Air Sharing

I recently got the Air Sharing App and I have the following problem.
After installing the App in my Ipod Touch it works fine in my Macbook connected to the same wifi hotspot but when I try to connect in other mac computer I have wired via Ethernet I can't connect to the Ipod nevertheless it is connect to the same Router but via wifi.
¿Any suggestions?.

Now I think I understand how the connection betwen computer and touch works.
I tried to connect my touc to an IMAC conneted to de Internet via Ethernet to a wifi router with another access point connected to the main wifi router aswell.
I can access my Touch only when the Imac and the device are connected to the same access point, that't to say, I can't connect then if the computer is connected via ethernet while the touch is via wifi or the computer is over the main wifi router and the device is over the second acces point. I don't know if I made me understood because my English is not quite good.

URGENT: (Purchased App) Air Sharing Missing

I spent like seven bucks on Air Sharing, my hard drive got all messed up, the iPod synced with my hard drive, all my music got deleted from the iPod also!!
Not a big deal, I know, I just recovered all my music from Time Machine, but for some reason it obliterated Air Sharing from my Time Machine, the iPod and the Hard Drive...
In the application tab under iTunes, it still has Air Sharing, but it can't locate it...
What do I do?

Go into the iTunes Store and ensure you are signed in with the same Apple ID used to purchase originally. If so, you can act as though you're purchasing the item again and you should be presented with a message stating you've already purchased the item with an offer to download again for free.

Air Sharing app problems with updating

Avatron says this is an iPhone software issue:
"I'm afraid sometimes the only way to get around these update lock-ups is to completely restore your phone as a New Phone. You can sync to get your apps back, and if you use MobileMe (.Mac) to sync your contacts, calendar, etc., you'll get that all back too. But there's just something pretty badly broken in the App Store updater. We're all hoping Apple will fix it in the next version of iPhone OS.

This company had a problem in the past with updating its software, is this an iPhone issue or is it an Avatron issue? It seems odd that if Apple vets these applications and updates, this issue should have been identified and corrected. Now, I have paid for an application I cannot use (either the old version or the updated one).

I had no problem updating. I see others were able to move all their files off the iPhone (in Air Sharing) and then do the update. Others had to take the added step of deleting the application and then re-install.
I would not say this is an Air Sharing only issue. The idea of having to restore a phone to new to get some pesky installs or apps to work has been talked about many times. I have never had to go that route, but many people had to as a last resort.
It could be an Avatron issue, but historically, their app is not the only one that has required such extreme measures. Update 2.1 fixed most app store issues, but some people still report them.

IMac and iPad Air sharing

I reasently bought a new iMac for myself and an iPad Air for the mrs.
I just cant get them to work together, niether by Bluetooth or by using Airdrop.
Bluetooth connects and disconnect, there is a error message that says "the device does not have the necessary services" (the iMac or iPad?)
Airdrop, in the iMac, just cant find the iPad and I dont know if it is even possible do the search from the iPad
What is there for my to do? I am new to the Mac family, so hopefully there is a simple sulution outhere..

I'm not certain that Mageia 2 Linux is supported. This Release Notes page and this Install Help page don't mention Mageia, just
Fedora Core 12, Ubuntu 9.10, OpenSUSE 11.2.

File Sharing in Apps not Working

I have iTunes 9.1.1 and under the Apps tab for my iPad it shows that File Sharing is available for Air Sharing HD and Pages. It doesn't work, though. Nothing shows up as being shared (although I have shared files from Pages on the iPad) and when I try to add compatible files using the "Add…" button dialog, they never show up.
Google showed me that someone else has had this problem but no solution was offered. Has anyone found a fix for this?

Please let me know which part of my question confused you so I can edit it or just let me know that you didn't read it correctly because I stated that when trying to use the "Add…" dialog, nothing happens. That dialog button does not show unless an App is selected.

unfortunately, the person had no input...
i do have a work around for you if you are interested. it is a little more involved, but works well. i just tested with Pandora Desktop. here's the example
Prereqs:
Download the AIR 2.6 Linux SDK - Adobe AIR 2.6 SDK Linux (35.8 MB)
Download the Pandora Air Desktop - www.pandora.com
Instruction (in terminal)
unzip the AIR SDK in your home directory
-it will unpack a "bin" directory in your home
create a folder ~/apps/pandora
-this will contain the contents of the pandora app
unzip the pandora_3_0_3.air contents into ~/apps/pandora
run the following command
adl -nodebug ~/apps/pandora/META_INF/AIR/application.xml ~/app/pandora
NOTE: if that works for you. you can create a shortcut with the same command so you won't need to use command line.

Change in the ePrint sharing options?

Hi, has there been changes in the HP ePrint over-the-air sharing options lately? I'm trying to print out a picture on a webpage from my smartphone, but the I get an error message saying that I can't print out from browser, but I need to print out jpegs? Thanks for your help!

Have you tried sending the picture via email as an attachment? Are you can try using the Hp ePrint mobile app.

When will Adobe AIR 2 be out?

Will it be out this year? If so, what major functionality will be introduced? Especially, will it allow an AIR program to launch other programs?
I wish we know more about AIR's roadmap so we can make decisions on how we will develop our products. Right now it's like a black box and we have to guess what will happen.

As far as I know, the only publicly-announced details about the next major version of AIR are the limited details that Arno Gourdol (Engineering manager for AIR) shared at "Flash Camp" in San Francisco last May.

Air Share App On macbook

Hello all. I was just wanting to know if anyone else is having problems running that air share app in the app store on a macbook. Im doing everything its telling me to do on the connecting page on the app. I try and put in the im adress it says but it always says fail. All help would be awsome

I have similar problem connecting from my macbook to the iphone (and ipod).
Either connect via Finder or using Safari browser. Both unsuccessful...
However, the weird thing is that I can browse from my ipod tocuh to the iphone (with air sharing enabled) and vice versa.
It seems my Macbook refused to connect. I can't even ping the IP address (failed).
My Macbook don't have problem browsing over the Net.
Another weird thing is that it only failed to connect when I'm in my home wifi.
I don't have problem connecting at my office wifi.
It seems the problem is pointing to my Time Capsule...

File Sharing is broken in iTunes 10.0.0.68

In iTunes 10.0.0.68 for Windows, when I connect my iPhone 3GS running iOS 4.1 I can see the apps I can sync files with on the Apps page for my iPhone. 6 apps appear: Air Sharing Pro, GoodReader Lite, Google Earth, Stanza, USB Disk and yxplayer2 lite.
If I select one of these I can see the files I can transfer. I can select another and see that as well, but if I select 3 different apps then no files will display for any of the apps. I also can't add apps. I have to disconnect my iPhone from my computer and reconnect to fix this.
It's really annoying.

I noticed _that if you click 5 times_ on the Apps list under Sharing Document section the Documents list disappear for all the applications. You have to only close and reopen iTunes. Please Apple correct!!!

Since iOS 4.2.1 Update - Document viewer Apps do not work right!

Before I updated to iOS 4.2.1 Air Sharing (Document Viewer) was working (so were all my Document Viewers), but currently, they do not work correctly. I have checked about three others...all have the following problems:
Since I updated (to iOS 4.2.1), all the documents open up to FULL SCREEN mode (which it had never done before, since the very beginning of the AppStore). Full Screen mode means that it looks like a Word Document on the computer, with the margins showing. This is rediculous for the screen of an iPhone or iPod Touch. There is no need to see the margins. Also, the font size is so small that it makes it almost impossible for most people without a magnifying glass. The document used to open up to a "zoomed in" view of the text. This allows the person using the application to actually read the text. This also allowed scrolling up and down easily. Now, with the new Full Screen view, to get the text large enough to see, you have to double tap (or spread your fingers on the screen to scale it big enough) on the text to read it. Then, when you scroll up and down, it sometimes scrolls side to side or diagonally (into the white margins), making reading cumbersome.
The other problem with the new view is that the font sizes are all messed up. The normal font (whether 9 pt. to 16 pt.) looks the same. The italic font looks bigger than the normal font, though it is the same point size. It skews the page and alters what the original documents looks like.
I have contacted the developer of Air Sharing to complain, but he said the following:

Thank you for the test file. I do see what you're referring to. We use Apple's built-in Office viewer for Air Sharing. This means to display files like .docx ones, we use Apple's viewer. It's possible they changed their viewer in the most recent iOS update to cause this change. Because it's not our viewer we have no control over how it displays such files. Other apps using Apple's viewer will encounter the same issue. I wish there was more we could do on our end to help resolve this problem.

Ah, so that could be a good search term.
Things get a bit more weird though. I was looking through the commands in the drop down menu and saw under "Archive" this: "Put/Send the Apps you bought to this computer" (rough translateion in English) So I tried that out.
I could only do that by going to "Store" and (**** how to say that in English) "Allow" this computer to do that. This is weird as this is the same computer that I have always used for anything to do with the iPhone! I have now 2 computers that are allowed to sync, and it is one machine. Beats me!
At a certain point the transfer proces stopped again and again I was requested to "empower" this computer again, as out of the 65 apps now 21 were not allowed to be transfered! That did not work. It now keeps telling me that I have 2 computers allowed for transferring apps and these last 21 can not be put in the library.
I am a bit at my wits end!
But really thanks for trying to help out! It seems that 4.2.1 has some real problems when reading through the discussions!

Upload multiple files to iphone via wifi - completely freeze

Hi,
I upload files to iphone via wifi and air sharing app a lot. Just connect with finder and drag&drop files one at a time and everything is fine, but when you select more files and try to copy them to iphone together Leopard completely freeze. Totally. You cannot force quit finder, cannot run activity monitor, cannot kill finder in terminal or even restart the computer. Just shut down with holding the power button...
What's wrong? :/

when i had around 50 reports to move from local to server , best idea is to a ) place all your reports in C:\..\My Documents\PC_NW\..domain1..\..username..\AppInfo\..appsetname..\..application..\eExcel\Reports (local folder )
b) open BPC excel -> etools-> Save Dynamic templates -> reports
c) Select Local folder select all the files you want to copy ,and right click copy
d) Select Company folder paste files

Time machine on external drive will not back up itunes media file on a separate external drive. Have already reformated itunes media drive,dragged itunes media backup file from time machine (old copy) and removed time machine plist and restarted.

Two external drives, one for time machine backups and a second (daisy chained firewire) for itunes media folder . Time machine fails to backup the media file saying could not be completed, with no error specified. Steps taken already include reformating drive with media, dragging older media backup file from time machine disc to media disc, and deleting time machine plist and starting time macine preferences upon startup. Media folder is approx 200 gb, mostly ripped dvd movies.
Any help for this??

Safari doesn't open PHP files

If i try to open a PHP file in safari, it shows the code. If the PHP file isn't local, for example, on a local website (using air sharing on my ipod touch and adding php files to it), it will download the file. If I open it there, it will only display the codes like it does on the original file on my mac. I'm trying to use wordpress but it doesn't work. Once I think i saw some of the page working (it was the login page and it was PHP). But i've tried everything i could do but it never worked again. Please help me! Thanks!

You don't open PHP files in Safari.
Safari doesn't know how to run PHP code so it just displays the file content.
You need to run them under a web server - the web server runs the code and outputs the appropriate content.
By default, on Mac OS X you start up the built-in web server (System Preferences -> Sharing -> Personal Web Sharing) and should place the files in /Library/WebServer/Documents/
You then access them in Safari via something like:
http://localhost/my.php
