  • My Macbook Air will not print wirelessly!

My Macbook Air will not print wirelessly using the connection between it and my iMac which is connected via USB to my Canon Printer. The iMac and the Air are both using the same network and the printer is found on the Air... it sits at idle, but when I press "Print" on my Air it never actually prints. There is just a flash of the print icon on the Dock and then it is gone... I am left with no reason or error message. My colleagues are able to print wirelessly with no issue using their Macbook Pro and the same connected iMac. Can anyone help with this?

    Hi JDP86,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
If your printer is wireless-capable, you should first add the printer to your network. Use the printer's control panel, or temporarily connect the printer to your Mac via USB.

  • 6510 all in one photosmart printer - not printing black and/or not at all after 7/22/15 update....

Printer not printing in black at all, poor color print since 7/22/15. I have downloaded drivers and software, hard reset the printer (power cord out and unplugged then plugged all back in), read all the forums, watched youtube videos, called friends, googled answers, bought new ink (waste of money), cleaned print head multiple times, did every step on every forum post to no avail...  Bought a new printer but really would rather return it and get my money back after getting this printer up and running again- why because I think the problem is due to HP and the new update released 7/22/15! I'm very upset, I have spent countless hours attempting to fix this printer (which I really do love up until now).  I have lost credit on school assignments due to printing issues, wasted money on ink (that is really expensive) and wasted the ink trying to fix it running test page after test page.  I feel like this is not fair to the consumer and I am very upset.  I am ready to throw this thing in the street and smash it to pieces with a baseball bat at this point.  I really would rather fix it but apparently this is the only way to contact someone.  I have had this printer for 3 years and do not think I need to replace it or spend money to call someone from HP to fix it nor do I feel like I need to have it "serviced", nor do I wish to waste any futher time or money on the expensive ink this printer requires.

  • Printer not printing AND Matching Screen colors to Print colors.  Any advice is apreciated!!

Hello - I have 2 questions regarding  printing to an Epson and also regarding the monitor colors Not matching the print colors working from Photoshop CS4 on a Mac with a Maverick [ 10.9.3 ] OS. My issues are Not about my own printers or software.  I have been tutoring a friend via phone in Photoshop; he has CS4 and is working on Mac OS 10.9.3.
1- We found that he could print nearly fine [ nearly accurate colors ] from Lightroom on his computer, version 5.4.   But when he tries to print from Photoshop he cannot make a print.   There is clear communication between the computer and the printer, as, when he sent the file to print, the printer [ an Epson 3880 ] responded by automatically changing to Photo Black from Matte.  Then, it opens the rollers as if to print, but, it them stops and the menu [ on the Printer ] says 'Ready.'   The paper is 4x6” Moab Lasal paper 300gsm. This issue of Not printing is only with this Moab Lasal luster paper, for which he Does have the IIC profile, and we always make sure ‘Photoshop manages colors,’ not the printer. To address the issue of the printer Not printing at all using a non-Epson brand paper, we have tried seemingly everything from deleting and re-adding the printer from the Library / Printers, resetting everything [ printer   computer   software etc ], trying different settings in the Printer window and the Print Settings window. Including changing the media profile, platen gap, etc.
2- My other and more important question is – after we Do get a print, we cannot match the monitor color to the print. [ We havE been able to get a print using Epson brand paper.   Which is odd because we have the ICC profiles for both papers ]. To address the color matching issue, he has told me he calibrated the monitor with a Spyder, and here are a few other variables that I can relay that may or may not be affecting his color-issues:
He iS viewing his prints in a dayliglht-rated lighting environment
The monitor is an iMac glossy finish monitor, not an anti-glare
We tried working and printing from both an 8-bit and also a 16-bit color-space and also 16-bit printing
The color shift is slightly but noticeably toward Magenta.
    His printer is Not calibrated
Please let me know what else we can do, any known glitches that may be an issue with his older version of CS, any tips you can suggest.
    Thanks very much!

I don't have that printer and I'm not on Mac, so someone else has to step in there. Generally a green/magenta cast indicates none/double printer color management. But then I don't know what you mean by "slight".
The Spyders aren't the most consistent and reliable calibrators out there. I had a Spyder 3 sensor that I just threw away because it gave a distinct red cast (I have several other calibrators, so there was no doubt). Another potential problem is that with most calibrators you can only adjust the white point along the blue/yellow Kelvin scale, but not on the green/magenta scale. This is often necessary to get a good white point color. In this case you need to use the monitor's OSD controls, and if possible the "pre-calibration" function in the calibrator to measure and monitor it - if that function exists. And I don't know if this is possible with an iMac.
This is basically a question of getting the white point right, both on the blue/yellow and the green/magenta axis (and luminance of course). The goal is to get a visual match to paper white on screen. With the white point properly set, neutral color balance relates to that, and the rest more or less follows by itself. (In addition you should set the proper black point/contrast for full control, but that's not the issue here).

  • Firefox will only zoom text, not the entire page.

Hi. Recently I was using Youtube and ran into a bit of a problem. When ever I zoom the page it only zooms the text, not the entire page. Ive tested it on other pages like google.com and it workes fine and zooms the whole page. Also, when I use youtube.com. the page works perfectly, but I cant sign in because there are no cookies. Ive also tried uninstalling firefox and deleting the firefox folder but with no luck. This might be because I accidentally pressed CTRL and ? when I was typing as I ment to press shift.

Reload the webpage while bypassing the cache using '''one''' of the following steps:
*Hold down the ''Shift'' key and click the ''Reload'' button with a left click.
    OR
*Press ''Ctrl'' + ''F5'' or ''Ctrl'' + ''Shift'' + ''R'' (Windows and Linux)
    *Press ''Command'' + ''Shift'' + ''R'' (Mac)
Then try logging in ,it might solve the problem.
Let us know if this solves the issues you are having.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 - Macbook Pro and Macbook Air will not print

    Products:
    HP Officejet Pro 8600
Macbook Pro (Mac OS X, Version 10.7.5)
Macbook Air (OS X, Version 10.8.2)
    Question:
Why did my Macs initially print fine, but now will not print at all?
    Full Story:
I have a wireless network at my house that consisted of a 30mb cable internet, Netgear 900n, HP Officejet Pro 8600, 2 Dell Laptops with Windows 7, a Lenovo Laptop with Windows 7, and Dell Tower with Windows 7 - All printed just fine.
The HP Officejet 8600 was added to my network about 2 months ago.
I added a Macbook Pro and a Macbook Air about 3 weeks ago.  Both Macs printed just fine for about a week.  Then suddenly they stopped.  I spent about 2 hours on the phone with HP Service, and they finally said it must be my router.  So I called Netgear.  Netgear was useless!  They wanted me to agree to charges for services before they would even discuss the issue.
Due to information provided by HP's service support, and because Netgear will not support their product, I promptly purchased a new router - an Apple Airport Extreme.
The Macs recognize the printer, will print if hardwired via a USB cable, but will not print wirelessly to the Officejet Pro 8600.  The PCs print fine.
The frustration that is being felt is compound by the fact that the Macs printed just fine with the Officejet Pro 8600 2 weeks ago, and now the printer just shows "idle"... even with a new router. (see image below)
Please help, I appreciate any support.
As a side note, the HP Service rep was very friendly, and definitely tried to support the HP Product, which is much more than I can say about Netgear.
    Thank you,
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
More likely the issue related with Multicast, which Apple devices relies on to communicate with teh device through the network.
First try unplugging the router for 30 seconds.
Plug it back to the power and wait for 2-3 minutes.
Turn the HP printer Off and back On, then check for any difference.
If the same persists, try changing your router configuration as following
Note: the settings below are not related with the HP product, I provide you the steps as a best effor and those are only based on my own knowledge. you may try modifying the router settings at your own risk:
Open the router configuration page (can be found listed as the Default Gateway by clicking the Wireless icon on the printer, then print a network configuration report.
    Click the Advanced tab.
Click the Setup option from the menu, then click on WAN Setup.
Make sure to uncheck the box next to Disable IGMP Proxying and Apply the changes.
Click the LAN Setup on the same Setup menu.
Set the RIP Version as RIP-2 and Apply the changes.
Reboot your router and then check for any change.
I hope you may find that information useful, you may also use the user guide below for further information:

  • HP Photosmart 5520 printer not printing more than 4 pages at a time.

    Hi,
I have just purchased this printer - stoked about the duplex printing to save of paper etc. . . .
However it prints maximum of 4 pages (word, pdf etc) at a time.  Kind of pointless having a wireless printer where you have to sit by the printer anyway & have to reprint a document about a million time.  And then sometimes it will print up to page 3 only,  so wasting paper.  Sometimes the printing stops mid page.
I wont even begin to talk about how I have tried to print a photo,  3/4 of a 6*4 is the maximum that will print.
Am kind of thinking its a waste of a $160.....NOT HAPPY.
I have tried installing and reinstalling to no avail. . . what else can I try?

    Thanks for the advice,
I read through the document and NOT COMFORTABLE not having virus scanning software installed on my computer.
My two other printers work perfectly,  however,  lacking the wireless capability & duplexing and "printing from anywhere" I really want to move beyond them.
The only step I hadn't preformed was a system restore,  which I will attempt now.  However how do I ensure I have up to date firmware?  I only have recently installed the printer using the website as recommended by the printer. . .
I struggle to think of how the printer has capability to print from "anywhere"  it doesn't even tell you when connected that it fails at page x of x. . . . it just makes you think the whole thing is printed until you find on the printer it hasn't.
    Sigh!

  • Printer not printing across whole page

My printer is only printing across half a page. Like from the left to the right the color and black fades out and doesn't print at all. I have cleaned it 4-5 times. Taken out and put back all toner cartriges. All color cartriges are brand new. Bought them and put them in yesterday. Black is a couple weeks old. I had to take apart the machine to clean the mirrors today. Everything was put back exactly how it was taken out though. Anything I could try before I take it back apart again?

Did you use the instructions contained in the attachment below.  If you did recheck you work inside the laser/scanner assembly.  Also was this happening before you disassembled or was it just the magenta having issues and now all colors.  If it was only magenta before, then you probably do not have the laser/scanner assembly seated correctly in the slot.

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand that your HP Officejet 5740 is not printing web pages properly on Windows 7. I am happy to look into this printing issue for you!  What is the web browser that you are using to print with?  In the meantime, please try another browser such as Firefox or Google Chrome. In case the issue is with the current browser you are using.  I would also suggest our HP Print and Scan Doctor, in case of a possible driver conflict.  Hope to hear from you soon!  “Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.”

  • Printer not printing correct sizes of photos

Canon Pro9000 for some reason does not print photos correctly. I have made all the correct changes on the page setup and no matter what size I choose it prints only a small size photo. If I choose 11 X 14 it prints a photo 7 1/2 X 6. No matter what size paper I choose. It prints well in Easy-PhotoPrint but not in Lightroom 1.4.1 It worked fine before the driver update for Canon Pro9000
    System I'm using is:
    iMac 24"
2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    Printer Canon Pro9000
    Adobe Lightroom 1.4.1
    Thank You,
    Mike M.

Had the same problem with Lr 3 and Canon Pro9000.
Flicked the stroke on and off again - for no reason except someone said that worked. Then I used zoom to fit and it worked.
Which is stupid. I am so sick of having to be in problem solving mode all the d**m time.
Next I'll work on the Wacom driver which freezes in Lr3 from time to time - with a complete lack of consistency.
I wonder why software works so badly these days. Shareholders don't care?

  • Printer not printing completely

I purchased an HP2540 all in one printer yesterday, hooked it up to my Dell computer, running Windows Vista.  I did the complete set up, downloaded software, registered the printer online, etc.  Everything seemed to be okay until I tried to print the first document.  The page did not print completely. At approximately every inch part of a line  did not print correctly.  The printed line looked faint and only partially printed.  The document did this throughout.  Any solutions?

  • Okidata C3400n Printer Not Printing

I'm hoping there's an iMac user out there who is driving an Okidata C3400n color printer. These are fine printers and mine is less than a year old. -- I'm a brand new Mac user. My iMac 2.8 GHz/24" computer is about five days old. -- I succeeded in downloading (from Okidata) the correct driver for this computer & operating system. My Oki printer is connected to our Ethernet hub in the server closet (which is where the printer is also located). I installed the driver and the iMac recognized the printer, showed me supply levels and successfully ran the test print page. But, that's it. Not one application from which I've sent a page to the printer has printed. The print control window shows a document in the buffer. It even tells me the status is "printing." But, nothing ever prints.
I know I have the right IP address inserted so the iMac can "see" the printer on the network. Still, no joy. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks for your help.

    I'll reply.
Love the printer! Works very well on my PC. Slowly moving toward Macs by starting with a MacBook. I, too, installed the Intel driver (10.2x) and it worked (printed), but didn't include the driver options I had on the PC. Lived with this for five months until now. I realized there is a another driver (10.5) which has a March 2008 date.
I have installed and added the printer, but there is zero difference between the drivers. Could the old one still be affecting my selecting of the printer? Does this OS now have both versions installed? I couldn't find where the printer drivers are installed in order to ensure the "wrong" version is gone. I did delete the original printer from the Print and Fax dialog before attempting to add the "new" one.
I just really expected to see a difference, which included the printer options that were missing.
