Air drop missing

I have an iPhone 5 with the air drop option in the control center, however there's no such option on my brand new iPad. Haven't seen any forum entries on how to make it appear, help?

Air Drop missing on iMac 20"

Hi guys, after I installed Lion on my MacPro, my wife did the same on her iMac 20". The problem is that she cannot see Air Drop like is showing on my MacPro.
What could be the cause?

Have you seen this at the bottom of the description for Lion in the App Store:
AirDrop is supported on the following Mac models: Macbook Pro (late 2008 or newer), MacBook Air (late 2010 or newer), MacBook (Late 2008 or newer), iMac (early 2009 or newer), Mac mini (mid 2010 or newer), Mac Pro (early 2009 with AirportExtreme card and mid 2010 or newer).

I thought Air Drop would work between my iPad air and macbook pro running Mavericks

The air drop on the Ipad seems to only be useful with ipads and iphones (ios7). Am I missing something?

You are not missing anything. This is currently how it is with AirDrop. It will only work from iOS to iOS or Mavericks to Mavericks. Not iOS to Mavericks or vice versa.

ive just put lion on all 3 of my Mac's, My Unibody Mac Mini and Mac Book Pro give me the otion for air drop but my 2008 Mac Book dont? any ideas

My Pro is mid-2007 so AirDop is out but I am still having network issues since the Lion install on both machines. I did post this a couple of days ago in Lion Newtorking & got reads but no replies. Maybe you guys can help:
I cannot get my MacPro to mount onto my macbook pro. I can get to the drives on my MacPro using CMD+K afp, but need the drives to show up on the desktop. When I try to connect it simply says, 'connection failed'.
1. I have re-checked my 'sharing' setting on both computers. my admin login has read & write access on both computers. Is there a new setting issue I am missing with the AirDrop?
2, I am using Belkin wirelkess router from the Pro & WiFi on the macbook. The macbook show the AirDrop in the Finder sidebar so it is there but obviously not on the Pro.
3. i have tried using the admin logins for both computers on the macbook to gain access, it did not work.
4. when i access them using CMD+K, they do not mount to the desktop nor the finder window sidebar.
I hope you guys can help. This is taking too much time to work around.

AIR DROP DOESN'T WORK

The airdrop feature does not work between my iPhone 4S (iOS 7.0.6) and iPad Mini (iOS iOS7.0.6) - there is no way of air dropping between the two.
The Apple help shows Air drop on Control Centre but there is no Airdrop icon on Control Centre of either of my devices. Bluetooth and wifi are switched on and both devices are on the same wifi network at home and both independently access wifi for web and email just fine.
Another promise from Apple not yet fulfilled but perhaps there is something I have missed? Any help much appreciated.

Why does my mid-2011 Macbook Air not support Air Drop/Continuity/Handoff? It has Bluetooth 4.0, which is what I thought was the main requirement for getting these devices to work together. I also have an iPhone 6 Plus and a 4th gen iPad.

If you check your "System Information", it will tell you if Handoff is supported:
Click on  > About This Mac > System Report...
Under Hardware, click Bluetooth and check the "Handoff Supported" line

That's a kernel panic and indicates some sort of problem either with the computer's hardware or software. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on diagnosing kernel panics. It would help to post the panic log: Mac OS X- How to log a kernel panic.
Meanwhile, try booting the computers into Safe Mode then restarting normally. If this is simply a disk repair or cache file problem then this may fix it.
You can also try creating a new admin account on each computer then booting into the new account. This would help determine if the problem is related to a bad file in the user accounts.

I would like to copy my iPhoto (9.4.1) library from my Mac Pro (10.7.5) to a Macbook Pro (10.7.5). Can I drag the iPhoto Library to Air Drop and send them to the MacBook? Will that then be a usable iPhoto library on the Macbook?

It would be better if you could connect the two Macs via a hard wired LAN to copy the library from the Mac Pro to the MacBook. Wireless connections can have momentary dropouts which could affect the reliable copying of files.
If you do go with Air Drop be sure to open and inspect the copied library closely to confirm it was a successulf copy.

iCloud space is for backup only.
You need more local storage; free up space on iPad:
Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Delete what is not needed to free up space on iPad.

Why can't I get air drop to work?

Im trying to Air Drop a photo from my mac book pro running 10.9.1 to my iPhone 5 rinning iOS7 and I can't geting either device to show up on Air Drop. Both devices are allowing to be visable by everyone and im stumped. Any ideas?

That's weird RM. In my control center, when I swipe up it's right above flashlight, timer, calculator and camera icons. Turn the iphone off and back on. If it still doesn't come back on make sure that wifi and/or bluetooth are turned on. If that also doesn't work, perhaps you should try backing up the iphone and doing a restore to make sure it's not an issue with the software update from 8.1.3 to 8.2.

Okay, as I'm working through this I see that I have to add the "Admin" account to each file with "read only" permission. Simply changing the "everyone" account access does nothing.
So how do I change the permissions settings in iPhoto or Aperture to give each exported file the desired permissions? I cannot locate a setting in the iPhoto or Aperture applications.
Also, I added a password to the user account. It did not change how files are output.
