Air screen display issue

Hi All, my one year old got his hands on my Air and has done something so that browsers and software does not fit the screen now including tool bars,
The images move when you scroll over to the left or right so you can get to the content,
I have played with display resolution but to no effect, any suggestions ???
Many Thanks
Mt

Could be that the Zoom feature is on.
Check the settings in System Preferences - Universal Access.

  • Pixelated enlarged screen - display issues related to external hard drive

Hi.  I had an external hard drive plugged into my macbook.  I have a second monitor hooked up.  My screen is pixelated and enlarged (I have to scroll to see the whole desktop).  The icons are rearranged and very blurry. Everything is blurry and enlarged.  My files will open, but they are all blurry as well.  When I noticed these display issues, I realized the mac was not detecting the hard drive that was plugged into the usb port. I  unplugged it and then a LOT of folders with the hard drive name appeared on the desktop and then disappeared.  I know I may have misstepped by unplugging it, but what can I do now?  I have rebooted, shut down, checked zoom and screen resolution settings, and unplugged the monitor.  It's the same when I uplug the second monitor and just view my desktop on the mac.  Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

There is a multitude of posts here addressing the dangers of using Mackeeper. But just look at this:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3691
While this particular problem may not have been caused by Mackeeper, I urge you to uninstall this piece of trash.

  • Screen display issue with InDesign CS4 (Windows)

I just upgraded from CS2 to CS4. I can open and use InDesign with no problems, until I try to switch to another application. Then, when I try to go back to InDesign, all I can see is the portion of the bar at the top of the screen that shows the link to Bridge, the view options and a bit of the outline of a palette or two. I have a two monitor setup. Most of the palettes are on the auxillary monitor and they show up just fine. The main display is where I'm having the issue. I can toggle in and out of Photoshop with no display issues. I haven't tried working with anything else from the CS4 package besides InD and Photoshop. This was not an issue with any CS2 product (Dreamweaver, Fireworks, InDesign, Photoshop, Flash). Nor has it been an issue with any of the other software I am running (so far).
When the display vanishes, I can see the "data" from the program I was trying to toggle out of. For example, if I try to toggle between this page and InD right now, I can see most of this page except for the part of the page obscured by the outline of the control palette (that one reminiscent of pagemaker) and the little bits at the top. I can't see the project I'm working on. I can't see the File/Edit/etc. bar at the top of the page. A Control/Shift/Save will lock up the program completely. Then, I see the "save as" menu box (in addition to the browser screen around it) but the program is locked up. I can close everything on the computer and reboot and open InDesign to resume work--that is until I need to do something like edit a photo to drop into a layout. Then the issue occurs all over again.
Windows machine; XP Pro, service pack 3 build 2600; NVidea GeForce 9600 GT graphics card.

Bob, thanks for the info about the 6.0.2 patch. I'll try grabbing that today. This morning, on the first boot, I can't even see the program when I open it--just the snip of the command palette and part of the very top bar. Very irritating.
Peter, I have tried maximizing, closing, reopening, etc. everything else I can think of. Same issue. I finally just bit the bullet and went back to CS2, rebuilding the current project so I can get the work done by deadline. I'll look for new video drivers this afternoon after I get back on track timewise on this newsletter. Weird that this display issue should just affect the one Adobe program though, and not the others if it is a video driver problem. I didn't do a lot of work in Dreamweaver--just enough to see if it displayed the same weird behaviour. Nope. Nor does Photoshop. Nor does Bridge. Nor does Acrobat. nor does any other software on the machine.

  • Satellite L670D-13F 17.3 inch Notebook - screen display issues

    Hi.
I've had my Satellite for almost a year, and in recent weeks the screen display has been compromised. There is turquoise/blue thin line all over anything white or white-tinged. I'd like to hope it's nothing virus-related as I have McAffee installed.
Any ideas what this could be? Is it a known issue?
    Thanks.

Sounds like the red LED has gone in that display line, since RGB for white without the red (just green and blue) equals cyan (turquoise).
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RGB_color_model
Try making a picture with a solid red square in a paint program and see if there are any black lines when you display it.
I have a permanent red vertical line on the display of a 9 year old Toshiba laptop. Otherwise it works fine. If the display is white you don't notice anything.
It's possible it could be graphic card related (e.g. if it's not there all the time and only happens when the graphic chip heats up) but if it's permanent it's more likely to be the display matrix.

  • Switching users causes screen display issues

I've had a new MacBook Pro 2011 that came with Lion on it. It's been working well, I migrated my old user accounts from my previous MacBook with Snow Leopard on it.
After having it a few weeks my son tried using the fast user switching and going into his account but the screen was exteremly glitchy. It basically show what looked like my users screen and would erase and paint with his correct screen as he dragged windows around. Eventually his screen would like correct then spontantously revert to showing my screen again.
Fast user switching back to my account showed everything correctly. Logging us both out and logging him in alone works fine. Logging him in first and then switching to my user gives me the problem he experienced of seeing mostly his screen and having to drag screens around causing re-painting to show my proper screen.
Screen refresh issue aside if we can work through messed up screens the computer appears to be working fine, apps launch properly and no sign of any memory or file corruption, everything "works" properly.
I tried completely removing and re-creating his account but the problem remains.
Couple of factors in case they are relevant.
    1) We upgraded the HDD to a SDD but it shows not signs of any issues
    2) We upgraded the memory beyond the normal limit of 8gb to 16gb using a Cruicial memory kit certified for the MacBook Pro.
    3) We have both the laptop screen 1680x1050 running and an attached thunderbolt display AND a usb DisplayLink adapter to a 3rd Dell 1600x1200 monitor.
My intial thoughts were with the DisplayLink adapter. I made sure to get the latest drivers from the display link web site and did some searches but no one has described my problem.
The screen issue seems to present itself mainly on the "main monitor" the 27" thunderbolt display but we have seen some screen corruption on the MacBook LCD. Oddly the DisplayLink always appears correct.
    Anyone have any ideas?
      System Version:          Mac OS X 10.7.3 (11D50b)
      Kernel Version:          Darwin 11.3.0
      Boot Volume:          Macintosh SSD
      Boot Mode:          Normal
      Secure Virtual Memory:          Enabled
      64-bit Kernel and Extensions:          Yes
      Time since boot:          21:31

As a followup. Experimenting seems to suggest that removing the driver for DisplayLink cures the issue. Going to test more with reinstalling the driver and just unplugging the USB cable before switching.
Was also seeing (before uninstall) issues with getting a Beach Ball freeze during logout of the 2nd user.
I want to be certain of if it's the DisplayLink driver but once I am certain I'll take my gripe to their support forum.

  • Screen/Display Issues with Aperture 3.6 & iPhoto 9.6 on Yosemite

When I open Aperture or iPhoto, my screen goes all wonky. I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro with 8 GB Ram with the Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB. What is it doing this? How can I fix it?

    Hello there, tehat17.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great recommendations for troubleshooting issues with the display on your MacBook Pro:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
    Start with these:
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
If you tried all of these steps for your display and the video issues persist, contact Apple technical supportor take your Apple computer to the nearest Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) for diagnosis. If you plan to visit an Apple Retail Store, make a reservation at the Genius Bar using http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/ (available in some countries only).
Note: Diagnostic fees may apply for issues not covered under warranty or the AppleCare Protection Plan (APP).
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Screen Display Issue..

My screen won't display but I can still music, I resetted it a couple of times already. Anyone else have this issue but me? If so how did you resolve the problem?

Ace, you'll probably need to return it to place of purchase or to Apple. Not much anybody here can do about a hardware issue.
    Bummer.
    Good luck.

  • MBA'13 screen display issues

Hi there, I bought my MacBook Air 13 about a month ago. Recently, my screen started to have uneven brightness, with the left side of the screen being dimmer than the right. At times, the right side is not only brighter than the left, but its brightness flickers too. This uneven brightness is only noticeable when the brightness of the screen is between the 1st and the 3rd bar of brightness though. What do I do?

  • Lock screen display issues - Macbook Pro Yosemite

When waking my Macbook up after it has slept, the lock screen sometimes appears as below, with the left hand side appearing as fragmented lines and the right normally, save for the fact that the blurred image is not my current desktop background. At other times the lock screen will appear as normal, but with the incorrect blurred image. However, it will also appear totally normally with the correct blurred background too at times, with no discernible reason for any of the variations. I have tried changing the desktop background to see if that would help at all but it did not seem to make a difference. Any ideas??

The next time the problem happens, note the date and time the problem occurred, then go to Applications/Utilities/Console and copy the log starting at the time of the crash. Paste the log in a reply. Please do not use a screen shot as they can be hard to read. If there are repeated runs of the same messages, please post only one run. Be selective about what you post and don’t  post huge amounts. Make sure there is no personal data visible. Information learned from Linc Davis.

  • Screen Display issues

My ipod has suddenly decided to bug out, im getting split screen, stipes and gradual fading, which causes the touch screen not to respond. I've restarted and restored neither of which worked, please help if you can.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • The Dreaded White screen (display) issue

    Hey guys,
I have the ol' white screen problem. I can mount, restore, and everything just fine but instead of showing menu's the screen shows a white screen.
I have tried all the 5 R's and even restoring again and again. From what i've read here (since my ipod is out of warranty) I'm pretty much screwed and will have to buy a new one. My question is if I wanted to replace the broken part myself, would this be the logic board?
All of this started because I dropped my ipod 2ft onto carpet at work
    Thanks

    Try http://www.iresq.com
They sell replacement parts, but not the logic board.

  • Weird OSX display issues after going to webpage, only thing that fixes is  Perm repair

I have a bizarre issue that i'd love some input on. Late 2009 iMac, Mountain Lion (then Mavericks).
I use Firefox to utilize a real estate website (Fusion MLS) for several months now. A couple of days ago, after i would log into the website and use it for a little bit, the rest of my tabs, apps, windows, would all start appearing as black boxes, or have glitched out (generally black) screen display issues. To be clear, other tabs inside the browser would be black, or partially black, and also the right half of my taskbar icons would be black silhouettes of the icon. BUT, the Fusion MLS website would still work fine. Closing the page, etc, would not fix the problem, it would be stuck like that no matter what i closed or opened, computer would function fine except for the display, but i couldnt see hardly any of the apps so I'd have to shutdown, but a simple reboot didnt fix it. After an hour of troubleshooting, I started off in Mountain Lion when the problem appeared, and in the process of troubleshooting I decided to upgrade to Mavericks to see if that would fix the problem, it didnt. Ultimately I discovered the only thing that fixes the problem is to boot into Safe Mode and Repair Permissions, then i can come back in as normal and everything is normal again (a standard reboot doesnt fix it, when logging back into OSX it would still have black silhouettes and all the app windows would be black).
So after the above I decided to just start using a different browser to go to this Fusion MLS website (Safari). Which worked fine for a day, but now when i go to the website, i have no problems, but when i put the computer to sleep, and bring it back, the windows are blacked out and icons silhouetted. So back to safe mode, repair perms, and then it works again. When i do the repair perms, there are usually no verbose things that it says it repairs, sometimes it says something about the PrinterList being 0 instead of 80, but thats it.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated, I'm completely dumbfounded....

Now regular Repair Perms doesnt fix it, it has to be Diskwarriors Repair Perms. Also it happens anytime the computer is put to sleep for a length of time and brought back, regardless of whether the Fusion MLS website was gone to.

  • IPad air screen not displaying correctly

My iPad Air screen has recently started displaying with a pink hue in two of the corners, showing as a medium sized oval in one corner and a small circle in the other. There are also some vertical pink streaks that are less marked. It's really noticeable when the screen is displaying a white background. The only recent changes I have made is downloading the new IOS 8 update. There has been no trauma or damage to the iPad. It is still covered under the 1 year limited warranty. is there any way to fix this in my own?! Thank you!

    Hello there katelynlc,
It sounds like you have some graphical anomolies on your screen that have a pink hue. If it is a software issue it will be resolvable by either first resetting the iPad:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
Or backing up and restoring your iPad as a new device:
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
If restoring as new does resolve it, restore your backup and verify it still works.
If not, then the iPad will need service:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

  • MacBook Air Full Screen Display

Why does my MacBook Air not go full screen when the display is set at 1440 x 900?  I have to set the display at 1024 x 640 to get a full screen display.  Thanks.

    Hi forever free,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact nature of your issue. Depending on your model of MacBook Air (post-2010), the native fullscreen resolution should be 1440 by 900 (16:10 aspect ratio) for the 13 inch and 1366 by 768 (16:9 aspect ratio) for the 11 inch.
