Air refusing to install
Hey everyone,
This had all started about a week or so ago when i had tried
to install UniversalCallerID on my mac, and was given the error
that "Installing may not be allowed by your administrator. Please
contact your administrator." I assumed it had something to do with
transferring my user account onto another computer, and then back
onto this one. So I had verified disk permissions, repaired them,
and uninstalled Air, but that had only made my problems worse
because now I get the same error message when trying to install
Air. Ive googled around for solutions, but nothing seems to be
working for me. Here is the log file,

I've found out 2 things:
o) Installing & Uninstalling using sudo/command-line does
the job.
o) The following line from the Known Issues & Limitations
section of the 'Release notes for Adobe AIR developers' (2/24/2009
http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/air/1_5_1/releasenotes_developers.html#sdk)
says :
"AIR application might not work correctly when the language
is Español Latinoamérica
If the operating system's language setting is Español
Latinoamérica (Latin American Spanish), AIR application might
not work correctly. Please remove it from your language list and
use Español (Spanish) instead."
That was exactly my case.
Sad that the release notes is only in english ...

Adobe Air refuses to install OS X 10.6
I've been trying for the past hour or so to find a way to install Adobe AIR on my MacBook Pro. As it begins to install, it gives me an error stating that "An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
Thing is, I am the administrator as this is the only account on my laptop.
I've tried looking for answers in previous discussions, but they were all unable to fix this issue. There is no uninstaller in the /applications/utilities directory (probably because AIR was never installed in the first place?), so I'm unsure of what to do next...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Can you provide the contents of your log file? You can locate it using the following steps:
Open the console application (/Applications/Utilities/Console).
Choose system.log from the Log List.

Server Tools refuses to install on my 13" Macbook Air 2010
This is very weird: Server Tools refuses to install on my Macbook Air. The message that I get:
"Server Administration Tools can't be installed on this disk. You can only install the Server Admin Tools on a computer running Mac OS X System version 10.5.6 or higher."
The problem: I am running Mac OS X 10.5.6 on my MacBook Air... Reinstalled the Combo-update just to be sure. No change.
Does anyone have any idea?You say you run : "MacBook Air ... Mac OS X (10.6.5)"
You can't install 10.5.x (Leopard) ServerAdmin Tools on a 10.6.x machine. -
Adobe AIR mysteriously disappeared off of Alienware Windows 7 PC, now refuses to install whatsoever
Regardless of what version I try to install on my machine, Adobe AIR doesn't install. The installation process finishes, sometimes saying that the program may not have installed correctly (which I then reinstall with recommended settings) yet the application is nowhere to be found in any of my program file folders, nor my common file folders. I've tried the Microsoft Fix It tool, as well as many others, I've tried creating different accounts, I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, restarting, shutting down, editing my registry, I've tried altering permissions, I've tried .msi fixes, everything. I just want to use the new Bamboo Drawing Tablet that I bought, and I can't use my Bamboo Dock applications without Adobe AIR. I've looked at my logs of installation, and I'll post them here. I'm really frustrated at this point, so if I can get a solution, I'd be very grateful.

Based on teh logs, all your connections bounce because of a wrong proxy configuration. The simplest way to fix it would probably be to delet your current network and let Windows auto-configure a new one, which you should do with your security tools on, so Windows can figure out things.

My wife has a MacBook Air that is currently running Lion. However, it's original 80 Gig 4800 rpm hard drive was replaced with a SSD from OWC. It's performance with Lion is acceptable.
If your MacBook Air had the optional SSD, you may also find that the Lion performance will be acceptable.
You should make an external hard drive backup before uprading. You could also do a trial install of Lion on the external beforehand.

It is true that older software written for the PowerPC platform will not run in Lion, as Rosetta is not available. However, there are increasingly newer versions of software that won't run in Snow Leopard. See: http://roaringapps.com/apps?index=a -
How to auto update AIR runtime when installing with native installer?
Hi, we recently changed our app to a native installer for both Windows and OS X.
It seemed that when we distributed a .air file the install process would upgrade the installed version of the AIR runtime (if necessary) before installing our application.
Now it seems that if AIR is installed with an old version (say 2.5) and the native installer app is installed (requiring AIR 3.0) an error message appears that says "Sorry, an error has occurred. The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author".
My question is how can we have our native installer bring the user's version of the AIR runtime to the minimum required (3.0) or the latest version (3.6)?
The error message displayed to the user does not provide meaningful info.

The "installer damaged" error message is happening on the first install of our application with older version of the AIR runtime. The app is using the nativeapplicatoinupdater ( http://code.google.com/p/nativeapplicationupdater/ ) project for updates (which is working great once the app is installed).
I performed a few tests on OS X (10.8.2) this evening and here are my results.
AIR 1.5: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 is shown. INSTALL OK
AIR 2.04.: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 IS NOT shown. INSTALL FAILS
AIR 2.5.: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 IS NOT shown. INSTALL FAILS
AIR 2.6: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 is shown. INSTALL OK
AIR 2.7: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 is shown. APP INSTALL OK
So it seems the problem is with AIR 2.04 and 2.5. I uninstalled and reinstalled the AIR runtime for each test. I can consistently reproduce the failed install with 2.04 and 2.5. The same DMG file was used in each test. I have seen similar error messages on Windows 7 when AIR 2.5 was installed, though I didn't get a chance to look at the log to confirm it's the same migration error.
The failed installs seem to drop out because of: "failed while validating native package: Error: invalid migration signature".
Tomorrow I can create a version without the migration certificate to see if it can be successfully installed on 2.04 and 2.5. It's "interesting" that the other versions of the runtime do not fail on this condition.

I am trying to install iphoto 09 on my new MacBook Air and the install button is grayed out. Both for installation and custom install. Is there a problem that I am not aware of?
Check for receipts
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List. -
updated my mac to mountain lion 10.7.8.3 and now my app store, mail or facetime won't open. Also, I am not longer able to play videos through firefox. I tried downloading the combo for mountain lion and it refuses to install saying that I need to see developer. Whenever I try to open my appstore, mail or facetime it says that the programmes need to be installed and might not be compatible with this version of mac operating system. Can anyone help me?
It's not a bad install of Mountain Lion. I've had the same thing happen to me, but it affected not only Mail, but a variety of other programs including iPhoto and MS Office, where I had to delete preferences, caches, and reinstall the OS as well as the program itself. I'm still having issues with Mail, so I've gone to another program.
Everything was fine upon the initial install. I restarted my iMac about two weeks after the install, and that's when the issues began to happen. I've reinstalled Mountain Lion twice, but the same issues arise.
As I mentioned above, you'll need to figure out which preferences are causing the issue, then reinstall the program, as a fresh reinstallation will do you no good unless you wipe the drive completely.

XPpro with 2.4ghz cpu, 2 gig ram, 2 much harddrive, single-user desktop, and I am the registered administrator.
Problem is Adobe AIR will NOT install.
I downloaded Adobe AIR installer and ran in normal way.
Adobe AIR attempts to install and then craps out with a message, "Sorry, an error has occured."
The error reported is error=0.
There are no logs, because there are no Adobe AIR common files in the Program directory.
Adobe AIR does NOT appear on the list of installed programs in Control Panel.
Have searched the registry and removed all references to AIR, and then tried to reinstall, with same result.
Another time, the error message said I was not the administrator, but control panel says I am, and I am the only user.
Any HELP solving this critical problem would be keenly appreciated, and thank you.Sorry forgot to add system info:

HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4625e Refuses to Install
My printer is an HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4625e (4620 series). Firmware Version: CAP1FN1451AR
First, this is what I can do with the printer:
Print internal ‘Test’ pages and reports.
Print documents in all applications from a wireless, networked laptop.
Print documents using ePrint.
My computer is an HP Omni All-in-one Running Windows 7 Home Premium X64
The issue is I am unable to (re)install the printer on the HP Omni using either ‘Add Printer’, HP downloads or the installation disk.
Hoping for a definitive solution.
Background: Just over a week ago I upgraded from Office Pro 2010 to Office Pro 2013. When I went to print I noticed the dfautl print was showing as One Note 2013. I selected the HP printer then hit print. I got an error message: Word Cannot Print this Document. There is no printer installed.
I tried to print using NotePad and an Adobe document (thinking it may have been Word related only). This did not work. I could print from any application using the Desktop. But, as noted, I can do so from the networked laptop.
On opening the Printers folder OneNote was set as the default. I changed the default to the HP printer. No luck. I was told it was not installed.
I ran Malwarebytes Premium and Microsoft Security Essentials to check for possible incursions. None.
I then tried System Restore. No change.
I then tried to repair the print program. No change.
I then uninstalled Office 2013. No Change.
I then tried the “Add Printer” function. No Luck. I was informed: “Unable to install printer. Some files are missing or incorrect. Reinstall the driver or try using the latest version.” (Screenshot 1)
I then tried to reinstall the printer. First as a straight reinstall then second after doing a complete uninstall using Revo Professional Uninstaller and an Advanced Scan.
This did not work, yet the printer is recognised as being on the wireless network during the reinstall process (Screenshot 2).
This is what I Cannot do: (Note: during any install attempt I disable both Malware Byes and Windows Security Essentials. I have also attempted installs with the Firewall turned OFF.)
Cannot reinstall on the system. It refuses to allow a wireless network installation even though it shows on the install screen (Screenshot 2).
If using ‘Add Printer, it says files missing or incorrect (Screenshot 1).
If installed using HP Download, I am able to input IP Address but it does not show the copmupter name. It says either. “Computer’s Network Name: Retrieving’ OR ‘Computer’s Network Name: Unable to Retrieve’ (Screenshot 3 & Screenshot 4 respectively).
When install fails, I get the screen asking to search for a solution (Screenshot 5) which then gives me instructions re a download ‘Helper Application’ (Screenshot 6).
After attempting to follow those instructions, the downloaded ‘solution’ does not work (Screenshot 7).
Instead of trying to install over the wireless network I have tried using the USB Install process. The printer then only installs as a ‘Fax’ Printer. On checking the Device Mager – Show Hidden Devices – it shows a ‘Multifunction Device’ with a yellow exclamation mark (!) next to the driver. On checking, it says I need to reinstall the driver.
Any attempt to convert the USB connection (even though it only installs as a fax printer) to a wireless connection fails.Hi @jindo53,

Tips to avoid wireless connection issues
The following tips can help prevent wireless connection issues. You might need to experiment with each of these tips to secure a successful wireless connection.
Move the product, the computer, and the access point (router) closer together.
Remove any metal objects that are between the product, the computer, and the access point (router). Objects such as refrigerators or metal bookcases can interfere with a wireless transmission.
Move any device that emits radio signals farther away from the HP product. Devices such as microwaves and cordless telephones can interfere with wireless transmission.
Accept or allow any firewall pop-up messages that display during the software installation.
If you connect to a virtual private network (VPN), temporarily disconnect from the VPN during the HP software installation (see your VPN software for further details).
If you have MAC address filtering enabled on your router, you will need to add the HP product's MAC address to the address filter list. You can find the MAC address on the Network Configuration Page. Follow instructions for your router to add the address.
If that does not help, please try the following:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Disable any Antivirus programs. Disable Antivirus software.
Disable any firewall programs. Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
Create a new user account. Managing User Accounts and Logins (Windows 7).
Reinstall using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.
If still unsuccessful, proceed to back up your files, and reinstall Windows 7.

I was having this same exact issue, and I actually referred to your post hoping for a fix (that I obviously did not find), however, I did discover a work around!!! I use "Adobe AIR" for my "Pandora One Desktop Application", but every time I opened the installer for "Pandora One" it gave me the same exact error. Here is what I did to fix it (Hoping it helps y'all too):
BEFORE starting ensure that the "AIR Program" that you want to install is downloaded and located in your "Downloads" folder
Uninstall "Adobe AIR" using the included uninstaller (Navigate to your "Utilities" folder in a "New Finder Window" in order to find this, once you're there you can't miss it)
Delete all previous "Adobe AIR" downloads
Download a new "Adobe AIR" Installer from "Adobe" (Sounds redundant I know, but bear with me)
Install "Adobe AIR" using the most recent download
VERY IMPORTANT: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO INSTALL THE "AIR PROGRAM" YET
Once the "Adobe AIR" Installation is complete navigate to "File" and select "New Finder Window"
Once there select the "Applications" folder from the menu bar on the left of the window (Should be under "Favorites")
Navigate to your "Utilities" Folder (Again)
Locate the icon for "Adobe AIR Application Installer" and open it; This will open a new window
Once the new window is open, navigate to your "Downloads" folder and locate the "AIR Program" that you want to install select the "AIR Program" and click "Open" (Bottom right hand corner)
TaDa!!!
Following those steps should culminate in the initialization of the install process for the program that you weren't able to install before, and from there it is business as usual (selecting and answering to the necessary install prompts for the "AIR Program"). It seems like there is a glitch somewhere between "Yosemite" and "Adobe AIR" that prevents the "Adobe AIR Application Installer" from auto-running properly when you try to open the sub-program. However, initializing the "Adobe AIR Application Installer" FIRST allows it to get up and running before the sub-program communicates with it. This fixed it for me right away, please let me know whether it works for your specific "Adobe AIR"/"AIR Program" set, if not I will download your "AIR Program" and see if I can't find another way. Also, has anyone contacted either Adobe Support or Apple Support directly with this yet??

Air 2.7 install fails on OSX 10.7
I've tried this three or four times now, and I get error 2038 every single time. I have to say, some more information about what error occurred would go a long way towards making this easier to track down.
I have:
Removed air with the dmg -uninstall option.
Removed air manually.
Created and checked permissions on ~/Library/Frameworks
Tried to decipher where it's gone wrong. Here's my console log -- What's going on?

1. Mount the AdobeAIR.dmg file
2. Open the Terminal application
3. Type (or copy/paste) the following:
cd /Volumes/Adobe\ AIR/Adobe\ AIR\ Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/ sudo ./Adobe\ AIR\ Installer
4. It should then ask for your password inside the terminal window -

"Sorry, an error has occurred.
An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
Well, I asked myself and verified that I am allowed to install any programs I wish to at will.
I even toyed with adding extra permissions for the .exe and shortcut [see below], to no avail.
I also checked your Adobe AIR installation troubleshooter section before posting. Unfortunately, none of the solutions 100% applied to my circumstances or OS, yet I tried a few anyway and had it confirmed by a Windows dialogue that I need not have bothered as it assured me that they weren't applicable in my case.
I found another thread like mine where somebody suggested creating a shortcut with an additional -uninstall parameter added to the .exe path. It didn't work.
I used Microsoft's Installation Cleanup Utility and that didn't work to "un-confuse" the installer either.
Do you have any more suggestions?
Adobe AIR came with the HTC Sync program for my phone, which appears to have dependencies on it where it won't completely work without it.

I created a new thread because I couldn't find the "reply" button on a similarly unresolved thread regarding Adobe AIR installation issues on Windows 7.I would like to say thanks to artrose54 and to playswithtech for their thoughtful responses to my problem. I finally figured out which number I was to delete, and then, having made a copy of the number in notepad, deleted it. Upon a restart to my computer I then was able to download adobe air 2.7. I found that I still could not download the shutterfly express uploader, however; so I applied the same approach. I went looking for the number in the registry that corresponded to the uploader. I deleted it; restarted the computer; returned to shutterfly; and then was able to download the express uploader. I am sure I will find other uses for Adobe Air in the future.

Here is the fix that worked for me,
You need to go to start run and type in regedit
now press ctrl+f for find and type in "adobe air" without the quotes then click find next
the first entry it finds is the one I deleted, it is a long number on left side of screen that is greyed just right click and delete it
I then rebooted the computer and ran adobe air installation
and it worked with out a problem
The adobe air log file really doesn't tell u anything but where it tried to find the setup.msi file
but it doesn't exist because of the registry entry that needs to be deleted which is what causes the error
If u r not sure of editing the registry then maybe you know someone that can help you
