Air Display and iPad Question

I am thinking about using Air Display on my iPad and on my iMac so my iPad can serve as a second monitor.
From reading as much as I can find about Air Display, I see that the 2 systems communicate via WiFi.
My question - I am assuming both systems communicate from one IP address to the other. If both IP addresses are on the same LAN, does the communications remain within the local network or do they go out on the internet and back in? My internet connection is via satellite and has a finite download limit per month. If the communications goes out on the internet and then back into my LAN, I would have a capacity problem.
At $30 for both software pieces, I would rather have this question answered before I spend the money and do my own testing. Surely someone has made this test before.

First, for faster responses, please contact our support team at http://avatron.com/support. I just happened onto your message here because it showed up in a Google Alert, but I often ignore those because they're mostly breaking news about Royal Air Force air displays in the UK and whatnot.
Anyway, two things:
First, Air Display won't cost you $30. You only pay for the client (the part that runs on the machine that will be used as a monitor). The host software is absolutely free. So, if you are using an iPad as a monitor for your iMac, you would only pay $9.99 for the iOS client. If you are using a Mac as a monitor for another Mac, you would buy the Mac app for $19.99 in the Mac App Store (or from our web site).
Second, Air Display does not route your data through any device outside your local network. You can even run on an ad hoc network between your iMac and your iPad. No Internet connection is necessary. The only communication to the Internet is for administrative tasks, like when the host software periodically checks our server to see if a software update is available.

Bag that will carry MacBook air 13 AND iPad

Ok. Let me preface this by saying I'm very very particular about my bags and what I'm looking for may not exist but I'll give it a shot. Here's what I'd like:
1. A backpack format (although messenger or sling would be ok)
2. Holds MacBook air 13" and iPad
3. Laptop portion is made for the air (I.e. not "for laptops up to 15", etc.)
4. Has several small compartments for cables, power brick, mouse, etc.
I've looked all over and can't seem to find anything that fits this bill. There are a TON of bags for larger laptops and some even have iPad slots but I haven't seen one for an air and an iPad.

I'm looking for a nice, possibly leather, bag to hold my MacBook Air 13" and iPad, both in sleeves, compact enough to 'sneak' on board a plane as an additional piece of hand luggage. Yes, I must have laid my hands on a 100 diff. types, the ones i found best made, and most handy (without being extremely expensive) are the INCASE cases.
Same cases Apple stores carry as well. The insides are fuzzy, theyre well made, and for a 13", cost is $60 US

New MacBook Air and iPad question

Hi everyone,
I purchased a Macbook in 2009 and have today upgraded to a brand new MacBook Air. My question is about my iPhone and iPad and keeping these up to date. Both are running iOS 5 so I do all updates by wifi which is easy and fast. Although prior to iOS 5 of course I had to connect these to my Macbook and update that way. At this stage I am still setting up my new Air and just wonder if there is even any need to connect either device to it? I have the music that I want on both devices and new used my Macbook to download any apps, I always do them directly on each device. So do I need to set up either on there? At this stage I think no but I am just wondering if I am forgetting something.

Setup Airport Extreme for the home wireless - MacBook Air, Pro, and iPad connect just fine. Wireless will not work to Windows 7 and Vista machines - network seen, tries to connect, but fails after entering WPA key.

Can't get Windows Vista or Windows 7 laptops to access internet via Airport Extreme. Works fine with security on MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iPad. Brand new Airport, bought today. Windows machines worked fine with existing, relatively modern Cisco home router. The Windows machines see the wireless network, prompt for password, and then cannot connect. Have tried all sorts of things with Windows machines, deleted existing networks, etc. even tried guest login with no security on the Airport - no luck. Windows XP machine directly (wire) connected works fine. Magic Jack works OK. Light is green on the front.

IOS5 and iPad question

I just upgraded my iTunes and iPad to be on iOS5. My iPad no longer syncsmovies or photos - iTunes indicates they are synced, but nothing on the ipad. HELP! It also appears the only way to see music content from iTunes is to now upload to the Cloud. This doesn't make any sense to me.

I also had a lot of problems after ios 5. Go back andcheck your settings in itunes. Make sure you have the movies and photos added to the library and have them selected to sync. Then resync and you shoulb be ok.

Lcd display and iPad serial numbers

After repair lcd display I want to be sure that lcd display (was returned separatly) is lcd display from iPad. i.e. I want to be sure that I paid for lcd replacement. Can I compare serial numbers or smth like that?

In this case what does these numbers mean?

Mail IOS 7.0.4 in IPhone and iPad question

I have been noticing that when I receive mail from this one company I only get the mails on my desktop. I do not get them on my IPhone OR my IPad. I already know that if I open the received mails on my desktop I will NOT see them on my IPhone or IPad but I purposely looked in my mail on my desktop amd see I recieved 3 mails from the same company, I did NOT open them so I then checked my mails on my IPhone and IPad and see all my other mails come in fine but the 3 from this ONE company do not show up on my IPhone or IPad.
I'm thinking this is a setting?
I have an IPhone 5 and an IPAd2 both running IOS 7.0.4
any other info needed I can supply. I'm going out of town I need to make sure I'm able to get mail from this company as it is toed to my job.

I just checked the settings on my Iphone and "Delete from server is set to never" ( it has always been this way)
I do not see "Delete from server" on my IPad settings
I also changed that preference on my desktop "mail settings" I will let you know if that does the trick.

AIR 16 and iPad Mini 1 / iPhone 4S / iPod

Hello,
many customers of mine still have an iPad Mini 1 or an iPhone 4s which is a no-go for a app store update of my apps with the current Adobe Air SDK.
I have an app that uses according to Adobe Scout a maximum of 170MB of RAM at its peak. With the old AOT and SDK < 15 all worked fine. The app never ran out of RAM on these devices.
Since I use the new SDK the app is much less responsive on these devices and very often crashes with bug_type 198. I have on the testing devices iOS 8.0 installed.
Please fix this. Is it a 64 Bit problem since eventually these devices don't have the 64 Bit CPU of the newest devices?
On iPhone 5,6,6+ all works fine. I guess there are still millions of devices out there that are not 64 Bit native.

Mini Display and Thunderbolt Question

So I have a Macbook Pro with mini display port and I bought a Thunderbolt enabled iMac. I thought because of the supposed "backwards compaitbilites" that everything would be fine to connect. I bought the Thunderbolt cable recommended by an Apple Authorized Reseller, only to find out that it cant connect the laptop to iMac for use as a bigger display. Further research confirmed that a thunderbolt device can go to mini display, but not the other way around.
So I am wondering, if I have a mini display to hdmi, can I buy a Thunderbolt to hdmi and use the hdmi to link to two since the signal will be converted for hdmi?
I really need this to work...

That will not work. Your iMac can only be used as an external display for another Mac through a Thunderbolt cable, not a Thunderbolt adapter.
Instead, the only way you have in order to use your iMac as an external display is ScreenRecycler > http://www.screenrecycler.com You just need that both computers are connected to the same network

IPhoto and iPad question.

I am using iPhoto on my iPad. How can you create an Album in iPhoto? I can share, email, creat journals, etc....but how can I take photos uploaded on my iPad sitting in photo stream, and creat an album out of them?

As far as I know you can't use home sharing to view photos in the iPhoto on the iPad, you will need to copy the photos onto the iPad - which you can do by connecting the iPad to your Mac, selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and then using the Photos tab on the right-hand side of iTunes to select which photos to sync.
There may be third-party photo apps that support browsing a directory on your Mac

Comparison between ipad 4 with retina display and ipad mini with retina display

Recently I bought an ipad mini with retina display, when playing clash of clans I found that ipad 4 having nicer graphic than ipad mini with retina display, why? I though ipad mini with retina display having better graphic.? Or my newly bought ipad mini with retina display got problem?

At last i ordered for 32gb ipad mini with retina display. Yet to receive...
And there now is a small voice in side my heart which says that price comparison b/w iPad mini with retina display and iPad mini is considerably more. I feel that is it worth giving more money for retina display'?..
Could anybody help me to stop that voice..
And my choice of 32gb ipad mini with retina dispaly is fine against iPad air with all its light weight and all other fascinating features??...

I Have the same problem. It started with using Safari, so I posted a question and then advised to do a cold reboot(home button + power button), it helped fix some other bugs, but not the reboot. I also reset all settings in system Settings. It fixed some more bugs, but reboots still happen on YouTube app now. I think this may be a modem driver problem, because it only happened to me when I was communicating with the Internet.
BY the way, the keyboard after iOS 8 update ***** too. It gets stuck on Cap and double-letters occasionally.

Are there keystrokes to activate Air Display ?

From time to time, screen on my Windows laptop blacks out, but laptop works fine otherwise. I installed Air Display (and put it in StartUp menu) to use ipad as a second monitor. When my pc screen blacks out ie when I can no longer use touchpad pointer, are there keystrokes to activate Air Display and connect with my ipad ?

or contacting their support and asking. I don't see any mention of keyboard shortcuts, but they might have them, or there may be a way to use a keyboard macro generator to do what you want.
