AIR-SAP1552I-A-K9 to lightweight

Hi,
I have a AIR-SAP1552I-A-K9 and want to upgrade it to a lightweight AP. We're running 7.2.111.3 on our WLC which should work according to Cisco documentation. I downloaded c1520-k9w8-tar.152-2.JB.tar from Cisco homepage which was under their "ligthweight" image. Usually there's a rcv int the name but couldn't find an image containing that for the AP. The other image there for autonomous was c1520-k9w7-tar.152-2.JB (only the w7 and w8 is the difference in the name). The command archive download-sw /overwrite /imageonly /tft://2.2.2.2/c1520-k9w8-tar.152-2.JB.tar was run (2.2.2.2 has of course been replaced from the real tftp server). After reboot of AP there's no information, no cdp, no mac address on the port nothing. Anyone who can fill me in on what might have happened here or what the correct procedure should be for upgrading a 1552 AP from autonomous to lightweight should be? I don't have console access to the AP that failed, but there are a few more APs of the same model which needs to be moved from autonomous to lightweight.
Thanks in advance.
//Peter

Hi, consider there's a small puddle of water called the atlantic between me and the AP console is a bit of a problem . Before reboot of the AP I of course had SSH access to the AP.
Are all 1552 APs considered mesh AP so I have to add the MAC address to the WLC? Or does it somehow depends autunomous configuration?

  • Converting AIR-AP1231G-A-K9 to lightweight mode

    Hi Everyone,
I have an issue with Cisco AP AIR-AP1231G-A-K9 after converted to Lightweight mode. I am using WLC 2106 with version code of 7.0.98.0 but after successfull conversion from autonomous mode to lightweight mode the, the AP is not getting associated to WLC. It shows up for a one or two seconds under WLC and then again disappers. This AP has raido AIR-MP31G which i think is supported for converting it to lightweight mode.
Please see below the log of the upgrade utility after convertign to lightweight mode.

  • Wireless lightweight Conversion AIR SAP 1602

Hi, we have serveral AIR-SAP1602I-E-K9 access points which are currently working in standalone mode, we now have a 2504 Wireless LAN controller so is it possible to convert the AIR-SAP1602I-E-K9  to lightweight mode?

Yes you can. Make sure you have atleast 7.4.100.0 version on WLC to support 1602 AP.
    1. For the LWAP conversion, use the recovery image. First download the rcvk9w8 software from this link.
    2. Next you copy the IOS from your TFTP server to your AP.
    3. The command, must be entered on the AP, is:  archive download-sw /over tftp:///<image name>
    check these procedure:

  • AIR-SAP1602I After convert to LAP, No radio interface

    Hello,
Our AIR-SAP1602I is running ap1g2-k9w7-tar.152-4.JB6.tar and working normally.
Now, we covert AIR-SAP1602I from autonomous to lightweight which is running ap1g2-rcvk9w8-tar.152-4.JB6.tar to join C3850. (It will be joined then not-joined repeatedly)
After converting, we compare AIR-SAP1602I to another AIR-CAP1602I (It's working perfect with C3850 at this present) and find something strange via "show version" and "show capwap client rcb"
Can someone tell us how to solve this problems, thanks !!!

Can you test this with using full lightweight image (ap1g2-k9w8-tar.152-4.JB6.tar)  or different recovery image (ap1g2-rcvk9w8-tar.152-4.JB5.tar). to see the problem is persistent.

  • Which is a better choice for me? A Macbook Air 11" or 13"?

Hello!  I am soon to be a college student and I am debating whether to invest in an 11" or 13" Macbook Air.  I've decided that I wanted a Macbook Air because I want a lightweight portable laptop with long battery life.  But which size?  Through some YouTube reviews I've heard a lot of things, I heard that the 11" is better than the 13" just because everything is smaller and more portable, the screen saturation makes it looks better than the 13" and just the freedom to carry it around and hold it under one hand is the ideal college laptop.  But I also heard that it's horrible for holding memory and RAM (which I am completely ignorant about.. and quite frankly not too anxious to get educated to), so the Macbook Air 11" is an excellent SECONDARY laptop. Which freaks me out because I was actually leaning towards the 11" rather than the 13"
I don't play any games, nor do I video edit much.  I just want a laptop that can hold all of my pictures, hold documents for school purposes, and play Spotify while I do my work.  I don't really care about the Retina Display, only because I didn't spoil my self with it.  But that being said, whatever Air I'm going to buy, it will become my one and ONLY laptop and it will serve as a PRIMARY one.  Given I don't do the complicating video editing (unless it's a college assignment), or gaming with it, which laptop do you think is right for me?
    Thanks for reading everything!
Should I still be safe and just get the 13"?
    Please put your input!

Forget everything you think you know. The MacBook Air, 11" or 13", is a very powerful computer that can be the sole computer for anyone who doesn't require extremely powerful graphics. (This is because these computers use Intel integrated video rather than discrete video cards which Apple puts only in its top 'Pro' computers.) For most college students the Air is a perfect computer and if you configure an 11" and a 13" MBA with the same amount of memory, same size SSD, and same processor the only difference between them is the size - which, by the way, will also give the 13" a slightly better battery life because its battery is larger.
The 11" has a 128GB drive and cannot be upgraded which for some people makes it a tight fit for some but roomy for others. I'd have difficulty making it my only computer but my wife probably could. This is one of three advantages the 13" model offers (to me). The second is the longer battery life. The third is that I found the 11" model to be too cramped. The keyboard is the same size as the 13" but somehow I felt terribly cramped and the screen was too small. That's why I walked in thinking I'd get an 11" and walked out with the 13" MBA. I'd strongly recommend 8GB whichever model you choose.

  • Iphoto librairy : masters and previews

    Hi there !
I'm French so please excuse me if i make mistakes....
I have a question in relation with this link
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3161569?start=0&tstart=0
I tried to write a question to Terence Devlin but i did not manage...
So I ask my question to everybody !
I did understand that pictures that are in "masters" AND in "previews" comes from a matter of rotation of the picture.
But, WHY, when I watch the picture from "masters", this picture has the same orientation as the one in "previews" ?
Other question : if I turn off the Auto-Rotate feature on my camera, i will have to rotate my pictures myself in iphoto, so it will create another picture in preview. Am I right ?
How can i do to stop having those pictures twice ?
Thanks a lot to everybody !

but having twice the same picture is useless, don't you think ?
Not necessarily.  It's the nature of  having cameras that autorotate photos for you. That's why I rotate photos before importing into iPhoto. If you take an overwhelming amount of portrait oriented photos then you would be better off following the workflow I posted earlier in order to save space.  Otherwise I don't think it would make much difference.  The MacBook Air is designed as a lightweight traveling device and often is used in conjunction with a desktop Mac at home. With that type of setup I would have my primary library on the desktop Mac and a smaller traveling library on the Air.  I would use the paid version of   iPhoto Library Manager to transfer necessary photos via albums or events between the libraries as needed. The Air just isn't designed to handle the large libraries due to its limited storage capability.  But that's just my philosophy.
If you edit a "normal" landscape photos you will automatically get a copy because iPhoto keeps the original/master file as its digital negative like all DAM (digital asset management) applications.  There are high end DAM apps that you can edit and save the edited version over the original file if so desired.   Media Pro 1 is one of them.  I use it for may primary DAM work and iPhoto for special projects like books (a separate library for each book), cards, calendars, etc.

  • AP Problem - 1130AG/1131AG Red-Orange-Green Cycle

    Hi
I've got a Cisco Aironet 1131AG AP and I am getting the Red-Orange-Green cycle of lights on the front. I have a feeling this might be to do with bad flash of some sort.
I have a DB9 -> RJ45 cable and I'm able to connect to the AP using PuTTY. The AP gets an IP by DHCP but the web interface isn't accessible. It is on a basic home network without any forms of servers.
Is there any way I can fix this problem?
    Regards
    Anthony

Does the product number on the access point start with AIR-AP or AIR-LAP? I believe that you have an AIR-LAP that is a lightweight access point meant to be used together with a wireless controller. If this is the case and you want to use it as an autonomous access point without any wireless controller, then you must change software on this access point.
The URL leolahoo provided to you have the procedure on how to change software on your access point. Before you start you need a TFTP server and software for your access point which must be renamed to c1130-k9w7-tar.default
Using a TFTP Server to Return to a Previous Release:

  • AIR-RM1252G-E-K9 changing from lightweight to autonomous?

    Hi Everyone
I have a AIR-RM1252G-E-K9 access point which is in lightweight mode but need to change it to autonomous mode. After doing a bit of googling i understand its as simple as tftp'ing over an autonomous image.  Ive found a link below which states that i need version 12.3 or earlier:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/lwapp/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html#wp161272
However i can only find images for this access point starting from 12.4.
Can anyone just clear things up for me and perhaps point me in the right direction?
    thanks

I downloaded the image c1250-k9w7-tar.124-21a.JA1.tar. I want to enable DHCP but i cant do this. Can anyone help me out with this?
Hmmmm ... It's either I don't understand what is your problem or something else.  For starters, 12.4(21a)JA1 supports the AP being a simple DHCP server:
    WAP(config)#ip dhcp pool ?
    WORD  Pool name
Next, you said you've "downloaded" the IOS.  Can you post the output of "sh version" please?

  • Is Cisco air-ap1230a a lightweight access point?

Is Cisco air-ap1230a a lightweight access point? Can it be use for the new CCNP training?
    Thanks

    Hi Bao,
    The 1230 is not a Lightweight AP, but can be upgraded to LWAPP with the A Radio model listed below (Note that this model is EOS/EOL) this is probably not the best choice for your studies;
    Solution Requirements
Migration from autonomous access point mode to lightweight mode is possible on these Cisco Aironet access point platforms:
    All 1130AG access points
    All 1240 AG access points
For all IOS-based 1200 series modular access point (1200/1220 Cisco IOS Software Upgrade, 1210 and **1230 AP**) platforms, it depends on the radio:
    if 802.11G, MP21G and MP31G are supported
    if 802.11A, RM21A and RM22A are supported
The 1200 series access points can be upgraded with any combination of supported radios: G only, A only, or both G and A.
    All 1310 AG access points

  • Lightweight but functional air cooler for 15" MBP

I like to use my MBP in bed sometimes to watch movies.
I want to use a cooler for it, but one that won't make the 15" MBP heavier than it already is.
Any recommendations on a cooler that works great but doesn't weigh too much for a 15" MBP?
    thanks!

Don't use your MBP in bed. It belongs on a hard, flat surface. Bedclothes will impede the flow of air into and out of a fan-cooling device just as they impede its flow through your MBP, and no fan-cooling device is going to weigh much less than a pound.
In short, use your machine the way it's designed to be used, and it won't need any extra cooling.

  • I am a Communications student with my major in journalism and Broadcasting. Should i get a MacBook Air or a MacBook Pro?

I am a university student and I currently use a Windows computer but I think it's time for a Mac upgrade. I'll be using it for writing lots of word documents and powerpoints, LOTS of web surfing espescially with many tabs and watching shows from my external hardrive. I'll be using some Adobe programs like Dreamweaver, Photoshop or Flash. I'll need to install the Windows OS into the laptop as well for my work. I'm also a light gamer. Mostly for the Dragon Age but that's not important. Portability, convenience and battery life is very important. I would hate to carry around a heavy laptop everyday.
I'm aiming for the either the 256GB, 13inch MacBook Air or the 13inch MacBook Pro. I'm not sure if I need such a high peformance laptop like the Pro but i'm also unsure if the Air is up for the job. The only reason why im hesitant to get the Pro is because it's very expensive and it's too heavy, Which one do you think i should get?

Macbook Pro 13-inch will do fine.
If you prefer a lightweight computer, Macbook Air 13-inch is the right choice
Consider 8-16GB RAM and 256 GB SSD.
    Best.

I have the new 27-inch iMac at home, which serves as my main machine. 3.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.6 GHz, 32GB RAM (8GB at the moment - upgrading soon), 1TB hard drive, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX with 1GB. I love it!
I absoloutely love the MacBook Air - it's a lovely design, so lightweight and the new 12 hour battery life is just epic!
    If I were to get the MacBook Air, I would definite upgrade to these specs;
    - 1.7GHz dual core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz (although I'm told the i7 will drain battery quicker, and isn't much faster?)
    - 8GB RAM
    - 128GB Flash Storage (or possibly 256GB - bare in mind, I have a 1TB external hard drive).
So I guess the big question is... Will the new 2013 13-inch MacBook Air, with these specs, be sufficient for my needs?
    Thanks in advance!

Ah, thats too bad. It's really annoying. Any workaround to make the line less visible? (i.e. external monitor)

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The problem of the MacBook Air is the GPU, and Adobe apps don't support the GPU of your MacBook officially because it's an integrated GPU.
Sincerely, if you want to use that type of applications, the only valid Mac is the 15-inch MacBook Pro. It includes a quad-core processor, 4 GB of RAM (with the possibility to add up to 16 GB), a 500 GB HDD (with possibilities for bigger HDDs and SSDs) and a NVIDIA GPU which will work with your applications without any problem. Also, you can modify the RAM and hard drive without voiding the warranty.
If you want to give the MacBook Air a try, buy it and see if your applications work properly. You have 14 days to return it if it doesn't work as you expected, but to be sure, go for the 15-inch MacBook Pro. The MacBook Air is designed for home tasks

  • In desperate need of a new laptop! Should I go with the MBP Retina, MBP, or MB Air?

I am in need of a new computer, but I have no idea which one I want to get. I really need some advice. Here is all the info I think you all would need to help me out:
Currently I have a 15-inch 2008/2009 Macbook Pro with these stats:
4.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
500 GB  SATA hard drive with 122 GB not in use
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
    I use my computer for:
Fairly heavy e-mail and word processing
About 50 GB of music in my iTunes library
    Moderate photoshop and illustrator use
    Moderate photo editing
    Light video editing (in imovie)
Heavy internet use (rarely have less than 10 tabs open at a time)
    Light game playing (Sims etc)
I like my computer to be fairly portable and light, but I wouldn't sacrifice everything else for the lightest computer on the market. However, I do find my current Mac Book Pro to be too heavy.
    Computers I am considering:
    Macbook Pro 13"
Macbook Pro Retina 13" or 15"
    Macbook Air 13"
(not sure of which configuration on any of them, though)
These are my thoughts about my options:
    MBPro 13inch:
PRO: Lighter than my current mac
PRO: Fairly inexpensive (as far as macs go)
PRO: upgradability (if I ever wanted to)
CON: No quad-core... will I miss it if I've never had it? Do I need it?
CON: Small speaker (to keep fullsize keyboard) Does anyone know of any issues with this?
Screen size is completely fine for me.
PRO: Easily portable, fits well in a purse. Not too heavy.
    MBPro Retina
    PRO: It's freaking beautiful.
PRO: Both are lightweight and portable, 13" moreso.
PRO: Flash memory (from what I've been told, it's better because of no moving parts?)
PRO: Can get quad-core with 15"
    PRO: Awesome speakers
CON: More $$ (though not the biggest decision maker)
Unsure: Would have to use an adapter for Ethernet (which I don't use frequently)
CON: not upgradable (not necessarily a con, but it seems like a big issue)
Unsure: The Retina screen. I'm worried about certain apps not working for it yet (I'm a hardcore chrome user)
    MB Air:
    PRO: Very lightweight and portable
    PRO: It's very aesthetically pleasing.
CON: Not customizable (again, I'm kind of undecided on this)
CON: It seems like it's not very powerful?
CON: I'm worried that it's not enough to support my usage.
I have plans to buy an iMac in the next few months, probably around February or March. On that I could do all of my major photoshop work and graphics design, etc. But I don't want to get something that won't support my needs until then.

Walk into an Apple Store or call the online Apple Store.  The sales staff will be more than happy to help you with your concerns and help you make your decision.

  • MacBook Air or Pro for 2012 Student (heavy multitasker)?

    Hey Apple Community,
Brief Background: I have been using the MacBook (December 2010), and it has been a boon - but it is time to move on. I waste anywhere between 1-3 hours just waiting for it to load, or else having to reboot it and open things again. Whatever I do, within an hour of use it just lags to the point where I end up doing my work on my iPhone or relocating to the school library where I can use a PC.
As such, I want to buy a new MacBook. I will be writing two books, doing academic research, and soon starting my JD.
I need a computer mainly for the following tasks:
    - Word processing et al (pages, word, powerpoint)
    - Internet (heavy multitabbing ... I mean very heavy)
    - Internet streaming films, shows, etc.
    - Music (Itunes)
Perhaps most defining, I do all of these at the same time, utilizing Apple's 'Spaces' feature to the max - so the chosen mac would have to be very Multitask-Friendly (VERY!). I want something that will be able to effortlessly hold up all of these tasks at the same time. Harddrive space is less important (I am willing to put all of my music, movies and photos on an external harddrive if necessary). I'd like a computer that can do all of this very quickly, and would also be very portable (but I think the Pro is lightweight enough).
I am leaning towards the MacBook Air.
I would be grateful for any help at all.

I think the MBair would meet your needs.  Here's a comparison with the MBpro.
