[AIR] UI View Handeling

Hello everyone,
I am a new Flex and Air developer who loves to work with all the featers given by adobe to build small and large desktop application. I always used the viewStack component to show all my custom compontents in the application. For example the same idea you have on a webpage.
I never figured out how to manage all these components. So that if I have a mailing form shown in the application, and if you push the submit button... you go to a following screen saying the mail has been send.
I'm learning the Swiz framework right now... is there anything inside there or something?.
Well, I hope people understand me and are able to help me.
Kind regards,
Wimbo

Well, Like you have a application like Microsoft Word for example... all the menu's and options are always on the same position. But all the changes appear in the main screen... so if your writing a simple text you just type, but if you are typing some text on a envelope, the main view changes.
Man this is so hard to explain... basicly its how you manage all the custom components in the center screen without changing all the default menu's around it.
My english sucks at the moment... just woke up

  • Customizable skins for AIR Help viewer?

    Hello all,
Testing this new AIR help output in RH8 on my projects, I
already find it difficult to revert to Webhelp or HTML Help. Really
    good things in it!
However, I was wondering whether the AIR Help viewer skins
would be customizable... Does anyone know how to do this? Or is
there a skin gallery for AIR help somewhere?
I might be asking too much so early after RH8 release but
with only three skins available, I feel a bit frustrated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Dominique

    Hi, Dominique!
I agree that we only have a "taste" of the potential of can
be done with AIR help. It is still very new and evolving. The
templates generally dictate the functionality and the "skins" form
the cosmetic appearance. Right now you sometimes have to make
difficult choices between functionality vs. appearance and
obviously we would like to have control over both!
I have been able to chat with Adobe folks about this and they
seem very open to making improvements. This will be tops on my
personal "wish list" when I visit with them at WritersUA in
Seattle, March 29. (Peter and Rick Stone will be there as well.
    Perhaps you will be there?)
Stay tuned. I think you will be hearing more about this in
    the future.
    Thanks,

  • Can I use my macbook air to view video from my camcorder

I have a Panasonic HDC S9 HD digital vide camera, which has a mini HDMI port to coonect to an external monitor to view playback directly from the camera
I have a Macbook Air 13" bought 5 months ago
I have bought a thunderbolt to HDMI cable and have used that to connect the Air to the video camera via HDMI
But I dont see how to see the playback from the camera on the air.
    Any ideas?
I am hoping that I am not about to be told that the Air will only export video via the thunderbolt port and will not allow video IN to show on the Air screen... please help?
    Many thanks

    Thanks SP
But I need to do something more immediate than that.
One of the things my partner does is to advise her clients on their presentation skills. So she wants to video them doing a presnettation to her, and then immediatley play it back so they can both look at it whilst she critiques it.
There is no time to transfer video files and move between aplications.
If we connect the video camer via HDMI to the TV, we can play back clips on the TV directly from the camera - no need for data transfers
What I want to do is use the Air as the TV monitor for this playback so she can do this on client site in any room with her own equipment - not needing a TV
I had hoped that buying the thunderbolt to HDMI lead would enable the Air to act as the out put monitor
But I cannot see how to get that to work

  • IPad Air - Calendar Viewing Configuration

I am a new entrant into the Apple ownership world and recently purchased an iPad Air.  I have a question regarding the Calendar application and the viewing setup in the Day view.
I have several calendars (work and home) setup.  When viewing a day, there is a left "frame" shown with the appointments by time (hourly).  On the right, there is a "frame" that shows the details.  My desire is to be able to close the right detail frame to allow the viewing of more overall calendar information and have that detail frame re-appear when I tap on a specific appointment.  Is this possible?
I had also read some tutorials on the web that referenced a 3 day view in previous versions and am wondering if that exists with the current version (IOS 7?).
    Thank You.
    Terry

There is no "three day view", and if there ever was, it has been quite some time ago. Nor is the view layout configurable. If you tap the search icon (looking gklass, upper right) it will display a concise list of events, defaulting to the current day if you do not actually type in a search term (this works regardless of the current view you are in)

MMy iPad Air will not let me view downloaded photos in mail or let me save any from web sites such as ebay. There are no restrictions on in my general photo setting. Help

    Hi Penelope,
To find the same settings in Firefox on Mac:
    1. Launch Firefox
    2. Click on Firefox > Preferences > Applications > Content Type "Portable Document Format(PDF) and associate it to open with "Use Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in...."

  • Journe Air 1000 view / copy from picasa

    Hi.
Is there really no way that this neat and very expencive piece of hardware can slideshow-view pictures from picasa? Do I really have to sit and push "next picture" on the remote all the time?
The guy in the shop also said it was supposed to auto-download the files from picasa, but it obviously doesn't. I've tried to set "auto copy on" in the normal picture browser option, but it doesn't seem to work.
The picasa-implementation can't really be that bad, that you have to copy every single file, or hit the next-button all the time?
I tried to add a flickr-account to see if this was any better, but then the screen just goes all green, and I have to turn it off and back on again to get it to respond.
And also, one third problem. It says that it supports wpa/wpa2 with psk, but it doesn't... We've got 5 different gadgets connected to this router on wpa2-psk, but the air 1000 simply will not connect, we had to go to wep.
No firmwareupdates were found in your support-section.
Hope you can clarify some of these problems for me, or if I'm really lucky have a fw-upgrade that fixes all of these problems.
    Best regards, Magnus

I see that the user manual states that WPA/WPA2-PSK encryption should be supported, I'm just saying it doesn't work. After inserting password, it tries to connect for a couple of minutes, before stating that it's unable to make a connection.
As there are no options in picasa except to push "next" all the time, or +copy every single picture, one by one+, this seems like a product that are not very well thought trough, and unfinished...

  • View mp4 miles on ipad air

How do you view mp4 files on ipad air.  I have the files in ITunes but how do I move them over to Ipad Air to view?  I think I'm syncing them but they aren't showing up on ipad air

You need to import those files into iTunes (Add them to your library), then connect your iPad to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your device, navigate to the video tab, choose those files and sync.

  • Can I use a macbook air for the screen when using a mac mini?

Trying to figure out if I have a mac mini, can I hook up my macbook air and use the screen from the air to view what is on my mac mini?

No. That feature is only available on iMacs.

  • Mac Air and Apple TV, before I buy question

    Hello,
This is a before I buy Apple TV question.
    1. Can I control iTunes and movies in my Mac Air to view on my Samsung TV which will have Apple TV connected to it? In other words, I want to sometimes be able to "DJ" my music or launch movies directly out of the Mac Air (I just want to know if I can do it)
    2. When using Apple TV via its remote  on my Samsung TV, can Apple TV see my iTunes Match/cloud and play it? (on the Samsung TV) Or does Apple TV only play music or movies stored in my Mac Air?
    Thank you
    S

    1. You can always mirror your mac on your TV using AirPlay (sound and video).
You can also directly use you Apple TV to play music stored on your mac.
Both solutions works. I personnaly prefer to stream music and movies from my Ipad/mac to my Apple TV, I do it all the time.
    2. Hum, I dont use itunes match, I couldnt tell.

  • Adobe Air in RH 8 - rejected

Until Adobe figures out a better way to package this type of Help, I don’t see it as a viable solution to our needs.
Main reasons I see to reject this feature as incomplete and not correctly implemented:
Unreasonable requirement to install it as a standalone application, with its own entry in the Add/Remove list of the operating system.
Windows certificate requirement is not a desirable feature for many customers, nor us who must purchase a certificate and renew it from one of the certificate vendors.
The only benefits beyond WebHelp are:
Single file distribution (but requires a rather lengthy installation for large help projects)
Customer feedback on help topics and dynamic help content refresh (requires customer to allow users an external connection to our server, which does not follow many corporate IT security models)

Q: if you ship multiple help files (*.rha files marked with a unique ID) within a container, can you later add additional help files for different products?
A: Yes. You can later add more help files for different products. The product installer will deploy the .helpcfg and .rha files needed on end user machines.
    Regarding the cost of certificates:
Typically, you would use the same certificate across the enterprise, unless there is a need for something different.
For example, let's assume that you ship 15 products per year, and the total end machines where the Help Viewer is installed is 100,000.
If you pay $300 per year, then the cost to reach a single desktop is $.003
I don't have the expertise to comment on certificate vs. other security mechanisms so i'll defer to your view.
Addressing the other concerns raised here:
AIR is very successful today, with over 120 million downloads by users. Over 25 million AIR applications have been installed by users since launch. AIR applications include the Time 100 desktop application from Time.com and the Ebay desktop from Ebay.com. You can find a large list of applications in the Adobe Marketplace.
However, if you feel that the AIR Help Viewer needs enhancements then please do fill in our feature request form. Alternatively, I can setup a time for a direct discussion.
We really appreciate the fact that our users are as passionate about our products as we are, and this keeps us motivated to constantly improve our deliverables. Thank you for providing feedback here.

  • Rendering issue on Samsung S4 (specific models) with AIR app

We have an Android/IOS app compiled with AIR 3.9. It works fine for all devices but some specific models of Samsung S4. First let me describe the device models & compilation details, as below:
    > Issue found on devices (given models only, on other S4(s) works fine):
         - Samsung Galaxy S4 (Model No. SGH-M919)
         - Samsung Galaxy S4 (Model No. SCH-I545)
    > Compilation:
         - AIR 3.9 (also with 3.8)
         - Render Mode GPU
         - Bitmap graphcis
    > Problem:
There problem is with redering of grpahics speically which are masked. Either those masked graphcis doesn't display at all OR display in wrong layer (also distracted) when Display List realted to that object is manipaulated i.e. A child object is added to the parent of masked object & the masked object appears above it which was previously not visible. Some masked obejcts are not displayed at all.
    > Observation:
It was same with CPU mode rendering however when the render mode is changed to AUTO the issue is resovled. But then app is preforming too slow as it uses all bitmap graphcis.
It seems the specfic S4 models are using different type of GPU, though it should not create such weird issue. Can anybody suggest possible solution for this? OR have faced sismilar behavior on said devices ?

  • Simple E-Book Air App sample

I thought I'd  post my links as I finally was able to create a working sample.
I wanted to create the files in inDesign, which I did. For speed and to same the page curl, I eventually used a preloader to import the file into Flash. I added sme detail in Flash. I then comipled to an Air App. It worked!! eventually....
I did initially port the inDesign into Flash, and have begun reworking it fully in Flash as well, But that will take more time, and the inDesign version has nice page transitions.
It is very simple, and the interface is not yet fully built. I need to add menus, etc. And I want to create more interactive pages now. But it is a beginning.
There is an Air App, and a SWF
If you click on the Air app, it saves the installer. Once intalled you have to have air, to view it. I included the SWF for those on a desktop, who had no interest in looking at the Air file.
Thanks for all the help and patience with my dumb questions.
    e
I thought I'd upload a link to my file, since I have finally had some success.
It  was created in inDesign. Flash was used to make some changes. It was  saved as an Air app. I have the swf, and the Air App installer on the  site.
It  is just the first 3 pages of an interactive book. Really simple.
    Thanks for all the help

No, there are other components that exhibit this same
behavior, like sorting columns. Some investigation by others have
led us to conclude it has to do with how AIR hands off events to
the sub windows. Each subwindow then hands it off to all the other
subwindows, in a recursive loop that takes longer (obviously) the
more windows there are. After about 6, the logarithmics of it all
    break things.

  • Pro vs. Air:  Can you translate the differences into user terms vs tech specs?

    Hi,
I have a MBP, bought in '06, that is dying a slow death (crashing constantly).  I'm not up on what the latest spec's mean in terms of USER EXPERIENCE.  Apple doesn't seem to know how to market to me--no product comparisons (in direct user experience vs. tech spec's), no analogies, no examples of how new MBPs and Airs differ or what their targeted user profile really is.
Can anyone provide some reasons for their choice of a new Pro or Air?  Beyond the obvious:  Air is lighter (what is sacrificed?).
Many thanks for your personal comparison/experience.

I'm very interested in doing some layered visual art with something like Adobe PhotoShop or Elements.  And expect to do some video editing of home movies (grandkids, family).
As long as you are only doing light photoshop and video editing an air should be fine, however check the tech requirements of the software you plan to use before purchasing a mac.  You don't want a mac that only meets the minimum requiremnents to run the software.
One point of confusion for me is the optical drive.  How does an Air user view DVDs and download CDs (music)?

  • Is AIR the right output to use?

    Hello there.
So, let me preface this by saying I don't know a lot about using AIR to view help content nor the limitations an AIR output has. I've built a test file once and played around with it some back in RH 7.
Until now our company has used HtmlHelp (CHM) as our output format, but we're starting a new product, and we need it to have a modern look and feel as well as have the ability to store, display and moderate user comments on topics. Initially, I'm thinking the RoboHelp AIR output might be a good match.
    What we need:
The help must be context sentive.
The help must be dockable inside the UI.
The help must allow user commenting (similar to that shown in the AIR examples).
The help must reside locally but have the ability to grab user comments for any who have access to the internet.
One possible problem is our product will have its user interface done using WPF. My first concern is can a WPF user interface support F1 context sensitivty in an AIR  output? Some posts say perhaps it cannot (such as  http://forums.adobe.com/message/2145088).
Also, can you dock an AIR output inside a UI?
If AIR isn't the right output, what would you recommend for the above requirements?
Hope all this makes sense. This is all new to me.
    Many thanks!
    (RoboHelp 9, Windows 7 64-bit)

    Thanks for the answers guys.
I don't see C# as a supported language here, so maybe that won't work for us then:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe RoboHelp 9\CSH API
We do already have RH 9.
We do not have the RH 9 Server. Is this needed for the user comments from the internet? From this help topic, it sounds like you might be able to do it some other way.
    From the Rh 9 help:
Set Location For Comments And Topic Ratings
Depending on whether you want a trust-based system or user authentication, select one of the following options:
Select  Network Folder. Click Browse to choose the shared network folder where  the comments will be stored. Click Add to add locations on Mac and Linux  systems if required. See URL formats for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Specify the password that moderators need to provide to access the moderation dashboard.
Select  Pending or Accepted to specify how you want to handle unmoderated  comments. If you select Pending, unmoderated comments are not displayed  to users.
Storing  comments in a shared network folder is suitable in trust-based work  environments, where shared reviews by internal stakeholders are part of  the content development process.
    Select RoboHelp Server and
    specify the server URL.
Storing comments on RoboHelp Server enables you to authenticate users before allowing them to view or post comments.
    Configuration File Path
Specify  the path and name of the file that stores the configuration for comment  syncing and auto-update. When the AIR application is distributed, users  can copy the default configuration file from the !SSL folder of the  project to the location specified in the configuration file path and  modify the default settings according to their preferences. For example,  they can disable commenting or change the location of storing comments. You can enter the path in any of the following formats:
A relative path (relative to the install folder)
An absolute location, such as a shared network drive or a file location in the user drive
A web URL pointing to the location where you’ve posted the XML file
    Thanks for the help.
