As I trued to transfert a file from my Imac to my McBook Pro both on Mavericks latest version I got the following message on the Imac : "The Apple ID Certificate of the McBook is not valid. File transfert canceled."
How do I get around this?

i had airdrop issues...
when sending to another machine from my own, the other machine instantly denied the request
when the other machine tried sending to me, it failed with a warning "apple id certificate is invalid"
after calling apple:
go to the apple>preferences>iCloud
log out
log in
do this on BOTH machines
fixed

When I click or type in a valid link, I get the message "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded." I have to reload/refresh the page one or more times until the same page loads.

This happens with small sites as well as major ones such as amazon.com. It happens frequently with many different websites both when typing in a URL or clicking on one from search results or other pages. If I am opening it in a new tab, the page is blank and the correct URL shows in the address bar even though it didn't load. When I get the message "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded" I have to click okay and then click on the link again or click refresh. Sometimes it loads on the 2nd try; other times I have to refresh multiple times to get it to load.
Anyone know what is causing this or what will help?

That issue can be caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation (multiple versions can be installed side-by-side; SxS) that is missing some runtime components (Redistributable Packages) that Firefox depends on (problem with an embedded manifest file that specifies a specific runtime version).
You need to install the missing components (e.g. VisualC++ 2005 Redistrbutable).

How do I enable Firefox 4 to do a search on more than one word (e.g. "yahoo mail") without receiving the error message "the URL is not valid and cannot be loaded"?

After loading Firefox 4.0, I changed the address bar search engine to Google Search by Name, so I'd be taken straight to the most relevant webpage when I type in a word.
It works fine when I type in one word, but if I use a search with more than one word (e.g. "yahoo mail" or "google maps") I get an alert saying "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded". Is there any way I can fix the address bar to accept multiple word searches?
I've tried disabling all my add-ons, but it didn't make any difference.

Hi, this should sort out your problem:
1. Type in "about:config" into the address bar, this will open the settings menu. Click on "I'll be careful, I promise!"
2. Search for "keyword.URL" in the filter bar.
3. Enter "http://www.google.com/search?btnI=I%27m+Feeling+Lucky&q=" into the value field.
I'm no expert, but I had the same problem which got on my nerves after being so used to being able to type anything in, and following these steps fixed it.

What causes me to keep getting the message "the url is not valid and cannot be loaded" quite often, especially on MSN homepage among others?

I get this message quite often. I know the urls are valid because I visit the websites everyday. People have told me that maybe Firefox just doesn't support those websites very well and to try a different browser. It's driving me crazy. Any ideas?

When I first turn on Firefox, I only get a blank "new tab". It does not go to the Firefox Home Page. i've narrowed it down a bit more.
i've got a freshly installed firefox US 9.0.1 on a freshly installed windows xp pro sp3 US (fully patched). a freshly installed separate firefox 3 install is on this machine too, but that does not seem relevant.
the problem only occurs when i load https-urls with invalid certificates (eg self-signed) in the case that i use a firefox with a non-default profile.
so the "default" profile displays a "this page cannot be trusted" screen as expected, i can open the url. but in a different firefox instance/profile, when going to the same https url, i get the error popup. the firefox profile/instance is started like this: firefox.exe -P dev -no-remote.
i have reinstalled firefox 9 & 3 because of this issue. the problem stayed. i didn't remember whether i could load the https url with the default before the reinstall. perhaps i couldn't...

Since I downloaded the last Firefox version 3.6 15, no matter where I am, I am back in my homepage and I get the message "The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded", usually I can go back to the site I was in and keep doing whatever I was doing, but often it will happen again.
This is happening in both my computer, laptop and desktop, one has windows XP, the other one has windows 7.

Seems like this used to work, but every time now that I try use Open URL in Quicktime I get the message, "the URL is not valid." Happens on U-Tube, Vimeo, Facebook, Photobucket, everywhere.
I am using Quicktime 7.6.9 Pro.
I happened upon this when I was trying to download a video on YouTube by opening Activity and downloading from there. It now downloads a file called videoplayback, and is the same size as the video file, but it is listed as a Plain text File. I have preciously been able to download video this way, but for some reason all I get is the text file.
So I turned to Quicktime, and I have been getting this error on every URL. I have the latest Flip4Mac and Perian installed.
What am I missing here?

The first is the radiostation URL which works fine for looking about the site etc.. The second is on the listening live page and is I think an internal address for music streaming. It is this that I think Quick sees as an iffy URL?? Try it and see what you get. Again appreciate the help.

I have gone into Mac Help and followed this down to stage 4:
under shared it lists my time capsule and my husband's iMac - both use the time machine but we have switched his off temporarily. Clicking on my Time capsule I get "Connected" and "Sharepoint" - I didn't have to enter connect or password
I don't understand stage 5: how and where do I select the disk or volume that contains Time Machine backups ? How do I know which it is? My disk utility lists 160.04 TOSHIBA MK... with sub-heading Macintosh HD. It also lists (with a "CD" icon) HL-DT-ST DVDRW GS22N
Under stage 6, how and where do I Locate your backup ? I try dragging my Time capsule from Finder to the Disk Utility side panel but it won't go. What is my computer's name?
Please someone help! I'm completely stumped.
