outlook.
However, on opening outlook from my air application, the images in my application are not visible after closing outlook.
Could this possibly be an error in programming or ..??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, tested this and it doesn't work properly. As you said, Spaces has been involved in each 10.5.x update and I am sure there will be more changes in 10.5.5.

i've android tablet(honeycomb 3.2) and adobe air installed with latest version. i have file with air and extension is also .air however when i tried to open file it returns an error like 'there is no application found to open this file'
how can i run .air applications in androids ?

Unfortunately I can only generate a log for the Air install
itself. Once Air 1.5 is installed and I try to install any Air
Application, it fails immediately with the error message in my
initial post. I created the .airappinstall.log following the
procedures in kb403123 and echo was on when I went to the Thwirl
site and clicked "Install Thwirl" and the error message comes up
instantly and no data is added to .airappinstall.log. And when I
download the .air file manually Windows cannot find Air at all to
associate with the .air file. Here is the text from the fresh Air
install I performed right before trying to install Thwirl (taken
from the .airinstall.log file):

AIR application not able to quit on Mac OS X

I've created an Adobe AIR (1.5) application and have installed it successfully on multiple PCs and Mac computers. On a Mac OS X 10.5.6 laptop the application will not 'quit' using either the top Apple Menu bar quit item or from the icon in the Dock. The only way to quit is to select the 'Quit Application' function I built that opens from the Dock Item (on top of the apple-specific quit function from the Dock icon). Has anybody else experienced a similar issue?

Listening for the Exit event and then invoking NativeApplication.exit() is not required (unless your application is doing something specifically with Exit event handling).
I see that the original posts around this issue were last year and were against AIR 1.5....
If possible, could you please re-test your application with the recently release AIR 2 runtime (available here http://get.adobe.com/air/) and let us know if you still see the problem? And if you do, if you could share a small application that demonstrates the issue it would be extremely helpful.

Adobe Air Applications Not Working on New Mac

I had 2 Adobe Air based applications (TweetDeck & Polaris) running well on my old Mac running OSx 10.4.11 and then migrated everything to my new Mac running 10.5.6. Everything came over fine - except now the two Adobe Air apps aren't working. I've tried reinstalling both apps and Adobe Air, and they still aren't working. Suggestions?

Adobe Air application not installing

Hello, I am using Windows vista 32bit. I have adobe Air installed and installing the program "Adobe Air" succeeds with no issues.
The problem is when I try to install a "*.air" package on this computer it does not function. Windows sees the package and the installer opens. The problem is it just stays in my task manager forever.
Any help on how to debug would be appreciated.

I have 64-bit / (x86) windows 7 Home Premium. I've attempted uninstalling and re-installing the latestest AIR version seperately and with Download Helper to no avail. I've also checked my account status and can confirm I have full administrator privileges enabling me to make changes to my computer.

Air Application not installing included folders on Win 7

Hi All
i have a really strange problem. I have made a native air installer. I have included a folder in the included files panel before publishing. When I publish it publishes fine. And when I install the air app it installs the only problem is When I go to the installed directory I see the air app but not the folder I included. Should this be the case? Where is the included folder. Can anyone help???

MAJOR PROBLEM: APPLICATION NOT ASSOCIATED WITH WORKSPACE:

I was looking at one of the
tables, trying to figure out why a template would not show up, but functioned
properly. I then went back into the workspace and noticed that my application
had disappeared from the application list. I looked at the
flows_010600.wwv_flows table and saw that the workspace id for my application
was changed from 651704606211503 to 0. I tried an update query to fix the
problem, however the "SECURITY_GROUP_ID" remained at 0. The query ran was
"update flows_010600.wwv_flows
set security_group_id = '651704606211503'
where id = 105;" where id 105 is the application in question. This was
attempted with the sys privileges and would not update.
I have installed my last export into a different app. id, but I cannot access 105. I have a significant amount of work on this application, and would have to start over. I also want to know why this happened. I sent this to metalink and they sent me back here ( which I wanted to come to first, but thought Metalink would be better, I thought wrong). Can one of you gurus help me out? I cannot update this table, and I cannot access this application at all.

Scott - Updating the HTML DB tables using DML is a good way to lose your data. There are triggers that fire when the security_group_id value isn't set as expected. When you ran the update in SQL Workshop, that value was set to the workspace ID that you were logged into. When you ran it in SQL*Plus it wasn't set. So the best advice is to leave those tables alone unless you get a script from Oracle designed for some specific purpose.

Silentely deploy an air application

Hi,
AIR is already installed on my computer. I run a v3.
Now I want to silentely install an air application (not air itself) on many computers so double clicking the air file is not an option. Anyone knows how to silentely answers the questions asked during the install ?
I also get the message saying the publisher is unknown. Is there a way to skip this step without digitally signing the application ?

Why is my Air application taking so long to show the first view on iOS devices?

I built an Air application that runs on Android devices and iOS devices. The application uses Air 3.4 and Flex SDK 4.6. On my Android device, the application starts in 5 seconds. On my iPad device, the application starts in 90 seconds.
My application has a splash screen, which is launched via the ViewNavigatorApplication property, splashScreenImage.
The application was built in release mode and the SWF file is 1.384M. After I create the ad-hoc build, which includes the Air Captive Runtime, I see the following file sizes and startup times.
iPad 2 - ipa size, 8.6M
12 seconds of black screen. Then my splash screen appears. 80+ seconds of splash screen. Then my first view appears.
Android Nexus 7 - apk size, 4.0M
2.5 seconds of black screen. Then my splash screen appears. 2.5 seconds of splash screen. Then my first view appears.
Here are more details about my app.
It's a video conferencing app. So I have to set renderMode to "cpu". The app has 5 views and several popups. The popups use the SkinnablePopupContainer. The app uses dependency injection as provided by the Parsley framework to share two small data objects between the views. The app uses web service calls to manage the conference state.
The problem occurs at startup. I haven't rendered a view with video logic, and the first view is a welcome page with a scrollable text area for terms and conditions, one button with an icon, one toggle button, and one hyperlink button.
The app has about 400k of embedded images which are rendered using the MultiDPIBitmapSource.
The app has 43.3K of icons for the various sizes as specified in the application xml file.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I figured out how to resolve the issue. I had to change the renderMode from "cpu" to "direct". That solved the problem, and the application performs perfectly. Even the video displays work ok. It's interesting that Adobe advises against using "gpu" or "direct" renderMode when displaying video. I need to figure out why and make sure the application is acceptable as is.
I have more testing to conduct, but I'm very encouraged.
