Air Drop and Air Play incompatible
Cannot get air play on my phone and it insists on placing air drop where the icon for air play should be.
Air Play is on the same Wi-fi network and works still from my computer on the network I phone sometimes shares the airplay icon with the airdrop but sometimes it doesn't. right now it is not on my 5c or on my wife's 4s. we automatically updated to 7.1.2 and that's all she wrote.

I recently bought two iMac quad core i5 processor speed 2.5 Ghz. Every time I use Air Drop and I send a file from one iMac to the other, a black curtain drops and I am asked to restart the computer!!! What can I do?
That's a kernel panic and indicates some sort of problem either with the computer's hardware or software. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on diagnosing kernel panics. It would help to post the panic log: Mac OS X- How to log a kernel panic.
Meanwhile, try booting the computers into Safe Mode then restarting normally. If this is simply a disk repair or cache file problem then this may fix it.
You can also try creating a new admin account on each computer then booting into the new account. This would help determine if the problem is related to a bad file in the user accounts. -
I would like to copy my iPhoto (9.4.1) library from my Mac Pro (10.7.5) to a Macbook Pro (10.7.5). Can I drag the iPhoto Library from the Pictures folder to Air Drop and send them to the MacBook? If I then move that to the Pictures folder on the MacBook will that then be a usable iPhoto library on the Macbook?
It would be better if you could connect the two Macs via a hard wired LAN to copy the library from the Mac Pro to the MacBook. Wireless connections can have momentary dropouts which could affect the reliable copying of files.
If you do go with Air Drop be sure to open and inspect the copied library closely to confirm it was a successulf copy.

Air Drop and File Sharing Between Macs Please HELP
I have a 2011 Mac Book Pro running Mavericks and a 2010 Mac Pro running mountain lion and I am having trouble air Dropping and file sharing between them.
My MBP works fine. It can see other macs and share with them on my home network. My MP on the other hand cant see any other computers under the shared devices location in my finder. I have turned on file sharing for my MP as well as screen sharing. Neither works. My Mp used to be able to Air Drop and File share.
When I try to Air Drop to my MP it wont receive the item.
Has someone been through this before and know how to fix the issue? Ive been trying to research this for a while and haven't been able to find a solution.
Any help would be great!

AIR runtime and AIR applications built using Captive Runtime still need Admin Privilege to Install
I am working on a small project to install AIR application(native .exe & .dmg) with AIR runtime without needing the Administrator privilege so I used Captive runtime but the installation is still asking for admin privilege
I bundled AIR application with AIR runtime using Captive runtime from flash builder 4.6, then I packaged this into a .MSI using Advanced Installer. Now when I install it for a user without admin privilege it prompts me for Admin credentials.
Can you please tell me if
1. I need AIR distribution license to install AIR runtime without Admin privilege
2. Do I need a different installer
3. Am I missing any step here

Are you using an AIR based native installer or have you taken the application with the captive runtime and rolled this up in your own installer?
Here's a section from the Installation and deployment options in Adobe AIR 3 article that might help:
Installation privileges
When designing an installer, one has the option to choose from approaches that may or may not require administrative privilege. For example, a drag-and-drop install on Mac OS X requires no special privilege; users can always copy the application into their own application folders, for which they have the necessary permissions. On the other hand, if registry keys must be written to the machine-specific portion of the registry on Windows, installation of that application will require administrative privilege to do so.
The two installer formats directly supported by AIR, AIR files and native installers, have always required administrative privilege. This was a design decision made in part to simplify the implementation of the AIR installers: If administrative privilege is assumed to be available, implementation is possible if the registry can be written to, and so on. It was also selected because, in many enterprises, this is the desired behavior: administrators can use the privilege requirement to gate software installation.

Silent install Air Runtime and Air App with custom installer?
I want to use a custom installer that will perform some actions, and then silently install air runtime and an air application. The goal here is to be able to perform a customized install for an Air application (for a user that might not have Air installed) without confusing the user with multiple install screens. Can I use a custom installer to silently install Air (if the user doesn't have it installed) and the Air app? If so, are there any restrictions on the custom installer? system they are making available to developers that can be easily

USB communication AIR desktop and AIR mobile app
Hi! Does somebody know the possibilites of USB communication between and AIR desktop app and an AIR mobile app. I need to send files from an desktop application to the external memory on an mobile device. Is it possible for the desktop app to recognise when the mobile is connected. And is it possible for the mobile app to send commands the desktop app? So I need a two way communication. Anybody who has any ideas?

I downloaded and installed Lion 10.7 on my IMAC 2.16 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo. Everything went seemlessly and painlessly. The only problem I had occured when I went to use AirDrop. It does not exist on my computer. I thought that it was a part of the Lion 10.7 software. Any suggestions? Thanks, in advance, in case I forget to thank someone later.
Airdrop is only supported on certain hardware (mostly newer); if it is not listed under Go in Finder, then yours does not.

Error 1620 During AIR Update and AIR App updates
On of our customers is having repeated problems installing our application update on Windows XP SP3. I checked the install.log and see that the most recent error he is getting is Windows Installer Error 1620, but my research has not turned up very much helpful information about that error. Do you know what might cause this?

Thanks so much for the quick response. After he investigated further, he determined that it was Comodo Internet Security Premium. He disabled it, uninstalled, and then reinstalled both AIR and You Need a Budget (our product), and it worked great after that! Thanks again for the quick response.

Ios 7 air drop not working with mountain lion air drop
Hi, didn't see an iOS 7 forum, so I'm posting it here since I was testing it out on my iPhone 5.
I tried to use air drop to share photos b/w my iPhone and my MBP running mountain lion, both has air drop enabled, but I couldn't see either on the air drop window.
is iOS 7 air drop not compatible with OSX air drop??

thanksI have a Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Folio i5. Also, even before reading your suggestions, I moved my phone hand set away from the iPad. There aren't any other sources within 10 feet although the phone base is within 30 feet. The WiFi router is about 5 feet away. Haven't had a chance to "troubleshoot" the connection.
Have you any suggestions for Air Drop or Air Print? My Pixma MP 450 which in excellent working order isn't compatable with either OS 10.9.x or iOS 7.
Canon suggested a Pixma MG 3520 which was hellatious to set up, requiring a big download and both a USB cable and Ethernet connection to the router, and isn't working with the iPad.
Clearly, technological "advancements" are for teeny boppers who spend their time taking phone pictures, sending mindless messages and listening to music. Oh, to be 14 again.
