AIR iOS Video Object draw
Hi,
Maybe this is a stupid question.
I'm having some trouble tryng to draw a Video Object into a BitmapData in AIR (iOS), I always though that the security error exceptions were never applied to AIR.
I have a .flv inside a folder in the app, when I try to draw the video I get the classic Exception fault: SecurityError: Error #2123: Security sandbox violation: BitmapData.draw.
Any thoughts?
Luis
Okay, I've done more research, so I'll answer my own question.
Yes, it's definitely possible to play video from a server on iOS.
This page contains code that works:
http://www.overdigital.com/2012/01/14/720p-video-on-ipad-and-android-tablets-with-adobe-ai r/
That is, it works properly with the author's video, but not with mine.
At first I thought that it wasn't working at all with my video, but then I happened to change the iPad's orientation, and the video appeared.
This problem has also been noted here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5712904#5712904
It's interesting that the example video for the above article doesn't do this....
Could it be that I'm not encoding the video correctly?
I'm using the Adobe Media Encoder to encode the video.
The preset I'm using is:
Apple TV, iPad, iPhone 4 and newer - 720p 23.976
I'm choosing this based on the name of the file used by the above working example, which is "Hillman_720p23.976_2400kbps.mp4"
It seems to me that this would obviously be correct. I have a feeling that there's something really simple that I'm missing. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Douglas

Air for Android video object displays on orientation change
I have an Android app that plays a video using the normal video object, ie:
var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
nc.connect(null);
stream = new NetStream(nc);
stream.client = this ;
stream.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, statusHandlerx);
softwareVideo = new Video(640, 480);
softwareVideo.x = 0;
softwareVideo.y = 0;
addChild(softwareVideo);
When the video is playing if there is an orientation change, before the screen adjusts, you can see a full screen version of the video behind the 640x480 in the area of the screen that adjusted yet. So if the video is in portrait and the orientation is switched to landscape, in the right befow the stage adjusts to landcape you can see the right part of a fullscreen version of the video.
Also when I remove the video object you can still see the last frame of the video in that area.
HELP. Is this a bug?Hi,
Please log a bug at bugbase.adobe.com with a sample app(sources,swf,app-xml and assets) with which bug can be reproduced at our end. Also please mention the devices with OS version and the AIR build version on which bug is reproducible. A video demonstarting the bug would be really helpful for us.
Also please mention the bug number here on forum so that we can look into this issue.

HTML/Javascript positioning air.Video object
Hi all,
Simple question which has been doing my head in all weekend!
I have got a simple application that programmatically creates an Air Video object and attaches it to a camera as per
this.video = new air.Video( 320, 240 );
this.video.attachCamera( air.Camera.getCamera() );
I then want to embed that Video object into a specific location on the page (in the DOM). If I use the stage and addChild it just plonks it over the top of anything that's there already. Doing getElementById('container').innerHTML = this.video or similar does not work.
I very much think I am missing something fundamental here but no amount of googling seems to be able to find similar examples to what I am trying to do. All the examples I can find use statically defined HTML<object> tags with fixed urls.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
PhilCheck the Security.sandboxType value in the embedded SWF. It should be "localTrusted", in which case you should be able to access both local and remote resources.
There is a bug in AIR in resolving relative file paths in this scenario, that you might be running into. What happens is that Flash Player asks its container to resolve a relative file path. Normally, the container is a browser and returns the resolved path using a common URL scheme that Flash Player understands. However, AIR regards the SWF as being in the application sandbox and returns the resolved path with the app: URL scheme. Flash Player (which is acting just like the plug-in even in an AIR app), doesn't understand the app: scheme, so it doesn't know how to find the file. A workaround is to use absolute paths, which would probably require your JavaScript code to pass the absolute base path to the video player.
As to positioning the Video player, this would require creating a div (or other page element) of the same size as the video and tracking the position of this element on the page. Whenever the position changes, you move the video on the stage (by resetting the video x and y properties). I don't know how much lag in positioning you would run into when the user scrolls the page, especially if the video was playing...
A third option, of course, is to rethink the UI so that you have separate display areas for the HTML and the video. -
Using the native iOS video player?
I would like to learn more about using the iOS native video player in my Adobe Air app.
I understand that you can launch the native iOS video player by using StageWebView.
What are some of the limitations of using the native IOS player with this method?
Can I not limit the user's control of the playback controls so the user cannot fastforward thru an ad video?
Once the video is done, can I auto start to a new video?
When the user clicks the DONE/BACK button, can I close the StageWebView?
Are there other ways to launch the iOS native player instead of using StageWebView?
Is anyone creating a Native Extension for the iOS native video player?
If you were to create an app using native iOS code instead of Adobe AIR, what can you do with the native player that you can't control using Adobe Air?
thanks!
JackHi, Jack:
My answers are based on what I have done:
other than stageWebView, you can load native player from native UIWebview, and probably (I guess) directly open a video players.
If you do it from UIWebview, you can have the full access control of the video player, and interaction between Flex and Objective-c is also supported.
Regarding what we can do with the native player, I say we can do anything we want if it's loaded on the UIWebview.
Let's say 'pause', you can make your native player to be paused in the flex code, besides directly click the pause button. The simple workflow is:
Mapping 'pause' function to a objective-c function which triggers the native videoplayer pause function. One situation would be that you have HTML5 page only contains a video player, and java script functions to control the video (player pause, fullscreen etc).
Therefore, you can just call those javascript functions from objective-c.
You can also get information back from objective-c. Let's say you wanna do something after the video is finished, so the objective-c call javascript to listen end info of the video. then objective-c pass this information back to flex as an event. The Flex side catches this event and maps this event into Flex event for your use.
If there is a way to direcly invoke native player, those steps above will be much simpler, but I haven't tried. I am sure someone is doing that, hopefully they can answer you here.

Nice examples of Native Extensions. I am having an issue when trying to use a block in Objective-c Something as simple as

does not work and FlashBuilder reports the following error.

Have you tried using blocks in an iOS extension?

Is anybody else having their Adobe AIR iOS app crash within the first second of opening it?
Is anybody else having their Adobe AIR iOS app crash within the first second of opening it?
I am using iPhone 6, iOS 8.1.3, with a development certificate.
With Adobe AIR SDK 16.0.0.283 and now with 17.0.0.93, after compiling the app (whether in release mode or debug mode), before the app getTimer() can ever reach 999 milliseconds the app will crash. No matter what code I have, it is just crashing before the runtime can ever reach the first second.
Anybody else having this kind of behavior?Chris,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I have found the way to reproduce. It is about interfaces, and when I try to call a method through an interface the app crashes. I think that it is related to having an interface with many parameters. I have logged the bug here:
Bug#3935199 - iOS App crashes when calling an objects method through interface -
How do I use the skin for a video object in one of my slides?
I put an video object place holder in one of my question masters, and when I insert a video into the actual project slide, it will not play with a skin. I can set it up to play automatically, but when I add a skin to it, the functions of the skin won't work. Any suggestions?
RyanHi DonTimo,
I've tried doing that, but in the said folder there are only default pictures. I can't find the images of any contacts in the app "Contacts" anywhere. The thread you refered me to and many others that are smilar to it, date back to about 2009-2010.
Really need this photo. Any other pointers? -

Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
As from your description it seems that you are using version 8.1.0 for your remote desktop MAC. Here I can suggest you update to latest remote desktop version 8.1.3 and check the result.

Can you add a skin to the video object?
In as3, I've created my own video object to play an flv file. The code starts out something like this:
var myVideo:Video = new Video(320,240);
I would like to attach a .swf skin for it but cannot find any examples on how to do it. All examples are instructions for adding code to a instance of the FLVPlayback object.
My question is can you only attach skins to the FLVPlayback object?
ThanksTo save time, I wanted to use the pre-built skins that are used for the FLV components. I guess to use those skins you need to use the FLV class and if you wanted create your own buttons you would use the generic Video object.

cannot pair iPhone4 (iOS 7.1) with Macbook air (iOS 10 yosemite); they do see each other but will not connect via bluetooth
That is because they do not generally pair. What is it that you are trying to do by connecting them via Bluetooth? If you are referring to AirDrop or continuity, then all you need to do is have Bluetooth turned on, they do not pair.

Aspect ratio for a video object
How can you maintain a video objects aspect ratio? The
property maintainAspectRatio seems to work only with the
flvplayback component.Regardless of the display resolution, if your projector is displaying pixels in a slightly oblong fashion then its outside of the Mac's ability to compensate. The most the mac can do aspect ratio-wise, is to set a different number of pixels on the x and y axes, which would create a different screen aspect ratio, but wouldnt touch the pixel aspect ration. Perhaps the oblong pixels are the projector's way of stretching a too-narrow screen resolution to fit the area the projector is trying to cover. You should be able to change the output screen resolution to the projector in the displays system preference. Try several and see which one works best with the projector.

AS2 CS3: Video Player Class w/ NetStream Video Object
is it possible to use the properties of the videoPlayer class
with a video object that is not wrapped in a flvplayBack component.
I am having trouble using the maintainAspectRatio property with my
current video object. Additional question, If you use a flvPlayBack
component are you forced to use a skin for the controller or can
you use a controller that was built in the swf of the video
object?somethin

Reduce publishing time for Air iOS apps?
Hi,
Currently it's taking my machine up to 4 minutes to publish an Air iOS app.
Are there any settings or hacks I could try to reduce the time?
I'm using Flash CS 6 + AIR SDK 16 on a Windows 8.1 laptop.
Stats:
- Intel Pentium Prozessor (1,5 GHz, Intel HD Graphics, Microsoft Windows 8, 64-bit)
- 4 GB DDR3-RAM

Thanks for any tips.Hi,
I'm really interested in this feature as well. Have spent a bit of time attempting to get one running through a native extension but it doesn't appear to work. I believe something in the AIR build process is blocking the components required. I've tried several methods so far:
packaging the appex with an ANE
packaging the appex with the AIR container app
using a class instead of a storyboard
But nothing seems to be working. This is even before the app extension is doing anything. My guess is that the plist file specifying the app extension isn't correctly being included in the application but I have no idea how to update it to test. -
I cannot get my iPad air iOS 8.1.2 to talk to my epson wf 3640 which driver is 9.31. Both are on the same network so I am not sure why it is not working. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hi otterSD,
When it comes to using AirPrint and it is not seeing your printer, the check the troubleshooting below to get it sorted out. You have already made sure it is on the same wireless network, so check to make sure that the printer does not need attention with any errors and check Epson’s website if there is any firmware updates for the printer.

If you're unable to print
Check these things if you are unable to print, or if you see the message "No AirPrint Printers Found."
Make sure your printer has paper, and enough ink or toner installed.
Make sure your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your iOS device.
Make sure your printer has power and is turned on. Try turning your printer off and then back on again to see if it resolves your issue.
Check to see if your printer has any error lights or indicators displayed on the printer's control panel. Check the documentation that came with your printer to clear any errors displayed.
Check with your printer's manufacturer to see if any firmware updates are available for your printer. Check your printer's documentation or contact the printer vendor for more information. A firmware update may be available, even if you just bought your printer.
Take it easy,

IPad Air (IOS 7.1) stuck in "Sign in to iCloud" loop
iPad Air (IOS 7.1) continuously popping up the "Sign in to iCloud" window with an old Apple ID. When cancelling, it simply pops up again, immediately. And, because it is modal, I'm unable to get at Settings or anything else.
Unfortunately this started happening after the old WiFi modem/router died and before we could get logged into the replacement modem/router, so the device cannot see the network, at all, so cannot log into any iCloud accounts.
I have connected to iTunes and successfully updated from IOS 7.0.4 to 7.1, but even after the restart this behaviour continues. Unable to Reset or Restore the device as I am unable to turn off "Find My iPad".
Have tried the Home/Power hard reset to no avail, the pop-up continues to pop!
How do I get around/through/over/under or past this pop-up?
KyleHad to go back to factory settings, but that did the trick.
Probably wouldn't have been the problem it was, if it hadn't happened between WiFi connections. But without the network being available, it just went around in circles.
Thank you, very much!
