AirDrop not seen on both computers

I'm running a mid 2010 iMac with Mountain Lion installed. My wife has an iMac (2011) in the basement, running Lion. We both open our airdrop folders. She sees my computer and can send me a file. I see the file come in and see her picture in my airdrop window and can accept it. However, then her picture disappears and I can't see her, so I can't send files to her. Could this be because I'm running Mountain Lion and she is running Lion? Still doesn't make sense since she can send me files and see me in her airdrop folder.

My wonder would be if yours is having issues seeing/making the connection. As wou may well know it is based of the wi-fi card range.
There was a little bit I found about enabling it with older systems running lion but you are useing two that should have air drop enabled.
I dought it but it may be an account issue. You could try a different account on the system that is not seeing the downstars computer.

I can not ping my Mac from other computers in my work group (both PC and Mac). I've been sharing a folder for a few years in a small work group and all of a sudden that folder can no longer be seen or mounted mounted on other computers in my workgroup. I am connected to the network and internet and I can ping other computers in my group. They can't ping me (get no response when pinging my ip address) and therefore are unable to see me to mount and share my folder.
I've double checked all my sharing setting, permissions and find everthing as it should be, but others are unable to mount my folder.

Home Sharing not working on both computers

I want to import music from my laptop (Windows 7) to my main desktop (Windows Vista). My laptop regonizes the library on the desktop through Home Sharing but the desktop does not see the laptop. I have Home Sharing turned on on both PCs using the same iTunes account and I tried turning it on and off on both but it still doesn't work on my desktop. Both have the most recent version of iTunes. What am I doing wrong?

Interesting as you can see your other library on your desktop this suggests you are using Sharing rather than Home Sharing.
In Preferences, Sharing I only have the bottom Home Sharing computers and devices update play counts. You do not need the Share my Library on my local network ticked.
To Create Home Sharing
Ctrl B To turn on top menu
File > Home Sharing > Create Home Share. Enter your Apple ID and password here and click create home share
Repeat on the other machine using exactly the same apple ID.
Then when you access Home Sharing it should look like this. If you need to turn the sidebar on View > Show Sidebar

Why do we each have to reconfigure the network every time we use our computers?

What is the exact problem? Is it that your current network does not support providing Internet access to more than one computer at a time? Regardless, what is the make & model of your network's router and modem? If your network has more than one router, what is the make & models of each of them and how are they configured?

Same fonts not available on both computers even though we just downloaded AI CC on both.

We recently installed AI CC on two computers with one log in, however we don't have the same fonts. This is creating a problem when the same files are being worked on at different times on the two computers - one computer has the fonts and the second one doesn't. You'll need to install the same Fonts (which should be in a Systems folder) on both machines.

SFE2000 and mikrotik VLANs not seen on both ends

I am trying to interconnect SFE2000 and MTK RTB 433AH.
I must say after years of working on Cisco equipment I was quite frustrated with Linksys setup options.
Neither Trunk on General mode is not working. There is no diagnostic tools for this, yes I have last version of SW on SFE2000.
e23 is untagged in native VLAN 1 and tagged in vlan77
Mikrotik uses dot1q for VLAN encapsulation and it is quite simple.
I added additional vitual interface on Mikrotik and assigned IP address.
What ever I have done Mikrotik was Linksys was unable to see VLAN77 from Mikrotik Virtual interface, and ping it from own interface in VLAN 77.
If you have any idea please help.

I had the same problem of many people, my ipod was not seen by both windows and itunes, Apple Grenoble(France) store invited me to buy another ipod because the repair cost was higher than the price of one, SHAME ON THEM because it was just A PROBLEM OF WIRE. Try with a new one and there's a (big)chance that it'll work.
And that could be a solution not for only this connection problem but for sure for many other ones.So give this answer on other topics when you think it could be linked to.

it is quite common that the iPod cable can manage to charge the iPod but fail on sync, so do not say too early that the iPod cable is not faulty by saying that the cable is fine and it can still charging my iPod

Oops, I forgot a step between 7 and 8 ... before syncing the iPhone I need to explicitly send the document back to iTunes on the iPhone, or the changes won't come over at all ...
and then one more thing ... Numbers on iOS does NOT recognize a number of key features of the OSX app, such as conditional formatting ... so after editing my document on iOS and syncing it back to OSX on my Mac, all of those settings are lost (no more conditional formatting, have to do it all over again)

Nevermind - I answered my own question, which is I CAN"T READ ANY BOOKS I purchased in iBooks on my MacBook Pro. If I want to read on my mac I have to use Kindle or Nook. Which means any book I've already purchased through iBooks has to be read on my iPad. Kind of a drag because there are times when it's more convenient for me to read while I'm sitting with my Mac.

1. Double check that both computers:
—have iTunes open
—are connected to the same network
—have Home Sharing enabled with the same account.
2. Preferences > General: Shared Libraries should be checked.
Alternatively...
1. Preferences > Sharing: Share my library on my local network should be checked on both computers.

Then stop trying to use HomeShare and use one of the other options listed in the document from which your question was posted.

If it is moved correctly, playlists will display on both computers and it should be possible.
Close iTunes.
Hold <SHIFT> and launch iTunes.
When prompted to create a new or open an existing iTunes library point iTunes to the iTunesLibrary.itl file on the external drive.
The entire library should now show up with all playlists and playcounts.
Do this on both computers.
Keep in mind that only one computer can access iTunes at a time, otherwise errors will occur when each computer attempts to write to or update the iTunesLibrary.itl file.
Syncing may work seemlessly with both computers, but honestly syncing is designed to work with one and only one computer.

Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
