AIR on windows RT OS

Hi.
Very important for me to know if windows RT will run AIR as I have to buy 10 - 20 netbooks/laptops. I am actually looking at a LENOVO at only 300 euros which runs windows RT. So 6000 euros in the balance. I suppose the shop will let me try it before buying 6000 worth but I would love for you guys to let me know.

Error in installing Adobe AIR runtime (Windows)

I've been trying to install TeeBoard to be used with OBS, however, AIR will not install no matter what i do. I've followed all the help on the support page and none of it worked. It keeps saying i need administrator access even though i'm running it as an administrator. Additionally, every time i double click a .air extension to try and install the application it wont open up with the windows installer.

Error trying to Install Adobe Air on Windows 7

Trying to install Adobe Air on Windows 7. Error: Application descriptor could not be found for this application (301).

AIR isn't an application, but a runtime that other applications use. It's similar to Java. You don't run it directly, it's just something other applications need to have present so they can run. You won't see any reference to it in your Start menu, though it will appear in your Uninstall control panel. The applications that use AIR (like Tweetdeck, BBC iPlayer, etc) will have links in your program list.

Linked PDFs do not open in AIR help window

I am creating a help system in RoboHelp 10 and outputting it as AIR help. The help topics include links to several PDF documents, which are stored locally (they are not on a server or Web site). When I click any of the links in the AIR help window, however, the window goes blank; the content from the PDF does not appear. No other windows open, either. How can I get the content from the linked PDFs to appear in the AIR help window? Thanks!

Have you tried including the PDFs in Baggage Files?
I'm not sure that is necessary without testing but it's worth a try. Post back to let us know whether or not that works.

Adobe air on Windows phone 10 ?

Hi all,
Windows phone is more and more popular every day.
I still haven't bought a windows phone only because Adobe AIR is not supported on it.
Do we have any idea if Adobe will release adobe AIR on windows phone in the future ? (maybe with windows 10 ?)

That's a good point. I was wondering the same thing, since Windows 10 is the next big thing and it is coming to every Windows devices, it seems to me that it would be the perfect time for Adobe to jump in! Having access to the Windows mobile world make AIR the prime choice for developping mobile and desktop apps.

Is there a pratical size limit for an Air application window?

I'm brand new to creating Air applications. I started to design a utility in Flash CS4 for my own use. I had originally intended for it to be a simple SWF, but decided to make an Air app as an experiment, and to perhaps share it with others in the future.
Basically, the application allows the use to drag-resize a box to measure the pixel dimensions of an area onscreen (photo, Windows window, etc.) I wanted to allow it to be resized to any dimensions up to the size of the screen. The chrome is custom and mostly transparent with some alpha for the box to overlay on whatever you're measuring. However, I've run into a few problems, the primary one being that I cannot set the app to run maximized to the screen size and allow any graphics to extend beyond the dimensions of the stage in the source FLA (it all gets clipped at the edges of the stage). I decided to forget about this and just set a maximum size of the stage. So, what was originally a box that you could stretch out to any dimensions, can now only be resized to the upper limit I set (preferrably 1600px X 900px).
Annoyingly, I've found that any stage size in the source FLA beyond 1500px X 850px causes the Air app to respond very slowly. At sizes below that, the app responds very quickly, as if it were a windowed SWF. My question is, is there a practical upper limit to the size of an Air app window? I mean, if I have an Air app with a window size of 1500px X 850px that can be resized without any perceived lag, why does the window resizing slow down so dramatically by just increasing those dimensions by 1px?

These factors that determine the minimum and maximum width and height of a window:
The minimum and maximum operating system limits, which are the values of the systemMinSize and systemMaxSize properties of the NativeWindow object
The maximum width and height of a window in Adobe AIR, which are each 2880 pixels
The minimum width and height required by any displayed system chrome
The minSize and maxSize properties of the NativeWindow object
I cannot address the performance problems you are experiencing. I hope someone else can comment.

You need to provide a lot more detail as to what you did.
Were you setting up bootcamp?
Did you blindly install Windows without using bootcamp?
If you set up bootcamp, press and hold the option key when you hear the start up bong until the screen shows both operating systems.You can then select the one that you want.

What are Adobe's plans regarding AIR on Windows Phone?

Much ink has been spilled during the last years about different controversies regarding Flash on mobile devices and whether it has any future. Some it has while other maintain there isn't.
Can anyone point out any official information or other tidbits that would shed light on whether Adobe is interested in porting AIR to Windows Phone?

I can't speak much to Adobe's intent, but I believe I can speak to the
results of their actions. There is very little market for mobile AIR. In
fact, I get flat refusals, and often irritation for even having brought
it up when I just mention it. There is no future for Flash / AIR for
mobile apps, because Adobe hasn't marketed it that way.
It may be different for games, but I doubt it, since no one really know
what AIR is, and everyone "just knows" Flash doesn't work on mobiles.
Flash evangelists have been pretty much saying Flash is just for games,
but they've focused even in narrative mostly on leveraging their huge
desktop install base, rather than a traditional tech platform narrative
of expansion.
For myself, I wouldn't use Flash for client's mobile app, because Adobe
isn't promoting it's use that way, and as a result, it'll be an uphill
battle to convince anyone to buy that without Adobe's backing, and it'll
hard to find developers who are capable in that area, because they've
all moved on to other technology. There are other app platforms out
there with much more vibrant developer communities.
I'd also say that if they ever do decide to re-engage, Adobe may want to
take AIR, stage3d, and AVM3 and call it something completely different.
The Flash brand is pretty damaged at this point. Better to leave that in
the browser era, and move on.

AIR Spark Window bugs when layoutDirection="rtl". On Windows only, an empty window when created, didn't maximize or resize correctly. This class maintains its width/height in bounds rather than in the super class' _width and _height variables. Need to call setActualSize() whenever bounds is set so that the layoutWidth gets set correctly if this component is mirroring.
Fix an RTE in TitleWindow that I stumbled upon. Can not access the nativeWindow displayState if the window is closed.

[MB Air 2013] Windows 8 says I need a Boot Camp driver update, but download is unsupported

Hi all,
I'm on a brand new 2013 MB Air running Windows 8 64 bit with Boot Camp.
Windows is running fine, but I just recently noticed that I had a message telling me I had a driver missing and needed to update Boot Camp.
Now, this computer is less than 1 week old, so I checked my Boot Camp verison first and it does say that I'm running Boot Camp 5.
Just to compare the drivers, I downloaded the suggested update (from Apple, Boot Camp 5.0.5033) and put it on an extra USB drive.
When I compared the drivers, the new download did contain significantly more drivers for various hardware(most of which I don't have), so I tried to run it from the USB drive.
At that point I got the "Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model error".
I'm running Windows 8 64 bit, so I don't see why BCx64 is unsupported, and I'd really like to get the "driver update needed" message resolved.
Am I being directed to the wrong dowload? Do I even need this one?
Should I be running an update through OS X even though the message is coming from Windows 8?
Any ideas on how to proceed would be appreciated.

The actual answer is if you look at the download page at the bottom, you will see a link for supported devices. You will notice that the Macbook Air 2013 is NOT listed.
This upgrade does not apply for the newer MAcBook Air. The current driver set you have is correct. No upgrade is necessary. It is only for the older Macbook Airs.

The Macbook Air may be a bit underpowered for doing this, but apart from that, yes, you can set up a separate partition using 'Boot Camp' (included) and install Windows on that: or you can use either Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion to provide an environment in which you can run Windows while still booted into OSX. In all cases you will have to buy a copy of Windows.

you can now implement a standard windows installer (ie a native installer, rather than the AIR installer) when users install your AIR app. Not sure if there's an option to do this in flex/flash builder but it can be done via command line.
