Air Port and Wireless Router

I have recently purchased a wireless router from netgear (model # wpn824) and I am unable to connect to it wirelessly. I can connect if I'm plugged directly into the router, but not using air port. Actually, I'm not able to open up my web browser (I get the message "server not found") even if my air port icon is on and it seems as if I'm actually connected to the network. There is another computer in my household (a PC) and usually it has no problem picking up the network and getting online. Help?

Ensure that the RangeMax feature is disabled on the Netgear. This is not part of the wireless standard and therefore not supported by Apple.
Ensure that the DHCP server is enabled on the Netgear.
Ensure that MAC address filtering is disabled on the Netgear.

  • Trouble with Qwest DSL and wireless router

Just got Qwest DSL yesterday. Connected the Actiontec M1000 modem directly to our IMac and things worked fine. Unfortunately, our office doesn't have a phone line and the permanent home of the modem is going to be elsewhere in the house. I tried to connect our D-Link wireless router WBR-2310 Rangebooster G to the Actiontec, phone jack--ethernet cable---actiontec---ethernet cable---d-link wan jack. Airport can "see" the wireless network we had setup before we switched to qwest dsl, but cannot connect to the internet.
I'm assuming there is communication problem between the dsl modem and wireless router.
How should my network settings be changed? Do I need to reconfigure the modem, or the wireless router, or both?

Now, I must say that the 3mbps download speed I'm apparently paying for has never been achieved. The fastest I got was 1.4mbps when hardwired. Now with the wireless I'm only around 750 kbps. I'm only twenty feet away and one wall from the router. Any suggestions on increasing this performance?
Very few sites can actually send you 3mb/s. You can test your connection here:
    http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/
    or here:
    http://speedtest.net/
If your speeds don't seem to be inline then you will have to deal with your broadband provider.
At 54mb/s your wireless is not the bottleneck, the internet is.
I'm getting 6mb DSL and it tests perfect, but I wanted the extra speed because I'm running 6 or 8 machines online at all times, and you usually get a faster upload speed with the deal. This can be very important for sharing files and sending emails with attachments, etc.

  • Turned off power strip to DVR Box and Wireless Router...now I don't have internet connection..

I went away this past weekend and turned off the power strip that my DVR box and wireless router are plugged into.  When I got home early this morning I powered them back on and  I did not have an internet connection anywhere in my home.  I restarted the router twice and still no connection.   My computer says that connection to my wireless is "very good" but I get  notice that computer "cannot display webpage" or "invalid web address".   I left for work and have not tried anything else to remedy this issue.  Ideas anyone?

Is your TV Service and Phone service if you have it working as it should? What does the router indicate as far as status lights go?

  • Cti port and cti route port on CUCM

I always confuse the meaning and usage of cti port and cti route port, can somebody explain to me? thanks.

when i got the explanation on this the 1st time this is what they told me:
the CTI route point is a virtual device that is always available and handles the call until the JTAPI app (UCC, CUE, 3rd party VM, etc)
this is where the call is answered, where it's put on hold, etc.
the purpose of the CTI route point is to have a DN that can take all the calls. The CTI RP also communicates with the JTAPI app to let it know that it got a call and asks what to do with it. the JTAPI app at some point tells the CTI RP to send it to a CTI port
the CTI Port is just like a phone line, it takes the RTP stream and is where all the interaction takes place, you enter your ID, information, password, etc.
it can only take one call at a time and the number of CTI Ports an app has registered equals the max number of call it can take at any given time

  • Mac air port and wrt54g

Trying to set up a secured setting between the wrt and my iBook air port to keep freeloaders off my wireless. Can it be done?

Yes, you can enable WPA under the wireless tab of the router. It should be compatible with your airport card. You just need to enter your shared key on your computer to connect.

  • Airport Time Capsule as Hard Drive and Wireless Router

    Hello,
My girlfriend and I want to buy Macbooks. A Macbook Pro 128 GB and a Macbook Air 128 GB. 128GB each is not enough for our needs and are also interested in buying an Airport Time Capsule with 2 TB rather than upgrading to 256GB/512GB, which is more money for less storage space.
My question is, can we use the Airport Time Capsule as a wireless router AND as a wireless hard drive?
Will I be able to keep the Time Capsule at home working as a wireless router for my girlfriend to surf the web and at the same, if I am at the library, as a wireless hard drive via internet so I can download the files i need?
If the network is down I would like to be able to use it via cable as a wired hard drive. Is that possible?
I searched for days for an answer but I could not find a definitive answer to my question.
    Thank you!
    Best regards,
    Liviu

My question is, can we use the Airport Time Capsule as a wireless router AND as a wireless hard drive?
Yes. The Time Capsule has a built-in hard drive and you can add additional USB hard drives (via a USB hub) to its USB port. All of these drives can be shared out and will appear in the Finder as network drives.
Will I be able to keep the Time Capsule at home working as a wireless router for my girlfriend to surf the web and at the same, if I am at the library, as a wireless hard drive via internet so I can download the files i need?
Yes, that is also possible. Please check out the following AirPort User tip for more details on how this can be set up.
If the network is down I would like to be able to use it via cable as a wired hard drive. Is that possible?
If you mean if the wireless network is down can you still access the Time Capsule's hard drive via an Ethernet connection, then the answer is yes.

  • Is an AppleTV and Wireless Router Needed for Mirroring Screen?

Is an AppleTV and a Wireless Router Needed for Mirroring from a desktop monitor to an HDTV?

    It is one way.
You can also use a mini Display Port to HDMI adapter, and an HDMI cable. A Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter works too.
You might be able to get away with an Apple TV and no WiFi router, if you use an Ethernet cable from the Mac to the Apple TV (never tried it, but it should work in theory).
You may even be able to use an adhoc network with an Apple TV and no WiFi router, but I think the setup would be annoying each time you wanted to mirror and you would give up internt access while the adhoc network was active.

  • Firewall and wireless router

I have searched everywhere and I can't find the awnser. How does my firewall setting in any computer on my wireless network effect what can go thru my router (wrt54g)?  Specifically, I have a wvc54gc camera that I can't connect to from outside of my network. All of the forums say that maybe my firewall settings are not letting me to connect to my camera. I am using dyndns and they say that everything on there end is working fine. I am confused because when my computer is shut down , there is no firewall anywhere.   Thanks in advanced.

Your camera connects directly to your router.   Any software firewall on any of the computers on your LAN will have no effect on the camera.
It is conceivable that firewall settings on the computer that is trying to connect to your camera from the Internet, might be blocking your camera's signal.  To test for this, simply disable the firewall in the computer that is trying to connect to your camera from the Internet (note: be sure to use a router when you do this).
To access your camera from a computer on the Internet, you will need to assign it a fixed LAN IP address, and a port, and you will need to forward that port to the camera.
The first thing that I noticed is that the default LAN IP address of the camera is 192.168.1.115.   This is very odd, because this is an illegal fixed LAN IP address on almost all Linksys routers.  Normally a fixed LAN IP address must be outside the DHCP server range.  In the camera setup pages, set the camera to use a fixed (static) LAN IP address (not a DHCP address), and set that address to 192.168.1.15.  (If camera setup asks, set "Subnet Mask" to 255.255.255.0 , and set "Default Gateway"  to 192.168.1.1 , and set "DNS server" to 192.168.1.1  (I assume that this is the address of your WRT54G)).   (Note:  If this still does not work, try setting the "DNS server" to your true Internet DNS address, which can be found in the WRT54G)
Next, you need to assign the camera a port.  This needs to be assigned both in the router and in the cameras setup pages.  I am uncertain as to what port to advise you to use.   However, in the router, use "Port Forwarding", and forward that port to the 192.168.1.15 address.  Also, in the camera setup pages, you will need to tell the camera that it is using that same port.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I use air print withoug wireless router?

Is there a way to set up the HP envy 110a for Air print without a wireless router? Perhaps through a website?  Lost.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hello f5trouble,
You cannot use AirPrint without being connected to a network.  If you do not have a wireless network, you can try connecting the printer and iOS device through an AdHoc connection.  To do this, turn on the wireless.  When you enable the wireless on the printer without connecting it to a network, it will start to broadcast its own network, ussualy called HPSETUP.  Next you need to connect the iOS device to the network the printer is broadcasting.  Once you have the iOS device and the printer connected via AdHoc, follow the normal steps to AirPrint and it should print.  I do not recomend setting up the printer and iOS device on an AdHoc connection, because it will automatically stop broadcasting after an hour, and you will have to reconnect them each time you want to use it.

  • WRT160NL blinking Ethernet ports and wireless LED

I have a 2-3 month old WRT160NL that has been working fine until 2-3 days ago I noticed that the Ethernet port thats connected to a computer and the wireless LED has started blinking rapidly.  Even after a power cycle that this blinking happens.  Router seems to function ok BUT by internet connect has slowed down specially the wireless part.  Any ideas?  I have a wireless printer that's connected to this router and I can not even ping it anymore. It never did this before and I have not changed any settings lately.  I have borrowed a friend's WRT160NL and no blinking on his router and provides me with a fast connection and my wireless printer works using his WRT160NL.
Any help is appreciated, else I'll probably return this router under warantee.
    Thank you.

thanks for the replies.  figured out the problem.  the router is secure.  for some reason the wireless connection between the wireless printer and the router has dropped low which made the router to send out "more packets or signals" to keep the connection going which explains the very constant blinking on the wireless light.  when i moved the printer a little closer the blinking stopped.  this probably would explain my "slower" internet connections specially with wireless.  i just fiddled around with the linksys antenna and things look ok.  im just currently trying to figure out how to "extend" that wireless reach from the router to the printer -- maybe a high gain antenna.
    thank you.

  • Conflict between ISP IP and wireless router

Hope I'm in the right place to ask this question.
I'm attempting to replace my current hardwired LAN router with an Asus wireless router. The problem is when the wireless router is enabled and connected, it assigns a dynamic IP address to the computer being used to access the Internet through my Verizon account. (UML290 wireless modem). Using the existing LAN all machines on the network have static IP addresses that work without a problem with respect to the UML290. But when the wireless router is enabled I can't connect to my POP3 mail or SMTP mail servers. Logon is denied by my mail service.
Is it possible to configure my home wireless router in such a way to avoid this conflict?
Each of the network computers are using USB PC adapters to access the wireless router.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

This is reference to a UML290 wireless modem, air card or whatever/however it's called. My 4G Internet service is over a wireless connection. I'm assuming Verizon assigns a dynamic IP at log on. It doesn't seem to matter if I log on to Verizon then enable my wireless router at which time it also assigns an IP address, or log on to my Verizon account while the wireless router is enabled. Either way my mail service will not recognize my computer.
    Thanks for the reply.

  • Remote and Wireless Router

    Hello All,
I installed remote on my iPhone yesterday, and today my wireless router doesn't work, it just seems not to work @ all. Probably just one those things but just want to throw it out there.

Use an ethernet cable and connect the ATV to your router. Download Apple Remote for the iPhone. You will be able to control your ATV this way. You can pair any infrared remote to your ATV once connected, following the directives from Setup > remote.

  • Problem with Dell Printer and Wireless Router

I have a new Linksys Wireless Router (3100) and it handles 3 laptops, PS3 fine.  But I have a Dell 715w network printer (also new).  I have it set up on the network, and it works fine upon setup.  The problem is the printer does not work all the time.  Sometimes I can get an error message, sometimes it says it is busy, and other times it literally takes a long time to load and then does not print.  I usually can get it to work again by rebooting and turning off the router and printer and laptops, but this hit or miss is very annoying and I never know when it will do this again, usually after a week or two. I wonder if the problem is that the 3 laptops all have different OS - XP, Vista and Windows 7.  Dell tech support won't help as they say they don't support routers, but I am wondering whether the problem is ina s etting or if this printer is malfunctioning.  any help would be appreciated

Yes. You have to key-in the IP address to the printer.
Basically, if the printer is set to obtain IP address from the router, it will be provided with a random IP or any IP available for the next device that will connect, on this issue, your printer. So there's no permanent IP address for the printer, making it a little hard to find at times. Compare it with the a static IP, your computer can easily map it since it doesn't change.

  • Connect to Airport Express and Wireless Router (Linksys) at the same time?

I have a laptop that connects to a Linksys wireless G (WRT54G) router. I just got an Airport Express to play iTunes wirelessly over my stereo. Is there a way to connect to both the Linksys router and the Airport at the same time - i.e., connect to the internet as I was over the wireless router AND send music wirelessly from my laptop to my stereo using the Airport Express at the same time?
