Air Play drops some remotes.
My equipment is a 2010 iMac 27" quad core i7 running Snow Leopard, a 1tb time capsule connected to the mac via ethernet, and four Air Port Express units with firmware 7.6.1. Whether I am running iTunes using Air Play, or streaming with Airfoil, the stream to certain express units seems to drop out and come back in later. All units show steady green, and Air Port utility reports no problems, and iStumbler shows a steady 70%+ signal. When the dropouts happen, Airfoil will show those speakers as unavailable, and switching to iTunes will not allow me to access them either.
And often, when all Express units are streaming music properly, pulling up Air Port Utility will not show certain units, even though all are working properly. I am not picking up interference from other wireless systems, and do not use any other 2.4 ghz wireless systems in my house. Any ideas? The discussion threads I have found are several years old and apply to older operating systems.
I might add that this problem exists whether I use 5 GHz or 2.4GHz. If I quit either Airfoil or iTunes,( whichever I am using at the time ), I can get the dropped remotes back. I would think it had something to do with Air Play, as Airfoil picks up on whatever remotes I have enabled with Air Play.

I've been using Home Sharing since it came out. But last night after I had rented a TV show on my iMac Home sharing just wouldn't work from my AppleTV2.
I could see my Mac, select the TV show, but it wouldn't play. Network connectivity was fine. Then I went to my Mac and tried to stop and start HS. It wouldn't authenticate.
Was there a problem on Apple's end?

I keep seeing these cutely coined phrases such as Air Drop and Air Play but I can't find a full explanation as to what they are and how to use them. Can anyone direct me to a source where these are explained in detail?

On both a MacBook Pro, an Acer laptop and my Mac Tower. I would love to think that it is a problem with the playback system, and that if I merely send the file off to the duplicator they won't have the same problem. Maybe that is the case...I don't know if I have a choice rather than sending it off to see. But it happens in the same spots, in the same way, on all three of the players so I'm a little reluctant to have faith.

Of course, but in the case there is no more 'original project.' It is gone like the wind, stolen along with his computer and backups.
I think I am stuck using one of two files as my master: a DVD he burned where I only see the stutter/vibration/jitter once, or the mpeg2 file where I see it three times. Hopefully, the duplication house can rip if off of one of them and not see the jitter. I know that in audio, my personal filed, you can do a lot to enhance already existing sound--EQ, compression, tape saturation emulation software, etc. I guess I'm hoping there is some kind of analog to the video world that address jitter after a source has been printed--if indeed the source has been printed to be jittery.

Air Drop and Air Play incompatible
Cannot get air play on my phone and it insists on placing air drop where the icon for air play should be.
Air Play is on the same Wi-fi network and works still from my computer on the network I phone sometimes shares the airplay icon with the airdrop but sometimes it doesn't. right now it is not on my 5c or on my wife's 4s. we automatically updated to 7.1.2 and that's all she wrote.

I have apple tv software version 4.4.2 and still mirroring is not an option, You Tube will air play from my iPad 2 with iOS5 but HBO-GO will only stream the audio via airplay. Are airplay and mirroring still being worked on?
Make sure iPad is on wifi and on the same network as ATV. Try rebooting

Yesterday I tried to access my ZEP Air using Air Play from my iPad (3rd Gen), and neither the Zep Air or my Airport Express were shown. I checked that all software was up to date, and that all devices were on the same network, but no joy. I was however able to use Air Play through my iPhone5, which picked up all devices, and I was able to play music through my Zep Air.
I have now tried to use Air Play with Apple TV using both my iPad and Mac Air. When I select Apple TV on my iPad, and turn on the Apple TV, nothing happens, and I do not get the normal mirroring option. Using the Mac Air, I can switch on mirroring with the Apple TV, and see my screen on the TV, but again I cannot access the ZEP Air or see the Airport Express. My Apple TV device shows both the ZEP Air and Airport Express, and the Airport Utility shows all devices working correctly and software up to date.
I have Norton for Mac installed, and have just checked with a Norton technician - using remote access - that Norton isn't blocking any access through the firewall, and everything appears to be OK.
Interestingly, I called in to my local Apple Store (Sheffield UK) as I'm interested in an iPad Air 2, and I asked whether they were aware of any issues following OS X Yosemite and iOS 8. I took my iPad and it didn't show the Air Play icon at all in store, and the representative I saw, wasn't aware of any issues. Before I organise to see a 'genius' at the Sheffield store I wondered whether anyone has recently had experience of this problem? If so, is there a fix I can try?CORRECTION: Whenever I click on: "SEND" on my iPhone I DO hear the audio send prompt and I DO see the email listed in the "SENT" folder within the email program soooooooooo it appears to me that the emails ARE sent. I just do NOT receive them. I have even tried going into the SENT folder and opening an email and trying to forward it to myself WITHOUT any success.
Maybe this will shed some new light on the problem. -

I have a similar problem with this HG8245, but I can't even see the airplay icon in my iOS devices nor my MB Pro. However, I discover by accident that it works very well if I connect the ATV through the wifi interface (tested with my iPhone 4 and iPad 3Gen both w/iOS 6.0.1, and my MB Pro w/OS X 10.8.2). But as soon as I connect the ATV through the ethernet port, it disappears from all my devices.
So my guess is that there is some issue (i.e. undocumented filtering) between the wifi and the ethernet interfaces. I have reviewed the HG8245 configuration but I haven't found how to solve this. Have you figured out how to solve it? I will try to use some port scanner to see if there is some difference im using the wifi and the ethernet ports and will post the findings. -

Every other function works perfectly, and my Internet/router are working at top speed. I can watch HD Netflix and YouTube but nothing via my iTunes library on my MacBook or iPad. All software is updated. The AppleTV will recognize that Air Play is trying to do it's thing, but with music files it sounds like they're skipping and video files just load endlessly.
I'm searching for an answer to almost the same exact problem, using almost the same exact hardware and software. Has an answer been found?
The files that I'm trying to burn come from eMusic, and they are formatted mp3. Recently, (after the iTunes update to 9.2.3?,) they would not drag and drop from iTunes into Toast. From several different discussions I've tried working around this by dragging to the desktop first then dragging and dropping to Toast, going to Toast from a programmer's homemade help window, " iToons," and today, after talking with Apple support, going directly to Toast from my eMusic folder. Alas, all recordings do not perform like they use to. Sometimes they play and sometimes not. There is one I managed, that is listenable, but sometimes I have to put it in my car stereo over and over again as it gets ejected with an error code, sometimes, finally it takes it... Some of the recordings on other disks I've burned are not clean - they have white-noise sounds creeping in... I use to have none of these problems. One time as I was listening to a CD that managed to play, and it just stopped playing... Is there an answer out there to get back to how it use to be? Thanks for you help. -
Apple TV - Air Play - Home Sharing Problem
I have 2 ATVs. They are both the 3rd generation models. One is brand new and the other is about 1 year old. I also have a newer Macbook Pro and a 2013 Time Capsule. I like having my ATVs connected to my network via Ethernet because 1 - load times are faster and 2 - the year old ATV experiences Wi-Fi drops. Air Play or Home Sharing do not work at all while connected to Ethernet. As soon as I unplug them from the Ethernet the Airplay icon magically appears. This is frustrating because like I said one of my ATVs cuts in and out and I have to always hard reset it to get it to connect again. I have read tons of forums and spend countless hours changing settings on both my computer and router. Has anyone figured out a fix for this?
Not sure about the Wifi issue, obviously it shouldn't be happening..may want to look into your network setup.
For the remote, disable the IR receiver on your Macbook (System Pref - Security - disable remote control infrared receiver)
In regards to the last one, are you saying you can't rent content directly on ATV, not sure what the question was here?
