Air update ruined installation.
On my secondary computer I tried to open Story only to have it suggest it needed to update and/or update Adobe Air. After the update, starting Story gave a generic error-- then it's as if it's unistalled or something. The folder is still there, but it says 'access denied' if I try to browse to it. C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe Story
Pretty frustrating stuff. Any ideas? It seems like the current version of this software is not yet ready for primetime.

Open System Preferences, select Energy Saver and disable Automatic graphics switching (or use a third party GPU switcher, such as gfxCardStatus and enable the Nvidia GPU

Mac Installation: AIR update needed to continue, then error in registration panel
After uninstalling CFEclipse, CFBuilder Beta, Aptana and loading Eclipse in clean mode, I installed the plugin on my macbook pro intel. The first error I got was something to do with the incorrect AIR plugin and the message posted a link to the download site. I of course didn;t copy the link and then later was planning on googling it. Then once the restart of Eclipse happened, there was a second error saying that ColdFusion Builer could not load the registration and I had two choices, okay or cancel. Now after googling for this issue it does not seem that anyone else has had this problem. There is something related to AIR and the installation that caused it to fail. This was after uninstalling everything except my Java and Andriod plugins (JUnit, JAutodoc, Ant, Groovy, FindBugs, Android SDK, etc).
Okay I figured it out after some digging into the AIR issue.
For Mac users, if you don't have AIR installed you will need it for CFBuilder. Now the caveat is that AIR installs improperly because once installed uses only System user permissions. By default it does not have Administrator permissions so you need to go and reset the permissions for it to works properly. You will see this if you navigate to /Library/Frameworks/Adobe AIR.framework. This directory needs to be set to Admin read/write perissions and apply to all subdirectories. Then go ahead and install ColdFusion Builder and it installs without any issues. You still need to configure any application templates to have the builder plugin as the default editor if you are installing on top of a pre installation of Eclipse that previously had Aptana and CFEclipse installed. I'm not sure if this is an AIR or ColdFusion Builder bug but it is certainly going to cause Mac users some pain if this issue isn't either reconciled or documented. -
Adobe Air update install fails
I have been using Acrobat.com as a desktop application. As of
today, every time I launch the application, I get an update
notification about an update for the Adobe Air platform for
Acrobat.com. When I click to update, the installation fails, and
the error message tells me to contact the autor of the application.
Do you know anything about this?I have Acrobat.com installed on my system and I became aware
of an update which I understand to be called Acrobat.com AIR.
I downloaded Acrobat.com AIR but when it was installing, a
message appeared which read, "Same version as installed version."
Then I was given the option to "Un-install", the currently
installed Acrobat.com, "Save" or "Cancel".
Since I wasn't sure of the outcome, I canceled the process to
play it safe. Was I being overly cautious? -
Error 1620 During AIR Update and AIR App updates
On of our customers is having repeated problems installing our application update on Windows XP SP3. I checked the install.log and see that the most recent error he is getting is Windows Installer Error 1620, but my research has not turned up very much helpful information about that error. Do you know what might cause this?

Thanks so much for the quick response. After he investigated further, he determined that it was Comodo Internet Security Premium. He disabled it, uninstalled, and then reinstalled both AIR and You Need a Budget (our product), and it worked great after that! Thanks again for the quick response.

I am trying to create an update system of my Air program. The first application (release) is created in EXE (native installer). The new version is made to a Air file (AIR package). I get an error in the and of installation - An unexpected error occurred. Error# 16828 - Air Update.
If I make the first releaseas as AIR package, then this error does not occur and the updates take place correctly.Hi,
I'm exactly sure what you're trying to do, but the error you mentioned (16828) equals:
Cannot update application, usually because the application is running in the AIR Debug Launcher (ADL)
Is your app still running while you're trying to do the update? You might want to take a look at the following developer article that discusses techniques available for updating natively installed applications.
Updating Adobe AIR applications packaged with a native installer
fwiw, I tried a simple test where I created a native installer app, installed, launched, quit, then created a .air version of the installer and "replaced" the version I had previously installed by double clicking the .air file. That worked fine and the app launched as expected.

I installed the AIR update for flash cs3, when I boot flash
on the welcome screen there is now a "create new Air document"
option in it to create new air documents.
However if I already have a file open in flash I cannot see
the welcome screen and when I go to FILE>NEW there is still no
option for a new AIR document. this is becoming very frustarting
because if I have several files open I have to close everyone to
get the welcome screen back so I can create a new Air File.
Is there a way to atleast get the welcome screen to show up
when other files or open or any other way to create a new air file
without having to close every other open file???
Thanks!You can, instead, create a new standard Flash document then
go to the "publish settings" and select the AIR profile. This
should convert the Flash doc to an AIR doc. You still may have to
edit the the "AIR - Application and Installer Settings", though.

Adobe AIR update for Flash CS3
Hi, i'm having some trouble installing the adobe air update
for flash CS3.
I've installed it like 5 times, it always says that the
installation is complete.
But when i go to flash and try to make an AIR file it's not
in the list, the only things i see are those:

Everything goes well on install, but when we launch our application, it logically propose our customer to update to the last version of Air.

The most disturbing is that if we close our application and run the updater alone, everything goes well, and our application is running perfectly.

AntoineI've seen this error before in a few posts, but I don't think I've seen a solution or exact cause. Are you seeing this on every system you try or is it isolated to particular machines? If it's occurring everywhere, would you be willing to send me ([email protected]) your installer so I can give it a try?

Adobe Air not allowing installation of new program
Hello,
I recently purchased a new Lenovo Thinkpad laptop running Windows 7 and when I attempt to install my school review program, I get this error message:
"The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author."
I have uninstalled and reinstalled all adobe software on my computer several times while restarting it between installations and still no luck. I do not know if maybe there is a different version of Adobe air that I need to install? I tried installing the software included on the CD as well as the newest version from the Adobe website. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Air Update Framework Issue... Help please!
The following code is from the Air Employee Directory example
to which I have added an Update Object, the app installs and
updates with no problem, but as soon as the update is done and it's
time for the app to start, the app just doesn't come up. It was

</mx:Application>This was an issue with the Update Framework in AIR SDK 1.5.3, which has been fixed. If you still want to use the ApplicationUpdaterUI, you can replace the swc in Flex SDK 3.6 with an applicationupdater_ui.swc from a newer version of AIR.

Air update phone firmware version
How do you update phone firmware version?
1. Download Nokia pc suite and use NSU or Nokia ovisuite (For Windows User only)
2. Try over the Air update (MAC/Windows User)
If your mobile data rates allow, try doing an over the air update. Support varies by phone, variant and software
Go to tools >Utilities> Device manager (location may vary by device)
There should be an updates tab
This functionality may not be available in your device. Contact your service provider for more information
To view or update the current software version of your device or to check the date of a possible previous update, select Menu> Tools> Utilities> Device mngr
To check whether software updates are available select Options> Check for Updates
First off BACK UP YOUR DEVICE! make sure you have a back up of the memory card and also the device memory and make sure that the battery of your device has enough power or connect the chager before starting update. To start the update select access point. The device starts to download the device data.
When the data is downloaded the update description is displayed. Select Accept to accept the download of the update package or cancel to cancel the download. IT may take several minutes and you can use your device during the download but not during installation time.
Server Profile Settings
Menu> tools> utilities> Device Manager
to add a new server profile seleat Options> New server profile.
Contact your service provider for correct settings
Server name- Enter a name for the configuration server
Server Id- Enter the unique ID to identify the configuaration server
Server Password- Enter a password to identify your device to server
Access point- Select the access point to connect to the server
Host Address- Enter the url address of server
Port-Enter the port number of the server
User name & password- Enter your username and password for the server
Allow configuration- To allow receiving configuration settings from this server select yes
Auto Accept all requests-To have your device ask for your confirmation before accepting configuration from this server. Select NO
Network Authentication- Select if network authentication is used. Enter your Network username and Network password to identify your device to the server.

AIR Update Proccess and the File System
I have a client who’s using a 3rd party installer to install their AIR. They’re doing this because they’ve got a large amount of content (600mb) and the typical packaging process is falling over. We’ve got a workable solution where we install the content into the app directory (/Applications/OurApp) via the 3rd party installer after the AIR app is installed, but we’re a bit concerned that the directory may get blown away with a future update on our part using the standard air updater process.
We’ve tested on mac and windows and everything seems to be OK, ie our content files seem to stay intact. I’m wondering though, is this just a happy mistake? Is what we’re doing safe or should we go about it in a different way? Should we be storing our content outside of the application directory? I’m concerned this process may change in a future version of AIR and all of our content will disappear.
I know the forum is closing soon, but I figured this could be relevant because it relates to future versions of AIR.This is a situation I'm dealing with -- where 3rd party java (DataCash credit card gateway) insists on accessing filesystem based resources, in particular binary files containing card information (bin ranges etc to work out what bankk/country issued a card). We have no control over how this accesses these two files; it insists on a filesystem based path location like "C://Java//DataCash-Java-2.0.10//cardinfo".
Just feeding it a package location doesn't work, nor has using the classloader to point to the actual location to derive something like: "jar:file:/C:/Java/jboss-3.0.4/server/betex/tmp/deploy/blahblah/blah.ear/81.blah/blah.jar!/com/ourpackage/blah/blah" (even if I strip off the jar:file:/ bit)
All we know about the client code is that the reference to the file is initialised using the File(String pathname) constructor of the java.io.File object.
I'm currently looking at the jakarta commons VFS package for a solution, but without success so far (I have an odd compilation issue to resolve).
So any tips/pointers greatly appreciated. -
OMG, after last AIR update before current ALL my AIR apps will not work, HELP!
I have 5 or 6 AIR based apps after I did an update last month, none of them will work. I just re-installed and updated AIR again today and re-installed all the apps multiple times and when I go to one it trys to open the last I installed for every app it only opens the last installed. App installions always end with "faled to open app" and in the log I see this "Error: Missing necessary file META-INF/AIR/application.xml" not sure?
Windows 7 (all lastest updates)
Latest Air (13.057 I believe?)
How do I fix this, why did it break?

I could install and run the AIR application successfully with AIR 4.0, 12.0 and 13.0.
Looking into the log, it seems that "missing application.xml" and "Application Installer end with exit code 7" issues have been there from 2014-02-09, below is the detailed log seen from http://ge.tt/2IDeU4b1/v/0?c. This issue maybe caused by the application.
Is there an application.xml under C:\Program Files (x86)\YourApplicationXXX\META-INF\AIR\ ?
If possible, could a bug against this issue be logged in https://bugbase.adobe.com/, and upload the AIR application which does not work. That would be very helpful to triage and find the root cause for this issue.

Canceling AIR Update - Default Topic Displayed
Here's a scenario being reported by one of my testers:
Install old AIR with customer's InstallShield setup program.
Install AIR Help file with customer's InstallShield setup program.
User clicks context-sensitive Help button.
AIR Update dialog is displayed.
User cancels the update.
The default topic (not the mapped topic) is displayed in AIR Help.
User closes Help.
User clicks Help button again.
The AIR Update dialog is not displayed.
The correct (mapped) topic appears. Other mappings are also correct, and AIR Update dialog is not displayed again subsequently.
Can anyone explain how this is happening? The Boss suggests there may be a switch in the installation program that could turn off the update process. Is this correct?Hello, Peter -
The tester says that clicking the button brings up the dialog for updating AIR, not AIR Help. The Help does not have AutoUpdate turned on at generation time, and thus it cannot be turned on by the user.
Obviously, the developers should be using the current AIR install, but I can see a point in the future where the install CD would be out of synch with the current version of AIR. And, users should update AIR as often as needed, but they may not want toi, for whatever reason.
The Boss wants the user to not see the default topic when clicking the button for a mapped topic, even if AIR itself needs updating. He's asking if there's a way to bypass the update AIR dialog.

What happens during over-the-air update?
What processes occur during over-the-air update of an app?
This morning I checked for updates and there were 6 updates for apps on my phone. I selected one to install -- one that is listed as 0.3MB on the App Store. The new copy of the icon appeared, and the blue bar started moving. I presume that is the download to the iPhone taking place. Then is says "Installing..." I presume that is the actual installation of the updated app.
But... It seems to take a looong time to install. I could install Adobe Creative Suite on my MacBook Pro faster than this 0.3MB app is installing on my iPhone.
So what is it doing during all that time?It appears apps don't actually update, it just downloads the new version and then installs it, part of that is removing the old version. However its getting annoying now because then I have a different version in itunes and on the phone so when I sync it wants to transfer the file to itunes, I end up with 2 versions of the same app in itunes then because it seems to not delete the old one.
