Airlink 101 and G4 Mini
Guys i have a G4 Mini that i'm trying to connect wireless with a Airlink 101 (AWLL6075). I'm running Leopard with all updates.
Now i installed the drivers from Meritline and the Airlink website and they all give me the same results (10.4 and 10.5).

I install, reboot, airlink program opens, i add my network, it connects. I can connect to Mini from macbook and can transfer files between the two. Also i'm using a router wired to an airport express which is handling the wifi-N. Ok, now when i'm on the mini it has an ip address but it cant connect to the internet.
The network settings calls it an ethernet adaptor and airport utility doesnt see it.
Does anyone have a clue whats going on?

Since the Mac Mini appears to be getting the proper Private IP address for your network subnet, but not able to access the Internet, points to either missing or incorrect DNS IP address information. When checking the network settings within System Preferences, does your ISP's DNS server information show up?
If not, try entering the Public IP address (instead of the URL) of the site you are going to, to test Internet connectivity without DNS. If that works, then try substituting the OpenDNS servers IPs: 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220. Can you still gain access to Internet sites? Please post back your results.

I have a non-Intel MacMini with Leopard installed. It does not have an AirPort card installed, but I have an AirLink 101 USB adapter (AWLL3028) that I would like to use with it. Does anyone know of third party drivers developed for this card? There are no Mac OS X drivers on the AirLink website for this model.

I bought a Mac Mini (May 2009) and this Mini-DVI to Video adapter with plans to use it to send an S-video signal to an analog TV. Though the sales staff at the Apple store said it should work, it does not. The graphics card apparently should support it, and it may be addressed with a future driver update, but as of now this does not work. I have used a mini-DVI to VGA adapter and monitor to verify that the port is working, and also verified that the S-video cable and TV input work. There are third party VGA to S-video/RCA adapters available so I plan to use one of those for my purposes. This is probably a 5-star product when used with the right Mac; however, Apple should have made it clear that having a mini-DVI port on your Mac is necessary but not sufficient for this to work - hence the 3 stars. -
got my password wrong twice and my mini is disable. I connected to iTunes, but can't get it to work. Can some one guide my through?
If it's showing the red disabled screen due to incorrect passcodes then you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 - you should then be able to reset the iPad via your computer's iTunes and restore/resync your content to it

My ipod touch will not play music in my Bowers and Wilkins mini zeppelin nor my Logitech. Yet, it plays in my car. The music can be heard playing in the ipod itself. It is only 2 years old. Should I repair or just buy another? Thanks!
Did it start not working after updating the iPOs on the iPod? SOmetimes updating an iOS breaks compatibility.
You can try the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod. -
Flash (is it for me?), Wacom Cintiq 22HD, and Mac Mini
I have Flash as part of the CS6 Master Suite, which I purchased primarily for InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere, but as yet I haven't opened Flash. I'm hoping someone here can save me time by advising me whether Flash is suitable for my purposes. I'm not a professional, just a keen amateur, but I do want to use quality software and equipment to do the finest job I can.
Answers to a previous post in the Illustrator forum (Re: Animation – is Illustrator what I should be using?) suggested that I try Flash.
Background
I'll be using Premiere for converting my audio-visuals to HD format. Back in the 1980s I was right into three-screen slide shows. As part of the transforming, I'll be introducing a small number of video clips (hence my need for Premiere) and also short animation sequences, probably 10 seconds at most. The animation will be done by an artist friend who is keen to extend his talents into computer art. If I buy the computer (some sort of Mac), a Cintiq, load the appropriate software, and then loan it all to Steve and show him how to use it, he'll happily spend as much time as required for the animation. We're bartering: he gets to use a computer and tablet for as long as he wants, I get animation.
A typical animation might involve Steve drawing outlines at appropriate intervals, over a background, then having the software generate the in-betweens. Watercolour-style shading (i.e. not fill-type, monotone colour) would be added, probably manually for each frame, unless the tweening can competently handle watercolour-style shading. We're both new to this and recently spent an afternoon together looking at videos on Flash and the Cintiq. The combination looks like it will work for us, but I have a few questions which I'm hoping some of the experts on this forum can answer. A simple yes or no may save me hours of reading documentation only to find out that something won't work as I want. I'll also include some questions about the Cintiq and Mac Mini in case someone who uses them with Flash can provide answers. I live in a place where I have no access to these devices before I buy. I have to buy 'cold'. Thus my wariness.
Please note: I'm not an artist and Steve isn't computer literate. So some of these questions might appear pretty dumb to an experienced user of Flash/Cintiq.

Is Synfig Studio (as suggested at the end of my Illustrator thread) something I should consider? Or is Flash a better bet?

Does Flash have vector tools that mimic a watercolour paintbrush like in Photoshop? Or is that not possible as a vector, and such effects have to be done outside Flash and then imported as background (or other method)?
Ques 3
When a Flash animation is finished, how is it exported, for example, to Premier? Do you export as h.264?
Ques 4
It is not clear to Steve and I after viewing three Cintiq videos, how the Cintiq interfaces to Flash. Does the Cintiq know about Flash, and appropriates certain drawing tools automatically? Or do you have to tell Flash (or the Cintiq) that this button on the Cintiq now operates this tool in Flash?

Do Flash and Cintiq work well together – and easily?

Do I need a monitor to be able to use Flash with the Cintiq? Or would a Mac Mini be a suitable computer – with the Cintiq acting as monitor? Steve won't ever be using this setup as a computer. He'll be treating the Cintiq as a canvas on which to draw and paint.

Flash may be the right product for you and Steve. I use Flash with an Intuos 4 tablet and it works fine. What you want to do is to search the Flash forums for references to Cintiq. There may be some problems that interfere with your intended use, or it may work exactly as you want. The important element for working with any Wacom product is to be sure that you are using the latest drivers for the Wacom product.
If you choose to use a mac mini, get a new one, one that can use a lot of memory, you'll need it.
You can export Flash files to video in most any file type and compression is installed on the computer. So, if you're going to use a Mac, install Quicktime Pro and you should have everything that you need.
I have never heard of or used Synfig Studio, so I can't comment on that.
Flash's paint tools are different from Photoshop and more similar to Illustrator's. You will have all of the flexibility of the Cintiq to control painting effects, it will take some practice, but you should be able to get the effect that you're describing.

How to connect a 23" Cinema display and mac mini to an AV Receiver?
I am trying to get my 23" Cinema display and Mac Mini to a Yamaha RX-2700 AV Receiver. I am on first name terms with the guy in Maplins because I tried to get an Xbox 360 working with this display before and gave up in the end. The AV receiver has upscaling capability so I thought I'd try again. I tried connecting a HDMI - DVI adapter to the HDMI Out on the receiver and a HMDI to DVI cable from the Mac Mini to the HDMI in with a optical cable for the sound. The sound works fine but I get no display - the LED on the monitor flashes three times with a blank screen so it can't read the signal. Another option suggested was to use a VGA Converter connected to a VGA - HDMI cable but I would like to find out if that would work before going down that route?
I am looking for some advice about whether this type of configuation is possible with the 23" ACD and if so what do I need to buy to make it work? I love the quality of my ACD to avoid having to replace it with a TV to get my multi media life in order.

Since itunes 2.0.4 has been downloaded my ipod doesn't synchronize properly/ at all. The LED screen shows çopying 1 or 2 from 101' and itt will remain like that.
It looks like sync but nothing is happening. The sync doesn't stop by itself. Is there anybody to solve this problem? In previous versions never a problem.I have exactly the same issues with my new 80G iPOD. I have found that when connecting to my PC, the iPOD does not start iTUNES 7. This can be resolved by stopping the iPOD Service in Computer Management, connecting the iPOD and then starting it again. Seems like a stupid long-winded way to do things, but at least you can get some stuff on to your iPOD.
As far as using Restore goes - I just get the restoring iPOD message you described, which it blatantly isn't :((

Me and my daughter have same Apple ID for my iPhone iPad and her iPod and iPad mini. Is there any way to get an iCloud account for her devices without changing her Apple ID. She has an old iCloud account from older iPod but can't activate it or remember her old iCloud account.
ThanksYou have to use a different Apple ID to create a new iCloud account (each ID can only be used with a single account). You don't have to use the ID for anything else though, she can continue to use her current ID for other services such as iTunes, iMessage, FaceTime, etc.
The only limitation is that each device can only create three iCloud accounts. -
I have an Itunes account already set up, when setting up my hubby's new phone to itunes, I have somehow merged the 2 itunes accounts together and now itunes is not responding to my phone and all of my info has synced onto my hubby's phone wiping all of his info and adding mine...Help!!

Add another e-mail account to your messages, so people could reach you on that e-mail from messages. As soon as you are online (if you have wifi only iPad) you are able to send and receive messages. i.e. your son can send you a messages from his iPhone addressing it to your (that additional) e-mail address.

i tried to do a backup from my old iphone as i have a new one that was signed into another itunes account. it said i cant do it because the iphone rejected the request. how do i get around this? i have signed out of the old acct and into mine on the phone
What is the precise wording of the error message that occurs on the old iPhone when attempting to do a backup?

I have a MacBook pro and Mac mini both running the latest version of lion. I've had this issue with my MacBook for sometime now, but just dealt with it and figured it was isolated, but now I am finding its not.
Essentially, I will open up safari, or Chrome, and the first few pages will load fine. Sometimes I will get lucky and be able to browse normally, but after awhile, safari just hangs there and stops loading. I can close the window, and open a few more pages before it does it again. Both my mini and MacBook do this, but only on my home network. My MacBook runs perfectly fine on my work wi if, and other wi fis, so I definitely know its my home modem. If I wait it out I can surf the Internet again, but this dead time is absolutely killing me. It just randomly stalls, on both computers.
I current have time Warner cable roadrunner, with a cable modem gateway. The issue was happening on a straight connection. I had hoped getting a time capsule and connecting to that network would solve things, but it didn't. Interestingly enough, my Pcs, Xbox,and all 4 of my iPads and iPhones work just fine on the wifi, so there has to be a communication issues with the MacBook and mini with the cable router.
I've tried messing with lions network DNS servers and tried opendns ones, but those didn't work. Sometimes I can fix the problem for a few hours by power cycling the modem and router, but I shouldn't have to do that over and over every time it's an issue. I've also tried removing and adding the wi if connections, but that.works for a minute or two and then the problem resumes.
Now, I have my time capsule connected to the gateway, and tuned the time Warner modem wireless off, which didn't help of course, but at least I'm properly backed up.
I'm not sure what the issue is. I've even tried typing an ip address of apple during a dead time to see if that worked and didn't.
Does anyone have any other ideas? I'm pretty much at my wits end in this, any ideas would be greatly appreciatedHave you tried a simple reset of your iPod to see if that helps? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Otherwise, have you tried any of the troubleshooting mentioned in this Apple support document?

I've set up my daughters ipod touch last year all fine. She's had a mini this yr but when setting up facetime and entering her email address, which is used on the touch, I get an error message saying the address is already being used.
I thought you can use the same email address on multiple devices.I have four different email addresses setup on my Mac, iPod Touch and my two iPads that I can select from and use as the email address with no problems at all.
Turn off FaceTime, and sign out of the Apple ID in the FaceTime settings, restart the iPad and try again. Turn FaceTime on again, sign in with the Apple ID and then try the email address again.
