Does anyone know if I can install Adobe Air on a Windows 8 tablet (Not Windows RT, full version of windows 8)

Any reason why the onscreen keyboard would stop working when a TextInput is being focused?

The onscreen keyboard is the default version that comes with windows 7 Professional...The interesting thing is we did not have this issue in the AIR app in the past up until the our latest app update.
There are no definatley no programmical modifications to the default focus behaviour of any text editable fields or anything that would interrupt the default behaviour of the flash/air integration with the onscreen keyboard and the operating system....it should be transparent AIR/Windows 7 function and totally out of our hands...
The soft keyboard will still enter text into input fields, however the keyboard needs to be manually opened. The standard behaviour was...when the wacom pen tapped into a text input, a keyboard icon would appear next to the input and open the keyboard over the AIR app, now that does not work..
We are really at a lose with this issue and need to know which direction to look into. The tablet has all windows and motion computing specific updates applied to it...and can be replicated on other tablets etc..
We have not tried linux or mac installations troubleshooting because do not have direct access.
Any ideas much appreciated.

I am havin the sam eissue as you can tell I have set al setings to fast..and still it skips keys randomly. I have reinstalled drivers and what else can I do? This keyboard came with bundle HP Pavilion s5310f. I need a fix for this issue. I type for a living and this is unacceptble sppeed and tuypps...shew. Adobe AIR Windows app instance control

Hello!
I´have an old Adobe AIR Windows app. How can I prevent multiple instances of the app. For example one user account launches the app on login, then on a user switch a new instance is started. I want only one instance of the app running. I come up with an idéa of creating a .lock file that is created on start and deleted on app close. But what happens if the power of the computer is removed? Then the .lock file is present and the app can´t launch again. Any idéas?

Are you certain that the previous users instance of the app is still running when that user is logged out? Unless Adobe has changed how AIR works in recent years, AIR is built to only allow one instance of the application to be running. In fact, that has been a complaint by some people who figured out how to get around that limitation so they could have multiple instances of the app running at once.

Our question to you, Chris -if you dont mind or would be happy to talk on the phone if you have a minute

What are we trying to accomplish is :
Our customer wants to ensure if we apply the latest AIR 3.9 -will that fix anything or issues which are in earlier versions. Whether all the bugs have been updated/fixed. Like in Oracle if we release
mega patch or latest patch, it should fix the previous versions.
This is for Dept of Defense we wanted to ensure this happens correclty, we give the information appropriately from the IA perspective for security reasons.
We have lot of CVEs which is suggesting to upgrade or update the patch-will all of them get resolved or consolidated or merged if we go to AIR 3.9

AIR Window cannot contain MenuBar's or ComboBox's (popups)? HELP!

Hello all,
Trying to use an AIR Window instance to show some content. Apparently, an AIR window cannot display pop-up content. In trying to add a child menubar (mx.controls.MenuBar instance) to the window, the menuBar simply fails to be displayed. Checking the parent, etc, shows that the menuBar IS the child of the window, it is visible, and has dimensions that should be shown. It simply does not show up in the window. Also, a combo-box is messed up. The button to drop-down the list does not appear, and so i can't get the drop-down box to show up. Why? This is madness.
I suppose i might use a nativeMenu for the Window (assuming/hoping it will work) rather than the flex MenuBar, but what about ComboBox's. Can't use a combo-box in the window? Now wondering how other content may have problems (context-menus, other popups).
Has there been any docs on this sort of thing. Couldn't find anything specifically for this type of error.
Basically, Window's are somewhat useless if this is the standard behavior.

Yeah same problem here. Restarting helps, but I **** well am not going to restart with all of my opened emails and applications. Apple has lost a lot of money due to this issue over the last few days, as have the artists. These guys should take off their turtlenecks and put some proper QA into their product releases. Two Apple products that do not work together is pretty pathetic.
Seriously thinking about going back to PC...

How to keep notification window from stealing focus from main AIR window

Hi,
We have an AIR (JavaScript based) chat application that uses the technique posted at the following link to display a notiifcation window each time the user receives a new message. The notification window gradually fades away after 5 seconds.

The technique uses HTMLLoader.createRootWindow to create and display the notification window.
The issue we are having is that the notification window steals/removes focus from the main AIR window, which is annoying if you are in the middle of typing a message that you want to send to other users. Once the notification fades away, focus is returned to the main AIR window.
I searched the AIR documentation to see if there is a way to keep the notification window from stealing focus, but came up empty. I'm hoping I'm overlooking something. Can anyone help out?

2- Menu Item Type = Magic.
3- Change Magic Item = Window
4- Command Type = Null.
5.Visible In Menu = Yes.

Slow USB Card Reader - MacBook Air / Windows 7 64-bit / Boot Camp 3.2

Installation of Windows 7 64-bit on my new MacBook Air 11" seemed to go flawlessly from the attached USB SuperDrive. I see no driver issues or unrecognized devices in Device Manager. However, when attaching my Transcend USB 2.0 Compact Flash card reader to load pictures from my camera into Lightroom 3.3, data transfer is mega-SLOW. It takes several minutes (10?) to transfer just 4 pictures. It seems like it may be operating at USB 1.0 speeds.
Installing software from the SuperDrive on the same USB port seems to work fine. Attaching a USB mouse works fine. However, the USB card reader is very, very slow.
If I attach the same card reader, CF card, and cable to another Windows 7 machine, it works fine, so I don't think there's a problem with my reader / card / cable.
Any thoughts about how I might improve performance for the card reader on the MacBook Air (other than running Mac OS)?

Have you installed the Windows support software?
If not, restart your Mac, hold the Option (Alt) key while your Mac is starting and choose your OS X volume.
After starting up, open Boot Camp Assistant (in /Applications/Utilities), press Continue, and tick only the option to download the Windows support software. Then, follow its steps to burn it into a USB drive.
When it has finished, restart in Windows, access to your USB drive from Windows Explorer and run the installer. Your drivers will be installed, and after a simple restart, you will have Wi-Fi

MacBook Air - windows 7 / Bootcamp - External Display NOT WORKING

I run Windows 7 (Bootcamp) on a 9/2011 MacBook Air, how can I run an external display? Settings only give single display option there seems to be no way to either just display on an external display or to extend to an external display. Is this a bug?

AIR window mode bug? How to use the mouse when transparent?

I'm trying to build a transparent desktop application in AIR and have set the window mode to transparent.
The mouseposition and mouseevents only work when the mouse hovers over a visible movieclip but not on the background.
How can I fix that? Or is it an bug like some people say?
Also in fullscreen mode the stage is a LOT bigger than the actual screen.. i already set:
stage.scaleMode= StageScaleMode.EXACT_FIT;
stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE;
but it doesn't help at all.

Are you attaching your mouse handlers to the stage? If not, try it -- that's the typical way to capture mouse events within the entire flash player window. I'm not 100% it works with a NativeWindow set to transparent, though, since the main purpose of transparent window background is to simulate a non-rectangle window. If you want to have a transparent background but still act like a rectangular window you can probably just add a transparent rectangle (alpha=0, visible=true) to capture mouse events.
