Air card on Imac. Set up & share internet wirelessly with  Nintendo Wii.

I have tried to set up without success, connecting my iMac,s air card internet connection with a new Nintendo Wii. I have at one point got the Wii to recognize some connection signal (name of my iMac) but no through connection to internet with air card online.
Unfortunately, I have changed several settings on my iMac in the bluetooth and airport setups so it is not at the same starting point as original.
FYI I have an airport extreme also, which has never been utilized but is a recognized network on my MAC.

Your AirPort Extreme should be connected to the internet via the modem or whatever your ISP provides. The Mac and Wii connect to the AirPort, either wirelessly or via ethernet cables. When set up this way, your Mac will have nothing to do with connecting your Wii to the internet.
I hope this video will help:

  • How to share internet connection with KDE networkmanager applet

I mainly use wireless around my house and like to use one computer to share it's wireless to another when installing Arch, until I can get KDE and networkmanager installed so I can easily connect to the wireless. I've always been able to easily share internet connections with Ubuntu, but when I try it with Arch, with Gnome OR KDE (and their respective applets), It just doesn't work.
Is there some library or backend I need to install to make ICS work?
    Thanks!

If this helps at all, here is what I am currently trying: I open up the network settings KDE Control Module, select "Wired", select the device (eth0) and click edit, and under the "IPv4 Address" tab  selecting "Shared" from the "Method" drop-down.
Also, to make it clearer, I am trying to share wlan0(on device 1) through eth0 to eth0 on device 2. Also, device 2 is running the Arch setup and I am telling it to connect to eth0 via DHCP after I select the remote mirror to use. I have managed to do this before when device 1 ran Ubuntu.
I've searched Google, the forums, read the wiki pages for KDE and networkmanager, and can't seem to find a mention of internet connection sharing (pertaining to my usage case; the forums have some posts of people trying to use their computer to broadcast eth0, I'm trying to do the opposite) anywhere on them. In fact, I'll gladly write the section myself if I figure this problem out.
    Hope this extra information helps!

  • Can no longer connect to internet wirelessly with Linksys WRT54G...

    Hi, all...
I'm at my father-in-law's house. His home network setup is as follows:
    * Compaq desktop connected via Ethernet cable to
    * Linksys WRT54G, v3 (IP 192.168.2.1) connected via Ethernet cable to
    * Westell DSL modem provided by SouthEast Telephone (his ISP - IP 192.168.1.1)
I set this equipment up for him about 18 months ago. His Compaq desktop connects perfectly to the internet, using the setup I described above, which I set up for him about 18 months ago. I *used* to be able to connect to the internet wirelessly (with both my IBM ThinkPad and my MacBook; my bro-in-law *used* to be able to connect to the internet wireless (with his Dell laptop).
For reasons we don't yet understand, neither of us can connect wirelessly to the internet any longer. I have called Linksys, posted to their board, and read other threads here, so I am aware that MacBooks have some issues with Linksys routers. I'm getting ready to phone my father-in-law's ISP, to see if they can help.
But... I don't understand why this used to work, but doesn't any longer. I would be very grateful for any help any of you great folks could provide, and I will gladly post here any detailed info on the setup that might be of help!
    Many thanks,
    Bill J.

    Thanks for your reply.
Actually the Linksys 2Wire modem works fine in OSX and when connecting via a Compaq PC I also have in the house. It is just on the MacBook running XP that it fails to "connect". XP see's the network but cannot connect.
Also, I downloaded again bootcamp and created a fresh driver CD, reinstalled the driver and received the same error: 1706 No valid source could be found for product Macintoish Drivers foir Windows XP.msi.
I looked at the directory on the CD and it appears that there are no driver files, only documentation.
I called Apple, got no help, called Microsoft, spent 1.5 hours talking to them
    they were no help either.
I sent a messge to the bootcamp beta mail address informing them that it seems the drivers are not being downloaded with bootcamp.
    Thx again.

  • Can't connect internet wirelessly with OSX 10.5.6

My G4 connected internet wirelessly with OSX 10.3.9. After I loaded OSX 10.5.6 my computer does not recognize nor connect wirelessly with my home network. It connects fine with ethernet. Please help.

I found the trouble was my base modem. My DSL carrier had to upgrade the software on the modem. This solved the problem.

  • Using time capsule to share internet connection with a pc via ethernet

    Hi,
I've recently acquired a time capsule and was wondering if i could use it to share a wireless internet connection via ethernet to my non-wireless (windows 7) pc?
My current situation is that i have a wireless modem/router that shares my internet connection wirelessly with my mac mini.
I have a pc without a wireless card that i want to connect to the wireless network so i was wondering if it was possible to attach the pc and the time capsule with an ethernet cable, then connect the time capsule to the wireless network and share the internet connection with the pc.
Can anyone tell me if this is possible, and if so how?
    Thanks

    Welcome to the discussion area!
IF...your wireless network is now being created by another Apple "n" router like an AirPort Extreme, AirPort Express or Time Capsule, it would be possible to do what you want to do.
But the Time Capsule would not be compatible for what you want if your wireless is created by another manufacturer's router. The Time Capsule could "join" this wireless network so that backups would occur over wireless. However, when the Time Capsule is configured this way, the ethernet ports on the device are not active, so this would not help with the ethernet connection that your computer needs.
A new AirPort Express 802.11n would do what you want. It has the capability of joining virtually any wireless network and the ethernet port can be enabled using the ProxySTA feature, so it would work for your purpose.

  • How to set up an internet radio with itunes?

I want to set up an internet radio so that when I play musics from itunes, my friends could share to enjoy. I guess this needs to stream from itunes and then broadcast. Nicecast would do the job. But it is not free. Is there another solution? Thanks.

Nicecast is only $40. I use it and it is very easy to use once set up. A few years ago I saw a Quicktime Broadcaster but I never investigated that. It might still exist.
But I would recommend Nicecast. It works right on your computer and depending on your upload capacity you can handle 5-10 listeners.

  • I want to share internet connection with external IP

    Hello, guys.
I am running 2010 2.4GHz Mac Mini with 2GB RAM. My inernet cable goes directly to my Mac with no router whatsoever. Here's my problem:
I'm trying to set up a game server (Minecraft). So I need port 25565 to be opened. I managed to do that on my Mac and it's working perfectly. But now I want to host that server on my laptop (running Windows 7).
When I share my internet connection with that laptop and run the server and then check the port using canyouseeme.org I get message that that port is closed, connection refused.
After few hours of no results (adding Firewall rules, trying to port forward (before I see that port forwading can be done only using a router)) I call up my ISP and the guy tells me that when my Mac shares the internet connection, my laptop's IP is internal thus making the server that it's running invisible to others. My question is:
How do I share the Mac's connection via WiFi so that the laptop gets external (visible to the public) IP?
I really hope I made my problem clear.
    Thanks.

    Get a router.
The internet is a dangerous place for a computer without a properly configured firewall.
Also, when you get said router, look at the Logmein Hamachi VPN. It provides a point to point vpn connection which should resolve your minecraft issues.

I have an iPhone 3GS with the latest iOS installed, then the personal hotspot option is ON and it shares internet connection to a laptop with Windows 7, 32 bit version and with the latest version of itunes installled (10.6.1.7).
But when I connect this same iPhone to another laptop with Windows 7, 64 bit version with the latest version of itunes 64 bit, there is no internet sharing, no error, no signal of fails, it is just as if the hotspot option were OFF.
Its is posible to share internet from iPhone 3GS to a PC with Windows 7, 64 bit version?

Hey there @slee , welcome back
I would suggest trying the steps in this guide for the installation troubles you are having on your one specific Windows 7 computer.
Windows 7: The Progress Bar on the Software Installation Stops or Stalls
You can also try disabling your firewall while you run the installation to see if that helps.
    Let me know the results!

  • Make AirPort Extreme share internet connection with Time Capsule

    Hello,
This is the situation: in one room there's an old Mac, the modem which delivers the internet and the AirPort Extreme which is connected to the modem.
In another room there's the Mac Pro, the Time Capsule which is connected to the Mac Pro with an ethernet cable and to a printer via USB.
I want the AirPort Extreme to wirelessly share it's internet connection with the Time Capsule so that the Time Capsule can share the printer with all three Macs (old Mac, Mac Pro and Macbook Pro), the Mac Pro can use the Time Capsule for Time Machine functionality and maybe the Macbook Pro too.
And just using the Time Capsule for internet.
    How can I do this?
At the moment the AirPort Extreme is disconnected and the Time Capsule is used instead, but this way I can't share the printer...
    Thanks!

Is that AirPort Extreme "flat" or dome-shaped?  If it's flat (802.11n-capable), you should be able to configure the "main" router to "Allow this network to be extended" and the other to "Join a wireless network".  If the Extreme is dome-shaped, then you need a more-complicated "WDS" arrangement.  In either case it shouldn't matter much which router plays which role.
I'm not sure what you mean by "And just using the Time Capsule for internet."

Is the printer connected to the USB port of the Time Capsule?  Can you see the printer in the "Printer" panel of AirPort Utility?  What happens when you try to use it from one of the Macs?

  • Issue in connecting to the internet wireless with my Linksys

OK. Here's the deal. I am entirely frustrated and also over my head trying to solve this on my own as I have no idea what I'm doing.
I have a Mac Powerbook, OS X (3.9). I have always connected to the internet wirelessly through my Linksys router (Wireless B Access Point, Model Wap 11).
I have recently moved and now use Comcast for my internet. When they installed my internet, I had not yet unpacked my wireless router, so I was set up to be connected via the actual cable plugged in. Now that the router is all set up, I cannot for the life of me get my wireless to work. Currently, I can use the internet wirelessly in other homes/school no problem. In those cases, I don't do anything, I just turn on my computer and it connects automatically. But for some reason in my apartment I cannot make it work.
I *think* the problem lies somewhere in the IP address area? If I look at my Airport settings and go to the TCP/IP tab, there is no information contained on the screen. Meaning, in the area where it says IP Address, Subnet Mask and Router, there is NO data listed, just gray empty space. The same goes for the DNS Servers and Search Domains areas, but at least in that case there is a white box to input text.
I can choose the "Configure IPv4 Using DHCP Manually" and that will let me input numbers, but I have no idea if I should even be playing around with this.
Also, perplexing me even more, is the fact that I can choose my Linksys internet connection through the Airport screen, and when I have selected it, I show full bars. But I can't actually connect.
Silly me, I attempted to call Comcast for help with the issue, but they say that as long as I can connect to the internet in any way (plugged in) then they do not care that I can't connect wirelessly.
I miss checking my email in bed...someone please help!!!
Thanks a million in advance for any and all help.
    -kt

Are u talking about routers username , password? Well there is one routers username ,password (default is "admin") and the other is your cable ISP username , password (on the routers webpage). I am talking about the latter. If nothing works, try resetting your router ... You will have to configure it again (doesnt take much time if you know it).

  • IMac can not share internet with new MBP

I just purchased a 13" MBP(10.5.7)and wanted to update software, register, etc. I'm trying to share the internet from my G5 iMac(10.5.7). With airport turned on,I've turned on internet sharing from ethernet to airport on the imac but the Radar icon does not display the "arrow" to show that the iMac is acting like a base station. The firewall setting in the security pref. is set to allow all incoming connections. i keep trying different combinations of settings but the only change is a light gray "monitor" icon on the airport radar in the tool bar. ( and I can't seem to repeat that)The new MBP sees the iMac in the airport drop down menue but does not connect, it says it needs a password but none was established on the imac. When opening safari is says not connected to internet. I've read many post regarding sharing but I must admit I'm confused. I thought this was supposed to be simple.
    Thanks for any responses

I have done those things. I tried the same with an older ibook and three clicks and the airport icon showed an arrow (signaling it now is a base station) no problem but not on either of the leopard machines. is there a problem with sharing using leopard?
When I set the imac to share the ethernet connection and choose by airport the red Button changes to green. the preference window says "sharing your ethernet connection" but no change at the icon on the upper right menu bar. (I've always thought it changes to an arrow over the "radar" icon) if I close the sharing window and then reopen it or turn the airport on/off the internet sharing box becomes unchecked and sharing is turned off. I can't seem to get the radar icon to change and the sharing settings to stay "set".

  • 10.6.1 Server - how to set up as internet gateway with dynamic IP?

    Hi,
I installed Snow leopard server 10.6 on a macpro, to share server services (address book, ical, web, mail and VPN) over my office local network, wirelessly (less than 10 computers, all macs).
I would like to set it as a gateway, as indicated on the manual "getting started", so: Internet > adsl modem > server > Time capsule/extreme (for sharing wirelessly the internet connection and all the services provided by server).
I don't have a static IP address and i don't have a DNS managed from ISP.
I tried to read many posts, discussions and apple/resources manuals, but i didn't find out the right way to fix this, with proper configuration of DNS, to keep it standing.
    Which steps should i follow?
Note: There is a thread from Singapore for setting up server without a static IP, but the configuration is: internet > DSL modem > airport > server (it's not specified how users can connect from outside the network)
i would like instead to set up the configuration explained above: internet > adsl modem > server > Time capsule/extreme
Thanks in advance for your help
    Pietro

Check out this reference material. http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/NetworkServices_Adminv10.6.pdf
It's a little lengthy and in-depth, but not terribly difficult to walk through.
    In short:
1.- pick an address range (192.168.1.1-254, for example)
2.- assign a static ip to your server (192.168.1.1)
3.- configure your server's network interface to point at your current router (adsl modem), and use your server's static ip for dns lookups
3.- turn on the dhcp service and configure a scope (192.168.1.20-254, to give you a few addresses at the bottom of the range outside the leasing scope)
4.- turn on the dns service and configure a forward and reverse lookup zone for your internal domain name (internal.yourcompany.com)
5.- configure your clients to pull addresses from dhcp
I'm sure I missed some important stuff, and don't be upset if your neighborhood gets access to your internal resources due to a misconfiguration of your routers acl's.
If you're still not clear on what to do, bring in an I.T. consultant for a short engagement to initialize and stand up all your services and show you how to support them.
