AIR stops responding on every install.  Solution?

I have been at this for two days now. Normally I can fix my
own problems.. but this one has me ready to throw my MacBook Pro
across the room, even though I know it's not OS X that is the
problem.
I have installed and uninstalled AIR over 10 times now with
various possible solutions to my problem. I first noticed something
was up when Twhirl, my favorite AIR app, stopped receiving and
sending tweets to/from Twitter. My first thought that the problem
was Twhirl, but it wasn't. I re-installed Twhirl several times and
still, the very same thing. I then tried installing a couple
different AIR apps to see if the problem might be with AIR. I tried
installing DestroyTwitter and Adobe Media Player. There I found AIR
freezing and forcing me to 'Force Quit' the application every time.
I have absolutely no idea why this is. I have logged into my admin
account, and the very same thing happens. Created a new account
with admin priviledges, very same thing. Went into
Library/Application Support/Adobe/AIR and deleted that folder after
uninstalling AIR, same problem occurs after re-install. Uninstalled
all AIR applications (Twhirl, Acrobat.com, and Adobe Media Player)
and still, same problem and now I cannot even get my apps back. I'm
out of solutions.
I hope someone can help because this has frustrated the crap
out of me. I might also mention that I have Adobe CS4 Master
Collection installed.. idk maybe that might have something to do
with it. This is driving me NUTS!
PLEASE HELP!

I don't have the solution because the same has happened to me. Now I can't install any adobe air app... or adobe air itself.

It might help to reset the connection settings on your Mac using these steps one at a time until the problem is resolved, recognizing that, depending on your problem, not all of these steps will make sense:
    1) Use the AirPort/Wi-Fi menu bar item to turn AirPort/Wi-Fi off, then on again.
    2) Try to select your Wi-Fi network from the AirPort/Wi-Fi menu.
    3) In the Network panel of System Preferences delete the AirPort/Wi-Fi item from the left column, then add it back.
    4) In the same panel as (3), define a new location and see if you can make that work.
    5) In the same panel, select the AirPort/Wi-Fi connection item, click the "Advanced" button, select the "TCP/IP" tab, then click "Renew DHCP Lease".  Note that the fix this step implements may be temporary.
    6) In the folder /Library/Preferences ( _not_ <yourhomefolder>/Library/Preferences), move the folder SystemConfiguration onto the Desktop, then restart your computer. See if you can now make your AirPort connection work.
These steps may not help, but they'll only take a couple of minutes to try.  Before you try these, if you have any special network settings on your Mac for things like DSL credentials, note all your network settings, because the latter steps will destroy them.  If you got all the way to the last step, if things don't work any worse than before, you can trash the saved SystemConfiguration folder.
By the way, you've been misled by poor field labeling on this forum into typing a large part of your message into the field intended for the subject.  In the future just type a short summary of your post into that field and type the whole message into the field below that.

  • SAP LUMIRA stop responding

    Hi,
I’ve just installed SAP Lumira 1.15. I’m working with windows XP SP3. I know is outdated, but from what I see Lumira still works with this version.
When I start Lumira it just does not do anything. I have to start it again to really start.
Then, if I try to connect to Lumira Cloud, once I start writing the first letter, it just stop responding.
Every time I try to enter text, like giving a title, it just stop responding.
I already executed with admin rights, still the same outcome.
Installed more than once. No result.
    Any idea is appreciated.
    p.s. It's Lumira Personal Edition

    Hi,
this will almost certainly be a memory or chipset issue.
Issuing 32-bit support for Lumira was arguably a bad idea from the outset, as it requires an amount of memory that is rarely 'normal' on a 32bit machine.
I promise you, you will not experience any such application launch / initialisation problems on Win 7, 64-bit, with 8Gb of RAM .
Apologies for the inconvenience this will cause.
    Regards,
    H

  • Why does Firefox stop responding?

Ever since firefox updated (version 3.1.0) it constantly stops responding. This especially happens when attempting to view a video or pop-up image on sites such as Facebook, The Chive, Youtube, etc. The browser stops responding about every 10 seconds then seems fine after about 40 seconds. This repeats for viewing most videos or pop-ups.
Things I have already tried that has no apparent effect:
    Updated Flash to latest version.
    Updated Java to latest version.
    Disabled all Add-Ons.
Set all Plug-Ins to "Ask to Activate".
    Uninstalled custom theme.
    Renamed File: places.sqlite to places.sqlite.old.
    Any help is appreciated.

As if my original issue was not enough, since the last Firefox update (09-20-14), now my FF completely crashes and gives me the same connection issue error as if I had no ISP at all.
"Firefox can't find the server at www.google.com.
Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of www.example.com
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."
Funny thing is, this complete crash thing happens on all three of my comps since installing the latest FF update. IE and Chrome function without issue. My ISP connection is good and no firewall.
I have completely uninstalled FF, deleted all Mozilla/FF folders, cleaned all temp files/cookies, ran a registry cleaner, rebooted and reinstalled FF.
Still have both issues. The only difference is that now I have zero add-ons and have lost all of my saved passwords. I have been using FF for years and have never encountered such a mess.

  • Contacts app has stopped responding

A couple of days ago the Contacts app on my Mac Mini running OS X version 10.10.1 (Yosemite)  stopped responding. Every time I start it I get the beach ball and the app never is accessible. I looked at some of my other user accounts and it is OK there. I looked at my last SuperDuper backup and it still works there. I suppose I could restore that backup if I had to, but short of that are there any other options?
    -Bill

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

  • Base Statiojn stops responding

I have been having a problem for the last week. The extreme base station stops responding about every 10 minutes. The wireless signal stays up but I cannot connect to any other machines or the internet. Also the airport utility cannot locate the base station, put it does see the airport express I have.
If I unplugged the base and plug it back in it works again for anywhere from 10-30 minutes, then fails again. Watching the utility it reports a WDS Error occasionally but then goes back to green.
    So any suggestions?
Also how can I reload the firmware?

  • My firefox stops responding and fades for about a half min almost every hour, OR MORE often

My firefox stops responding and fades for about a half min almost every hour, OR MORE often.
I am typing a message or information, the screen fades to about half bright. the curser freezes in place and no key responds.
The information bar at the top of the page says "firefox not responding" in about 30 seconds it restores and continues as tho nothing happens.

I might have discovered the solution without starting over with all your places and bookmarks.
Right after i installed 7.0.1 over a week ago, every 10-30 min When i would be watching videos online, it would freeze for 20-30 seconds. Firefox would say ( Not responding) both firefox and the plugin container process would be very large memory files. I tried to go back to Firefox 5.0. No avail it would still freeze.I tried to disable the plugin container . no good. I tried to adjust memory or cache or plugin settings in “about:config”.Nothing fixed it!
I finally discovered why my Firefox 7.01 was periodic hanging fix. It is something to do with some of your personal files. download this this add on and install it
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
or you can Google "places maintenance Firefox"
After you install the add on, restart Firefox.go to "tools", then "add ons" and then click “extensions” tab ,then click' options" on the "places maintenance" entry. choose "ALL' or just "expire" and hit "execute", then wait until its done., restart Firefox. should be fine then and all my bookmarks, customizations ,settings, and history stays untouched!
After i did this my Firefox did not freeze once for over 3 days straight. Might not work for everyone. I already read that Mozilla is aware of the problem and are working on a fix it in the full version of 8( the 8 beta did not fix the problem for me) . But they said this is a good temporary fix at least,( might be permanent)
For me at least ,Firefox works fine in 7 now. perfect actually. And many people i saw on similar forums had similar problems.
    Enjoy. Hope this helped

  • Firefox 13.0.1 stops responding when removing cookies on my MacBook Air

Firefox 13.0.1 stops responding and I have to force it to quit when I try to clear cookies on my MacBook Air using
    Tools->Clear Recent History->cookies selected
Preferences->Privacy->Clear Recent History when Firefox Closes->cookies selected
In either case, if I do not select cookies I have no problem.
Preferences->Privacy->Show Cookies->Remove All cookie has no problem.
I can recover simply by forcing Firefox to quit then restarting Firefox. I then deselect cookies in both cases and Firefox acts normally.
I do not have this problem on my MacBook Pro. Both the Pro and Air have been rebuilt from erased discs within the last several weeks.
This is similar to the thread "Firefox Stops Responding After Adobe Flash 11.3.300.262 Installed" (should be .257)" but in this case I do not access a flash site, FlashBlock is installed, and Flash is disabled. The recovery from this problem is very intrusive since I have to delete every file that says "Firefox" and reinstall Firefox.

    Curiouser and curiouser.
I have tried the new Flash on my MacBook Pro using Firefox 13.0.1 at the same USA Today Crossword site, puzzle 6/25/2012 and I do ''' not''' have this problem.
    The variations I see are
    * I used the same DMG to put Adobe Flash on both machines and they are both at 11.3.300.257, 11.3 r300
    * I used the same DMG to put Firefox 13.0.1 on both machines
    * The MacBook Pro is 15" (late 2011) OS X 10.7.4 build 11E53
    * The MacBook Air is 13" (June 2012) OS X 10.7.4 build 11E2705
    * Both are the latest available OS X levels for their respective platforms.
    * Both platforms have been built from erased discs and Apple recovery discs within the last few weeks. (The Air was rebuilt yesterday, 6/24).
    * The OS X 10.7.4 software is at different build levels and additional software has been installed to support the Air.
    * I have Shockwave Director 11.6.3r633 installed on the MacBook Pro
    My findings:
    * On the MacBook Pro, Firefox at the specified Flash site work as advertised
    * On the MacBook Air, Firefox at the same flash site stops respondings and must be force quit.
    Open questions:
    * Must I have Shockwave Director also installed?
    * Does the OS X software build level have an effect of some sort?
    * Does the model series of the MacBooks - late 2011 and June 2012 - affect the problem. The Air has only been available in the within the last few weeks and I ordered it the day it became available.
Does the pointing circle become "shift one left" or "shift one right"?

The most likely cause is a problem with Java on your system - older and/or messed up Java installations seems to cause this issue sometimes.
    To fix:
Step 1: Try installing latest Java version. Check your Firefox/system browser plugins from this page, and install latest version: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Mozilla Plugin Check Page] (also works for most other browsers)
If latest Java (currently "Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U20 - Next Generation Java Plug-in 1.6.0_20 for Mozilla browsers") does not fix the problem, you may have more versions installed on your system causing problems for each other. This leads us to -
Step 2: Uninstall those you can from Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs. To make sure it is properly cleaned out, see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/595817#threadId608043 these excellent tips from noah_sumo] to clean out Java completely, then install latest version again from the [http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp Java.com download page].
If you ''still'' get this error, you may have Norton or another security program which can also in some cases cause this issue. That takes us to:
Step 3: Configure security program correctly.
For Norton 360 see [[Configuring Norton 360]].
For Norton Internet Security, see [[Configuring Norton Internet Security]].
For other firewall programs, see [[Firewalls]].
If none of these steps solves the problem, please provide any detail you can think of that may be related and let us know, and we will try to find other solutions to get this solved.

  • Adobe Air download - "Couldn't write the application to the hard disk. Please verify the hard disk is available and try again" message. Been at this for days. Tried every suggested solution on multiple forums. Anyone come across a reliable fix?

I have a subscription to Adobe Story Plus. I have been attempting to download the desktop version for over a week with no luck. I've read every forum I can find and attempted every suggested solution with no luck.
    Things I have done:
    - downloaded adobe air directly from website.
    - refreshed adobe story after air download and retried story download.
    - restarted computer
    - attempted download on multiple internet browsers.
***One thing that I have noticed is that I cannot actually find the adobe air application on my pc. The installer is present and every time I try to open it I am told that air is already installed and updated.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm no computer expert, but I am capable enough to usually troubleshoot my own problems. This one has gotten away from me though and I'm out of ideas.
    Thank you in advance.
    Adam

    Does these steps help?
    - Download Adobe AIR from https://get.adobe.com/air
    - Double click on the downloaded file and install it.
    - After installation, download the Adobe Story installer directory from https://story.adobe.com/AIR/AdobeStory.air
    - Double click on the downloaded installer to install it.

  • After installing 10.8.3 on Mac Pro, finder stops responding after 7-8 hours

A week or two ago I installed the 10.8.3 update to my Mac Pro at work. Ever since, towards the end of every work day, after 7-8 hours of continuous work, the finder will just stop responding. I am usually alerted to this by trying to open a new file, only it won't open. I am then unable to restart or **** down and am forced to do a hard shut down to turn off the machine. Upon starting up the machine again, I do a permissions repair, then restart again. Then everything will work fine for another 7-8 hours. If I leave my machine on overnight, it won't work when I arrive for work in the morning, and I'll have to repeat the process above.
I have tried running the free Maintenance software from Titanium Software, and that has not solved the problem. I was also concerned about font issues, so I ran the free version of FontDoctor, and it reported a bunch of things to fix. But I do not want to spend the $70 on the full version if that's not going to fix the problem.
I spoke with an IT guy I work with, and he said it might be worth dealing with the hassle until the 10.8.4 update arrives.
    Any other suggestions?

    Back up all data.
Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and the support article linked below for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them, then boot in safe mode* (by holding down the shift key at the startup chime) to rebuild the font caches. Boot again as usual and test.
    Mac 101: Font Book
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. In that case only, after running Font Book, launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    sudo atsutil databases -remove
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. After running the command, reboot as usual.

  • TMG Stops responding every 4 days / many connection drops with idle vpn connections

    Hi everyone!
I am running a TMG Firewall with about 200 users connected on Server 2008 R2 - patch level 7.0.9193.601.
It is virtualized on a Hyper-V 2008 R2. Additionally we have 4 IPsec Site2Site VPNs configured in Windows Advanced Firewall - as TMG doesn't provide such a comfortable way to configure them directly in TMG.
About 3 Months ago that TMG started to lose connectivity from time to time. At first we were not monitoring that problem precisely as we thought it was an isp issue but some days before christmas that tmg server just dropepd every outgoing connection
    and stopped listening!
I was able to control the server over hyper-v directly but no connection in or outbound could be established. (no VPN inc or surf outgoing)
I checked the event logs and there was NO other error than the errors from TMG connection verifiers...
As far as I was able to tell tmg still worked as far as logs and engine was conserned but no routing was done at all!
The last resort was to reboot the TMG then everything worked as before...
This behavior then appeard every 4 days... - simple workaround scheduled reboot every 3 days!
But that is no statisfying solution.... additionally some vpn users reported that their connections has quite annoying drops from time to time, unfortunately I was not able to trace the error.
Possible sources that I can exclude:
-Backup (online snapshot with ArcServe - the server was NOT saved)
-AV (Symantec Endpoint protection 12.1 - was uninstalled nothing changed)
    Any ideas??
    Best regards

    Hi,
opening a MS case seems not to be so easy...

I started collecting Perfmon data: everything seems to be OK.
    - hardly any backlogged packets
    - during working hours about 10 pages / sec (memory)
    Some Values:
Free System Page Table Entries: 33.555
Pool Nonpaged Bytes: 88.646.372 Bytes = 84,53 MB
Pool Paged Bytes: 266.842.112 Bytes = 254,48 MB
System Driver Total Bytes: 4.812.800 Bytes = 4,5MB
Handle Count (wspsrv): 11.338Private Bytes (wspsrv): 821.944.320 Bytes = 783,86 MB
Working Set (wspsrv): 609.697.792 Bytes = 581,4 MB
Virtual Bytes (wspsrv): 1.747.615.744 Bytes = 1,666 GBThread Count (wspsrv): 69
I'll keep collecting data for two days because my last reboot was 2 days ago - if my observations were correct TMG will stop responding monday morning or during lunchtime at latest.

  • [SOLVED]MacBook Air (3,2) keyboard and trackpad stop responding int...

Hey guys, I've now got arch running on my air perfectly I think, except for a random loss of trackpad and keyboard input. It happens even with a usb keyboard. I'm not sure if the whole laptop is freezing or only the inputs stop functioning, I believe it is the latter because things that blink or move onscreen like the cursor keep blinking. It happens both in X and out. I have no idea where to start for diagnosing.
My current kernel line is this:
options "ro root=LABEL=arch arch noapic irqpoll acpi=force noefi"
I'm using nouveau but it also happens using fbdev. I can't get nvidia to work, it just blacks out the screen when starting X.
    Any hints are welcome
EDIT: It just happened again, this time just after I clicked on a tab in firefox. I hit refresh, so the spinning circle came up on the tab, and the windows partially reloaded, then the mouse pointer stopped responding. The loading circle then stayed spinning indefinitely with the page failing to load any further.
    Further information:
I removed noapic, irqpoll, arch (is that even a valid kernel option?) and noefi from the kernel line for this boot so that all that was left was acpi=force and it still booted happily. I'm not sure if I need any of those, I can't remember why I added them, probably to fix this keyboard issue. I'm booting through rEFInd so maybe I shouldn't have that noefi entry anyway.

Solved, I removed all boot options and I'm guessing one of them was causing it.

  • Since installing the latest update firefox stops responding and hangs during use.

The only way I can get it to work is to shut it down and restart the application. I can open IE and access the sites which don't respond so it is definately a firefox problem. All firefox tabs stop responding including downloads. This is occurring every 2nd or 3rd page I open. Help - it's driving me insane!
