Airdisk works over SMB but not AFP

Just connected an external drive to a gigabit Airport Extreme (had the Extreme over a year, btw). Finder sees the Extreme in the Shared section, but cannot connect to it. I receive the error "Connection Failed" and that the server is not available.
However, using Windows XP in Fusion, I can see the Extreme and connect to it just fine using SMB.
I can also connect to a ReadyNAS Duo on the same network via AFP with no problems.
I have turned off the Mac's firewall and turned on all the available connection options on the Extreme. I've tried all the different access options as well (passwords, accounts, etc.). I've even repaired permissions on the Mac to no avail. My wife's Mac also cannot connect to the Extreme using AFP (haven't tried SMB yet, though). She also has Fusion/XP installed.
Any ideas?

Just to add to the oddness: Installed a demo of Path Finder 5. It shows the Airport Extreme available under the Share section as AFP and SMB capable. AFP connection works perfectly.

Firstly, please let me apologise in case im being really stupid (highly likely! )
I have a mixed environment in which i have some iMacs (running Mavericks) and some Mac Pros (Running Mountain Lion 10.8.5). When connencting to the XServe using AFP, some get an error. I will go throught the steps i follow.
- From Finder, Go>Connect to Server..>afp://10.***.**.**>Connect
- I enter the login credentials and select Connect
- It gives me the option to select which volume to mount. I select Volume 1 and select OK
- Error - There was a problem connecting to the server "10.---.--.--". You do not have permission to access this server
When trying to access the server suing SMB instead of AFP (using the same credentials) it connects fine.
The issue with SMB is that for some reason, some of the folders wont show through SMB (no idea why)
The problem is affecting one imac on Mavericks and two Mac Pros on Mountain Lion. If i attempt to login using SMB on any machines which work fine with AFP, they will connect but after that, they wont revertback to AFP. They get the same error as above.
Any idea whats causing this?If any of the above causes confusion, feel free to shout at me and i will try to clear anything up.

You'll need to connect your modem to your AEBS WAN port, configure your AEBS with the Airport Admin Utility, setting up the PPOE to properly log into your modem connection.
You should set up your mac to us DHCP (not PPOE).
THis should allow you to use either the ethernet port or wireless from your AEBS.

IOS 4.1 exchange works over 3G but not over home wi-fi

I have seen several similar problems here but none exactly the same. I can setup and access my companies exchange email absolutely fine -mail & calendar - over the 3G connection (UK O2), but using it over my home wi-fi connection can neither set it up (verification fails) or, if I set it up over 3G but then try to access over wi-fi (unable to get mail) retrieve or send mail. I have tried delete/resetup the account, tried using server IP address rather than FQDN, tried using opendns rather than my ISPs dns server, nothing makes any difference. Was working fine prior to iOS4.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Just an update - spontaneously started working a few days later, suspect something at the Exchange server end.....

Why does the counter work in MAX, but not Labview?

Please help, I have been away from Labview for over 3 months, and I am quite rusty....
Last year, I successfully configured NI9401 to measure period (seconds) by counting the rising edges of my sensor signal. Since then, I have aquired a new PC, and loaded all my software into it, including the Labview VI's that successfully worked on the old computer.
I can see the digital signal using MAX and the test panel for the NI9401, so, I know my wiring and my TTL signal is OK, but, when I try to run the attached VI, nothing happens except the error below.. How do I tell this VI to look for the signal on MOD3/CTR0 and channel 14?

OK, now. Resolved the issue. The vi is fine, but, some shaky wires were identified...worked in MAX but not in the vi. Now that the connections have been tightened up, it works for both. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The main reason is you have a <div id="bg_grid"> at the end of your html that is essentially over the top of everything else on your page, including your links. All clicks go to that <div> rather than your links undeneath it. I'm kind of surprised it works in IE to be honest.
You do also have a ton of errors as Gramps points out, but that particular issue is not technically an error, so I have a feeling you could fix the ~100 problems shown by the validator and still have the issue.
You could use z-index to "order the stack" as it were. Changing the z-index attributes for the css of those elements will allow you to change their order, regardless of their location in the html. A higher z-index number, the "closer" it is to the viewer (higher on the stack).
Right now, they are both set to 1, so the one that comes later in the html is on top.
Adding z-index:999 to the menu <div> should do it,

Sockets work on localhost but not remotely?

I have created a simple multithreaded client / server program.
The Server listens on port 2222 for clients. When a client connects - the client sends its ip address to the server and then disconects. More than 1 client can connect at the same time to the server and the server also listens continuasly. I have 2 problems with the program...
a) the programs work on localhost but not on remote machines? (Well not over my LAN anyway).
b) I am getting 2 lots of 'datain' when the server recieves an ip address from the client when the client should only send it once.

In your client you are creating two sockets (why?). One connected to localhost, the other connected to the host specified using readLine.
If your client runs on the same machine you have started your server, you have two connects to your server instead of one.
The ip adresse is sent using the socket connected to localhost. That is why it does not work on remote machines.

Mac mini webcam works on facetime but not oovoo

I am using a Rocketfish hd webcam and it is working on facetime but not on oovoo. Can someone provide a solution?

If the third-party support info and help does not get it working for you, you can also use OS X Mavericks recovery or reinstall to repair your startup disk or reinstall OS X 10.9.

(Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD." Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)

QTSS Works on Mac but not the other

I have a Server running OS X Server 10.5.8. I am running QTSS and Apache on this machine, however I am having issues with Quicktime streaming. One mac here is able to successfully stream but all other macs on our network fail to connect despite the QTSS "Connections" window shows the connection to the machine trying to stream the video. In the end on the client Quicktime X shows "Not Found" however I am able to connect to the server via other services (ARD, AFP, HTTP). I can post any logs that might help.

I couldn't remember what the Display Preferences had said when we tried this last spring and again in the summer, so tonight we connected it again, and wouldn't you know - it worked just fine. We didn't do anything different, so I have no clue as to why it worked this time but not before. He's thinking about getting his own big display, but didn't want to waste his money if he couldn't get it to work, so now I guess we're shopping for another 23" display - probably a used one. Airplay working from Imac but not macmini

On my imac I can see all my remote speakers ( airport express and denon airplay) & connect to them, however on my macmini I only see some of them( airport express) & can connect to none.
I have tried reinstalling itunes on the mac mini but to no avail...I am at a loss as to how to fix this.
All machine have latest sotware updates installed.
Any advice gratefully received.

Ichat works with wireless, but not ethernet

Just moved into new office and bought new iMac. I can get internet with ethernet or wireless, but iChat works only over wireless. This is true with my intel Macbook as well. Is this a port or firewall problem, and if so, why would wireless work, but not ethernet?

TimeWarner comes in from the outside, but a private contractor is involved in the setup of the wireless which is connected to the TW modem. But if the wireless goes into the TW cable, why does it work as wireless, but not directly plugged in? It is as if converting the signal to wireless cures the problem.

Edit: I succeeded to solve it accidentally. I did the following: Sign the jar in Netbeans, clean and build, the jar didn't work, I wiped out the .ks from the jar and clean and build again. Now it worked.

My Wifi works at home but not when away from home, what is wrong? I thought with a phone plan I didn't need to have a wifi connection.

You either need WiFi or Cellular (or both). If you have neither, you can't connect to the internet.
Most people use WiFi at home and Cellular while away from home, or connect to public WiFi networks where there are some.
