Air Server

I have an iPod 4g running iOS 6.0.1 and I have seen a lot of videos saying that if you connect your iPod to your PC theough Wi-Fi the turn on Apple's Air Server, then you can mirror your device on the screen with any application. Mine only mirrors videos b?ut i have seen people mirror applications. Is this normal or is my iPod broken. Do i need to have it jailbroken or something? Or do i need to enable it on settings

Do not hack or jailbreak your iPod, this voids the warranty, among other consequences.
iPod can AirPlay to a TV, not a PC.

  • Air Play - Air Server - Air Parrot

    Windows 8.1 Tablet with Air Parrot installed.  Windows 7 Enterprise Desktop unit with Air Server installed.
    Air Parrot will not connect via the tablet to the Desktop Air Server.
    Ipads all work great.  So we are wondering if there is a setting in Windows 8.1 that will allow the Air Parrot or Air Play to play with Air Server on Windows 7.
    Thank you.

    Air Parrot is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 8.
    This is what I am finding here for Windows 8.1.

  • Why is Air Server/air play interfering with GarageBand recording?

    As I attempt to record a track, a message comes up asking if I wish to use Air Play.  This comes up frequently, and if not cancelled, interferes with recording. I have turned Air Server off, but Air Play seems to be linked with Displays in System Preferences.

  • RoboHelp: Air, Server, or ??

    I use Robohelp 8 HTML to create a help center for our various call center groups. I am currently using the WebHelp output for a browser-based help tool. The challenge we run into is a lot of feeback that "searching is too hard" and our system is too complex.
    I've looked into Air, specifically the locally installed Air help, as this would allow for favorites to be defined by each user and make comments. This may help the user customize our system per their needs and provide feedback. The challenge is that our content changes on a daily basis and it appears as though pushing through updates is not as seemless as browser based help systems.
    I'm looking at RoboHelp Server 8, and it appears as though the reporting and "improvement loop" may assist in determining what content is frequently accessed. We've considered creating smaller projects and deploying them to individual groups instead of a company-wide help system.

    Indeed Searching is too hard. I used to have a similar setup and situation with a call center that needed rapid (and simple) access to information on several hundred different products. Indeed, if I only offered Search they would have crucified me.
    I stumbled across this amazing technology that allowed them to type just a few letters and instantly locate any information they wanted. And this was eons before AIR or Google or the Magickal RoboHelp Server entered the picture.
    I too pushed content out on a daily basis and my users loved my system.
    Oh, I guess you might be wondering what I did to make this happen. Yeah, that might be helpful, huh?
    I created something known as an Index and populated it with useful terms that made sense to my users. Do an index correctly and teach your users how to use it. I guarantee it will outperform AIR or Google or RoboHelp Server any day of the week.
    Cheers... Rick

  • If I have a MacBook Pro and an iPad what use would a MacBook Air serve me?

    Why would I want a MacBook Air if I have iPad and MacBook Pro?

    macbook Air has the weight of an Ipad (nearly) and has only 1 moving part, no HD to crash
    Macbook Air is the ONLY mac with Haswell ,  802ac wifi,  and incredible 12hr battery life
    Macbook Air has ultrafast 8 second boot from SSD
    An Ipad, though I have 2 of them and love them, are just a technical TOY, not a working device, not a productivity tool.  You cant compare an Ipad to a Macbook Air.
    Ive got a Pro and an Air.    Air has many advantages over that of a Pro.
    However if you have an Ipad AND a Pro, then youve got enough to do anything you want between the two.

  • Can MacBook Air serve as my main and only machine?

    I'm planning to buy a MacBook Air as my MAIN and ONLY machine. But I was wondering if it will work out or not. Ill be surfing the web, YouTube, Facebook, photoshop, a little bit of music NO gaming... What do you guys think?? Also is 11" worth the portability over the small screen?

    Considering that the current range of MacBook Air models are almost as powerful as the desktops of a generation or two ago - which were more than adequate for the vast majority of users - there is no reason that a MBA cannot be an only system. However, it would be wise to esnure that you opt for a model with 4Gb RAM (thus, not the base 11" model) and ensure that you also select one with a suitably large drive capacity. The SSD can be upgraded later if you run out of space, but the upgrade is expensive.
    You would probably also be wise to add an external optical drive for those occasions you have need of one, since you won't have another system who's drive you can share from the MBA, but almost any external USB optical will work, so you're not tied to Apple's Superdrive offering.
    You might also find that the 11 or 13 inch screen is a bit too limiting, so an external monitor might be worth considering. For this you'll need not just the monitor, but also the appropriate (preferably DVI) mini DisplayPort adapter.
    I really like the portability of the 11" MBA, but for a sole machine, I think portability is less important than screen size, so if deciding to go this route, I'd pick the 13" model with 4Gb RAM and 256Gb SSD. It wouldn't be the ultimate in performance, but still remarkably capable.

  • Can I use a GRE tunnel to solve my problem?

    Please see the attached file for a topology of the relevant portions of this network.
    All but three of the APs at Building B are plugged into Cisco 3650 switches that are also acting as the WLCs.  This allows for local switching of WiFi client traffic.  The WiFi clients are tagged with VLAN 20 and the PCs at Building B are tagged with VLAN 10.  Inter-VLAN routing occurs at the 3560 in Building B.  This is important so that iPads on the WiFi network are switched locally with the PCs in the classroom. I then turn on the mDNS feature on the 3650/WLC so that we can use our PCs as "Apple TVs" via a program called Air Server.  This allows the teacher to project the iPad onto the PC, which is then projected to the SMART Board.
    My problem is with the 3 classrooms whose APs plug into a 2960-PS.  These APs are managed by the dedicated WLC-5760 located at Building A.  This means that the teacher PC is using the 3560 in Building B as the default gateway while the wireless traffic is being handled by the 3750 in Building A.  The last time I checked, the WLC 5700 series controllers did not have Flex Connect as a feature.
    Here's my question:  Is there any type of IP tunneling solution I could use to tunnel a particular client or VLAN so that it can be routed at Building A?  I've only played with tunneling from an IPv4/IPv6 standpoint.  Thank you for your time!

    You're correct, you cannot extend L2 across L3 unless you use some kind of encapsulation technology, for example, the already mentioned L2TPv3 or pseudo-wire over MPLS, etc.
    However, what I have in mind for extending a VLAN means converting a routed p2p link to a L2 trunk link (I'm assuming the equipment, e.g. L3 switches, can support this). Across the trunk, you can extend your VLAN(s).  For the routers, you can dedicate a new VLAN, across just the trunk, that takes the place of the former p2p.  I.e. so you can do both L2 and L3 across the same physical link.

  • Establishing a socket connection between a .swf file and a socket-test program (TCP/IP builder - Windows), in AS3.

    I have an issue with a college project I'm working on.
    Using Actionscript 3, I made a simple .swf program, an animated, interactive smiley, that 'reacts' to number inputs in a input-box.
    For the sake of the project, I now need to make the framework for establishing a socket connection with the smiley .swf, and another program.
    This is where I encounter issues. I have very little knowledge of AS3 programming, so I'm not certain how to establish the connection - what's required code-wise for it, that is.
    To test the connection, I'm attempting to use the "TCP/IP builder" program from windows, which lets me set up a server socket. I need to program the .swf file into a client - to recognize it, connect to it, then be able to receive data (so that the data can then be used to have the smiley 'react' to it - like how it does now with the input-box, only 'automatically' as it gets the data rather than by manual input).
    My attempts at coding it are as follows, using a tutorial (linked HERE):
    //SOCKET STUFF GOES HERE
        var socket:XMLSocket;
        stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, doConnect);
    // This one connects to local, port 9001, and applies event listeners
        function doConnect(evt:MouseEvent):void
        stage.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, doConnect);
        socket = new XMLSocket("127.0.0.1", 9001);
        socket.addEventListener(Event.CONNECT, onConnect);
        socket.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onError);
    // This traces the connection (lets us see it happened, or failed)
        function onConnect(evt:Event):void
            trace("Connected");
            socket.removeEventListener(Event.CONNECT, onConnect);
            socket.removeEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onError);
            socket.addEventListener(DataEvent.DATA, onDataReceived);
            socket.addEventListener(Event.CLOSE, onSocketClose);
            stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_UP, keyUp);
        function onError(evt:IOErrorEvent):void
            trace("Connect failed");
            socket.removeEventListener(Event.CONNECT, onConnect);
            socket.removeEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onError);
            stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, doConnect);
    // Here, the flash tracks what keyboard button is pressed.
    // If 'q' is pressed, the connection ends.
            function keyUp(evt:KeyboardEvent):void
            if (evt.keyCode == 81) // the key code for q is 81
                socket.send("exit");
            else
                socket.send(evt.keyCode);
    // This one should handle the data we get from the server.
            function onDataReceived(evt:DataEvent):void
            try {
                trace("From Server:",  evt.data );
            catch (e:Error) {
                trace('error');
        function onSocketClose(evt:Event):void
            trace("Connection Closed");
            stage.removeEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_UP, keyUp);
            socket.removeEventListener(Event.CLOSE, onSocketClose);
            socket.removeEventListener(DataEvent.DATA, onDataReceived);
    Trying to connect to the socket gives me either no result (other than a 'connection failed' message when I click the .swf), or the following error:
    Error #2044: Unhandled securityError:. text=Error #2048: Security sandbox violation: file:///C|/Users/Marko/Desktop/Završni/Flash%20documents/Smiley%5FTCP%5FIP%5Fv4.swf cannot load data from 127.0.0.1:9001.
        at Smiley_TCP_IP_v4_fla::MainTimeline/doConnect()[Smiley_TCP_IP_v4_fla.MainTimeline::frame1:12]

    Tried adding that particular integer code, ended up with either errors ("use of unspecified variable" and "implicit coercion") , or no effect whatsoever (despite tracing it).
    Noticed as well that the earlier socket code had the following for byte reading:
    "sock.bytesAvailable > 0" (reads any positive number)
    ...rather than your new:
    "sock.bytesAvailable != 0" (reads any negative/positive number)
    Any difference as far as stability/avoiding bugs goes?
    So then, I tried something different: Have the program turn the "msg" string variable, into a "sentnumber" number variable. This seemed to work nicely, tracing a NaN for text (expected), or tracing the number of an actual number.
    I also did a few alterations to the input box - it now no longer needs the 'enter' key to do the calculation, it updates the animation after any key release.
    With all this considered and the requirements of the project, I now have a few goals I want to achieve for the client, in the following order of priority:
    1) Have the "sentnumber" number variable be recognized by the inputbox layer, so that it puts it into the input box. So in effect, it goes: Connect -> Send data that is number (NaN's ignored) -> number put into input box -> key press on client makes animation react. I optionally might need a way to limit the number of digits that the animation reacts to (right now it uses 1-3 digit numbers, so if I get sent a huge number, it might cause issues).
    - If the NaN can't be ignored (breaks the math/calculus code or some other crash), I need some way of 'restricting' the data it reads to not include NaN's that might be sent.
    - Or for simplicity, should I just detect the traced "NaN" output, reacting by setting the number variable to be "0" in such cases?
    2) After achieving 1), I'll need to have the process be automatic - not requiring a keyboard presses from the client, but happening instantly once the data is sent during a working connection.
    - Can this be done by copying the huge amounts of math/calculus code from the inputbox layer, into the socket layer, right under where I create the "sentnumber" variable, and modifying it delicately?
    3) The connection still has some usability and user issues - since the connection happens only once, on frame 1, it only connects if I already have a listening server when I run the client, and client can't re-connect if the server socket doesn't restart itself.
    I believe to do this, I need to make the connection happen on demand, rather than once at the start.
    For the project's requirement, I also need to allow client users to define the IP / port it's going to connect to (since the only alternative so far is editing the client in flash pro).
    In other words, I need to make a "Connect" button and two textboxes (for IP and port, respectively), which do the following:
    - On pressing "Connect", the button sets whatever is in the text boxes as the address of the IP and port the socket will connect to, then connects to that address without issues (or with a error message if it can't due to wrong IP/port).
    - The connection needs to work for non-local addresses. Not sure if it can yet.
    - On re-pressing connect, the previous socket is closed, then creates a new socket (with new IP/port, if that was altered)
    It seems like making the button should be as simple as putting the existing socket code under the function of a button, but it also seems like it's going to cause issues similar to the 'looping frames' error.
    4) Optional addition: Have a scrolling textbox like the AIR server has, to track what the connection is doing on-the-fly.
    The end result would be a client that allows user to input IP/Port, connects on button press (optionally tracking/display what the socket is doing via scrollbox), automatically alters the smiley based on what numbers are sent whilst the connection lasts, and on subsequent button presses, makes a new connection after closing off the previous one.
    Dropbox link to new client version:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/ybaa8zi4i6d7u6a/Smiley_TCP_IP_v7.fla?dl=0
    So, starting from 1), can I, and how can I, get the number variable recognized by "inputbox" layer's code? It keeps giving me 'unrecognized variable' errors.

  • Software Updates for the Ellipsis Jetpack

    The current software for the Ellipsis Jetpack is Version R700G.VZ.26.1008.
    Following are a few hints to make the update process quick and easy:
    - Download and installation should take 5-8 minutes. Keep in mind that during the installation you will be unable to use your Verizon Ellipsis Jetpack.
    Over the Air Server Initiated
    1) Push: The Server pushes the update package to the Ellipsis Jetpack MHS700L.
    2) Download: The MHS700L will download the update package in the background without interrupting the current data session and without any notification to users.
    3) Update: When users press and hold the power button to power off, the device initiates updating process automatically (power-off trigger).

    When I have tried to download the software update on http://my.jetpack/, it has only ever said "Software download is temporarily not available. Please try later." It has been saying this for several months, and I have tried all major browsers. The jetpack is currently running Version R700G.VZ.26.960 and firmware version 0.1.2.50. I have tried restarting the jetpack several times, and restarting the computer. Are there any known workarounds for this issue?
    Thanks,

  • Swipe up vs double clicking the home button. Can't grab the swipe handle!

    The teachers at our school uses the Air Server software to project their iPads to their whiteboard for their students. We've always been able to double click the home button to get to the Air Play controls to turn it on but with the new update we can no longer double click, we have to swipe up. The problem is, we have all of our iPads in "kid proof" otterbox type cases and it is next to impossible to grab whatever it is that allows you to swipe up and get to those functions. Please tell me there is another option out there or please give us back the double click option.

    Thanks and we actually have the Gumdrop cases here at school. Maybe they are different, idk, but it has caused a good bit of frustration. Is there a trick to  it?

  • Loading resource module from private folder.

    Hi,
    I have client(AIR)-server(Java) application working with many locales. Every now and then someone finds a bug in translation and repairs it.  Whenever somebody updates translation (via other tool wchich also creates new xx_XXresourceModule.swf on the server) it's created new resource module. From this reason I want to have resourceModules located on server. Changing resource on server will spread this change on each client during client initialization. Client during starting checks "somehow" whether there is newer resource module on server side and if there is then it should download and loads it.
    The reason why I don't want to just call IResourceManager.loadResourceModule(serverURL+resourceModule.swf) every time client start is quicker  client start up. If there isn't newer localization it uses the one which was dowloaded and stored earlier during former start.
    The problem is that when I download resourceModule.swf I could store it only into File.documentsDirectory where I have WRITE rights. But later on I am not able to load resource module via IResourceManager.loadResourceModule(). It complains "Unable to load resource module from: file:///c:/documents and settings/user/MyDocuments/resourceModule.swf" Do I miss something or is it possible to call loadResourceModule() when the SWF file is located somewhere in myDocument folder?
    Any idea how to solve it?
    //pyso

    AIR had a security restriction that you can only load modules from the app directory (i.e. the same folder the application was installed to). However they added a loadBytes(...) function to allow a module to be loaded that had been downloaded. I don't know if this was added to the resource stuff however.
    You cannot blindly add modules to the app directory either (at least ones that weren't part of the initial install) as the AIR runtime tries to work out from the directory whether it needs to update itself, and adding files in there confuses it (so say Adobe).
    I actually think you might be stuffed unless you create a new version of your AIR application with the new resource bundle, and distribute it as an update.
