AirDrop PDF iBook

Hello,
I have a Wifi only iPad and an iPhone.  I often have to download PDF's from the web.  Without a wifi connection, how do I share that PDF from my iPhone to my iPad?
I've tried iBooks and was planning to AirDrop, but iBooks doesn't have AirDrop as an option.  Even Bump uses wifi and not Bluetooth.
Are there any PDF Readers that you know of that allow sharing to AirDrop?
Thank you

Hi, I have not found a way to airdrop from iBooks but if you are downloading the PDF from Safari there is an option to airdrop it from there using the "open with" command. View the PDF in the browser and choose open with and you should see an airdrop menu item.

Actually I have 2 problems:  I cant find my pdf/ibooks on computer after backing up my iPad (they are on my iPad).  I looked under Ipad, I Books, PDFs, and it doesn't show them on the computer. How do I manually transfer these files?
Also, I'm having issues with my Ipad turning off about every 2 minutes, and I want to restore it.  I want to make sure all of the files are backed up before I restore.  My trouble started when I was trying to update my IPad but it was taking too long (internet was scetchy) so I powered off...now Im having problems.  I haven't tried to update again since this problem. Any suggestions?  Should I restore? Should I update to 7.0.6?  (currently 7.0.3).

  • PDF iBooks and iPad Syncing!!!

I have stored on my iMac pdf files, how do I sync these to my iPad to show in iBooks under pdf collections so I can read them on the move?

I have a pc, not a mac, so I don't know what the menu options look like on a mac, but in iTunes on my computer I can do File > Add File to Library which then allows me to navigate to the PDF (or music file) that I want to add to iTunes - alternatively I can drag the PDF file into iTunes.
The PDF will then appear in the 'Books' library in iTunes (if Books doesn't show then, on a pc, going into Edit > Preferences and ticking Books on the General tab show get it to show). With my iPad connected I can then drag the PDF from the Books library onto the iPad.

  • No underline in PDF iBooks?!

    Hi and tnxs for reading.
While it was possible to underline PDFs on Preview, now this operation is not possible on iBooks on the MAC unless we create another copy which is stored somewhere else... is this correct? Is that normal?
    Tnxs.

what is the vi you are using ?
wrting string to a text file will simply save data as pure text, ascii characters, without formatting.
what you are trying to save is formatted on the screen, but when saved to a text file, all the formating (italic, bold, etc ) is lost.
If you want to save formmatted text, you have to use a word processor, like word pad. you can have LabView thru active X save formatted text with word pad.

  • Highlight feature in PDF iBooks

Why can't I highlight text in PDFs that I have stored in iBooks?

iBooks only has the "enhanced" note taking features for ePub files, there are PDF anotators that you may be able to use, or you could try converting the PDF to and ePub.

  • Can I edit title of PDF in iBooks?

I wish to edit some of the titles of PDF's that are in my iBooks to make search a lot easier. Is this possible?

How to Change PDF Titles in iBooks Right on Your iPhone or iPad Itself!
This was driving me crazy, especially as all over the net there are bold statements it CANNOT be done along with convoluted, multi-step, hard-to-follow directions for doing this.  They involve transferring to Calibre, or transferring via iTunes then converting, rummaging within container files, editing meta data, etc.
Well, gang , it's easy to change *PDF* titles on your iOS device, iPad, or iPhone, right from within iBooks itself!!
All you need to do is to select the specific book and tap its title!    You do that by putting the books into a list view, so that you can see the titles.  Then tap a Edit in the upper right corner, select the book (tap the empty circle to its left), then tap the title!  That brings up the keyboard.  From there, backspace to delete letters or double-tap the title to select it all at once to replace it all at once.
I can't believe how simple it is.  Of course, bad Apple, it doesn't work the same way as in other Apple apps, but hey, it's doable.  It also doesn't seem to work with ePub books.
For the visually oriented, or for those who find I've made it too simple or left something out, take a gander at this video:
                http://www.documentsnap.com/rename-pdf-ibooks/
Note:   If you're having trouble making any selection, that's due to Apple's iBooks getting into a weird state every now and then where the empty circles cannot be selected-- for moving, deleting, anything.  If that happens, force-quit the app, relaunch, and go to town renaming your PDFs.  A couple of times I've also found that rather then being up the keyboard, it turns off the selection.
Happily, files/PDF books that used to be named such things as
               pleasuresofteles00servrich
    and
               popguidetoheaven00ballrich
can be renamed to their proper titles
              Pleasures of the Telescope
    and
              Popular Guide to the Heavens
    Hope this helps someone else!

  • Viewing PDF files in iBooks ?

does anyone know if there is anyway to view PDF files as you view books in ibooks with access to all options (copy, define, highlight, note, search, share) ?, thank you.

    Hi LeClarence,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The article below will explain how to view PDFs with iBooks on your iPhone.   The easiest way to get them to your device is to email them to yourself.
iBooks: Viewing, syncing, saving, and printing PDFs on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4227
With iBooks for iOS and iTunes 10.1 or later, you can view, sync, save, and print PDFs on your compatible iOS device. You can also view PDF email attachments or PDFs from Safari in iBooks.
    Opening PDFs with iBooks
You can open PDF documents, such as a PDF attached to an email, with iBooks:
When you view a PDF email attachment, tap the Share button in the upper-right corner.
Tap Open in iBooks to open the attachment. iBooks will open, and you can view your PDF.
When you use iBooks to open a PDF, iBooks will automatically save a copy of the PDF to your iBooks PDF shelf. These PDFs will sync to your iTunes Book library the next time you sync your device with iTunes.
    Syncing and saving PDFs
To add PDFs to your iTunes library on your computer, drag and drop the PDF into your iTunes Book library. If you're using OS X Mavericks, drag and drop your PDFs into your iBooks library using iBooks for Mac.
To sync a PDF to iBooks on your device:
Select your iOS device. (Learn more about syncing your data with iTunes.)
    Click the Books tab.
    Select Sync Books.
If iTunes is set to sync only selected books, select the checkbox next to the PDF you want to sync.
    Click Sync.
You can use iTunes to back up your PDF files so they will restore to your iOS device after you update or restore your software or transfer information to a different device. If you use iTunes 11 or later to sync your PDF files to iBooks on your iOS device, a backup of your PDF will be automatically created. A copy of the PDF will be added to your iTunes Books library, or iBooks library if you're using OS X Mavericks.
    Cheers,
    - Judy

  • How do I publish and ibook for free without a credit card

I am working with a teacher to publish her students work to the iBooks store. We are trying to download iTunes Connect.  She has tried to use her account and keeps hitting snags.  Her account information is correct but keeps getting rejected.  So I tried the school's account that was set up without a credit card.  The account is good but my error message is the account requires a credit card.  Isn't free, free?  We are just trying to get her students' work published.  SHe has found the authoring of books very engaging to her remedial students. The project falls short at this time until we get the publishing part fixed.  So, help!
    Thanks

It is all about iBook author.
In that case, other ebook stores will not be helpful, because iBA produces a special format (.ibooks) that only the iBookstore will accept (and which can only be read on an iPad, no other device).   It can also produce .pdf format, which is usable anywhere, but does not offer the same features.
The best way to distribute .ibooks format without a credit card would be via email attachment or putting it on a server for downloading by readers.
For other bookstores you would normally produce in .epub format (which can be read on any device, like .pdf). iBooks Author can't do that, but the Pages app can.

    Hello Jean Carney,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are receiving PDF documents in email on your iPhone, but are unable to open and view them. In this situation, I would recommend reading over the attached article for information on how to open PDFs from Mail using iBooks. If this is the process you are going through and it is not successful, please let me know which part in the process is not working as the article would suggest.

  • ITunes 11.1.5 Why I can't see added PDF files!

    Hey guys,
I added some PDF files to my Library and I still can't see them on the left side menu where I can se my Videos, music and Apps...
    what could be the reason?
I am using iTunes 11.1.5 on Mac OSX 10.9.2

You no longer use iTunes to handle pdfs.
iBooks > File > Add to library.
If the pdf is an email attachment: control click > Open with > iBooks.
Some pdfs on websites have the option to 'Open in iBooks'.

  • Stage Play Format in an iBook?

    Hello,
I'm creating an eBook (in all formats: ePub, PDF, iBook and maybe even .MOBI) for a client and I'm trying to figure out how to format it.  It's an original stage play (theatrical...you know, like Shakespeare) that she'd like to sell and distribute as an eBook.  Is it possible to keep the formatting similar to a stage play  (with indented dialogue, character lines, and stage directions on the left)?  Something like this.
I've seen examples in the iBooks store of Shakespeare and Arthur Miller and such, so I believe it is, but I'm not sure how to do it.
Is it simply a matter of tabs and indents and line breaks?  Or is it more complicated (like coding, html, widgets?).
Is there a template or tutorial/guide you can recommend?
Of course PDF is the easiest option, but the samples I saw were iBook formats with flowable, resizable text.  I'd like to do that, instead of a fixed-layout PDF.
    Thanks,
    Justin

  • The edit button is spinning forever in the ibooks app. How to make it stop?

The edit button is spinning forever in the ibooks app. How to make it stop spinning?

I used to have this problem on a iPad 2 with iOS7 (and iOS6).  Everytime I would install a new PDF, iBooks would churn away like it was scanning it.  The book wouldn't even show up for me to read until the churning stopped. Eventually the edit button would re-enable and the doc would appear..  It seemed to keep getting worse each time.
I then did a complete restore to the iPad.  Now when I load a new book, it immediately is available for edit.  iBooks still works fine 3 months after I did the restore.

  • Can I read and search a PDF file on my IPAD

Can I read and search a PDF file on my IPAD??

Several apps will allow you to work with PDFs. iBooks will handle them, but there have been a few issues reported about using it for that purpose. My guess is it depends on the size and complexity of the file. Adobe has a reader in teh app store (free). Goodreader is an option, and provides functionality for searches.
