Air temperature's influence on Nokia N8-00

I'll try to be concise. When I go outside where it is colder than inside my Nokia N8-00 which was bought just a week ago starts malfunctioning. The difference in between temperatures is about only 15C (59F). For example when I am at home with the air temperature being at about 25C (77F) my Nokia performs well but as soon as I go outside to 5C (41F) the telephone starts malfunctioning and finally freezes up completely. When I come back home to 25C (77F) the telephone warms up and unfreezes a little which only enables me to switch it off and then turn it back on. Keeping it as it is for hours when we get back inside won't help. It has to be restarted. After this (already regular switch-off-switch-on procedure after getting inside) we are back to normal and fully operational. Now the question is if the model is supposed to be used in all-year-around-summer countries only? Our air temperatures get much lower than just 5C (41F) in winter (it gets to be -20C (-4F)) so I am afraid to think what will happen then?

Hi argie
Yes, one potential reason for the Lync sign-in failure has been found. Not sure if it's the issue in your case but please check with your server administrator that SSLv3 connections are enabled on the server side. Lync client uses SSLv3 for the communication and it has turned out that in some cases SSLv3 has been disabled on the server, causing the Lync sign in to fail.
The instructions for adjusting the SSLv3 setting can be found in the MS KB article below:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/187498/en-us
If SSL 3.0 is now disabled, turn it on and try signing in again.

@pj98
Hello,
Well, after more than a year, I can tell you now that the servers have SSL3 enabled. I am still unable to sign in. The support staf at my company was able to verify my connection attempts, with the server returning the standard messages to my device. Can you please provide some guidance?
Cheers,

  • How to calculate Min & Max temperature with just air temperature

    Hi Gurus,
I have a requirement in which I have to build a Bex Query in which I have to find the Min & Max temperature of a day if a specific date range is used in the query.I have checked the multiprovider and there is only one field available
which is "Air temperature" and it's a KF. I have built a query which will give you the temperature for the day if you give a particular date range.
My question is,is it possible for me to find the min and max temperature with just air temperature as input?
Please let me know your thoughts.
    Thanks,
    Raj

    Hi,
You have to create two KFs for Min and Max temperatures,
In  Min Temp KF definition, Aggregation Tab-->Minimum--> reference char as 0calday
In Max Temp KF definition, Aggregation tab-->Maximum-->Reference char as 0calday

  • Incoming air temperature TOO HOT!

Why does my Isight say that the incoming air temperature in my computer is 87 degrees when I keep my house cool at 71 degrees? Sometimes this leads my CPU to reach temps or 180 degrees! Wow! It's not clogged, I just had it apart putting a new HD in it. The problem started way before I opened it up. It's been doing this for a couple of years. Any thoughts.

    Hey matty,
I just had it apart putting a new HD in it.
Did you have/make the special tool for taking the front bezel off?
    It's not clogged,
Which part did you look at when you say this? I've got my logic board out for a GPU swap but I do have the fan and the CPU heat sink. It appears to be pretty straight foreword. A squirrel cage fan that pushes air into a radiator affair that's connected to the CPU heat sink via a heat transfer pipe.
Why does my Isight say that the incoming air temperature in my computer is 87 degrees when I keep my house cool at 71 degrees?
So it's not clear where the incoming air temperature sensor is. I at first thought that it could be defective but given that the CPU sensor is also sky high (What's the upper limit BTW?) that still says to me constricted air flow. When you had this apart did you check that CPU radiator? The place it would clog would be between the fan and input of the radiator. You'd have to remove the CPU fan.
I also seem to remember a problem w/ the fluid in that pipe. Did you see any evidence of leaks?
Another way to look at that elevated incoming air temp is that it's pulling air in from inside the case and that could easily be higher than room temp.

  • Nokia Pro Cam: Color Temperature / Balance

As a creative I purchased this phone as to take better photos. As it does that sometimes others the auto color balance doesn't get it correct. Using the limited manual settings isn't very good either as usually they are worse. If anyone at nokia reads this would you please consider adding in 3-4 steps between each color balance setting so if say "sunny" is too warm you can go a step in one direction or the other to fine tune how it looks. Adding this feature would really make it a better application and help get perfect photos everytime. As of now the iphone auto color balance tends to look betteer, eventhough the quality of the Nokia images are better if the color isn't as pleasing then its all for nothing. Please add finer color balance / color temperature controls to the Nokia Pro Cam application!!

Photoshop CC has made Camera RAW available as a filter. That means it is easy to use it on video.
Can you do anything in Camera RAW to a video that you can't do the hard way with color correction and levels, etc, in Premiere Pro? No. Is it easier because you are used to the sliders? You bet!
This first frame is from a video I shot to test the codecs my camera can use. The trees are rather dark, because, well, I didn't care when I shot the video. I was concerned with the movement of the juggling toys.
But if I take it into Photoshop and use Camera RAW I can do very quickly what would take a lot longer, for me, in Premiere Pro. You will have to take my word for it that the color of the shirt in the corrected frame is more realistic. The Camera RAW settings were pretty much what I do to almost all of my photographs. Very slight adjustment to exposure, a little clarity, bring out the shadows, bring down the highlights that are too white and bring up the contrast.

  • 5530 (probably) temperature problem

I have 5530  an year and a few months already. Approximately at second month it began rebooting automatically . Firstly thought that it's some software problem. ( Now I'm not sure is it really)So I found that it reboots only when device temperature decreases (for example - if I put it out from my pocket and air temperature is below 20 centigrade). And when display is locked it even turns off and won't turn on (only vibrates twice) till it's not warmed up again.
I did all upgrades since fw version 10.0.050 problem persists. My question is what kind of problem may it be ? Some software problem , battery problem or temperature sensor problem? (if it's software problem how can I solve it alone because the place I bought phone is really far for me).

It's hard for us to know what's causing this, but it's likley to believe it's hard ware related.
But first, did you do anything special to the device before it started to happen?
Have you installed a new memory card?
    Installed new 3rd party apps?
    Swapped Sim card?
But if you're sure that it behaves like this dependant on temp, I would take it to a Nokia care point for an inspection and possibly repair.
You can find your nearest care point here: http://europe.nokia.com/support/repair-and-recycle/repair/care-points

  • MSI kt600 FISR Delta temperature problem

Ok i have a problem with my temperatures of my watercooled system!
I installed the w/c on my new mobo just a few days ago and got some very strange temperature readings.
First my temperature of my proc = ~50 idle and 53 stressed!! which ofcourse is much to high for wc.
Now, i check the position of my waterblock 3 times, my pump, air in the system and so on and everything seems perfect!
Then i noticed that my the temperature of my Nordbrigde was very hot, so i installed a 120mm fan directly above it to cool it (with my case open). Suddenly the temperature of my processor dropped like a stone in water until it stopped at 40oC. The temps in the BIOS gave the same difference!
Now this seems a little odd to me?!! Why would a fan blowing air have any influence on my processor temperature???
Can it be that my Nordbrigde got so hot it influenced my temp. readings of my processor? Or did i do something very very stupid?
Does anyone have a any idea's?
    My specs:
    Zalman 400 watt;
    MSI kt600 FISR Delta;

Watercooling: (industrial radiator, Hydor L30, 172mm past fan,)

    Hello,
Bios 5.4 fixes a setting in the BIOS called CPU halt detection.
This can dramatically reduce the CPU temps when idle.
Without this setting on, the CPU temp is always close to the max temp.
    Like you said 50 -53.
Enable this option in the BIOS.
Now my PC is not watercooled and the temps are
    idle
34sys 41.5cpu (this was taken on the hot days we had)
max I haven't record any temps yet
    but its and ~40sys 52cpu
Aero7+ blower on min rpm ~1700
My CPU is only an XP1700+

  • How to measure a VXI board's thermal / air flow performance?

I am looking for information on requirements and testing procedures as they relate to the VXI bus and cooling. Specifically, I would like to make some temperature measurements on some VXI cards to see if the increase in airflow temperature (temperatuer of exhaust minus temperature of intake) is within 10 degrees C.
Quite a few documents reference a document called VXI-8 (Cooling Characterization Methodology Specification). I have not been able to locate this document. Would you happen to have it?
Also, any information you can provide on the best procedures for measuring temperature drop, pressure drop, air flow, etc. across a VXI card would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.

Thanks. But the document didn't really answer my question. Perhaps an example would be better.
The NI VXIpc-872B embedded controller, for example, has an ambient operating range of 5 to 50 °C. What exactly does this mean?
If you were performing a test to determine if the temperature of the VXI card is being exceeded, how would you do it?
Let's say you installed the controller in a VXI chassis (with integral cooling fan), put the chassis+card in an environmental chamber, and turned the unit on. One thermocouple measures the temperature entering the card (at the bottom), while another thermocouple measures the air temperature exiting the card (at the top). The chamber temperature's setpoint can be varied up and down.
In this example, would the intake air temperature (i.e. air temperature entering the bottom of the card) have to be less than 50 °C? Or would the exhaust air temperature (i.e. air temperature exiting the top of the card) have to be less than 50 °C? Or does it mean the surface temperature of any component on the board must be less than 50 °C?
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • Nokia's Strategy with Symbian, I really don't get ...

I've tried to let the dust settle a bit since the announcement last week and I've come to the conclusion that I really don't get it.
Now there have been a lot of conversations on these boards about it and I've tried to read as much as I can as I'm interested in what might happen with my N8.
But the more I think about it, the more it doesn't make sense!
Now I should say that I am not one of those who is against the partnership or Nokia and Microsoft, indeed it could be that Nokia's influence on the W7 OS will mean the Nokia devices in the future will be excellent. That remains to be seen.
My problem is with the Symbian side of things. Here's what I see:
The statement says that they want to sell 150m more Symbian devices in the next few years.
So how can they possibly do that without ensuring Symbian can compete with Android, thereby meaning that they have to keep updating it surely? Trying to modernise it.
But how can they do that whilst supporting WP7 as well? Surely the cost of that is massive.
The only way I can see this working is if Symbian and WP7 gradually start to come into line, looking the same and doing the same kind of things which means that Symbian will continue to get good updates.
If there are hundreds of millions of Symbian users out there then strategically it makes no sense to abandon them. Unless you do what I said in my previous statement.
But if you continue to invest in Symbian, what is the point in moving to WP7?
Well there may be some point in it, but the timing and scale of the announcement is ludicrous. By all means say "We are going in partnership with MS and in the next few years we will consider a transition to the windows platform". that works because it implies natural progression to a new OS without abandoning the other one.
So if you continue to invest in Symbian (which i think is the logical approach to keep loyal Nokia users), what happens if it gets good? Starts selling really well?
You have got yourself a stupid award for acting like a kid who thinks he's made a new friend only to realise his old friend was actually much more reliable and it turns out more popular as well.
So I've waffled a bit, but what i'm trying to say is that this is a lose/lose situation Nokia find themselves in. they either:
    1) Abandon loyal users, literally millions of them. Lose that business and pretty much might as well give up
    Or
    2) Continue to support Symbian and make it good and competitive, then why the hell is WP7 their only strategy?
OR, bring the 2 products together so we get used to the UI and functionality gradually so when it comes to getting a new phone, the WP7 OS feels like an old friend. Surely that's it isn't it? Nokia's influence on Windows will actually be greater than the Microsoft influence on Nokia?????? That's the only sensible conclusion I can come to!

  • What exactly does "system temperature" mean in bios?

    Hi.
I have a Ne0 FIS2R PCB 1 with frequent game crashes & i recently installed asetek´s watercooling kit wich is cooling the cpu & Northbridge.
The bios says the CPU is 34 Degrees Celsius which is perfectly fine.
But the system temperature says 52 Degrees.
Is system temperature the air temperature inside the case? The manual doesn´t say.
    Thanks in advance.

The sys temp in the basic temp arround your mobo. (or Inside you case)
That's kinda warm, mine is 35deg/ c and the air temp is 23.

  • Temperature/fans - how hot is TOO hot?

Sorry to bring up a much-discussed topic again ... but having spent much time sifting this forum, I can't get any clear or definitive answers to the simple question: what are the acceptable temperature ranges for the Mac Pro.
My OWC-supplied Apple-approved 9 gigs of RAM is very often running at 170F/77C, (while working on media projects) according to Hardware Monitor but the fan speeds never seem to go higher than 600 RPM. This is with ambient air temperature of around 68F/20C.
OWC say 'don't worry'. Are they right??? Thanks for any answers!

My video card in my MacPro 2.66, a Radion X1900 runs hot and renders random triangles on the screen when playing WoW. I use SMC fan control (link above) to set the fans' speed up. I have to keep the Expansion Bay heat sensor below 95 degrees F in order to not have visual defects (artifacts).
This means setting the fans above 1200 rpm at times. It does get hot (90's) in southern California.
Only rarely does the Mac speed up its fans on its own. I am convinced this is a defect. Jobs has a psuedoreligeous hate thing about fans and fan noise. From the very first 128k Mac, Macs have run very hot when not in an air conditioned environment. This has caused problems with reliability. I had to open my original Mac and resoldier joints that had failed due to the heat problem. Now, with the new generation, my video card is overheating.

  • Controlling and Acquiring Temperatures simultaneously

Hello all, Setup: I'm running an experiment where I'm heating air and measuring its temperature at various points through a system. I'm operating the heaters using a Heater control (OMEGA CN4000 series temperature controller). The thermocouples (K-type) measuring air temperatures are going into the DAQ board (SCB-68). I'm using an analog input step in SignalExpress to measure thermocouple temperatures. I’ve attached my SignalExpress file to this thread.  Problem: What I want to do is to display the thermocouple temperatures in the Heater control as a processed variable while I change the set point. Simultaneously I want to record the temperatures using SignalExpress. I’ve tried to do this by taking in Voltage from my thermocouple inputs on the board and generating an output voltage through my analog output channels on the board. However, this has’nt worked very well. I see two major problems:-          The program does’nt allow me to acquire Voltage and thermocouple temperatures simultaneously from the same channels.-          Even if I acquire only the Voltage from the board and feed it directly into my Heater Controller, the temperatures displayed are completely incorrect. I’m completely new with DAQ, so I’ll need a lot of help with this. Help greatly Appreciated,Ronak

  • Can high cpu temperature melt processor?

Hallo, mayby stupid question, but i was just wondering, if high temperature inside my macbook air (2012 i5) can melt my processor or something like that...
I am talking about 85 C continuosly1 or max 2 hours per day at cpu (oc course not every day) :/ i dont want to demage my mac...
    Thx for any answers.

High enough temperatures can melt anything, but your mackbook air is designed to operate continuously, with fans to manage CPU temp.  As long as you are in an environment where the air temperature is within standard (10 to 35C), your macbook is fine.

  • Firstly hello to all. I'm looking to create a vi that will take a single logged output from a thermocouple and monitor the temperature and produce a Boolean when the temperature has stabilised for a pre determined time say 1minuet.

Firstly hello to all. I’m looking to create a vi that will
take a single logged output from a thermocouple and monitor the temperature and
produce a Boolean when the temperature has stabilised for a pre determined time
say 1minuet. I have managed to find a couple of examples on the forum but one
will only run on V8.2 and I have V8, the other is for more than one channel
witch is fine I can always reduce this, but it was the timing feature I was
having difficulty with. I looking to monitor the temperature of a motor until
it has stabilised prior to testing and then to use this temperature as a
reference. Pleas forgive my ignorance if this is a very simple thing but I’ am
learning and really enjoying it. Thank you in advance for your answers.

    Hi
Graham, thank you for you reply.
What I’ am trying to achieve is a vi I can use in a motor
testing setup, a part of this would be to warm the motor up until the exhaust
air temperature has stabilised, this takes approximately 10 minuets. I was
thinking of just letting the motor run for this time and leave it at this, but
some motors warm up quicker that others and. I am basically looking for a vi with
an adjustable temperature window of say ±5 C° in 1° increments, timing wise 1minuet
to 10min the adjustment is so I a can use this for another application. I tried
to adjust the code I found at the link below but had a little difficulty with
the timing. Thank you so much for your help it’s much appreciated.

  • Ambient air temp

    Hi dear Imac Gurus,
I have replace my HDD by an SSD in my IMAC 27 Mid- 2011, but now when I restart my IMAC the CPU fan get crazy and blow at 3700 rpm.
This is not the HDD Fan It is the CPU fan and my Incoming Air temperature is 128 celsius degree just after the starting.
I have try to unplug the ambien temp in the bottom left corner of the mainboard but It does not Help still 128 degree.
Have you encounter that kind of problem ?
I have try the smart reset thing but It does not help
If someone can help, I am going Mad with that bloody Fan.
    Regards
    Jean-Louis

    Bonjour Jean-Louis,
128 C, wow that is hot...obviously not a realistic number.  Are you sure when you did the switch to SSD something did not get reconnected incorrectly?  Have you tried running the Apple Hardware Test program to see if it detects a problem?  It may be necessary to visit the Apple store genius bar and have the techs run their diagnostic software to see just what is going wrong, that temperature cannot be accurate.

  • Temperature measurement using USB 6351

I am using a T thermocouple and I am using the DAQ, USB 6351.  What would be the most accurate LabVIEW program just to measure the air temperature?  When I use Acq Thermocouple Signal.vi it runs through many samples and does not seem even close to accurate (I am getting readings between 16 and 21 C and inside this building it is closer to the low to mid 20's).  Any suggestions?  And can the USB 6351 give me temperature readings that are +/- 3C accuracy?
    -ncm

    Hello ncm,
We'll need more information about your setup before offering specific advice (To start with- what measurements do you expect?), but in general you'll want to average multiple samples when acquiring from a thermocouple- they are generally quite noisy, particularly when used to measure air temperature.  Air currents are rarely as static as you think they are.
Some things to keep in mind:
-Cold junction compensation (manual vs. automatic)
    -Thermocouple accuracy
-DAQ Analog input range (smaller range will give you higher resolution, which is important when measuring small signals such as the uV differential coming from your thermocouple)
The X-series USB DAQ has a pretty wide range of capabilities and should be able to acquire high-accuracy signals from just about any basic sensor with proper conditioning and a suitable task configuration.  I would posit that your limiting factor is going to be the accuracy of the thermocouple itself. +/- 3 degrees C should absolutely be achievable.
Here are a few things I'd recommend reading through:
