Airdisk can't be found, even though it's showing up in Shared.

I have had a hard disk attached to my AEBS (802.11n) for months now and it's worked perfectly. Since Leopard, it's really having problems being seen.
I click on my MacBook's HD, and it's listed right there under the Shared tab in the left pane, just as it should be. I click on it and it then shows the HD's name, and the connection box. When I click on connect to the Acom (the HD's name) it comes up with this error:
*The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and your network connection and try again.*
I've checked the settings on the external HD through AEBS manual setup and everything looks "normal." If the AEBS is restarted, the drive will show up perfectly on my desktop and works just as it should, but that's the only time. I really need this drive to share files between other Macs in our house as we always have done, but all the Leopard installed Macs are having this same no-connection problem. I can't restart my base station each time I need to use its attached hard drive!
Is this something I have to live with, or am I missing something?

In my case, if I make sure sure any of my Macs do not go to sleep while connected to the airdisk, the problem can be avoided.
If you have the previous generation AEBS (not the gigabit version) you can also solve the problem by reverting to a firmware below 7.2 (7.1.1 I believe). If you have the gigabit version like me, you cannot use a firmware below 7.2

Check your login items in the Users & Groups preference pane. Remove any that you don't recognize.

That file could be set as a Launch Agent or Daemon in your ~/Library or /Library, You could try to look for it or Safeboot your computer and then empty the trash. did you apple any updates or upgrades just prior?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?
What do you see when you click on a thumbnail?

Try trashing the .plist with CharacterViewer in its name in Home/Library/Preferences. To get to Home/Library you may need to hold the option key down while you do Finder > Go.

Try rebooting the ipad by pressing and holding the on/off and home buttons simultaneously until the screen goes blank and you see the apple logo. It should take about 10-15 seconds to reboot.

Try these steps listed below.
1. Run “c:\WINDOWS\system32\devmgmt.msc” (i.e. *Device Manager*), and leave it open for now for later use
2. Start up iTunes
3. Next, connect your iPod.
4. Go to your iPod Settings and select the “Enable disk use” option from under theSummary tab.
5. A dialog box will pop up reminding you that you’ll need to manually eject. Go ahead and hit OK
6. Hit Apply to save changes to the iPod
7. Quickly switch to the Device Manager window and right-click on any item within the window and select “Scan for hardware changes”
8. Finally, switch back to iTunes, and try re-syncing your iPod to see if it helped.
It might not also hurt to trash your iPod's Photo cache if it has one (i.e. you sync photos to the iPod). See this article for information on where to find this folder on your Windows XP machine.

What you've outlined in this part of the post is all that icloud stores for you outside of the backup. If you want to restore from the icloud backup you will then have for all practical purposes a carbon restoration back to your device if you restore from the icloud backup.

What is the Word file? From a PC?
What version of Word and what is the file extension?
What is it about the text that is different?
When you say fond do you mean font/typeface? If so what font, and is it on your Mac? Is there something special/different about this font?
