AirDrop with LAN connection

Hi,
My MacBook Pro lost suddenly its wifi card (dead), and I lost with it the AirDrop option in Context menu/Share (right-click mouse). Is there anyway to bring it back (AirDrop in Share menu)? Given that AirDrop is still possible by drag-and-drop in Finder.
Thanks for your help,
And sorry for my english .

it just does not load the pages
after about ten minutes (really!) of loading with the blue bar not moving safari says nothing!
firefox in the status bar says: transferring data from .....[link to the Microsoft website i'm trying to connect to] and then nothing!
mac messenger says: sing in to Microsoft messenger failed because the service is not available or you may not be connected to the internet (retry - cancel)
and adium says something similar to messenger
itunes does not say anything, i just have the bar with "connecting to the itunes store" and then nothing
is there some kind of hateful firewall in macbook pros that excludes microsoft?!?! eheh
no, just joking, the problem i have is real, what can i do?
hope i gave you enough informations Rodney

  • Trouble with LAN connection and DHCP

I would greatly appreciate any input on this issue.
Some reason when I installed Arch from the 2009.08 release it would always fail when I try to use dhcpcd eth0 or dhclient eth0.
    It would say:
    ... Looking for carrier
    ... timed out.
I thought that it might be the cable or the router but I have tried multiple cables and routers in different locations, and it works fine when I run in Windows.
Nothing I have tried has worked, I have been searching for forums for a similar issue.  I have had to use a wireless connection for everything internet based.

  • Lost LAN connection

I set up Total Broadband 2 weeks ago with LAN connection to my PC and it worked first time. Other laptops/netbooks in the house connected wirelessly without any problem. On Thursday evening I picked up my emails before closing down and on Friday morning I had no connection and haven't had it since then - yet the laptop and netbooks still work perfectly well both wirelessly and by connecting the LAN cable - so it's not a faulty cable.  For some reason my Realtek PCIe is not being seen and yet according to Windows the device is working properly. I can't use the desktop tools because I can't get on line so am posting this on a laptop.  Can anybody help please?

Hi I would suggest either a faulty network card or try reinstalling the cards drivers and try again

  • Lan connectivity Issue on autonomous AP with throttles

              Hello,
I encounter a strange problem on several AP 1242 in version 12.4(25d)JA1 of a customer :
He has 10 autonomous AP covering a factory and is using them for laptop connectivity and TOIP with mainly 7921 Cisco Wifi Phones.
The phones are configured to use only 802.11a.
The APs loose LAN connectivity randomly and therefore the clients don't work anymore.
The AP are connected on a 2960 and a 3560 wich are in turn connected on a 3750 wich route the trafic.
After checking spanning-tree no loops are present.
When I check the counters on the AP involved I see the "trhottles" and "ignored" counters incrementing on the fa0 link of the AP impacted wich mean I think it can't handle the incoming traffic. This incoming traffic seems not to be too big however. I can see drops on the switch interface connecting the AP.
There is a lot of roaming on the AP due to people walking in the factory with their wifi phones.
Here is a view of the fa0 counters :

Does someone ever experienced a similar problem ?
When I shut radio interfaces they're is no more problems on the LAN. Can this be an overlapping coverage issue ?
Can someone please give me advices on how to troubleshoot this issue ?
Thank you in advance as I'm a bit stuck.
    Best Regards,

         Hi Scott,
    Thanks for your reply.
Do you think this can be the origin of the issue my customer encounters or is it only to be standard ? As this change will have to be made on all clients, if there is a chance it solves the problem I will do it ASAP, if not I will delay it in a less busy period :-)
Can the constant roaming associations and dissasociations overload the AP and make it stop responding on the LAN or is it only a throuhput problem ?
Thanks in advance for your answer.
    Best Regards,

  • Is it possible to control (screen share) my Mac Book on my PC over a LAN connection with fullscreen 1920x1080 resolution AND sound?

I've fiddled with Team Viewer and was able to control my Mac on my PC, but it wasn't over my LAN connection (it was slow), and it was a small windowed view without the Mac's sound. I want to cotrol my Mac, with my PC over LAN and on a 1920x1080 resolution with the Mac's sound on my PC.
(Sry for a almost report of this (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4031259) but I forgot to ask about the sound).

well there is a program called logmein found at logmein.com. it fixes your resolution problem, but the speed is still not the best due to a lag still. As long as internet connections are decent, the lag should be minimal

  • Disable WLAN when LAN connected - how do I do?

    Hi,
We are in the process of migrating from HP notebooks to Lenovo. We used to set a BIOS setting called "LAN/WLAN Switch" in the HP notebooks, which makes the WLAN to disable when the LAN cable is plugged in or the pc is docked
Where do I find a similar setting in Lenovo notebooks?
We need it because LAN and WLAN is on separate subnets, and Windows XP has trouble working with both nets at the same time. Users compalins about loss of network connectivity if both nets are enabled at the same time.
There may be a way to configure LAN/WLAN-switching in the Lenovo software, but we prefer to use the build in WLAN functionality in Windows, not using Access Connection or similar third party WLAN software. Our experience shows that uses often have difficulties finding out how to use third party WLAN software when traveling and need to connect to other WLAN's. The build in Windows WLAN software has the advantage that it is always the same, no matter which brand or model of pc they are using.

Check out Wireless AutoSwitch at http://www.wirelessautoswitch.com it does what you are asking.
    What is Wireless AutoSwitch?
Wireless AutoSwitch runs as a service and will automatically disable your wireless card when you connect to a LAN (hard wire) connection, and re-enable the wireless card when there is no LAN connection. This ensures that you are always using the fastest connection for network traffic. In the office this helps reduce redundant network connections, while still helping your employees seamlessly transfer from wired to wireless network connections.
For offices that are wireless security conscious this application makes sure the laptop's wireless card is off when the user is wired into your network, preventing bridged connections and preventing someone from the outside hacking your network through a laptop's wireless card.

  • T60p & Windows 7 Pro and Bluethoot problem with Access Connections.

    Hi,
I reinstalled Windows 7 Pro (64bit) at my T60p laptop.
I use Access Connections (v. 5.97) manage my wi-fi, lan connections.
(installed with all features lan, wi-fi, modem etc.)
    So here is problem.
When I start Access Connection. Bluethoot goes ON ...
Trying disable Bluetooth via Access connectios (Power Off), but it's still going "ON" and stays "ON"...
Any good solution to keep bluethoot off without disable it at bios?
Earlier version of Access Connections keeps bluetooth OFF...
    /P

If you are not using the Bluetooth and you want to disable it, the easiest way is to disable the device in the Device Manager.
Go into the Device Manager by searching for Device Manager in the start menu, Open the Device Manager and select hardware, choose the Bluetooth device, right click, and finally choose 'disable'. If you want to use the Bluetooth device in the future you will have to return to the Device manager, right click and 'enable' the device.
I hope this information has been helpful, please let me know if you have any further questions.
Thank you for being a part of the Lenovo Family,
    Catie

    Hi,
Actually  we have UCS 6248 fabric interconnect - first twelve ports are enabled  and same in Cisco UCS Manager.
But when more port will be active by expansion module  then UCSM can manage that too or need any other licence  for UCSM too?

  • 802.1x on a wired Lan Connection

    Dear Community,
i have the job to connect a Windows CE 6.0 device to a Network (wired) with 802.1x. The switch to wich i connect the device  is operating as authenticator and the Wince device is the supplicant. A Radius Server with AD is also present .
All the informations and samples  that i can find are relating to wireless LAN connections (WZCSVC). A description of the EAPOL API is also absent (or i was not able to find it).
I'm afraid that Wince 6.0 is not prepared for using 802.1x over a wired connection like Win XP can, but i'm not sure about that. I can not find a definite  statement whether it is possibe or not.
Does anybody know if it is possible and/or how i can solve this problem.

  • Hang of RMI call when LAN connection removed

I have a client server application with comms using RMI across a TCP/IP LAN. We are in test at the moment and one of the tests is to ensure that when the LAN connection is removed, the client application handles it correctly.
We have discovered that if we pull the LAN whilst an RMI call is in progress, the call never returns, even if we subsequently plug the LAN back in. Why should this be? I would have expected a RemoteException as soon as I pull the LAN out. How come the thread gets deadlocked?
Note that we are running JRE 1.2 on the client (they are soon to be updated but it's 1400 remote, unattended sites so it's an expensive process to update to a recent JRE).
    Thanks
    Mat

Thanks ejp - couple of dollars coming your way. Be a couple more if you (or anyone else) can help further.
Firstly, how would I set this property in the code?
Secondly, would it be set in the client or the factory (yes we do have one)? If it's in the factory, will that help me from the client side (that's where I need it to work). I looked up the responseTimeout property and it looks like this is more for the server to close incoming connections. The problem I have is on the client side - I need the client (i.e. that is making the RMI call via an exported remote object) to be able to kill off a call that has going too long (for instance because it can't detect the closed TCP connection).
Maybe I've misunderstood the documentation I've found but that's how I read it.
    Thanks again!
    Mat
