Air supply?

Hey, I have a question. Im getting a cinema display for my iMac and MacBook Pro Im not sure what one Im going to use it for. I just wanted to know if this had any air intake and/or outake?

Actually NONE is the incorrect answer.
The 27" Cinema display actually has a fan inside of it. The intake vent is located directly in the center behind the display, right above where the power plug inserts.
The vents for the fan are located at the bottom of the display, specifically at the left side. If you place your hand under this area after the display has been on for a few hours, you should feel some warm air being blown out.
Neither of these 2 areas should be covered, otherwise you may damage the display. There are no vents on top of the display for natural convection cooling to take place.

I already have an artist in my iTunes library called 'Air Supply', but now I've imported a song done by the artist 'Air', and attempting to just get it named 'Air' never works. The auto help thing always renames it 'Air Supply'.

type "xAir" and hit ok. go back into the artist field and remove the "x", then hit ok.

  • Major freezing problem on Macbook Pro 1,1

    Hello everyone,
My MacBook Pro has been experiencing some strange behaviour lately. I'll be doing any average computing task (nothing more than word processing or Internet browsing), and the current application will lock up. Any application I touch after that will lock up until the entire system is unresponsive, including dock and Finder. It is not responsive to the force quit menu command or any other stimulus.
If I remove the battery while the AC is plugged in, or lift the notebook up to get better air supply, this usually unfreezes things, making me think this is a temperature problem—but I can't be sure.
I have reset PRAM and SMC, run TechTool diagnostics, repaired permissions and verified disk, with no change. I have also entirely restored to backup through Time Machine to a week before the problems started, with no change.
    Does anyone have a suggestion?

Have you tried creating a new user account? If the freezing goes away, it would indicate a problem with your usual account.
How full is your hard drive? Do you have at least 15% free space on it?
You might want to check out the physical health of your hard drive with this utility:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/32454
You can download the demo and run it several times for free.
If your hard drive checks out OK, you may want to try reinstalling the OS. Be sure you have a good backup before you do.
    Good luck!

    Hello USME,
'Tis a common problem on old Macs.
Do as Allan says: open the door and blow out all the dust bunnies. Canned air from Wal-Mart or Radio Shack can be handy (though sort of expensive) especially for blowing through the back of the power supply. A cool Mac is a happy Mac.
Be sure your Mac can breathe. The air intake is on the bottom of the case, so be sure a deep pile rug or too many papers on your desk are not blocking the air supply.
Feel the power supply and the processor with your hand. They should be warm but not hot; if you have to move your hand away, that's too hot!
Check the fan on the power supply, and on the processor if it has one. Take a flashlight and peer in the back of the (Mac) case through  the grille; make sure the fan is turning. If it's not, the power supply won't work for long.
Fans are not considered serviceable, though they will succumb to mechanics of determination. A CPU fan is easy and straightforward.
A fan replacement will not cure an already damaged power supply; the PS may already be done for. Used power supplies for a DA are hard to come by, and not especially cheap when found (c.$50). An entire  working DA or Quicksilver may often be found for under $100 on eBay, and swapping in your HD is easy and simple... this might be cheaper and more expeditious than repairing an expired DA. Replacing a power supply is fairly easy, but it's a nuisance and requires a 2mm Allen head wrench in addition to the usual #2 Phillips head screwdriver.
In my experience, power supplies and CPUs are about equally likely to fail. There are a few other possibilities, but they are not nearly so common.
    Good luck!... Jon

  • USB drive and power

I have a new Air and I plugged my WD Passport into the USB. It did not work. Does the USB port on the Air supply power to the drive like on my MacBook Pro, or do I need an AC adapter for the drive?
    Thanks,

    Hi Kenneth,
Were you successful in trying the proposed steps outlined by the member above me?
Do you have access to an iPod or iPhone, or maybe another external device that draws more power than say... a mouse or keyboard?

  • China - Custom Tax, VAT Tax Handling

    Hi SAP friends
I have the problem of Import custom tax and VAT tax for puchasing.
It is Domestic Sales scenario. Need to purchase material from oversea vendor.
Oversea vendor sell mateiral to China company RMB 100 per PC.
Mainland company needs to pay custom for custom tax 20% and the custom tax is non-deductible. Custom tax is 100*(20%) = RMB 20.
Then, Mainland company needs to pay China government VAT tax(17%),
    VAT tax is 100(1+custom tax)(VAT tax)-100 = 100(1.2)(1.17) - 100 = 40.4
So, VAT tax amount = Material price * custom tax * VAT tax
In PO, I use ZOA1 custom condition type to input Cutom tax amount for Custom tax and input Tax code for VAT tax.
When good receipt, RMB 120 post to Material stock account. RMB 100 post to GR/IR. RMB20 post to custom account
    It still be fine.
When do LIV, RMB 100 clear GR/IR. RMB 17 post to VAT tax account becasue it use RMB 100 as base amount to calculate VAT tax. RMB117 post to AP vendor account.
Actually, mainland company only pays RMB100 to oversea vendor and the Tax amount should be include Custom amount. Corrrect VAT tax amount is 100(1.2)(1.17) - 100 = 40.4 (use RMB120 as base amount to calculate VAT tax), but not only RMB 17 . But, in LIV payment to vendor now is RMB120. It is not fulfill the requirement of mainland company.
Do anyone have experience about China Import purchasing material. And, would share how to settle the payment of vendor and how to make use (Material price + Custom tax amount) as base amount to calculate VAT tax amount?
Thanks a lot for your help!

It may helpful hint before going to configure.....abt the tax codes..
Value Added Tax (VAT) was implemented in China in 1984. Initially, the tax was levied on 24 specified
items. The need for constructing a socialist market economy system in China resulted in the proclamation
of 'The Provisional Regulation of the People's Republic of China on Value Added Tax' on January 1, 1994.
Value Added Tax in China is one of the important sources of fiscal revenues for the government,
especially the central government. The implementation of VAT is done by the State Administration of
Taxation while the customs collects the import VAT.
..******note this point it may helpful*********
The revenue earned from VAT is divided between the central (75%) and local government (25%).
The list of VAT taxable items and the rates in China can be understood from the following:
    Coverage of Collection
    Rate
    Exportation of goods
    Edible vegetable and grain duplicates
Agriculture, forestry, aquatic products, products of animal husbandry
    Book, magazines, newspapers

    17%
VAT in China is payable by individuals as well as enterprises who are associated with selling
merchandise, providing services related to processing, repairing and assembling and import of goods.
VAT Taxpayers in China are categorized into two sections, normal taxpayer and small taxpayer, depending
on the turnover of the goods and services on sale and the accounting system condition.
The amount of VAT payable by the normal taxpayer can be calculated by the following:
Output tax payable for the current period u2013 Input tax payable for the current period = Tax payable
The amount of VAT payable by the small taxpayer is as follows:
Sales amount x Applicable rate = Tax payable
(The applicable rate is 4% for commercial sectors and 6% for others)
Certain items and services are exempted from VAT. These include the following:
u2022  Instruments and equipment imported for direct use in scientific research, experiment and education

  • New MX922 Setup, nothing but blank pages - communicates fine with computer

I purchased and installed a new Pixma MX922 printer and connected it wirelessly to my home network.  Went through install, put in the ink cartridges (all light up) and attempted the print head alignment -- page came out blank.  I attempted this several times with sheets provided, same result.  Then tried the manual alignment, same result, blank page.  I have verified that the cartridges do not have any plastic left covering dispenser or air supply. I looked inside to make sure no protective covers remained (somewhere specific I should look?).  I installed the software on a laptop and connected and attempted to print, only a blank page.  I also connected via USB cable and ran Diagnose tool, didn't find any problems.  The feedback on this model is favorable, what am I missing?

    Hi bbgunwb,
Performing a series of cleanings and deep cleanings on the printer may resolve the issue you are experiencing.  Prior to performing the cleanings, please turn off the printer, unplug the power cord from the back and leave it out for at least 10 minutes, then plug it back in and turn the printer back on.  Next, please follow the steps located at the link below to perform the print head cleanings:
    PIXMA MX922 Print Head Cleanings
If ink still does not print on the page after performing at least one cleaning and two deep cleanings, or if you are unable to perform the print head cleanings, the printer will require servicing.  Please call or email us at one of the methods on the Contact Us page to obtain your servicing options.

  • ITunes duplicating artwork for same artist but different song.

iTunes is automatically adding artwork to another song of the same artist in my library. I import artwork for one track of an artist and iTunes applies that artwork to all tracks by the same artist. This is silly. They are all singles and I want each track to have the proper artwork.
I have tried deleting the duplicated artwork and adding its own but that doesnt help. I tried restarting iTunes as well.

Thanks for your help but its doesnt really apply to me.
Let me try to be more clear. I have 100 SINGLES that I have in an album that I named "1980 Top 100". I do this because I have 1981, 82, 83, 84..and so on.
Within this album I have a few artist with 2 or 3 singles. iTunes is automatically adding the artwork for "Air Supply - All Out Of Love" to "Air Supply - Lost In Love". I should be able to add a different artwork for each single an artist has within this album. However, I cannot seem to force iTunes to use the artwork I want for a track of the same artist.
THE REASON I BELIEVE THIS CAN BE FIXED:
From those 2 tracks by Air Supply, they each are showing different artwork in their info. Coverflow seems to be grouping the artists.
EDIT: In another album Im getting this:
CoverFlow is not grouping the artist but it is using the same artwork for both even though they each have their own separate artwork in the info...

  • Pressure regulator

Now i'm doing a project with labview which is about how to regulate the pressure inside the tube. Each time when we inject fuel into tube and at the other end we have another drive to drain the fule in order to keep the pressure constant inside the tube. But this two actions are not happen simutaneously. when we inject for a while and notice the pressure in the tube is out of the range we will began to let the empty valve to open. I have an idea but it's not so accurate. Is there any labview build-in regulating stuff that can accurately control the filling and emptying process? i have attached my vi, that is just a simple idea, the drain and fill vi is to generate pulse to control injector action. Right now we can not decide how big signal should give to injector that can give very accurate results. Is there any way to accurately offer pulse as we want. If some one have any idea about it, give me a hint is also ok.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi lisan2012,
I have attached the manual for the regulator (known as a beta positioner). Please see page 2 for the schematic. There are only two wires. I have confirmed this with a representative from the company, but they were unable to help with the wiring.
We have had this air supply system for a few years, and previously (before I came here) it was using a PC-AO-2DC card for the current output, and the connections were as follows:
Regulator (+) to +24VDC power supply
    Regulator (-) to PC-AO-2DC (ICH0 - pin 1)
    Power Supply (-) to PC-AO-2DC (AGND - pin 11)
(We are using an 'International Power' power supply which provides 24 VDC at 1.2 Amps.)
As I mentioned in my first problem statement, I have tried a similar setup with the PCI-6704 but that did not work.
Please let me know if you need anything else.
And thank you so much for your help.

  • Why won't it let me add my own music to playlists?

I was wanting to hear I Need You To Love Me by BarlowGirl (the real version, not the acoustic version Spotify has), and I started a new playlist to add a bunch of songs I have on my computer including that one. There were 20 songs I was trying to move into the playlist, and only two songs (Lost In Love by Air Supply and Love Me Tomorrow by Chicago) transferred. No matter what I do, it won't let me put those other 18 songs into the Spotify playlist. Also, I can't find most of my own music in the "Local Files" tab. I understand that not all the music in the world will be on Spotify, and I understand why The Beatles and others aren't on there, but why can't I make a Beatles "LOVE" playlist by dragging the album into Spotify? I am a Premium user, so I don't understand why I can't add whatever song I want to my own playlists.

Seriously Spotify team, PLEASE get on this issue! It's been like this for a majority of 2015 so far and no changes. I have to downgrade to an earlier version of Spotify to be able to create new playlists of local files that I've bought offline that Spotify doesn't have.  I think Spotify has been upgraded numerous times since this issue came to light and it STILL hasn't been fixed; every time there's an upgrade, instead of enjoying new features I have to curse and swear under my breath as I re-downgrade my spotify to be able to do this one very important thing (create local file playlists.)
This is a huge problem and should have been addressed immediately instead of just ignored for so long. PLEASE lets fix this issue so your users can actually USE your latest software!

  • Are they quiet?

I am considering purchasing an iMac Intel Core Duo 17" model, and my main concern is the noise. The Rev A. iMac G5 and my Rev A. PowerBook G4 12.1" are both very noisy in terms of the fan, is the iMac Intel Core Duo similar?
Have any built quality issues been highlighted with the iMac Intel Core Duo yet? I remember the previous iMacs (G5 rev A) having video card problems - I want to ensure the Intel Core Duo won't go wrong in some major way (Although I will purchase AppleCare).
    Thanks for your time.

Mine is totally quiet. I would really say silent for all practical purposes.
Though just occasionally, when it does make a noise, which lasts about a second, and usually coincides with a brief lag on the computer of similar duration (say playing Diablo with other apps running), it sounds like a Ferrari starting up!
I really don't know if this is fan noise or hard drive noise, but fortunately it has only happened half a dozen times in a month, and only lasts a second.
If it's fan noise I would expect it to happen a lot more in the summer though. Where I live it's cold in the winter and hot in the summer - I never hear a peep out of my G3 laptop in the winter, but in the summer I raise it off the desk to keep an air supply circulating to stop the fan going off.

  • Temps Still High

    Hello again,
The problem is that i feel my system is still running hotter that it should.  My room temp is always around 20-22 c  and my case has the following cooling
    2 x  80mm front botton intake fans,
    2 x 80mm side intake fans,
    2 x 80mm rear back outlet fans,
    1 x 80mm top outlet fan,
1 x 120mm fan blowing the trapped air supplied by the 2 front bottom intake fans through the HDD housings.
Graphics card has a Outside Thermal Exhaust System so all the hot air from that goes straight out the rear.
The power supply has a uplift fan above the CPU.
    CPU fan details in sig.
NB cooled by a copper HSF with  silver paste between.
AS5 Ceramic used for CPU (follows AS instructions)
    Rimsinks on SB also.
Rounded cable for all HDD, CDD & FDD.
All other cable tidy and out the way.
Every thing is running stable at stock speeds.
Look at my sig for details of system.
With this much air i would have thought for better results than @ idle CPU is 47-49 Deg C and NB is around 40 Deg C. (at load only about a 5 Deg C increase)
You advice would be greatfully recevied,
    worf105

Thanks Toenne for the quick reply,
That has put my mide at rest.  Would you expect there to be only a small temp increase if i were to run a 200 FSB with only a small Vcore (if required to be stable).
    Thanks again,

  • When I login to my bank, I get the message: 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied. Have new MacBook Air with Yosemite. How to solve this problem?

When I try to login to the website of my bank, I get the following error message:
403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.
You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.
I have a new MacBook Air with OS Yosemite installed.
What is the problem and how can I solve it?

Some websites require a special client certficate for access. If you don't have that certficate, you'll have to contact the site operator to find out how to get one.
Sometimes the problem is caused by a web server that is configured to request an optional client certificate. Safari treats the request as mandatory. In that case, other browsers such as Firefox and Chrome may be able to connect to the site, because they ignore the request.
The first time you were prompted for a certificate, you may have clicked through a dialog that requested access to the Apple certificate in your keychain that is used to secure the iMessage service. In that case, you may be able to regain access to the site in Safari by doing as follows.
    Back up all data.
Double-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    com.apple.idms.appleid.prd
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Paste into the search field in the Keychain Access window by clicking in it and pressing the key combination command-V. An item may appear in the list of keychain items. The Name will begin with string you searched for, and the Kind will be "certificate."
Delete the item by selecting it and pressing the delete key. It will be recreated automatically the next time you launch the Messages or FaceTime application.
The next time you visit a site that prompts for an optional client certificate, cancel out of the prompt. You may have to do this several times before the server stops asking.

  • My recently purchased IPad Air is not accepting it's own charger. It says the device is 'not certified'. Is there anything that I can do? It is the charger supplied with the iPad when purchased!

I recently purchased an IPad Air and it has been working fine for around 5 months. All of a sudden it has stopped charging and when I plug the charger in it displays a message saying,'this device is not certified and may not work correctly' (or similar). To be clear the charger is the same one that was supplied at time of buying the product and has worked fine up until now. I am loathed to buy another one as I have taken it back to where I got it from and tried a new cable and this did not work. Can anyone offer any advise? Thanks.

Ultimately if those things do not get it to work... the circuit board may be toast.
I've been hearing lately that people are having the same issue with their iPhones, a friend's experience with apple tech support in the store resulted in that explanation, and he was told to buy a new phone since it was over a year old.
