I had the same problem on my mac mini.
Makes sure your computer is on the following list.
Only the following Apple computers are able to take advantage of the Air Drop feature:
MacBook Pro (Late 2008 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2010 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 or newer)
iMac (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac mini (Mid 2010 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2009 with AirPort Extreme card, or Mid 2010)

Air Drop problem iMac to iPad air.

My iMac on 10.10.2 Yosemite cannot/will not see my iPad air on iOS8.1.3 using the AirDrop, though both are on same network and only feet apart.
Why might this be???? What am I missing?

I have the same issue. My iPhone 5 with IOS 8.1.3 and my MacBook Pro 15" Late 2008 with Yosemite 10.10.2 can't see each other in AirDrop. Also there are no AirDrop settings available in my Finder window.

im trying to transfer a photo from my iphone 5 to my macbook pro and the iphone doesn't find my mac, the mac does find the iphone and can transfer to it but not the iphone

TThe MacBook has to be from 2012 or later. Is Bluetooth on on both devices?

Update 2, if it can help someone:
Finally I don't manage the drag and drop by myself using
DragManager.doDrag(...). Why? Because doing so if the user clicks
on the scrollbars, on the datagrid header or on an empty row, it
triggers the drag start and that is ugly. By letting Flex managing
the drag and drop process, this doesn't append. BUT I was unable to
use a custom proxy image then. Until I found this article:

The trick is:
1) save the mouseX and mouseY using the mousedown event.
2) override dragImage(), as the article says, to create your
custom proxy, attaching to it a FlexEvent.UPDATE_COMPLETE event,
saving it to a class variable and returning it.
3) When you receive the FlexEvent.UPDATE_COMPLETE event, you
update the proxy position (that is saved in a class variable) using
the saved mouseX and mouseY and you remove the listener to the
event:
When you drop the proxy, you access the dragged items in :
event.dragSource.dataForFormat("items")
Hope this helps, I spent lot of time trying to resolve this
issue! Now it works perfectly! :-)

That's a kernel panic and indicates some sort of problem either with the computer's hardware or software. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on diagnosing kernel panics. It would help to post the panic log: Mac OS X- How to log a kernel panic.
Meanwhile, try booting the computers into Safe Mode then restarting normally. If this is simply a disk repair or cache file problem then this may fix it.
You can also try creating a new admin account on each computer then booting into the new account. This would help determine if the problem is related to a bad file in the user accounts.

Air Drop missing on iMac 20"

Hi guys, after I installed Lion on my MacPro, my wife did the same on her iMac 20". The problem is that she cannot see Air Drop like is showing on my MacPro.
What could be the cause?

Have you seen this at the bottom of the description for Lion in the App Store:
AirDrop is supported on the following Mac models: Macbook Pro (late 2008 or newer), MacBook Air (late 2010 or newer), MacBook (Late 2008 or newer), iMac (early 2009 or newer), Mac mini (mid 2010 or newer), Mac Pro (early 2009 with AirportExtreme card and mid 2010 or newer).

Air Drop Painfully Slow on MacBook Retina with 10.8.2

My Retina MacBook works pretty fine and wireless networking is stable - unless I try to send a file to my girlfriend's identical Mac via Air Drop. The actual transfer is painfully slow and all other connections such as loading webpages start to stutter as well.
The OS X firewall is switched off since I use Little Snitch 3 to check incoming traffic. But even when Little Snitch is switched off, the symptoms persist.
Any ideas what could be the problem?

Late late last night I solved the problem
I have both Adobe Acrobat X Pro and Adobe Reader X
I could neither update Reader nor install Reader X1.
On a hunch, I launched Acrobat Pro , was notified of update which I could not install,either.
Same error message about a changed environment as I had received when unable to update Reader .
Recalling I had similar Adobe issue one or more years ago, I UNINSTALLED Acrobat Pro and reinstalled from scratch
- I was then able to upgrade Acrobat Pro X
- I was able to install Reader Xl

Air drop not working

so the air drop from the bottom of the screen. It takes many times to bring it up. It I can try many times and it will not come up. but them it will. the top dropper works very well and quickly every time.

Air Drop

I have an iMac with an i7 processor (late 2012) and a Mac Book Air (Mid 2012) both running Yosemite and up to date. I can air drop files from the Air to the iMac but not the other way round - the Air isn't seen on the iMac (in Air drop)for some reason. Bluetooth is switched on on both machines. If I go into System Preferences - Bluetooth - on the Air (not do anything else just open the pane) lo and behold the icon appears and I can send the file. Its obviously something set wrong somewhere I guess but I don't know where. The system used to work fine until I upgraded to Yosemite. Its a niggling problem and one I can work round but it is annoying
Any ideas please

I seem to have found an answer deep in the pages of the Apple Support Communities which unfortunately the poor lass that I phoned at Apple hadn't heard of but its very simple - reset the PRAM on the machine that doesn't see its compatriot and Air Drop will work both ways - this worked for me anyway and I thought I would pass the tip on

So far it appears Microsoft's Outlook program is the only contact manager capable of "Forwarding" a Contact record that is all inclusive of all the data in the Contact including the Notes data.
While some may use the Notes field to store "secret or confidential" information...I've used it to store more mundane Notes that are not NOT confidential or sensitive in any way. Moreover....only want to "Share" (Microsoft calls it "Forward") with my own multiple devices. The "Notes" data might include a picture, another type of image, a map, a URL, etc. I and the rest of the MS Windows user world began building Contacts in Outlook so long ago it is not practical to switch to iOS-based personal info management software unless it allows complete conversions or "Sharing" as Apple calls it.
Microsoft figured this out years ago by allowing the user to choose whether to include Notes or not when "Forwarding" any individual Outlook Contact Record. It sounds like we need Microsoft Outlook for iOS like we have MS Outlook for MAC. With thousands of Contacts in MS Outlook 2010 I can't do without the Notes data in my files. And it isn't practical to use a syncing function when I only need 10-20% of my overall contacts on some of my iOS devices.

Trouble downloading PSE 12 to Mac Pro using Air Drop

I have downloaded the software to my Mac desktop and I was then trying to transfer it to my Mac Pro Laptop as I successfully did with PSE 11 a year ago with no problems. However, with PSE12 when I transfer it with Air Drop they both go into my DL folder but when I click to open it says my file is not there. Could someone please help me. I just bought this software yesterday at Costco.

It downoaded 3 folders, one is Adobe Elements 12 Organizer, one is Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 and one is Adobe Photo Elements 13
With the organizer and Elements 12 folder it tells me this "The alias "Adobe Elements 12 Organizer" can't be opened because the original item can't be found."
With Elements 13 folder it says "The operation can't be completed because the original item for "Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 can't be found."
It does not give me any singular "dmg file" as you referred to in your last post.

Why wont my Air Drop work?

I got this ipad air in february, and I love it. the only problem I seem to be having is my air drop will not work, my bf has the air as well and he can airdrop me all sorts of stuff when we are close to each other. However, when I select a picture, and choose to airdrop it.. nothing happens. No picture pops up (I can see my face on my bf ipad when he chooses me to air drop), both my bluetooth and wireless are on but yet it still refuses to let my use my air drop. Any ideas at all what could be happenining or am I doing something wrong?
